But Father! (Open, MT, Intro).

Song meant for thread. (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QxidrXkAVGI)

"Father, these death camps are mad!" shouted Prince Harold. "Galsia is a nation, not a mass murderer! The people from the lands you gave the order to invade and conquer are being executed in camps across our country!"

King William turned to his only son coldly, staring at his son's handsome face. "I am the King of this country. You are the heir, and you're lucky to be alive!"

They were alone in the Imperial Castle's study room. Harold had stormed in while his father was beating Sara, the King's wife and Harold's mother, using some form of whip. His mother had fainted, with a small pool of blood forming around her body. Not that the King and his son noticed that.

"You bastard," snapped Harold. "You have turned our country from a peaceful, stable nation into a murderous hellhole with a collapsing - or should that be collapsed - economy! You are a traitor !"

William held up his whip. "Speak again and you will be whipped. A father must install discipline in his son."

"Oh, just like you whipped my-" started Harold, before his leg was smacked with his father's powerful whip. His father started hitting his back with the thing, forcing him onto the ground, blood starting to flow. But that didn't bother his father.

***

"Harold?" asked Princess Helena. "Harold?"

His eyes slowly blinked open. He was in his bed, with his sister caring for him. On his bedside table, he saw that a cup of tea and a chicken sandwich had been placed there, probably by his sister.

"My God, what did Father do to you?"

Harold tried to move, but all movements caused an unbearable pain in his back and legs. He had been whipped forty-something times before he had passed out. There was only guessing at what Father had done after that.

"Where's Mother?" demanded a selfless Harold. "How is she?"

"Mother is well," replied Helena, staring into her brother's eyes. "Mother says she doesn't feel well."

"Oh God, I better" Harold was interrupted by the enormous pain in his back after he attempted to step up. "-Holy Fuck!"

"Brother, please rest," begged the Princess. "Father has whipped us all, as we know.”

And with that, a beaten 23-year-old Prince thanked his sister but stated he would see his mother after a sleep. And as he slept, a beautiful dawn broke. Along with a war.

***

Several minutes after Prince Harold had drifted off to sleep, Imperial Galsian Army troops had started crossing the border into the Republic of Tschvale, a small democratic nation led by a liberal-leaning party. The Tschvalean military was small, only consisting ten thousand or so troops, with very few placed on the border after the signing of a Non-Aggression Pact with the Empire of Galsia, who had terrified them for hundreds of years. Now, the Tschvalean Defence Forces were busier patrolling the south of their country, after a band of Islamic terrorists had started 'terrorizing' the Arab south.

A total of fourteen thousand men were marching into Tschvale one way or another, be that through the direct border with Galsia, being dropped into the capital of the country, Kinvali, or encircling the country by coming from either the east, south or west. The main forces were coming in directly from Galsia.

Soon after, the bombings began.

***

The Sukhoi Su-24 aircraft were flying just over Kinvali know, travelling only several miles from the Galsia/Tschvale border. That was the prices of having your capital city located near an imperialistic neighbour, or so the pilots of Su-24s thought.

As they flew over Kinvali, the pilots all started dropping their bombs onto the city beneath them. In a space of ten minutes, the group of sixteen had dropped all but five bombs. The aircraft with the remaining five bombs instantly sped forward, and dropped its last bombs onto the small parliament buildings of the nation.

That was the government gone.

In the Empire of Galsia, SRPA had strategically placed sleeper agents. With the attacks on Kinvali already over, Avalon One had decided that now was the time for these sleepers to awaken.

A telephone in King Williams' study rang.

OOC: If it's okay, i'd like to use SRPA to get in contact with the Prince and Princess, but that will come a little later. I'm guessing you wanted some sort of international response?

President Tamthy was sitting at his desk, watching the news when a officer, bearing the uniform of the Logistical Command, burst into the room.
"Sir! Galsia has just started a bombing campaign against Kinvali! Reports are coming in, Galsia Sukhoi Su-24's just bombed the capital of Kinvali. Parliment is gone."

