The Valiant is exploring sectior 003, we've catogloged twelve stars so far in this sector and are moving on to the next star.

<Captains Quarters>

Elizabeth finished writing her log and put the pad down. She stood and went over to the replicator, getting herself a steaming coffee. The Valiant was at warp 3 and was heading to the next star to catolouge it. So far there had ben no contact with any other ships since first contact. It was quite.

<Bridge>

Jenny was on bridge duty. She looked around as everyone got about their jobs, and talked quietly between themselves. Jenny was looking forward to when they found another inhabitated planet and someone to meet.

Unnamed system, 3rd planet from the sun:

Three months, that's how long the observation platform had been in place before the system was officially marked as Greywatch territory and the planet was marked for colonization. The only thing that had passed through the system had been a few supply ships and the occassional landers carrying explorers and scientists. It was only two weeks into the actual colonization process but the system was already showing major development. Beacons had been set up, the local asteroid belt was being readied for mining, several orbital posts were being constructed... this system showed some real promise. There were a handful of heavier warships around, mainly around the planet; other parts of the system were being patrolled by scouters and small frigates.

Surface:

The planet hadn't received a name yet, no one had really been bothered to come up with one. It didn't matter too much, the world was still a beautiful one. Two massive oceans took up a good 60% of the planet while seas were scattered about here and there. Much of the landmass belonged to the three continents while some large islands could be found to the far north and south. A Worldstarter had touched down on the largest continent, the 40Km behemoth carried all the supplies and colonists needed to set up a fully operational city within a year. While colonists were still living on the ship, a special building technology combined with several droids worked 24/7 to set up the primary structures that would be needed to maintain a city. It had been hard to locate a large, clear area to land the ship but the Greywatchers managed. The first people from the ship to walk the surface were the Pathfinders, they explored the immediate area in more depth than the explorers before them. They worked to locate resource deposits, interesting landmarks, and to study the wildlife in more detail. They could spend months in the field doing their jobs diligently. Of course, after two weeks, things were already beginning to shape up. Basic infrastructure was first; water and power were the foundations for everything else. Chances were it would still take another week or two before everything was cleared for the first residences to be established.

Orbital Station:

The man running things on the station wasn't actually a man at all. It was a Drone, an FM Drone to be exact. With the system becoming a little more chaotic, it was best to have things run by someone who didn't require eat or sleep. The command center was mostly quiet, only a few officers sat around to monitor the system onboard, to keep watch for anything entering or exiting the system, and to document reports. The Drone looked over the large holoscreens before turning its attention to a small datapad at its side. All was quiet, just like any other day.

Orbital Station:

An officer sat in his chair, quietly reading his holonovel while looking up every few minutes to make sure everything was in check. Suddenly, a beeping sound began to come from his console, he looked up for a brief moment to see what it was, suprised that his console was telling him of unknown contacts. He quick put his novel to the side and sat up straight. Holoscreens came up almost immediately, showing the two foreign energy signatures on the edge of the system. He turned around only to see the Drone already standing behind him, "Ah! Uh, sir," he turned back around to the screens, "we have two contacts, alien ones. Both are sitting just outside the system, judging by their positioning and signature differences, I believe they're two serperate races." The Drone looked over the information being presented, "Forward this to Prime." The Drone then looked to another officer, "Open a channel to both, audio only."

Unidentified vessels, you are entering Greywatch territory. Please state your names, from where you hail, and your purpose in being here.

"Sir, one ship has responded. Also, we've recieved orders from command, forwarding to your datapad." The Drone looked down at its pad and began looking over what was presented, "Open another link, make this one to the Valiant specifically, I'd like this to be private."

Very well, captain. If you wish, you may move forward. Attached to this message is a location for your ship to dock at our station. We look forward to meeting with you or your designated diplomat.

"Sir, another message coming in, this one from the other vessel. Playing now." The Drone nodded to this message, unphased by its simple-minded hostility. It thought the message over for a moment, "While I'd like to ignore them, I can't break protocol. Open a channel to them, please."

I'm sorry your not familiar with such a term, I simply mean to state that you're on the edge of our territory. Contrary to the usual minimum fuss of Klikiss ships appearing from no where this one could be detected heading at a slightly bizzarre speed involving he bending of space and time around a particular type of drive. Also unlike normal Klikiss ships which were by nature of their Hive Minds, collosal, and secondly obviously ungainly, this one was relativly small, perhaps passing for a large personal luxery vessel, a submarine shaped vessel with a similar tower protuding up from the rear plated in a white material. Also unlike Klikiss vessels this one was pumped full of water.

"Activate secondary propulsion systems" A drone orded from it's dome like containmment sphere as the jellyfish like Phale A'Theins swam around it, interfacing with the controls to decrease the ships speed as it entered the system. "Now switch to auxillary power." The Phale A'Theins obliged as the ship dropped down to more "relative speeds", they continued to follow protocals, the Drone not interested in commenting unless they did something wrong, it was here to instruct, not teach, two different things.

