Congressional Bill E-13.9 (ATTN: A045, Boothby)

After years of lobbying congress to expand Merkonian borders and extend its commercial reach progress had been made.
Congressional Bill E-13.9 states that, “Exploration and expansion into unrecognized foreign territories by commercial enterprises was deemed legal. Furthermore, government funding and supplying of said companies shall be guaranteed for the next fifty, 50, years.”
With this statement of approval the Psychlum based company ‘Komanding Inc.’ began mobilizing a military force to move on the Falkland Islands Territories. This morning the first of Komanding Inc.’s vessels approached the islands.

7:35am
Aboard the ND-10 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=580607)’s the deck operators were preparing for the launch of 2 Ch-1t (http://z13.invisionfree.com/Chazakain_Storefront/index.php?showtopic=18) helicopters. Corporate Special Forces were the passengers and would be the first Merkonians sent to combat since the 1974 civil war. The squad’s primary objective was to establish perimeter on the northern island around the village of Katerisct; secondary objective was to eliminate all hostile threats.
Prior to the invasion corporate sponsors had been sent to the village and had established a friendly relationship (paid off) with the locals. LZ expected to be green.
7:54am
“Parent-Zero this is One-Four, approaching destination 1000 meters, over.”
“Roger that One-Four, proceed as scheduled.”
The co-pilot turned in his seat and motioned three-zero seconds with his hands, the Special Forces sergeant nodded to confirm and passed the message to his colleagues.
“It’s a god damned shanty town down there!” One of the soldiers tried to yell over the sound of the props. “I guess that’s why were here huh?!” he said with a big grin while loading his AVIR Model III (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=578897).
Unknown to the soldiers inside the helicopters the locals had betrayed them. Inside one of the huts facing the landing zone was an aged quad .50 Caliber anti-aircraft gun waiting for the perfect moment to unleash its hell. Along with that 300 Falkland Natives armed with Ak-47’s, G-3 Assault Rifles and RPG-7’s hid among the local population.
7:56am
The constant crackling of gun-fire enveloped the village and surrounding areas. The five members of One-Four that rappelled prior to the ambush were trying to protect their fellow comrades who were mangled inside the chopper. Seconds later Two-Eleven, the second Ch-1t, was seen engulfed in flames careening out of control above the skies of Katerisct.
“Oh god” said on of the soldiers pointing skyward, “The other birds going down.”

6:20am - 75km ssw of the Falklands
The only illumination in the blue wash predawn of the antarctic came from the decks of the CMS Cyprus, CMS Hickory and CMS Raptor (see link (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=14430275&postcount=19)). Ten minutes before general reveille found the bridge of the CMS Cyprus smelling of instant coffee, which mixed with the artificial heat and humidity of the ships ventilation system, and the slow glow of the control lights caused those about to go off their night shift to nod.
A crackle on the com-link from CMS HQ back on the 'mainland' - "CMS Cyprus... this is CMS HQ. Stand by to receive transmission and confirm..."
A machine at Communications Ensign LeClerk's station hummed to life and began to extrude the transmission in print form. LeClerk lifted the printing message and glanced over it... "FOR LEVEL 5 EYES ONLY"...
LeClerk confirmed with CMS HQ and picked up the direct line to Captain Aucoin's cabin...
7:30am - 20km ssw of the Falklands
The trio of ships was running at full gate and had been for the better part of an hour. Captain Aucoin stood on the bridge of the Cyprus and watched the islands in front of him grow ever larger.
Those boys are a long way from home... if intel. is correct and they are Merkonians, the Captain thought to himself. He let his mind relax and wonder, trying not to scrutinize the orders he and his fellow Captains had received. He did not like this business... not one bit. But even at the rank of Captain one had to obey orders.
8:11am - Falkland Sound
The Cyprus and her running mate the Hickory were plowing hard through the waters of the Sound. The CMS Raptor had split from them as ordered and was sweeping northward now around Clam Head and the southern tip of the west island.

