Shadow of Death

(This RP is about a Serial Killer. It's a merge of a few RL killers. I will keep this to pretty PG-13 or tame and low R levels but this will be rather disturbing. It's open to anyone, play as victims, cops, media, whatever. Even if all you do here is just post news)
Crime, the part of daily reality of society. Especially in major urban areas. Eventually you get the really sick criminals out there that do more than snatch purses, you get the ones who kill for thrills. Serial killers, nothing can paralyze enter cities like a Serial Killer.
In the dead of the night on a hot summer night two teens were out in a remote lovers lane area. Far from the city lights they sat in a car just talking.
"Kayko, why are we out here?" Her boyfriend asked.
"We're just sitting and talking." She smiled.
Suddenly the lights of a car pulled up.
"Oh no."
Then a red beacon started flashing.
"It's a cop." He sighed.
"Yeah, get your ID out."
The dark shadowy figure stalked to the car and knocked on the window on the passenger side where the boy was sitting. A bright flashlight shun in their eyes.
"You think you can sit here?"
"No sir. Sorry."
"It's dangerous to be out all alone."
"Yeah, I guess. Sorry." With out another word uttered a gunshot rang out.
Kayko shrieked as she struggled to get out of the car with blood splattering on her. She fell onto the ground and got up running down the dark road before being shot to death.
The story made the news the next day. Less than a week later the conditions were the same, a young couple sitting under the stars in the mountains before being attacked by an unknown man.
-------------------------
"In an eerie parallel another attack, this time at the Eagle Mountain Resort, Yuik Sawai and Koji Asako were both attacked by an assalent. Police have not commented on whether these two murders are connected or not, but the style is eerily similar. Sawai and Asako were both shot execution style much like Kayko Kurosawa and Akira Kawazura less than a week ago. Police declined to comment, and the famlies could not be reached."

Cole Pfeiffer wandered down the street, cursing these recent murders. He looked like the sort of person who would be a serial killer, and he was always receiving shifty glances and odd looks, especially now, because of the increased homicide rate. And, the fact that he had a prosthetic hand didn't help either. Sure, he had taken a few lives before, but it was never purely for the sake of killing.
The headlights of a car illuminated the street, and Cole looked back to identify the source. "Damn it," he sighed, and reached for his ID, as the cop car pulled up next to him.
"Hello there."
"Evening, Gentlemen." He held his ID up to the window, knowing the procedure by heart.
"Is there any reason you're out so late, all alone?"
Sigh, "No I suppose not."
"I suggest you head home, it's dangerous on the streets at night."
Pfeiffer rolled his eyes and nodded, as the police car drove away. He was used to being stopped by the authorities, and he was sick of it.
"There must be some sort of reward for bringing the killer to justice, right? And if he's off the streets, surely I won't be constantly hassled by the cops, right?" And thus, Cole Pfeiffer had found something to do other than drink hisself to death.
Jackson leaned back in his chair. The smoke from his cigarette wafted up slowly leaving fading entails in the air around him. A news paper sat on the desk in front of him open to the headlines, they read couple killed on some damned lovers lane.
"Fuck", he thought, "the shit here piles up faster then in the civil war back home". These murders are getting dangerously close to home for me, its only a matter of time before he calls". Jackson's Phone rang.
He look at it for a moment then gave up and lifted it to his ear,"hello".
"Jackson?" the voice on the other end of the line was one of Charlos Novochi his old operations commander.
"What do you want Novochi?" He was trying to stop him self from slamming the phone down there and then but resisted the urge.
"Have you seen the head lines?"
"Ya, what about them."
"Its just awful another couple struck down by this serial killer".
"Ya, it is. So that begs the question why do you care?"
"Jack boy do you really consider my to be so cold?"
"Well, actually yes"
The voice on the other end became more business " Jack I'm going to make this plain and simple for you. "
"Please do." He was becoming irritated.
"This man is not only killing civilians but he is also killing our operatives."
Jackson froze for a moment. How could they know about CII? "So what would you like me to do about this?" He already know what he was going to say.
"Your orders are to investigate and apprehend, try to bring him in alive but if he resists your orders are to terminate with extreme prejudice."
Jackson could already feel the headache starting.

