Tired of the corruption, the people revolt!

Newly elected President Joseph appeares on the telivision, the South Defese flag, which looks hastily sewn is behind him. A makeshift desk is seen, with muffled explosions being heard and dust floating off the ceiling.
"We the people are tired of the corruption and tyranny of the Defese goverment! We break away to form our own nation! One of peace, and equal rights!
We implore the goverments of the world to aid us in our quest for freedom, as we speak the goverment of North Defese is acting, and I must make my speech in this bunker! Their troops are marching the streets, turning the cities into war zones! Our gurrila forces are fighting them as best we can, but we need outside assistance!
All we have are five thousand gurrilla forces, with AK-47's and RPGs as their only means of defence. We have already lost our capital, Torinta, to North Defese occupational forces, and my men are being lined up and shot like dogs!"
A explosion, slightly louder then the rest is heard, and Joseph is seen almost falling out of his chair, the items of his desk flying off in random directions.
A couple soldiers are seen running past the camera, orders are being shouted and gunfire is heard
"I cannot continue this broadcast much longer." Joseph continued.
"But I beg the nations of the world to force North Defese out of our land, we deserve the freedom we are fighting for!
If North Defese takes control then hundreds of people are going to be slaughtered like pigs! I beg you to--"
A loud explosion is heard, and parts of the ceiling start caving in. Joseph is seen staring in horror at the roof, then being pushed away by a soldier, who is crushed beneath the rocks.
Joseph is seen on the edge of the screen, standing up and starting to run to a hallway barely seen offscreen
The broadcast cuts off. The screen is black.

The streets of Torinta are in chaos, South Defese forces are pitted in a brutal urban warfare. Death is everywere, buildings are bombed out, people are fleeing in terror. A North Defese Abrams tank is seen rolling down the main avenue, and suddenly 2 gurilla forces behind a burning car fire 2 RPGs at the tank, the tank explodes into a hellish fireball. Northern troops immediatly begin firing on the rebels, and the gurillas are slaughtered.
Meanwhile, 3 B-52's from North Defese open their bomb bay doors, ready to carpet bomb the city into oblivion.
Only a few North troops are in the city, acceptable losses, considering the bulk of the Southern troops are in the city.
The planes are picked up on one of the still functioning radar stations, and air raid sirens immediatly begin blaring.
Soon there will be nothing left of the city exept rubble...

The head of state of the nation of North Defese and other relevant officials;
Recently, on a Defesian network monitored by our government personnel, as many are, appeared a man who appeared to be a representative of a struggling people of your nation trying to pull away and form their own government, a struggle often echoed around the world and engrained in our history. He mentions the slaughtering of hundreds, and corruption and tyranny in your government.
Is there an explanation for this broadcast?

I assure you the leaders of the rebellion will be given a fair and speedy trial.
As we speak the capital city is being carpet bombed, nothing could have survived it.
The rebellion is over and you have no more jurisdiction.

Wonderful first post, by the way. And, if I wanted to assist you... you're all kinda dead, so that would be pretty hard.

President Tamathy and other relevant officials with security clearance;
We have never had any jurisdiction in this area, but are merely inquisitive as to expand our knowledge about your country. We must ask that if you have 'carpet bombed' the city, which is not a very nice war tactic not valued much by the international community, how can you have a safe and speedy trial if the city has been incinerated and all are dead? However, if there are any survivors that will be sent to trial, we ask that a representative from the Commonwealth be sent to act as an independent observer.

Another Broadcast from Joseph
The President is seen on camera, sitting behind another desk. A ripped South Defese flag is stapled to the wall behind him. His desk is charred black in some places, and covered in dust.
Joseph's head is bandaged over one eye, and his left arm is in a sling.
He begins to speak...
"Ladies and gentlemen of the world. At 1200 today, North Defese troops sent 3 B-51 bombers to carpet bomb our capital.
The deathcount has almost reached a hundred thousand.
A hundred thousand. And not all of those were our people, they bombed their own soldiers into the ground.
Thousands of innocent souls were lost today. Many of these were freedom loving people, wishing for a better future for their children, but now those children will grow up without parents.
Now parents who lost their children wont be able to see them grow up.
My forces are still engaging Northern troops, in countless cities, in order to avenge these deaths.
He struggles to stand up, then faces the camera with a look of cold determination
You can kill a man, but you cant kill his ideas!
We will prevail, we will earn our freedom.
The broadcast ends

Actually, you can. As the man's ideas are created by his brain and exist in his consciousness, the cessation of that consciousness (i.e. death) does in fact kill those ideas, as well as everything else in the man's thoughts. Of course, other people may survive and maintain similar ideas, but they will not be precisely the same ideas simply because they are generated by a different brain. Fun fact! - Will

