An over-the-top luxurious yacht skimmed through the narrow bay between Pelican Island and the Merkonian swamplands. To the south shipyards as far as the eye could see, to the north forestry and what looked like the infancy of a large scale bridge project to the island.
A stage had been erected on the bow of the ship days prior to the event; on the stage was simply a podium surrounded by floral arrangements and five men, behind the men were the flags of Merkonia and Chazaka flying in unison. Opposite the stage was seating for fifty and the associated press behind them.
A slim, middle aged man walked towards the podium and cleared his throat as though he was about to begin the speech of his life, “Good morning ladies and gentlemen, my name is Dr. Jon Rollsbach, I am the Secretary of State to this fine nation.” he says while looking around and raising his arms to head height, “I am glad to see you all here today and hope your travels were good. Unfortunately our nations leader has hit a rough spot in his health and wasn’t able to make it to this celebrated occasion today. Our senior officials shall share insight and then cocktails and a mid-morning brunch shall be served.”
One of the two Merkonian’s not talking on stage turned to the other and whispered something; followed by that individual walking off stage and to the aft of the ship. Minutes later the yacht then began to turn around so-as to begin the presentation of the shipyards. “Ah, my time was cut short..” Dr. Rollsbach said chuckling, “..on to my good friend Peter Stummgert, founder and CEO of Komanding Inc.”
The other Merkonian in his late 50’s walked to the podium and shook Dr. Rollsbach’s hand before beginning his talk. “Thank you ladies and gentlemen of course none of this could have been accomplished without our good friends from Chazaka Business Investments, thank you gentlemen, truly.” He said looking in their direction with his hands clasped together. “As you can see *pointing off to the shipyards* there is no limit to what can be achieved with international cooperation in today’s market. Over there is 80 kilometers of pure industry. With the capability of producing 11 large, 23 medium, and 56 small scale vessels at any given time this shipyard will, without a doubt, provide for our great nations for decades to come. Although an eyesore for the time being we are currently building a 6 lane industrial-use bridge *he says while pointing in the direction of the concrete pillars sticking from the water* that will be able to carry materials to and from Pelican Island. *he pauses briefly to drink from his champagne glass* Now on to my colleagues from Chazaka, Mr. Darkrider and Mr. Marx.”