One has detected unknown vessels exchanging unaccessible communications

The translation rumbled through the Drones speakers, as it toyed with the translation box awaiting for a response from a Domate located across the galaxy which did the thinking for it, "Continue scans, watch and observe, watch and observe..."

The vessel drifted forwards, noticable but unobtrusive, although adorned with dozens of emblems relating to the Phale A'Theins Klikiss heiroglyyphs cold be easily made out on the bare parts of the ships more aesthetic oriented surface.

A message was put through to the Valiant:

Valiant, please deactivate engines and be prepared for AG clamps, we're bringing you in now. Doors are on standby and boarding tunnel will be extended momentarily.

Once the ship was close enough, AG beams would bring it into the corrent position and clamps would hold it in place. A breif scan had to be made in order for the proper entranceway to be found but after everything was squared away, the tunnel was extented and pressurized. The Drone tapped its datapad, forwarding orders to other parts of the station. Another message was put through to the Valiant:

Docking successful. Feel free to board, we'll have someone waiting for you.

On the other side of the tunnel waited a Leanorian accompanied by a single guard. The Leanorian stood tall, waiting to greet the newcomers, his tail flicking back and forth with anticipation. He was a older Leanorian, at least in his 60s, but because Leanorians lived longer than humans, anyone looking at him might mistake him for only being 40, if that. His golden fur shimmered in the light, he wore traditional, white, clothing as opposed to the typical Greywatch uniforms. He stroked his man slowly, looking to the guard, "Looks like we're going to have some company." His voice was deep and gentle, the guard nodded, lifting up his visor to reveal a human face. "Yeah, galaxy's a small place."

The Phale A'Theins had stopped their usual form of communication, via the form of electrical bursts and chemicals, and instead were using their equivilant of the ships onbaord instant messaging service popular throughout their society to have a group discussion.

We are to wait and observe? Not at all constructive in the scheme of things

Precisely, advancement is made through risk, logic simply slows the process down

These Klikiss seem to believe in foward planning rather than spontaneous, yet rewarding action

What can you expect of ones more hive minded than a Jeyk Stra'St?

One could expressive humourous pleasure if done in person

Then insert an indication of thought in the message

Such as?

Like ...

One sees...
There we are, we were?

One was approaching possibility of self determination

Quite so, shall we proceed to?

Yes

Certainly

Agreed

With that they fired away a commmunication to all vessels in the system;

"Peace and good will from the ones of the Phale A'Theins on board the vessel of Tides Of Change. We inquire as to who those of the other vessels may be as we extend greetings from across the stars"

Switching back on their end of the Klikiss translator they happily imformed the Drone of what they had done, the Drone simply passed the equivilant of a sigh, "Your sentience, not mine."

"Pleased to meet you, let's procede to the conference room." With that the Leanorian led the group through the well-lit, white corrodors of the station. A brief ride up one of the closest lifts provided a clear view of the planets surface, a mass of browns, greens, reds, blues, and white. After exitting the lift the group arrived at the conference room, a large enough room with a table and plenty of seats in it. The windows at the end of the room provided a view into the vastness of space. The guard to his position at the door while the Leanorian took a seat at the head of the table. "Please, seat yourselves if you wish." Once everyone was seated he began again, "So, explorers are you? Is this your first time so far away from home? Its always nice to meet a new race among the stars."

"Sir, we have another un-IDed vessel, it just entered the system and is closing in, they've already messaged us." The Drone sighed, "Well at least they're outright and polite. Open a channel. Private."

The Phale A'Theins received the message, translating it into their own electrical impulse exchanging communication;

Tides of Change, you are tresspassing on space claimed by the Greywatch Empire. If you could please cease your forward movement and tell us from where you hail, it would be much appreciated.

These ones sound urgent yes?

Perhaps, more direct one would say

Although more polite and accomadating towards the end

The inclusion of an acceptance at the end?

Quite so

The Drone which had listened to the Greywatch message directly and could pick up on "human" tones knew all too well what it conveyed, "Direct and to the point but polite" the Drone butted in, somewhat annoyed by the Phale A'Theins abstract conversations. Deciding to not inform the Phale A'Theins of how he was already aware of Greywatch, instead interested to see how they handled it.

Together we knew that, a Phale A'Thein whos name equated to Snah Hei Barst replied, flicking a series of appendages at the Klikiss dissmisivly; as they moved off to compose their response and obligingly switch of their engines and halt their forward motion the Drone personally formed a basic question as to why his kind had decided to lift the Phale A'Theins onto the galactic stage.

Claimed, but not owned? One must enforce such a thing or have a reason if it is devoid of personal material construction; nonetheless, together we are sure you both have reasons and the means to enforce a claim. We have deactivated our engines as you directed and halted our forward motion.

