Another election had run smoothly in the Great Plateau Cities. The Senate had faced a major shift in power, and a new head of state had been elected. It had been a landslide victory for Irene Milano, defeater the current head of state Lord Arthur Rango. The people were sick of his socialist economic policies, and his closing off of communication from the outside world. Him, along with his predecessors, had managed to keep the cities cut off for decades. Irene intended to change all of that:

She sat down in the chair of her new desk, now longer Irene but Imperial Lady Irene, head of the republic. As her eyes wandered around her magnificent marble office, she spun her chair around to look out the enormous window to the ground below. It was a sunny day, perfect for a new start.

A new start.

Irene quickly used her intercom and asked for her official scribe. A young man walked in with a laptop in his arms. He sat down in one of the comfortable chairs to the right of the desk and opened it, hands on keys. He did this all silently.

The Lady Spoke.

The Scribe typed rapidly.

After her oration, the lady stopped and said to the scribe "Thank you. Now, please wire this internationally."

And the Scribe did.

Greetings World,

During these previous decades, the previous officials before me have insisted on a closed door policy, and have caused us to become secluded. Seeing all of the negative reprocussions of this, the people of this republic elected me, so I could end these policies. And so I shall. I wish to open the republics doors to the rest of the world, and so, I invite ambassadors and leaders of the great nations of the world to a banquet, as to start our relations. Please let my administration know ASAP. Thank you.

"Well?" The Lady asked the scribe?

"No foregin messages yet, my lady" The scribe replied.

"Very Well, you may depart. Send word when we receive any responses"

The scribe headed to the doors and the servants opened them to let him out. At the same time of his departure, Vice Imperial Lord Jasper Crane entered. Irene's right hand man walked in and sat down.

"Hello Jasper. I've enacted my first act as imperial Lady and extended an invitation"

"Are you sure about this? Are we ready to take on something this big just as our administration is starting?"

"Yes, I think we are. If we start early, we'll make many friends these next 4 years"

What does that mean? (I don't know much of my forum slang :P)

OOC: What he means is, is your nation modern tech (now, plus maybe 10 years into the future), post-modern (I have no idea, probably 50 years into the future) or future tech (much, much farther into the future, like Star Trek, or Star Wars technology). From the tone and word choices of your post, I'm going to assume MT?

"Hmm... another new nation." Prime Minister Ashton Butler sighed. "They're appearing like weeds."

"Yes, and not many stick around," continued Foreign Affairs Minister Robert Ochiv, carrying a written copy of the address from the Imperial Lady. "I'll go, sir."

"No, we need you here, at least for right now, to attend any real diplomatic events. Send that one new diplomat, we'll see how they do."

"Of course, sir." Robert smiled. "So... are you going to go to the track day at the raceway?"

"Duh! Those Porsches and Lamborghinis won't stand a chance against my Aston Martin." Ashton cracked a smile. "But back to business. Send some sort of standardized reply, the whole thing, you know."

"Of course, your Most Right Honourableness, sir," said Robert, making a false bow and leaving to the slight chuckles of the Prime Minister.

North Defense:

We are sorry to hear about your radiation issues and trading problems. We would love to be in a trade agreement, but right now, since our nation is atop a plateau, the only method to get stuff on or off is by flight. We hope to purchase a sea port soon,and we will attempt railways that can descend the steep hills (we have a extensive domestic railroad) but for now our trade is limited as well. We invite you to come to the Gala to speak of this more and in greater detail.

Trade would be welcomed, but we do not have an accurate transportation system off of the plateau yet. Once that is established, we will notify you and other trade interested nations. As for an embassy, if you give us the link to your embassy thread, we would be happy to apply for one, and we will notify you when we have our embassy thread set up.