King William smiled at the report one of his advisers had handed him. It dictated that the invasion of Tschvale was going well, with the Tschvalean Parliament being completely wiped out. By the end of the next month, they would probably have complete control over the nation, after the Defence Forces and the Islamists were dealt with in one way or another.

One of his maids had entered. Why did they always come in here whenever he was talking with an adviser over secret material? Were they not just maids? Spies? That thought had made him throw a book at her.

After the adviser had left, he had simply started reading the propaganda from the news agencies. He loved the way described him as a 'glorious and great' leader who has 'made our nation great'. But he had. He had started the Empire, with the militaristic reign of his.

Then his telephone rang rather loudly.

"Hello? Who is this? Who is this?" he demanded, nearly shouting into the phone.

A strange and distorted voice spoke back:

"I am going to give you a word. The word is Avalon. When the time comes that you hear it again, you will know what it means. You have been warned. Failure to comply will result in unforseen consequences"

Meanwhile...

A woman dressed like a maid entered Harold's quarters. She left a small folded note on the table, before leaving as quickly as she had entered.

In hurried, yet surprisingly neat handrighting, the note read:

If you stand against what the King is doing, in this nation and others, ring this number: 01245 922 3432

The maid had left the King's Palace/Castle. A black SUV waited for her a few minutes down the road, and it moved off quickly once she reached it.

"Never again" the woman said to the driver, a small smile creeping across her face. The driver, an elderly man with white hair and a white beard, grinned back at her.

Official Diplomatic Communiqué.

To President Tamthy of North Defese.
From King William III of Galsia.

Dear sir,

We feel that we must inform North Defese that the nation is Tschvale, not Kinvali, which is the capital of Tschvale rather than the actual nation you claim to be your trading partner. However, we will excuse this as a minor error on your part.

Moving on, we wish to state that our 'attack' on Tschvale was purely for defensive reasons; the Navy of Tschvale had recently embarked on a rather imperialistic operation at sinking merchant ships coming from our nation and our trade partners, and after diplomatic talks failed and the sinking of the merchant ships continued, we were sadly forced into this action.

We hope that a war between our nations does not take place, but we note the aggression from North Defese.

Yours Sincerely,
King William III.

((OOC: The above is utter crap. The invasion was jut an imperialistic operation aimed at establishing Galsia a hold near the Middle-East.))

"I hope you know we can trace numbers," came the overconfident reply of the King, as he slammed the phone down and noticed the maid had left. Well, he had thrown a book at her. The dictionary, as a matter of fact.

The King simply went on with his work, but after several minutes he left the room, the note sitting there, unnoticed. Until the Prince spotted it, as he limped across the room.

"Hello? I found a note on the King's study. I despise his actions as well. I am Prince Harold, please reply."

"You must be the King's son. Do not ask my name. I cannot speak it over this line, as it may not be secure. If you wish to see an end to his reign of terror, perhaps you and I can set the wheels in motion. Meet my SUV outside the Palace/Castle in exactly 5 hours time"

0500 Hours, Somewhere in Southern Tschvale

"I'm telling you, this could be very big indeed. Much bigger then we anticipated earlier." Whispered Pyotr Valincheski as he fiddled with a loose strap on his flak vest. He was a Volzgradien Agent, a very low ranking one, but an agent none the less.

"Right, and why precisely should we ever trust you again? Last time you had a 'big deal' you almost got half my fucking squad killed!" Hissed the voice on the other end of the receiver.

Pyotr sighed and wiped his dirty brow of perspiration. "This time I'm serious. Do you know how just how much the Ministry of Defense wants another victory like Blacktopia?" He replied after a few tense moments.

The phone was silent. Pyotr waited, nervous like always in this damp hellhole of a nation. I should have kept that damn desk job, he mused to himself as more sweat trickled down his forehead.