In a lonely college campus in the dark of night it was always the set up of a bad horror film. The young and lovely co-ed walks to her car only to find the killer hiding in the back seat. Kaori wasn't that stupid. She parked as close as possible, under a light, and carried a concealed weapon with her. Out of the dark came a student on crutches and struggling. "Evening." He bid. He tried to walk on.
"You want some help?"
"Oh no, I'll get to the bus stop eventually."
"Come on let me help you."
The so-called-student fell to the ground and let out a very convincing cry of pain.
"Come on, let me help. Besides, there's suppose to be a killer on the lose."
And then it was over in a matter of moments.
Detective Miyuki Sawashiro was on the scene. A young and sharp detective, and one of the few females on the Force.
"College student 25, was armed but obviously off-guard." The cop briefed her.
"Weapon?"
"Gun shot."
"Ironic."
"No, what's ironic is that it was her OWN gun that killed her."
"Her own weapon?"
"Yeah. She was a certified concealed weapons carrier."
"Huh." She knelt over the body examining it.
"Well our killer unloaded on her didn't he. Why is some of her shirt missing?"
"That we don't know."
"Sexual assault?"
"We aren't fully sure. No immediate physical signs of it."
"Yeah. Well keep the analysis up."
She began looking around the crime scene for any other kind of good evidence.
"Nothing usable. No witnesses I imagine."
"No ma'am."
"Didn't think so."

In the days to come, it seemed more and more victims were falling prey to this killer. Miyuki had her hands full keeping tally. Several letters were pouring into police and new media making a tally. While they couldn't confirm the tally, there was nothing to say that this killer WAS picking off this many people.
"Another body I see."
"Yes ma'am."
She began searching the body. "She looks foreign. Not from here."
"Are you sure?"
"No, I can't be sure unless I find some identity." She reached into a pocket.
"Shit, she is foreign." She sighed. "Fantastic, now I have to report this and we're going to have a bureaucratic shit storm."

The Free People's Republic had certainly dealt with its share of serial killers ever since the nation had been founded. Many of them filled the annals of a blood soaked history which only those willing to delve into the pits of Man's wickedness would look through. It is a commonly observed truth, quipped one policeman on the arrest of a famous strangler in the 1950s, that parents never guess that their children will end up dead when they go off with a family friend or when they go overseas on a student exchange - this was the case of a young girl named Violet Bowden. She was one of those girls who loved the usual feminine pleasures of polishing one's nails and listening to the music of certain boys you had a crush on. In her arrival in Motokata, as part of some Republic Outreach Program her parents signed her up for, Violet was armed with nothing but her purse and a vial of pepper spray her parents gave her for protection. She was dressed in a lovely outfit with a green beret on her head that gave a sort of French appearance despite her full blooded English background.
Violet signed in with her host family and made plenty of new friends within the week. On a Saturday afternoon, Violet Bowden went out with her host brother to see the sights. She had no idea of her role in the events that would soon occur in this city - that's the problem of life. You never know.

"How you doing?" He asked. "Must be a student. Your not from here, the day you see a native born white girl in Motokata. Ha ha sorry not a racist, just observing."

He stood up from the table and walked towards the restrooms, before he made it he was knocked unconscious snatched into a dark closet and stabbed to death.
Violet patiently waited but remaining vigilant. She felt her phone vibrate she had a voice male message apparently from her Host Brother.
She stood and went outside.

"Her cell phone."
She listened to the cryptic VM.
"Just like our guy. Who was with her?"
"A son in the hostfamily she was staying with. He obviously was stabbed in the same pattern."
"Well I've got to go call Foreland Homicide."