We are the Phale A'Theins, originating from the majestic oceans on the world of "Traai'Haai'Heei'zet" (OOC: Coming out as a continuous musical sound rather than a word, names of the Phale A'Theins are equated as tunes). One is here with companions on a training course in the control of interstellar space craft, ones name is Saigh' Etz' Zzz. What of yourself?
Greywatch
22-01-2009, 00:32
This depends on your definition of, or how you choose to use the words, 'claim' and 'ownership,' does it not? I believe what you're questioning me on is the development and use of the 'Basic' language. However, such things are not my primary concern; I thank you for ceasing your forward movement and a report of your presence has already been sent to my superiors. On their orders, and due to your cooperation, I invite you to join the other ship for diplomatic talks if you see fit. As to your inquiry of my name, I do not have one. I am simply a Drone, if you wish to identify me as something other than that, you may call me commander.

"Sounds like quite the place, perhaps in the future I'll be able to see it for myself. Well, Greywatch is an empire that houses several races. Because of this, it varies depending on one's location. There are six races: the humans, the Dragon-kin, the Elden, the Kiixori, the Xarniosi, and the Leanorian. For the most part, everything is reletively peaceful and all the races manage to work together in order to maintain that peace and make Greywatch stronger. Several ministries and companies that work along side one another to maintain the various areas of interest such as science, medicine, expansion, etc. The capital planet is by far one of the most populated and diverse areas in the empire, which is understandable as it serves as the hub of all activity, especially when it comes to politics. The Phale A'Theins received the Drones message and set their course for the orbital space station whilst conversing lightly about the Drones message, which struck them as being laced with an off hand philisophical reply, possesing the question back at themselves; they agreed on it being a superb start to relations.

As the Tides Of Change approached the space stations entrance a mid-rear section, to which the cylindrical tower was attached, rotated ninety degrees counter clockwise clockwise; built into the end was a large hatch. Making it clear that this was the doorway they allowed themselves to be taken into the Greywatch station and secured as necassery.

A few minutes passed, a series of clunks, hums and whines could be heard; finally the hatch swung open releasing a combination of stale air and steam. As droplets of water fell from the ceiling of what appeared to be a pressurization room it revealed the three Phale A'Theins who had been selected to conditionally represent their government. Three four feet high, water filled glass dome, sat atop a simple three wheeled box like platform. Withen them floated the Phale A'Theins, their long multi coloured tentacles trailing down from their domed transparent heads and laying curled up at the bottom in a pile, evidently being longer than the tank; they themselves were roughly two and a half feet in diameter, blue, black and red structures could be seen withen. Five pairs of small black eyes which were evenly spaced out along the sides of their heads gazed out in all directions, tubular tendrils served as arms for them, a number of which were positioned above control panels in their domes.

Despite their anatomical difference from humanoids they were clearly aware of personal adornment, they had decorative metal bands like bracelets pushed up their tendrils, and different styles of belts just beneath their heads pulled their tentacles together into a more orderly shape, from this belt hung a number of objects. As they awaited for someone to greet them they waited for their eyes to adjust to the light, they reached for monocole and spectacle like items which they possessde to aid them to see.

"Very well," L'Shora tapped the table and brought up a holoscreen and holo-keyboard in front of him. Taking only a minute to finish the request, he quickly sent it through and waved his hand to dismiss the windows. He looked back to Elizabeth, "I've sent a request through, we should have an answer in a few minutes. While we wait, why don't you tell me about your culture?"
------------
AG locks held the ship in place and a tunnel was extended from the second docking point. On the other side waited a human diplomat and a Drone. The two patiently waited on the other side of the tunnel as the group emerged; the Drone did a small beckoning motion in order to hurry things along. The diplomat was dressed in the standard, white uniform worn by nearly all diplomats. Her hair was a bright green color and she wore an eyepatch over one of her blue eyes. The Drone looked like any other; black hair, nails, teeth, eyes, and clothing but deathly pale skin. The three Phale A'Theins rolled forwards, as they did so two small mechanical arms with claws emerged from the box section of each of their threewheeled transports; from withen their glass tanks they could be seen prodding rapidly away at a control panel like a keyboard with some of their tendrils, two of them held spectacle like objects in front of their forward facing eyes, another had simply settled for holding what seemed like a monocle.

The one in the middle of the three, most adorned with personal items, spoke first, the sound eminating from a speaker built into the transport, "Thank you for welcoming us, we are aware this is rather abrupt, but hope to make the best of the situation, ones name is Zaeitz 'Etz Ooo, although you may refer to me as Zaa."
"Ones name is Snah Hei Barst" the one to his right said, "although one is known as Snaezt"
"This ones name is Haa' Eeeh' Izt" the final one to the left added, "simply Haii." As each of them spoke they pulsed with a lumonesence, Zaa recognised what the Drones gesture meant and automatically unhooked a circular device from his belt and assessed it, "Are we keeping this other one from a schedule?"
"Refrain from being direct please" Snaezt added, seeming to show that whilst in containment their own communication didn't work.
"Moving on" Haii interrupted, "forgive them, cultural reponses as you would expect. It is a pleasure to meet you Nika, please, lead us onwards, but do not hesitate to tell us of yourself and your people; we are most interested."