8:21am
The Village of Katerisct was in flames. The 3 remaining Corporate Special Forces members had counted 26 explosions which they assumed were from the Z-02 (http://z13.invisionfree.com/Chazakain_Storefront/index.php?showtopic=11)'s flying above. The gunfire had virtually ceased, whether the bombs had killed the enemy fighters or they had simply gone into hiding. The one thing the soldiers knew for sure was that the explosions were moving farther and farther away.
In the dimly lit hut that was seeping with beams of light from bullet holes the soldiers were planning out what to do next.
"We have to move." Corporal Stevens said to the sergeant, "If they don't get us our own planes will."
Sergeant Greene sighed in contemplation, "I don't kn..**Nearby explosions rocked the hut** We need to move south to the radio tower, inform them of whats happened."
Meanwhile aboard the ND-10 "Phantom" the radar operator was picking up vessels moving throughout the islands and transferring the information along to the Tartarus Carriers.
The radio operators were given permission to try and raise communications with the unidentified vessels. Each was sent the same message...
"Unidentified vessel this is the Komanding Incorporated destroyer Phantom, you are trespassing on corporate territory, state your business or prepare to be dismissed."
8:34am
The three soldiers had been dodging from block to block for almost a kilometer, they could see the radio tower on the hill ahead of them.
Sergeant Greene came running up and slammed into the wall, he was the last of the three to transition, patting Private Summers upon arrive giving him the go ahead to move to the next location. Immediately Summers took off towards the next alley entrance, Corporal Stevens 10 paces behind. Stevens was the first to spot the group of men at the end of the street, immediately rounds began to fly in both directions. Once hell broke loose Stevens took off beating Summers to the alley, both arrived only frightened by the encounter. Stevens immediately headed towards the other end of the alley to find an escape route when an RPG round struck the wall opposite to Summers. He was a mess, shrapnel from the round had struck him in the face and torso, virtually killing him instantly.
At this point Corporal Stevens and Sergeant Greene were separated. Their only choice was to hope that they would reunite at the radio tower four kilometers ahead.

Aucoin handed the communique back to ensign LeClerk and nodded, "Ensign, send the prepared message to the Phantom."
LeClerk placed the communique on his station for filing and punched in the messaged prepared an hour earlier by Captain Aucoin.
it read: "To the Captain and crew of Phantom, you are trespassing in national water of the House of Boothby. In accordance with our rules of engagement we have informed you of your position within our domestic waters. Additionally at this time you are ordered to plot a course north north east of your current position.
This communique will serve as your first and final warning. You will respond to this message upon reception. You will likewise conduct yourself in accordance with its dictate, and respond upon adopting your new heading.
HOB ships will escort you at a distance of 15 NM until you have cleared our waters."
The message was stamped with the HOB CMS coat of arms and signed by Aucoin.

Aboard the Phantom...
"Captain this just came through from one of the unknown vessels"
The Captain read over the communique and grinned. "Forward this to Head Quarters in Psychlum, keep it on record, apparently our guests are from the House of Boothby."
"Send this reply to the HOB vessel in 10 minutes, no later cadet: Welcome to the Falkland Islands."
"Understood sir, it will be taken care of."
Captain Surogu immediately contacted the Tartarus Carrier 'Tomorrow' to send six Z-02's to intercept and nullify the naval threats. He then notified all fleet vessels to go on full alert.
8:30am
The air and sea invasion force began to mobilize towards the northeastern coast of the eastern island. 14,000 men were to establish a beach head and secure Komanding Incorporated commercial territory along the coast. ETA 24 minutes.