Violet tried to reach for the pepper spray that she kept in her purse but she wasn't able to use it against the strange man. As he brutally stabbed the sharpened knife into her flesh, as the ruby red blood poured out from the massive wounds, she could see her life flashing before her eyes and hear the sounds of her loved ones playing in her head. When the man was finally finished with her work, Violet looked up to see him walking away without concern.
She blinked for a moment and then saw her mother standing in front of her with a smile upon her face - it must have been the angel who would take her to Heaven - or a loving hallucination of her mind before she died. Violet reached for her mother's hand but couldn't take hold of it. She uttered a soft cry for her mother and then closed her eyes. Violet Bowden was dead. Perhaps she would be looking down on the scene from Heaven, wishing for vengeance and struggling to adapt to her new home, but how can we tell?
After Sawhiro had notified the authorities in Foreland of the murder of Violet Bowden, they immediately went to work in finding her parents under the orders of Commissioner Richmond who had often dealt with cases of child murder before during his long career in the corps. Richmond was a family man who always had a particular hatred for child murderers.
As soon as he was told about what happened, he arranged for officers to meet with the Bowden family at their suburban home. The Bowdens were an upper middle class family composed of Mr and Mrs. Charles and Anne Bowden and their three children, Richard, Violet and Emma. None of them knew that Violet was dead. They all assumed she was having plenty of fun and Mrs. Bowden was going to mail a letter to Violet when she was intercepted by the police officers as she walked out of her house. "Hello there," the lead officer began, "May we speak with you? It's about your daughter Violet."
Mrs. Bowden didn't know why the police were concerned about one of her children as she let them inside while calling for her husband to come help her out with them. Mrs. Bowden was a beautiful Englishwoman with fair skin and a slender frame that men often envied. Her husband, Mr. Bowden, was a charming gentleman who worked for a local company in the business district. Richard and Emma had been out to see a movie, Mrs. Bowden said, when she was asked if she had any other children. "We were told by the Motokatan authorities that your daughter was stabbed to death. They fear a serial killer was responsible for the crime."
The Bowdens remained silent while the head officer continued to explain. "Her host brother was also found killed at the scene of the crime - we are trying our best to co-operate with the Motokatans. We'll make sure you'll see your daughter again."
Mrs. Bowden knew that these men were serious. It was hard to believe that this was anything else other than the cold hard truth. The daughter she had loved, the second child she and her husband brought into the world, the one she doted on, was nothing but a corpse in a Motokatan morgue - Anne's heart was shattered by the unexpected revelation. She began to weep in front of the others. Her daughter died in so much pain, she thought, and she couldn't rescue her from the man who took her life. While Mrs. Bowden wept and shrieked, Charles Bowden spoke with the officers before sending them away with a stern sigh. "Our daughter's gone," Anne cried to Charles, "our daughter's gone! My baby!"
Charles felt his wife throw herself into his rugged arms and he listened to her lamentations in total and unconditional silence before Richard and Emma arrived from the movies. When they asked about why their mother was crying, Charles explained it all to them. "That fucking piece of shit," Richard began, "I hope they kill him. I hope they string him up a tree."
Charles nodded. "We'll be heading over to Motokata this week to retrive the corpse and bring it back here for burial. I want you children to be more careful when you go out and to make sure that you pay your respects to your sister - your mother and I will be quite busy these next couple of days."
As the Bowdens prepared to retrieve the corpse of their beloved daughter and sister from Motokata, Commissioner Richmond was talking over his phone with one of the best detectives he had in the corps. William Wilson, a man in his mid thirties, was a detective who had solved plenty of cases. Most of them involved the murder of women and girls and each case, though they hit him hard due to his status as a husband with children, was ruthlessly solved without any hesitation. Wilson was sleeping in bed with his wife when he recieved the call. "You're going to be sent to Motokata," Richmond said calmly while looking at a picture of Violet that he held in his hand, "and you're going to do whatever you can to help them find that son of a bitch."
William groggily nodded. "This is about the Violet Bowden case, correct? I'm sure that we'll be able to find the man responsible for her death. I'm sure the Bowdens have already been told about this?"
Richmond put the picture down and sighed. "They're going to Motokata as well to retrive their daughter's corpse for burial back here in Foreland. Perhaps you'll see them in Motokata. If you do, tell them you'll do whatever you can to find the culprit. You've always done such bloody fine work back here in Foreland."
After the conversation with Richmond ended, William Wilson got dressed in what he called his detective's uniform and explained to his wife that he had to go to Motokata and worked with their investigators. "Find him like you did all the others," William's wife told him, "and make sure that he gets what he deserves."
Later that day, William Wilson and the Bowdens got aboard planes intended for Motokata. Both wondered what would be ahead of them.

Charles Bowden could not believe that he was heading over to Motokata to retrive the corpse of his beloved child but he never once believed that it was any sort of cruel dream. No, he could not accept such fanciful delusions about what had happened - his daughter was dead - and there was nothing he could do but accept it and somehow move on. His wife was silent throughout the entire flight while his remaining children were talking amongst themselves about Violet's death. Charles ended up just staring silently at the family portrait that he kept with him in his wallet. It was of the family at a local park, one that his friend had taken for them, and he couldn't bear himself to think that Violet, that bright and lovely child of his, could have been killed. Sure, he knew it happened, but he couldn't understand why it had to happen. After the plane landed at the airport, Charles and his family stepped out and looked for what they assumed would be some welcoming party from the Motokatan authorities. While they waited, William Wilson stepped out of his own plane and looked for the authorities who would be greeting him.