"Very well," she turned to lead them to a conference room that had been set up, "Greywatch is an empire consisting of about seven inhabited systems and several planets. There are six races in Greywatch: the humans, Elden, Kiixori, Xarniosi, Leanorian, and Dragon-kin. The empire is run by a Council consisting of four members, the Elden and the Dragon-kin have a very trusting relationship with the human representative and allow him to represent them while the Kiixori, Xarniosi, and Leanorians have their own representatives." The Drone butted in for a moment, "Mind you the Dragon-kin consider themselves humans, an understandable fact seeing as they were not only created by humans but are human-komodo dragon hybrids; meanwhile many the Elden don't consider politics important since most of them are isolationist in nature and live away from the large cities." Nika looked to the Drone with a bit of curiosity in her eyes as the group entered a lift, "The Dragon-kin aren't too different from you, are they?" The Drone raised an eyebrow, "I don't follow."
"You Drone are bio-weapons, right. Or something along those lines."

"I was just curious..." she looked back to the guests, "Sorry about that tangent... anyway, if you don't mind, would you allow me to hear a bit about yourselves?" At this point, the group was entering the conference room. Nika was taking her seat while the Drone simply took position at the door.

"Interesting. Even though I'm a diplomat, I still prefer a good hunt every now and then, best to keep one in shape. The Kiixori always seem to be ready for a fight and if I remember correctly, they enjoy sparring more than anything else. Dragon-kin and humans have dedicated an entire planet to relaxation and seem to take pleasure in doing nothing. Meanwhile, the Xarniosi are Greywatch's resident workaholic race, something I'vbe always found odd. Greywatch is ruled by the four memeber Council which consists of members from the human, Leanorian, Xarniosi, Kiixori race; the Dragon-kin and Elden choose not to have their own representatives. Council members are replaced through democratic means, their years in office vary depending on their people's satisfaction. As for religion, much of Greywatch tends to hold faith in what we call the fallen gods. Ancient beings, now long dead that have in their death granted us our special powers." A chime went off and a holoscreen appeared, L'Shora looked over the information presented befor eclosing the window. "Well, it seems our request has been accepted. Whenever you feel ready, we can procede to the planet."

"Very well," L'Shora rose from his seat and led the group through the station to the hanger. Upon entering, the group would find themselves on an elevated walkway, their transport sitting a few meters ahead of them, its doors open. L'Shora led the others in the group onboard, it was a fair sized transport, capable of holding at least twenty to thirty people. The pilot looked back at the group as they entered, "We have a few other people coming so we won't be leaving yet." L'Shora nodded and strapped himself in. Two more people entered, both of them fully armored and holding rifles, they sat holstered their weapons and strapped themselves in quickly. A couple of minutes later, a group of technicians and engineers entered the transport, each dressed in white and yellow uniforms and hold datapads in their hands. The last group consisted only of Drones, each of them dressed in black and wielding what appeared to be very powerful sniper rifles. The Drone sat in their own corner of the transport, sayiong nothing to one another as the other group conversed amoung themselves. The pilot looked back at everyone, apparently taking a head count. "Okay, everyone make sure you're buckled in, we're leaving now." With that, the transport seemed to drop for a moment before its engines kicked in, stopping it from falling. The transport began moving forward slowly and then left the station's hanger. Once far enough away, its engines went to full and it began its decent though the atmosphere. The transport shook a little, its shields lighting up a bright white as it entered decended. After about seven minutes, it was decending through the clouds, looking out the windows would provide one with a view of the world below though the Worldstarter was no where to be seen, yet. The transport continued flying hight for another ten minutes and slowly, something came into view. The object began getting bigger as the transport, once again, began to decend. Within a few minutes, one could clearly see the Worldstarter, a behemoth of a ship sitting quietly on the surface of the planet as a city was literally being build around it. The transport first flew over the Worldstarter before decending again and coming back around. The gaping maw of one of the Worldstarter's hangers became clearly visable to anyone looking out of a window and the transport was quick to enter and touch down, with the assistance of several AG nodes. Once the transport was inside and docked, everyone, with the exception of the Drones, got out. L'Shora looked around the immense hanger of the Worldstarter, "Well, here we are." Once everyone was out, several more people boarded the transport and it took off once more. People and droids alike could be seen working diligantly throughout the hanger, several transports were being preped for a long day of work. "As you can see, everything here can be a little hectic on a ship of this size. However, there are several automated systems in place to make everyone's lives a little easier. You'll see plenty of them as we tour the ship."