"I'm probably going to regret this, but I'll see if the Ministry is interested. I swear though, if you screw this up I'll tear your fu-"

Pyotr turned off his phone and shoved it into the breast pocket of his vest. He'd finally gotten his answer, and hopefully he could show that arrogant bastard Kovalyov what he could really do. Carefully, he slipped out from the alley where he had made the call and sprinted toward the nearest building. He doubted anyone would even take notice of him, especially since the Galsian Army was only a few klicks from the town. Still, he was a cautious man, especially after the debacle that was his last assignment.

Quickly noticing that this particular shack was empty and quite barren, Pyotr simply walked straight toward the nearest desk. He hastily undid the buckles on his suitcase and pulled out his laptop. Deftly brushing aside the rubbish on the desk, he lay his laptop flat on the rough hewn wooden table and began to contact the Volzgradien Special Patriotic Service.

"Helena, a group has offered us end to end the reign of Father," whispered Harold to his sister.

Helena turned around. "Who are they?"

"At any rate, good. I believe that one of our maids were a sleeper agent for them, the one who ran off. If so, she had put a note down with a phone number which I called. I was told there would be a 'SUV' whatever that is. I'll take a guess its some foreign word for a 4x4."

Helena was thinking something, but here blank face concealed whatever that was. They were in the kitchen, with Harold still limping around and grimacing everytime he took a step. Their father was in the living room, watching a propaganda report from a news agency.

"I can't stand Father either. He's a bastard. I'm ashamed to be his daughter."

"So you're coming?"

"Yes."

Harold and Helena had lied to ther parents that they were going the shops. Harold was wondering whether he would eventually kill Father, while Helena was thinking about the invasion of Tschvale. Either way, they both wanted to end their father's reign.

As hey stepped into the 'SUV', Harold was the first to speak:

It was snowing in the Empire. Thick, heavy snow which was accustomed to being welcomed by Galsian subjects. Small children would make snow angels in it and build snowmen, along with snowball fights. It would also make the blood clear as they prepared to assault Hcnn, a small Tschvalean town in the South.

The usual Imperial Army approach was adopted. The armoured vehicles would go first into the town, providing a shield for the several hundred soldiers behind them. The snipers would encircle the town through the high hills surronding it, and the assault would begin. Hcnn only had several patrols guarding it, making it a certain victory for the Empire after the snipers had dealt with them.

The barn in which Pyotr was hiding in was one of the first places t be attack, with a grenade being thrown into by a conscripted private who only wanted to work in a steel factory. Soon enough, the grenade exploded, and two prvates moved into it fast, armed with AK-47 rifles and Desert Eagle pistols.

Rostgard News Network Live Report
'Terror in Tschvale'

"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. This is Douglas Bennet, reporting live to you from Kinvali, capitol city of the small Republic of Tschvale. Just over an hour ago, a series of explosions rocked the city, accompanied by low-flying military aircraft." Bennet paused briefly.

"Since then, we've learned that the explosions were part of a preliminary bombing campaign conducted by the neighboring Empire of Galsia. Galsian troops have surged across the common border between these nations, in a drive on Kinvali. The Tschvale Defense Forces appear to have folded almost without a fight. Most of the police and military units we've seen were pulling out of the city and heading off toward the South, perhaps to link up with other units already deployed for domestic anti-terror operations.

It appears certain now that the government of Tschvale has collapsed, whether as a result of the earlier bombing or the pandemonium that has followed. There is chaos in the streets, and conflicting reports indicating Galsian troops may already be inside Kinvali. The sound of heavy automatic weapons fire and a handful of explosions from closer to the city center seem to give support to these claims."

"Douglas," broke in a new voice, that of Alicia Smith from the RNN studio in Rostgard, "What else can you tell us about the developing situation in Tschvale?"

"Well Alicia, we haven't been able to do much background research into the nation, as Kinvali was intended only as a forty-eight hour layover before our arrival in the Southern Pacific to cover a Salzland fleet exercise," he replied. "It does seem there was some form of mutual Non-Aggression Treaty signed between Tschvale and Galsia, though what caused it to be broken remains unknown. What we do know is that without any international action the Republic of Tschvale will be entirely overrun in a matter of weeks at best."

