Prelude[1995, open]

[ While working on my factbook, I had an idea/aneurysm and thought of this. This is the first "civil war" since my nations independence from the USSR. This takes place between the spring of 1995 and late summer of 2002, and while it's open to foreign intervention, in the end the Socialist partisans are the victor. When it's over with, I plan to add it's key moments to the "history" section of the factbook, replacing the crappy description I currently have about it.

The population of my country at the time is about 120,000,000 and the map in my factbook is mostly accurate, save for the following: The southern border extends only to the river, and Drakovia is still a country. The semi-autonomous republic of Urstania and the Republic of Kolgujevska are not recognized as independent regions.

Because my country at the time was a multi-party democracy, you can either RP the political groups and/or it's rebels, your own nation or whatever works for you. ]

Spring, 1995, Veblensk

President Ivanov flipped through his daily paper, reading assorted articles until his computer booted completely. About halfway through a story, he realized that the paper was a day or two old and cursed aloud. He was 4 years into his presidency, and had relatively good approval ratings. "Not bad for the first President.." he'd say. Despite this, a sizable percentage was not fully satisfied, and an even smaller number were not supportive of his new policies.

Petr had studied at a Western school as part of a foreign exchange program in the mid 70's, majoring in political science and law. While the Party had him under surveillance when he was done and returned to his home town, he'd eventually was hired as an ambassador to a neighboring country. When the wall fell, and later the Union, he was recalled. When the small republic of Chernobyl-Pripyat was given independence he had ran in th elections, and won by gaining 38% of the vote.

A knock on his door woke him from a day dream. One of his aides entered the room and told him that a call was on hold for him. He looked at the man, and asked who it was.
"It's the Governor of Treneska. He's got quite a situation on his hands."

After picking up the phone, he said "Sergei, what's your situation?"

The man on the other end, replied, panic stricken "The public demonstration by the 'Red Autumn' group went sour a little while ago. They're burning things, and have overrun the local police station!"

Sergei suddenly had a serious look on his face. "How close are they to the capital building?"

"30 minutes, at most. I think I cou-"

Suddenly shouts are heard in the background. A group of soldiers had driven a BTR-70 into the main lobby and began to open fire indoors at security, while several Red Autumn rebels stormed in shortly after. The local Military headquarters, commanded by General Dityatev, declared their full support for the Red Autumn movement and advanced on the Governor's location.

"Shit! Shit! They're here already! I think all the security are dead, I need to hide"

"Wait, what the hell is going on there!?"

Suddenly a long burst of sub machine gun fire is heard over the phone. One of the rebels turned the Treneska governor and looked at his face. "Tell the boys we got him. Sweep the building for any security units, collect any weapons you find and regroup in the atrium."

The other rebel, noticing the phone was off the hook, picked it up, and said "The Governor is not available, he's filed his resignation papers. Your entire system will soon follow suite you capitalistic dog!"

The other rebel was obviously trying not to laugh, and the one with the phone said "What, I saw it in a film. It was appropriate, no?"

Meanwhile, President Ivanov sat in his office, dumbstruck. "What can I possibly do now, of all times?"

He began typing a request for help, while simultaneously ordering a military operation to take place immediately. He knew in his mind that it would be hard to raise a good force in such short notice, since he had abolished conscription and many of the experienced soldiers were on leave or a part of the rebel movement.

He had then finished the last of the request for assistance, and clicked 'send'.

Re: assistance

Just minutes ago, there was an uprising inside my country by a terrorist group known as the "Red Autumn". They have stormed the capital of one of the administrative districts and killed the Governor, and as of yet have not made any demands, but declared an armed struggle. We are in the process of raising a force to put down the rebellion and will try the members of this group in a court of law, though any assistance is greatly appreciated.