"We're currently in the Worldstarter's 15th hanger. This is one of the areas transports will land in when delivering people back and forth and its also were fighters are stored in case the Worldstarter is attacked. Despite its purpose, these ships are actually very well armed just in case they accidently end up in a combat situation. Typically we use a blink network if people and supplies need to be ferried back and forth but one hasn't been established yet, at least not between the ship and the station. Of course, you must be wondering what a blink network is, follow me." L'Shora led them all to a pad at one end of the hanger. Once everyone was on the pad, a holoscreen appeared which L'Shora fiddled with for a few moments. Once he was done, the group would find themselves in a lush park, a few people were scattered about here and there as birds flew overhead and several buildings both large and small could be seen not too far away. Above them, sunlight came in through the now transparent 'roof' of the massive vessel. "This is one of the Worldstarter's green areas. These ships are essentially mobile cities and so they have everything you'd find in a normal city: residences, shops, museums and the like. These pads are placed in several areas around the ship to make getting from place to place much easier."

"Six races united under a single government?" Snaezt wondered aloud as he and the other two rolled after Nika and the Drone, "That must be quite an accomplishment if one assumes that you all posses differing cultural traits."
"Certainly, merely from your brief overview the differences seem great and varied, to which race do each of you two belong?" Zaa inquired, gesturing with a tentacle at Nika and the Drone.
"Perhaps it was an acheivement not of a diplomatic nature but of war." Haii added.

The three of them rolled up to the conference table and launched into a description of themselves.
"Well as one can see we are aquatic sentient organisms belonging to the phylum classification Cnidaria. We populate the oceans of our homeworld and have expanded to some of the inland seas also, although technically we are the only truly sentient species as we know of on the planet there are other species ranging from other Cnidarian species and certain Cephalopod's; although as far as we know their intelligence could be more than mere problem solving. The land surface of our world is mostly unknown to us, but seems to range from cold climates to tropical ones.

We have no true government as you would know it. Instead we are classically divided into self governing city states, which are brought under the banner of the Metropolitan-Regional Association which deals with issues that could affect all the city states. Binds us together as it were, although there are a few towns and villages which keep to themselves and pursue a more collectivist aim."

"With regard to society itself" Zaa continued on from Haii, "Ones self is considered to be of utmost importance, as such, expression and opinion are valued most highly, the only law we see fit to hold up is that no one may project their own opinions forcibly onto another or it's effects. Maintaining ones own sense of humility despite their success however is valued highest of all. Our society is mostly tax and support free and engages in pursuits of artistic expression ranging from literature, art and construction. What of your own society? Or is a broad assesment impossible for such a diverse collection of races?"

“Not even I know the exact answer to that. The Worldstarter Project was around before the Leanorians became a part of the empire. I imagine the planning, gathering funding, and drawing up the designs took quite a few years. I don’t want to imagine what constructing such a ship was like before Greywatch acquired advanced replication technology.”
-------------------
Nika smiled, “I would be a human.” The Drone looked back, “And as I stated before, I’m a Cryptic Construct, I have no race.” Nika decided to respond to the mention of war, “Only the Kiixori joined Greywatch through war. We fought them once because of a misunderstanding and quickly united when both our races became the targets of another, mysterious race that we know little about to this very day. After the war, it was decided by both Greywatch and Kiixori representatives that an alliance would be best for the future.” The Drone continued after Nika stopped, “Mind you, the Kiixori were the first alien race Greywatchers came across as both groups inhabit the same home system.”

The land surface of our world is mostly unknown to us, but seems to range from cold climates to tropical ones.
“So you’re exploring space… but you haven’t taken the time to explore the surface of your own planet? Shouldn’t be reverse order?” Asked the Drone.