Captain Aucoin held the print out of the message from the Phantom. His brow arched in an expression of sarcasm, his eyes twitched, but he caught himself before rolling his eyes in front of Ensign LeClerk and the rest of the Bridge.
"Ensign, forward the received message to our running mates. Include the following dication: 'CMS Cyprus to CMS Hickory and CMS Raptor. The above message was made in response to CMS article ROG-a2 communique with the Phantom. Continue to follow ROG checkdowns and C&C M.O.s - C. Aucoin'
When you have sent that forward all communiques to Zembella.
Then, send the following to the Phantom: 'Hail received, assume dictated heading and confirm by order of the House of Boothby Coastal and Marine Service.' "
When Aucoin had finished with the Ensign he crossed the Bridge to his second in command, "Mister Clark, if you please, flash the boys."
The second complied, activating a glowing orange switch. A moment later red alert lights silently flashed on all decks giving the 'all hands' signal.
10:00 am
"Sir, we have reports of fighting in the southern islands, are tracking division has also report the lost of several trackers over the past few hours."
"Heh, so someone is usually our equipment after all, may as well send some messages."

Re: Fighting in the southlands
Your military has already fought many a battle already this morning, the courage of Corporal Stevens and Sergeant Greene will become legendary, outnumbered they challenged the betrayers and traitors in
the Southlands to warn their brethren of these vile treasonous actions, losing many of their men but they kept on. Their courage was comparable to Sergeant Thomas at P-XO2 holding off the alien horde so his teammates could survive and fight another day. We would like to help you increase your military from patrol boats to tanks and armored transports...

54km from the CMS Cyprus and CMS Hickory
"Fleet this is flight wing Europa-Niner, we are due to arrive at target in Four-Five seconds over."
"Roger that Europa-Niner, proceed as directed."
With that order the four craft flight group was divided in half, two aircraft were assigned per vessel.
The same order was passed along to flight wing Europa-Six who was 64km from the CMS Raptor.

Captain Aucoin scanned the AN/SPS-49 display along with his Sensors and Processing Ensign. The Merkonian fighters had broken article ROG-d7, and in doing so set off an chain reaction of protocols that Aucoin himself no longer controlled.
"Ensign, contact the Hickory and Raptor, ROG-d7 breached."
The Ensign complied quickly, his training not allowing the lurch in his gut from hindering his progression through the duty.
Aucoin nodded to his Master at Arms, "they sow the wind, now let them reap the whirlwind."
8:37am
Gunnery Sergeant LaFoe tracked tango designation mer-a1 on his MK92 heads-down display. The light on his dash blinked once...twice... before the third strobe he had deployed a SM-1MR surface to air missile. The SM-1MR's dual thrust engine roared in unison with its three mates (one from the Cyprus and two from the Hickory) as they gained speed approaching their targets.

[ooc: How many missiles did you fire? Reading it I initially thought 4 but the parenthesis made me play on 3.]
8:37am
The worst sound a pilot could hear was blazing in Europa-Niner's ears. Moments later the impact of the SM-1MR knocked the pilot unconscious, the plane splitting in two. Within the second two more of flight wing went down in a blaze.
The fourth pilot hesitated, he didn't hear the incoming missile tone, nor could he hear any radio communication from his flight wing. He frantically looked around hoping desperately to see the automatic parachutes from the ejection seats but none were visible. His stomach sank but quickly filled with anger. He violently rolled his aircraft right and put it into a dive, arming his AGM-84's for their departure. When the tone sounded he let loose the two missiles, hit his afterburners and tried notifying fleet and the CMS Raptor mission wing of what happened.
8:50
For the last fifteen minutes Sergeant Greene had been trying to move from building to building as quietly as possible so as to evade the growing number of fighters on the streets. He knew they were close-by, he could hear them laughing, talking and firing off rounds in the air just on the other side of the run down concrete houses he was sneaking through. Up ahead he could hear the fighters kicking in doors and yelling at the families cowering inside, he knew they were looking for him.
He decided this was it, he was going to have to fight them here. He checked his AVIR's magazine sighing at the lack of ammunition. They moved closer. Greene watched as the mob moved past his particular house's dusty window towards the door. "It was time" he told himself. Moments later a bright flash overwhelmed him.
8:52am
Corporal Stevens hadn't stopped running since the alley incident when he saw a Z-02 come screeching overhead. The explosion from its bombs seconds later shook his entire body, but he continued moving up the hill "I'm within a kilometer of the tower." he kept telling himself, "From there I can reconnect with Greene and get the hell out of here."