"The Salzland government has yet to issue a statement regarding the developing situation in Tschvale. Douglas, thank you very much. Ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of Douglas Bennet, this has been a Rostgard News Network breaking news update. The time is 5:50 PM."

*****

The scene inside the President's briefing room was one of controlled panic, as advisors prepared to present President Phillips everything the Salzland intelligence community had been able to come up with regarding Galsia. With breaking reports coming in from an RNN press team several times an hour, it was a certainty that the public would demand a strong response to the crisis.

"All right people, what do we know?" Phillips asked, striding into the room and taking a seat at the head of the table.

"Sir," began the Defense Minister, Ian Williams. "Galsian armed forces have poured across the common border with Tschvale, over-running the meager resistance and landing some airborne units in the capitol. Galsia appears to have complete air superiority over the capitol, and is rapidly moving to encircle the surviving Tschvale Defense Forces. We estimate that, barring foreign intervention, resistance will be crushed within the month."

"Should we be helping Tschvale?" was the President's next question, addressed to the Minister for Foreign Relations, Johnathon Davis.

"Sir Tschvale is, excuse me, was a stable democracy. The majority party may have been a little further to the left than we would prefer, but certainly Tschvale was much better off with them in power as opposed to Galsia. The Galsians, as you know, are an Imperial society with what appears to be an absolutist Monarch at the reigns. We've heard whispers about 'relocation camps' being established within occupied Tschvale. The sort of camp where one enters alive but doesn't leave that way, if our reports are accurate."

"Ian, what do we have in the area? I want to start putting pressure on the Galsians as soon as possible," the President said, committing the Armed Republic to Tschvale's defense.

"We're lighter than I would like in this region, but we should be able to neutralize the Galsians' air superiority within forty eight hours from your 'Go' order. Once we start rolling back the Galsian Air Force, we can bring in the heavy bombers and strike aircraft to slow their ground forces. We can have two airborne divisions on the ground to bolster the Tschvaleans within seventy two hours, as long as we have somewhere to drop them. Four days from now we can have two carrier battle groups within missile range of both Tschvale and Galsia. It'll take two weeks to start getting armor and mechanized units in, but until then we should have numerical superiority on the ground and a stalemate in the skies, at the very least."

"Do it," the President ordered, knowing full well that the Airborne troops would have to depend on Tschvale for armored support, along with whatever aid the Salzland Air Force could provide them. It was a risk, but the alternative of standing by and doing nothing was worse. "John," he added, "Prepare a statement for the Galsian King. Give them twelve hours to begin pulling out, or we'll show them to the border ourselves."

****

To: King William, Galsia
From: Office of the Minister for Foreign Relations, Salzland

Sir,

Having recently noted your deployment of military forces to the neighboring Republic of Tschvale, we must demand that you immediately recall your deployed forces and halt operations inside Tschvale. The Armed Republic of Salzland will not stand for the aggressive actions you have taken against your neighbor, for no discernable reason. You have twelve hours to begin the full withdrawal of your forces from Tschvale, and suspend any and all air, ground and naval operations against them.

Should you choose to disregard this deadline, be advised that the President has authorized the Salzland Defense Forces to begin operations to forcibly eject your troops from Tschvale.

Signed,

J. Marcus Davis

Ralkovia had always been a center for raw military power. The kind that overwhelmed enemies and crushed nations. The kind that frightened nations who feared ralkovia's brutality.

The Emperor of Ralkovia, in all his divinity, grace and purity was one of the few who could control Ralkovia and he was always in need of allies. Allies that were just as aggressive as Ralkovia, just as ruthless, just as brutal, just as impure and violent as the image of ralkovia had placed on itself.

The small nation of Galsia had appeared on the radar almost 10 months ago as it had instituted the annihilation of the unwanted. Now a report on the actions of Galsia against the democratic nation of Tschvale. Now foreign powers seeking "peace" sought to crush this country of Galsia. The Emperor, like G-d would deliver Galsia to its new place by IFA's side hopefully with an incentive of helping crush those who would seek to harm Galsia. Ralkovia so far could sport a massive show of power as veterans of the Stok-GWO war, and the Apponsa war began to come home.