“Moving on..." interrupted Nika, "Our societies… well I’ll try my best to describe them but it gets a little complicated.” She looked to the three Phale A'Theins and began,
“Well, I’ll start with the Kiixori. The Kiixori are a warlike, insectoid race that inhabits a large, humid planet sitting beyond Greywatch Prime. Much of the planet is swamp, marsh, jungle or desert and there aren’t many large areas of open water. The Kiixori homeworld is occupied by various hives, many of which don’t get along very well which typically places the entire occupying race in a massive, planet-wide war that can go on for decades on end. From what I’ve been able to gather, it is a war for resources though which isn’t too surprising seeing as they re-use and re-cycle just about anything. However, the Kiixori do not use vehicles or ships and instead fight using only the various plasma or melee weapons which they create and regularly salvage after battles. One could say they’ve become very… efficient and conservative as fighters. There planet is also oddly beautiful for one that is in a constant state of war but that’s a subject for later… Kiixori are divided into pre-set ranks of society; basically workers, soldiers, and talkers with several subsections splitting off from those main three. Most Kiixori are either hive-minded to their queen or have a set of ‘basic programming’ which controls their actions. Queens run the show, obviously, and while I’ve heard they can’t talk, they are least aggressive and most diplomatic. The Kiixori are some of the best fighters and tacticians in Greywatch and usually are consulted when there is possibility of war. They are also masters at speed construction, though their buildings aren’t made to have any real visual appeal.
As for the Xarniosi, they are a race of humanoids that have been infected with a mysterious ‘mechanical virus’ of sorts. Due to this, their fleshy forms are converted into machinery as they age and they die once their bodies are completely converted. They’ve been working with Greywatch scientists to find a way to nullify this process but haven’t been able to find anything yet. They are an industrious race that typically shows no emotion but displays obvious fascination with technology of all kinds. They control much of Greywatch’s industrial and research sector, their massive underground and orbital building facilities produce all manners of machinery. They also are excellent programmers and like to take the logical approach to things. They are a race that mainly concerns itself with gathering knowledge, developing technology, and finding a cure for their condition. The Xarniosi consider all beings equal and are always ready to listen to everyone’s opinion, though because they all have a tendency to focus on what is logical, their opinions often don’t vary. They also have the unique ability to bond with any technology they touch. They occupy a volcanic planet in Greywatch’s second system and are the second race Greywatch discovered and took into the empire.
The Leanorians are Greywatch’s most recently integrated race and by far the least developed. They are descendants of the Elden and are well known to be excellent medics and healers due to their supernatural Cryptic abilities. The Leanorians were, and most of them still are, tribalistic in nature and only a few have banded together to come under a form of centralized government. They have a planet-based government that reports to their representative in the Council. Leanorians are typically hunters/gatherers or farmers in nature though ever since the establishment of the capital city, they’ve been expanding past that. However, they still remain a very tradition race with a rigid hierarchy in place. They are strong, prideful, loyal, and religious. Many of them still practice hunting and sparring regularly, even when not at home. They also have some very interesting structures and landmarks such as the various tombs and the Mausoleum.” Nika pause to catch her breath and the Drone decided to take it upon itself to take over.
“You can’t really describe the other three, mainly because humans, like Nika, are a balanced race that has no real main goal. They inhabit Greywatch Prime and most of the other planets in the Greywatch Empire. They are also descendants of the ancient race known as the Elden. Human society is a difficult thing to explain because it really is just a mixture of so many things. It basically comes down to the fact that humans consider freedom very important. Whether you wish to be an architect, an artist, a soldier, an engineer, a spacer, a diplomat, a politician, or any of the other various professions, there will usually be someone so help you accomplish your goal. There are several corporations, guilds, organizations, and ministries to work with or for, all of them influencing society in different ways. There’s also the culture that flows into Prime from the other races of Greywatch, making human society a massive mixing bowl of various influences. I really don’t think there’s much else to say about that. The same goes for the Dragon-kin. Despite their physical differences, they act exactly like humans except that they’re genetically dispositioned to follow orders with minimal questions and they often are very protective of those they see as superiors. In the case of the Elden, those that choose to mingle with humans act like humans. Those that act isolationist… we know nothing about.”
Nika smiled, “Sorry about that being long-winded, hope that answers your question.”

"Why would it be the other way around?" Zaa replied to the Drone, "Adimittedly we know little of the history of other races but for us it made sense."
"One must remember that as an aquatic race we find it difficult to survive in a terrrestrial environment," Hai added, "these transports we use are a by product of a slow effort at exploring the land masses; there simply was not, and is not, a drive to explore further than the routes to a few of the inland seas. Space held more promises and intrigue for us."

Snaezt ignored this exchange of conversation and focused on Nika, listening intently, pausing for a few moments after she had finished he paused and absently played with his spectacles as he glowed with a faint purple tinge, "Certainly it has, unfortunatly it has also opened many others, there is evidently much to take in for both of us." He brought the spectacles up so he held them in front of his two front facing eyes once more, "Your race seems to be filled with mystery and intrigue, certainly down to diversity, or course, humans seem to somewhat of an oddity. Merely in the short space of time we have been exploring space we have learned of human races, most interesting, seems as if humanity is scattered across the cosmos... In anycase we would certainly be interested in a long term aim to understand your kind ore fully; but more of that later. What of your politics? L'Shora led the group back to the blink pad and keyed in a different location. Once again, the group would fin themselves in a different area of the ship, this time in a large hallway with several office doors in it. "I guess building underwater structures full of air is easier than building land-based structures full of water. "Politics are not something I feel I could accurately explain due to the diversity of Greywatch. As for literature, culture, history, and architecture, they are not the highlight of our society but aren't ignored either, at least not in human and Dragon-kin society. Kiixori don't devote much of their time to such things, literature and history probably don’t mean a thing while architecture comes down to if it can offer shelter and protection. They don't care much for the artistic side of anything. The Leanorians in general are fairly good artisans when it comes to weapon-making, clothing, enchanting, and architecture. Their temples are by far some of the most beautiful structures they create. Their writings mainly consist of old scriptures and ancient writings that can be found in museums or ancient tombs. More current day writings would be old folk tales, their history, and the knowledge of Cryption. The Xarniosi’s culture is one based on logic, science, and the gathering of knowledge through whatever means possible. They know little about their own history and have often said they were awakened by our arrival at their world. Their structures are mainly underground ones and while I’ve never seen them in person, I’ve heard they can be quite impressive despite their blandness. Their literature would consist of scientific works, research papers, etc. The Elden are very secretive about their writings and scripture but those who do take up writing as a profession are much like humans. The Elden also have a complex history that hasn’t been completely sorted out. Many of their structures have been destroyed over time or are hidden away. There is very little we know about the Elden since they act human when around any of the other races and don’t often let anyone into their private communities.”