OOC: He has a phone line, but its traceable. Everything else was knocked out from the bombing.
The city was but a shell of its former self, the skeletons of buildings were all that was left of a once thriving city, and against all logic, a few blocks of scattered buildings remained standing, perhaps they were reinforced, or perhaps the bombs missed them.
There was no fire, becuse there was nothing left to burn. But that did not stop the smoke, or the dust. It carpeted the whole city. Choking away the few last pockets of life.
Now only scattered groups survived, untouched by the clouds of smoke and dust, left to starve under rubble, their cries unheard, their prayers...Unaswered.
A small group of 5 North Defese troops walked through the mess that was once a street. They wore Haz-Mat suits, so were unaffected by the deadly clouds.
Their orders were to shoot anything not wearing a North Defese uniform.
But it was confusing, a person olivedrab and gray are hard to distinguish from a person wearing greenwhen both were covered in soot.
They had given up trying to decide what was what, and just shot anything that moved.
A man, missing half of his right arm, stumbled to the soldiers. He gasped for breath, each time he inhaled be breathed in the deadly cloud of dust and smoke, he stumbled, and coughed loudly. He finally caught the soldiers attention.
He heard a bang, then a sharp pain on his chest. He looked down, and moaned when he saw a hole on his chest, it was leaking large amounts of blood. He put his hand on the wound, pressing hard on it, trying to stop the bleeding, but it wouldent stop. The bleeding just wouldent stop.
He heard another bang, then he felt another sharp pain on his left shoulder. He fell foward on his knees, screaming in agony.
The soldiers felt no pity. They walked away, leaving the man to die in a pool of his own blood.
Alone.

Joseph's bunker
Joseph was at his desk, head down, trying to comprehend what was happening.
"What did I start?" He wondered.
"I am responsible for the death of thousands...This isnt a war...Its a massacure..."
"Sir.." Someone asked hesitantly.
Joseph wiped his eyes, then looked up, and saw a young soldier, he looked about 20.
"We have managed to contact a small band of survivers still alive in the city."
He stated. Joseph couldent bear to see the look of hope in his eyes, not now. He looked away, his mind wondered.
"Sir?" The soldier asked, now looking nervous, confused.
"What is your name soldier?" Joseph asked. His voice hollow.
The soldier was startled.
"Its Jimmy sir."
"Do you have a family Jimmy?" Joseph asked. His voice showing no emotion.
"S-sir?" Jimmy stuttered.
"Do you have a family?" Joseph asked. Finally looking at him.
"Y-yes sir. They were captured during the protests..." Jimmy answered. His eyes watering.
"I think...I think they were put in one of the camps..."
"Jimmy." Joseph stood up, and looked him right in the eye. His voice turned into steel.
"Jimmy, will you continue to fight?"
They locked eyes.
"I will fight to the death sir."
"Have you traced that phone line yet?" Prime Minister Ashton Butler let some annoyance fall into his voice. How hard is it to trace a phone line in this day and age?
"His broadcast's very garbled, sir. Our best technicians are on it, but it's just simply not-" Defense Minister James Fredrick was interrupted as a young man hurridly rushed into the room and then stopped.
"Uhhh.... umm..." the man was unnerved by being in a room with the Prime Minister, Defense Minister, and Foreign Affairs Minister, who was Robert Ochiv. "Sir... they've cracked the phone line. Here it is." He laid a piece of paper on the Prime Minister's desk like it was holy ground and backed away and out the door slowly, like it was all a dream.
"Sir! I must protest!" Robert said his first words in a while.
"You always protest. Let me guess, it's something about going through the right diplomacy channels, blah blah blah..." Ashton trailed off. "Well, too bad."
"But that's what earns us respect in the international community!"
"James," said the Prime Minister, turning around and ignoring Robert, "call that number from a phone booth. We don't want it to be traced. And take any precautions you can for being overheard."
"Understood." James Fredrick walked out of the room and headed down an elevator to street level, where he walked about five blocks down the street and took out his cell phone. "Get the phonebooth... 0609 so it cannot be traced." He paused. "Good." He then walked into the phonebooth and dialed the number.
"Hello?" Let's just play it cautious.

"This is no time for self-pity." He thought, and finally picked up the phone.
"Hello?" He heard.
"Yes? This is Joseph. How did you get this number?" He questioned.
James shifted around uncomfortably in the phonebooth. This had better be untraceable!!! If it isn't... I'll get those technicians!
"Uh - sorry. In thought there." Gee, nice going. This is a serious conversation and... whatever, just get along with it. "That's not important. What is important is that you need help. Correct?"

"WHAT THE F--- DO YOU THINK!?!?"
The few men around his desk jumped at his voice, then when they saw his face, hurried away.
"I just had a major city obliterated, and now a hundred thousand people are DEAD, and my entire force has been wiped out! And your asking me if I need Help!??!?!"
"Contact me when you find someone better equipped to have this conversation"
With that, he slammed the phone down, and swore.
