After years in isolation the Republic of North Libertra would like to announce itself to the world, what follows is a brief description of our proud nation and an invitation to open an embassy in our capitol.
Politics of North Libertra
Libertra is a democratic republic with a president filling the role of head of state and head of government, presidential elections are held every four years, the winner of such elections is determined by simple plurality on a national scale.
The legislature of Libertra is the National Assembly of North Libertra, this is made up of 600 seats, all of which are elected via proportional representation every four years (at the same time as the presidential elections).
The current dominant party of the National Assembly and the party that President Thomas Burridge belongs to, is the Libertarian Party, The party is strongly commited to free market capitalism and personal freedom. The current government has only legislated in areas of law and order, foreign policy and vital infrastructure.
The Libertarian party is opposed by the Democratic Socialist Party who follow a hybrid Socio-Capitalist Idealogy, they support capitalism but argue for a strong government role in welfare, healthcare and education. The third party in North Libertra is the Libertra National Party, they are an extreme right party that is both socially and economically conservative. In addition to the Nationals there is a small but growing extreme leftist political party called the Marxist Party of North Libertra.