"You should see what our Chief Science Officer back at Hawk Station One face will be whewn we tell him what we saw" Elizabeth grinned "That'll be more than enough"

"Excellent." After leading the group back to the pad they'd come off of, L'Shora put in another location and the group found themselves in the lower areas of the ship. The decks used mainly by maintainance. The halls were a little smaller and not as well lit but L'Shora was able to lean the group to one of the ship-to-surface pads that were used by engineers that wanted to check the progress on the surface. Within a minute the group was on the surface, on a blink-pad that had been set up shortly after the ship landed. Around them were the buildings and roadways that had already been constructed. However, there were several areas were empty pads sat idle. The pads were of various shapes, and were obviously places for future buildings, each one had metallic roots, similar to those of a tree, sprouting out of them and disappearing into the ground. L'Shora led the group to a large pad that was big enough to be meant for a future office building. "This is where the next builing should be constructed if I eard him correctly..." he muttered to himself. After a couple of minutes, chest high walls rose out of the pad to form a perimeter. Then, several components that would be used for the skeleton of the structure began materializing inside the perimeter; on cue, several flying droids swarmed the area and began moving everything where it had to be placed. As the skeletal structure was put together, the building would expanded upwards and inwards seemingly by itself. Walls, floors, support pillars, windows, etc seemed to simply appear where they were needed while the droids only made sure they were firmly in place. Within five minutes, half the structure had been put together. "There you have it, replication."

"You've had dealings with the Klikiss?" Zaa's surprise being conveyed through his speakers, "They were the first aliens which we encountered."
"They provided us with a number of interstellar drives, but disinclined to tell us how they operated before sending a few delegates of ours to their homeworld to have a brief look at their kinds..." Hai trailed off, "Culture isn't quite the right word."
"System of organisation is more the correct term" Zaa finished for him, "they allowed our delegates limited access to their architecture and gave us a few information modules of assorted information. Aside from giving us those few faster than light drives they've been useless, refused our writers, artists, scientists any admittance to their creations. They introduced us to another species which was rather more accomodating; but they closed down contact a while ago, both they and the Klikiss were talking about leaving this universe to another or some such drivel."

"In anycase" Hai said flicking a tendril, "The information we managed to scrape from these two races, mostly history of themselves and other species, showed a trend which is similar to our own only opposite. Most races acheived a level of technology allowing them to explore the oceans but then lost interest once they developed space travel, only returning at a later date or making a minimal effort. "I have seen a few papers which propose such a venture," Hai responded promptly to, "the difficulty of course is finding an investor; at the moment most buisneses are focusing on capitalising on the advancements into space and the government is focusing on trying to assess the situation and prepare for any eventualities from interstellar contact. Also theres transportation to consider, it's either steam power, rocket power or hydrogenships. Ones to slow, the others suicidally unsuitable and the last is not strong enough unless in favourable conditions. Possible electric powered vehicles are mostly limited to these transports we use and a few remotely operated robots; which are themselves by-products of this space development."

"As for electricity itself in our citites" Zaa continued elaborating on the Drones second point, "compared to most races we've observed we discovered electricity significantly early due to our capabilities." Zaa rose two of his tendrils and brought the tips together where a significant spark burst into light between them for an instant, "So we had plenty of time to explore it's properties. In answer to your question, our electrical equiptment is insulated in water tight containers which contain either oxygen or pure water which do not conduct electricity; pure water is prefferred since it avoids complications with pressure.

"Again your, is the correct term nation?, enjoys great diversity." Observed Snaetz happily, "I assume that having many different races with different interests allows you to progress quickly in many fields. Along with official diplomatic relations our various enterprises and centers of learning would simply delight in being able to view, exchange and study your kinds history and literature, and engage in trade where possible. In answer to your question, our electrical equiptment is insulated in water tight containers which contain either oxygen or pure water which do not conduct electricity; pure water is prefferred since it avoids complications with pressure."

"Interesting. Evolution gave you the natural ability to harness electricity. Only other race I know of that managed that was the Elden, at least from the stories I've heard."

But being unable to organise such things myself perhaps we should leave such possibilities for a possibly more official meeting than this chance discovery."

"Yes indeed, with each race working together and seperately at the same time, developments can come rather quickly. I will talk to the Council, I imagine they'll want to organize a proper diplomatic meeting. They'd also be able to handle the issues of trade, information sharing, and establishing an embassy."