With a single order the hundreds of ships, tanks, and soldiers could be turned around and sent to help Galsia. That was of course with the King of Galsia's blessing. Ralkovia wanted to tie a knot between Galsia, IFA, and Ralkovia. And the Emperor, in his divine grace would do what he needed to ensure that a knot was tied.

Ralkovia could invest over 1 million men to this conflict in little more than an hour and should this drag on it could invest another million.

Pyotr barely had time to react before the first of the grenades began to fly in through the half broken windows of the shack. Reacting on pure instinct, he dove behind a nearby mildew ridden couch and pulled out his sidearm, a Drozdogradien made TT-77. It was an old and rusty piece of hardware, but it had seen Pyotr through some of the toughest times in his relatively short life as an agent.

"Shit!" He hissed to himself as he realized that the laptop was still on the remains of the table, remarkably intact despite the flurry of shrapnel. Realizing he could never survive trying to retrieve it, he aimed his TT-77 and put a trio of rounds into the laptop's hard drive. The ruined remains of the small computer were sent flying into the nearby wall as if hit by a sledgehammer.

Before the bullets had even hit, Pyotr had begun to run up the rickety building's staircase. If his estimation was correct, then the building he was in was 2-3 stories high. If he was really lucky, then he could find some way to escape through the roof. Pyotr began to pump his arms and legs even faster as he heard crashes and angry voices behind him.

Wordlessly, Pyotr kicked open the door to the rooftop and sprinted out. Apparently, someone was watching over him because he immediately spotted a nearby rooftop which he could jump to. Pyotr backed up a few steps before sprinting and propelling himself over the ledge of the roof. He could hear more voices and shouts below and behind him as he cleared the chasm between the two buildings.

He hit the adjacent rooftop clumsily, but he was back on his feet running before he could even catch a breath.

What I'm trying to say is that in an hour I can turn my ships around and head to Galsia to help. It takes a few hours to get everything ready etc. but it takes about an hour to tell the ships to stop and head to a new coordinate.

Now I'm not sending units IMMEDIATELY. I'm waiting the King of Galsia to say,"yes I need your help." If I didn't do that I would be putting myself into harsh reprisals for helping an aggressive nation.)

"So how many men do you want?" The young man, more of a boy, asked.

"I already told you, I don't want the standard squad: I just want a few men who have Special Forces training and the gear for them, probably around two or three other people would do me fine." Deco Gyarmati replied from over a steaming fresh cup of coffee.

The young man/boy nodded, looked down at a folder which contained the mission briefing, and passed it over. Deco took it with one gloved hand, nodded his thanks, stood up, and prepared to step outside and deal with the cold Ursavian winters, especially so close to all the mountains.

***Approaching the Republic of Tschvale***

The C-130 was cold but thankfully Deco was clad in winter geat along with his parachute and combat gear. It was the same with the two other members of his team, both Black Guard like he was: Kadosa Lancos and Zsuka Donko. They all wore winter-camouflaged hoodies, pants, white boots, white gloves, all of them had ski-masks with them gas-masks, beanies, and each of them carried Steyrs. Besides that, they also carried HK .45s along with each person having their own Steyr interchangable kits. None of the gear was marked as well as the plain so they wouldn't be identified as Ursavian if they were captured or killed at any point in 'enemy territory'...which currently covered the entire country of Tschvale and most of it's neighboring territories and waters for the time being.

Deco pulled his beanie over his thinly trimmed hair, so thin he seemed almost bald, and watched as Zsuka tucked her neck-long dark red hair under her hat and Kadosa did the same thing Deco had done. Then all three of them moved to one of the side doors and once they were presented with the green light lept from the plane and soon deployed shoots. Such a distance that they were as far away as possible so only just in RADAR range but they'd still be able to drift in to the country where they would meet up with any locals...assuming there were any still alive.