8:37am
HMS Hickory
Seaman FC Menard crossed the deck of the HMS Hickory quickly, but not quick enough. When the SM-1RMs had blasted off the roar of their engines had nearly blown out his ear drums. Now as he scuttled back from checking the Seawasp he had been servicing (a job he should have been done with before the Hickory left port) the Hickory's Mark 36 Super Rapid Blooming Offboard Chaff system was deployed. The sound of the canons was terrible, but brief.
A thunderous roar propelled the chaff skywards. Menard was on his stomach, his ears were ringing, he had forgotten to take his ear blast guards (a requirment for all on deck crew) with him when he went to service the Seawasp. Mendar reached up to check what the warm wet sensation was on his cheek. His hand came back red, wet, and warm...
The chaff from the Mark 36s was flung up and outwards from the Hickory, a second later a similar blast went up from the Cyprus. The sky was be-speckled with dark plumes of smoke and debris.
Menard was now on his knees, looking down in disbelief at his bloodied hand. A flash in the sky caused him to wrench his head upwards. It was one of the two Merkonian missiles, the decoy launch had worked, and the missile had collided with an exploding cloud of debris, erupting harmlessly over the South Atlantic.
The second missile fared better. It appeared to the reeling Menard as a flash, tailed by an ever growing tail of white cloud. The missile struck the main deck of the Hickory, near the port side rail.
Menard had been kneeling not more then 15 feet from its impact site. His body was instantly engulfed in vapor and flame and hardly existed long enough to be shredded by the shrapnel set loose from the blast.
A fire ball erupted skyward from the Hickory...
HMS Cyprus
Gunnery Sergeant LeFoe acquired the signature of mer-1b on his display just as the enemy rocket exploded into the Hickory. LaFoe did not hesitate, another SM-1RM was sent screaming from the deck of the HMS Cyprus towards the banking Merkonian fighter.

There it was, the pilot thought to himself, the sound he had been waiting for. He immediately pitched his aircraft right releasing chaff and flares behind him praying for safety, but the tone continued. When the explosion occurred he didn't even give time to asses the damage, he reached down and pulled the eject lever launching himself skyward. Barely staying conscious from the pull of the G's of being ejected from his flaming wreck.
He was a distance from shore, the frigid waters below him consistently reminding that he was not likely to make it home.
8:42am
Hearing what happened to the four fighters sent to intercept the other ships the wing assigned to take out the CMS Raptor went on high alert. These ships had the capability of firing off SAM missiles, extreme precautions had to be taken to insure their survival.
Europa-Six and Europa-Two discussed what could be done to increase mission success and they had come up with a multi-system attack. Both fighters would align perpendicular of the ship and fire off their twin AGM-84 missiles prior to making a steep near ocean dive to make a pass at the ship with their 25mm cannons.
Both pilots nodded to each other in agreement prior to breaking formation for the attack.
9:01am
Corporal Stevens had reached the top of the hill and the radio tower tactically assessing the installation, but wondering where Sergeant Greene was. There was no sign of him anywhere. It didn't matter, there wasn't time for wondering, he had to inform the invasion fleet of what happened.
He approached the rear door of the tower, preparing himself for the solo mission. Kicking down the door he immediately let off two shots leaving the young man behind the radio slumped forward, turning to his right he saw another man jump from his seat. Two more shots left the man leaning against a worn down filing cabinet. At this point he could hear people shuffling around upstairs, without hesitation Corporal Stevens began moving up the stairs. Dropping one, then another, then another, when all was finished four men lay dead upstairs. Moving back downstairs to access the radio the Corporal encountered a beautiful young woman who had been hiding since his arrival. They looked at each other, she was terrified but said nothing, without remorse Stevens let off two more shots and the woman slumped over herself, falling to the ground. There was only one rifle in the radio tower and that was Corporal Stevens, but this wasn't the time for heroics or honor, there was no trusting the local populace anymore. There was only trust in the Corporation.