"Amazing" Elizabeth commented.
"Scienctists will love us now"

"Glad to be of assistance. Is there anything else you'd like to see on the ship? Our time here is almost up, unfortunantly."

The three Phale A'Theins took in what the delegates said and seemed to wave and flex their tendrils in what could be inferred as the human equivilant of nodding absently if contendedly.

"Cryption, Elden, all of these unknown's between us. Our two people will have quite a task in learning about the differences between our two people." Snaetz sighed, it was apparent that their translators not only had a pleasenter modulation than the Klikiss's cruder translators but they could also take into account items such as attitude and emotion.
"Or at least our kind will have the task of learning about a number of races at once whlilst your kinds just have to learn about one." Zaa commented, "I'm sure our architects and artists will have have a grand time..."

"Certainly yes" Hai continued, "It will indeed be a great embarkment for us, but indeed these are things left to official talks and acts of diplomacy." Hai tapped two of his tendrils together in thought, producing small sparks as he did so. "This one presumes that it would be best for us to arrange official talks yes?"

"We have instructions to follow in the event of planning a meeting between an alien race," Snaetz said, "we've fulfilled step one, but the next phases for the hopeful building of our relations is more subject to what's most... comfortable for each of us. We can either arrange for talks to be commenced on a deep space station built for inter-nation relations, or we could maybe meet on your terms."

"Personally this one would advise on your own terms." Hai advised, "It is not unimaginable to assume that the station would be highly unpleasent for most of your kind. Also we will have to make preperations on our home world to at least make suitable accomodation for you, let alone a suitable embassey if it were to come to that. In short, we are comfortable in our transports, but do not how your kind would feel in cold high pressure water environments."

The Drone nodded, "Yes, your people would have quite the learning experience ahead of them. As for the two things you just mentioned..." The Drone simply lifted its hand and its entire forearm lit up in flame. "Cryption, in essense, is the manipulation of the universe using an ethereal energy which is produced in the bodies of the Elden, the Leanorian, Drones like myself, and a few humans. It allows these formentioned groups to do things that wouldn't otherwise be possible, from small things like creating the diplay you see here, to growing entire forests in an afternoon." The Drone's forearm quickly went back to normal, "The Elden are, to our knowledge, the first biological creatures that devoped this unique ability and they passed it on to the humans and the Leanorians. They look more or less like the average human, they act more or less like the average human. Only difference is that they're old than the nation/empire they now reside in and they all have very developed Crypic abilities, abilities that would make my demonstration look like child's play."

Nika thought for a moment, "I'm sure we can work something out. Drones like this one don't need to breathe and can be modified to survive the conditions of oceans. The only issue would be how they communicate. I suppose it would certainly be something to think about, but nothing that couldn't be figured out with enough time and patience."

"Yes, and disect them to." Snaetz joked.

"Quite so, but this one is sure you'd wish for some of your own people to be there. No offence intended to you good sir." Zaa added to the Drone.
"Perhaps it would be best," Hai continued, "If we arrange for a further meeting on your terms, your territory, if you would allow it, for the initial diplomatic arrangements. When we report back to the M.R.A about the arrangements for such a meeting we can inform them to proceed to make the arrangements for you so your people can live comfortably near the center of our government; like a true embassey."
"Yes, then once the talks have been completed and our diplomatic team returns your own selection of ambassadors and supporting staff can return with us to take residance in the embassey; if that is your desire that is. Knowing the M.R.A's desire to estalbish good relations they will take to great lengths to ensure your people are well cared for; they'll probably send a team of designers along with the diplomatic group just so that they can decorate it in an acceptable manner." Snaetz finished jokingly.
"So what is your opinion?" Hai said, "Shall we arrange for a future meeting between our people on your terms?"

"Once our two nations open up 'proper' relations, I'm sure your people will have every opprotunity to learn about Cryption."

Elizabeth said before turning to L'Shora "I need to get back to my ship, can you direct me back to the shuttle?"

"Very well." Said L'Shora, taking the group back into the ship via blink pad. A brisk walk through the maintainance tunnels took the group back to one of the main blink pads, which quickly delivered everyone back to the hanger they'd originally gotten off in. Within ten minutes time, a small shuttle dropped the group back on the station in orbit. Another brisk walk took the group back to where Elizabeth and her party had first entered the station. "Here we are."

"Excellent, where should we arrange to meet with our respective diplomats in your territory then? Your choice."

OOC: I'm guessing we'll have to set up a new thread. Shall we just start it more or less now or do you want to wait untill you've settled into the other one i'm doing; you seem to be rather pushed at ze moment.

"A shame things much end so abruptly..." Said L'Shora, "Very well, when you have resolved the issue, feel free to come back." He pulled a small device from his pocket and handed it to Elizabeth, "This contains our communication information. Give us a call if you need anything."

OOC: Let's wait for a bit before starting up that other thread, k?