Parliament House, Whiskeasy, 18:37

The aide paused the tape. He looked over towards the PM and said "Umm, yes so that was broadcasted about forty five minutes ago sir, and Salzland says they will act against this 'Galsia', unless they with draw from Tschvale. Your advisor have decided that the best course of action is to form a military coalition with Salzland, if they are willing, and then stand off until Galsia backs down or makes the mistake of carrying on"

Prime Minister Frederick Gordons looked out of the window, gazing over the pleasant gardens that spread out over the rear of Parliament House.
"Put the troops on stand-by, if they don't do what our fair allies say. We go in, and we will show them how Freedom works."

Diplomatic Communiqué: Maximum Encryption
To President Phillips, Salzland.
From Prime Minister Frederick Gordons.

I'm writing to you concerning the situation in Galsia, or rather in Tschvale. I completely support your decision to intervene militarily unless they withdraw their troops. Until then we will have our troops on standby ready to counter attack until your deadline is fulfilled. As allies we should stand and fight tyranny and oppression wherever it may be.
Your faithful friend,
Frederick Gordons.

Diplomatic Communiqué
To King William, Galsia
From Secretary for Foreign Affairs Edward Scissenfeld

We are disgusted and appalled by your unprovoked, shameful and cowardly attack on the Republic of Tschvale. Such terrible aggressive acts against a peaceful nation warrant intervention by the right and good. We echo our allies, The Heavily Armed Republic of Salzland, in their deadline. If you do not pull out, we will engage your troops and force you out of Tschvale. You now know the consequences of your games and as such it is on you now.
Regards,
Edward Scissenfeld.

To: Prime Minister Gordons, Whiskeasy
From: Office of President William Phillips, Salzland

My Dear Friend,

We are heartened to hear that you are willing to stand with us in these dark and trying times. We await word from Galsia indicating that they will begin evacuating their troops from Tschvale, and remain hopeful that a peaceful conclusion may be reached in this crisis. Should the use of force be required to restore Tschvale to its status as a free and independent nation, we are glad that Whiskeasy will fight alongside us.

Thank you, my friend.

William

From: Office of the President
Subj: Humanitarian Reponse

As an alliance which strives for peace, we find the gross misconduct on the part of the Galsian government to be worrisome in the extreme. While regional conflicts are generally considered to be no business of ours, the circumstances in this case warrants a more forceful response on our end to ensure that the people of Tschvale are shielded from arbitrary Galsian aggression and the Galsian record of human rights abuses.

To safeguard the lives of these people and restore stability to the region, the Oceanic Defense Coalition will be deploying to Tschvale a large contingent of ODEFOR peacekeepers in addition to humanitarian workers and observers to ensure that Tschvale does not suffer the same fate as states invaded by Galsia in the past.

Sincerely,

OOC: I'll post the ORBAT, but I haven't quite decided how many men we'll be sending. Stevid will take over the naval movements from here on out, so I won't steal his thunder on that front.

FROM: Imperyr Anemonei, Officyr Divinitae Kaersatei (Anemonian Empire, Holy Office of War)

The Holy Empire of Anemos Major announces its intent to send peacekeeping forces into the nation of Tschvale. These forces will be independent from the Anemonian complement in ODECON peacekeeping forces. If Anemonian personnel are attacked while on Tschvalean land by troops of the Imperial Galsian Armed Forces, the Holy Empire of Anemos Major will retaliate by invading the Empire of Galsia using all assets in our hands. The Holy Empire of Anemos Major will not acknowledge such unprovoked actions against a nation like Tschvale. In addition, please be aware that, due to the Galsian treatment of their people and their colonies, the Holy Empire of Anemos Major's Holy Council of Imperial Affairs has authorised the potential use of nuclear weapons. We will not use them if we do not have to, but if we do then we will not relent.

You have been warned. If you fear the Anemonians as you rightly should, then you will stop these foolish actions at once.
