yup :D. thought i'd throw a little wrench into the works. lol.

Wrench? Not really, fucking random! Holy dog shit on a stick! LMAO!

In reference to the crazy tech Tom was talking about:Telz Immortal Soldiery Research and Development Division:
Project Number: PA,ES-009882-D2
Project Name: Powered Armor, Exoskeleton.
Project Scope: To negate Troop loss due to small arms, shrapnel, and explosive, concussive damages, as well as overcome many different battlefield obstacles.
Project Initial Start Date: 02APR1996
Project Completion Date: Continuous.
Up to date project cost: See Finance Division, reference check# 9088-0399-284-4948-8837 PA
Project Breakdown:
By utilizing Indium fuel cells contained in an armored case to supply almost limitless power and energy the Mark-3 Exoskeleton Powered Armor gives the standard infantryman the power of an entire company at their finger tips. The onboard control systems are integrated with a hyper adaptive A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) that becomes personalized to each system’s user and can be downloaded and uploaded to personal or military computers. Research on pilot to A.I. relations is still under study with a project start date of 08JAN00. The effects are still unknown.
In the interest of further integrating human with machine N.E.R.D.S. were developed. Pilots are implanted with N.E.R.D.S. upon inception into the program. Neuron Electrode Receiver Diode Synapse relays. N.E.R.D.S. technology is carefully designed to be nanite upgradeable and to interfere with the pilot in no way what so ever. Updates through standard physicals and noninvasive transmissions from the N.E.R.D.S. themselves continue to update the individual’s data in the project database for collation with other pilots data for continued updates and continued progress. The newest generations have begun to integrate the A.I. with the N.E.R.D.S has proven successful and is continuing to gather momentum among pilots. The three terabyte drive on board the N.E.R.D.S. makes this a very simple proposition and sustainable with the A.I.’s automatic maintenance systems.

Tom's A.I.'s name is Tink, and she looks like this (http://fc38.deviantart.com/fs29/f/2008/053/2/9/Coloring__Gothic_TinkerBell_by_Deaths_Own_Angel.jpg). That's right, that IS as close to what she looks like as I could find in short notice. I haven't drawn her myself yet so...

Basically the MK3 is a massive system that without the A.I. it's almost impossible to run. The A.I. is a sentient A.I. and is linked directly into his brain and occupies a space there and can have conversations with Tom, even a relationship! Hence the no new thing with Tom's sardonic inner voice, or any voice in his head.

but she's a computer...how can she have a look?

And is THAT the voice u keep hearing?

And you gotta love the completely random stuff. makes life much more interesting :D
Telz

She can be projected 3D as a holograph and when her body is built she can be downloaded into a "Ghost in the Shell" type brain with a functional body.

I'm still here, but what am I supposed to do? It's not like the zombies are attacking or anything. Setting up defenses is boring roleplay, and there's no point in training civilians, as they were taught military skills last roleplay

I may missinterpret your posts Mt. but I'm no where NEAR 101 lol j/k 101.

I got the 1st patient thing from this statement:
When they're little zombification ray went haywire, I was the test subject. My body was vaporized, but my mind had been so radically advanced that it interfaced with the super computers that they had hooked up to me to monitor my vital signs and other signals.

And it just goes south from there. I'll do less assuming and more RPing.

12-02-2009, 02:34
How about if Tom goes back up to the surface and calls Zy over to the Meta force lab and consolidates there, bringing everyone with him. The Suburbias will be back at base, and ask Mt. if you can have a couple more vehicles for the wounded. It's not like they are in short supply, gas might be an issue but, siphoning is always an option. And with the mortality rate the hot wiring wont be necisary because you just have to push the body out of the drivers set and "Ta-da!" keys in the ignition! But you'll only be able to make it to closest 300 meters then you have to push through the car field. Joker lead can cover you for the distance but it's one squad so not a WHOLE lot of cover but it's something. Up to you. That's a lot of people to move but if you want to move it maybe a more secure location if we can access Al's security system, if he even has one. We'll see what Al says about the security system and give you my tactical ideas on the move if you want.

Bunker?

Kagetora;14499750']Holy WTF? A sentient computer?
Hnmmmm... Sentiance is a tad difficult by today's standards...
Hell, even to get one advanced enough to tell bad knock-knock jokes is a tad difficult.
Getting one that can go through pre-programed motions or able to break-down a combat-strategy is considerably easier.
But then rigging her with a manual mind-over-body override isn't exactly the smartest of ideas considering who she's inside. Hopefully that's just graphic-display-interface...

Reminds me of a certain video game...
And it seems more to be a software program and partrition of the brain.

Er... Who here read Deathlock Issue #1? (His later AI apparently appeared initially as a Hindu God that would badger him endlessly; in the older series, well, things would get socially awkward in spite of the fact that the user could code a computer in his sleep...)

Anyways, I wouldn't really call it so much a "relationship" as dual-schizophrenia...

Shudder... Such an 'upgrade' would be hell on the brain. RvB:reconstruction much?
[NS]Kagetora

@Telz: I'm good. Ziyo would have no problems. He doesn't see the computer as an enemy, so dealings with him/it don't bother him.
Mt Id
12-02-2009, 04:56
Ok, this new wave is actually from the SZ in Overrun 1. He disguised himself as a survivor and then got transported here but escaped on the way. He then set out and turned as many living as he could into zombies like him so he would have a force to fight with. So yes, these are viral infective.

12-02-2009, 05:18
Well, think more Fuchicoma and less Cortana. Just as smart as Cortana, but inexperienced like Fuchicoma. Not in charge or able to override user body controls either. More like assisted combat, and well, in one of my stories assisted living when he uploads her into a body illegally she becomes his live in maid etc. Chobits~escque. Anyway she's super smart and super hot and runs the MK3, or Landmate from the Original Appleseed.

Yeah, um, I still don't see the advantage of having an ultra-feminine AI swimming in the conciousness of a marine (http://theinfosphere.org/Love_and_Rocket). Subserviant, yes, because letting an artificial (and inexperianced) AI dominate the host is kinda... ill advised (deathlock-esque killing-spree)...

Oh well... I suppose someone in the R&D didn't like reffering to HAL as "it" and didn't want it to be a 'He' for social reasons. Giving 'it' a personalized name and gender also shows mental attachment/fondness I suppose. As 'it' could start as a rather emotionless, nameless tool and have their sentieance derrived/formed from the soldier's subconcious or some shit like that (since it would essentially be an expanded and communal 'muscle-memory' for seemlessly using the mecha and other complex reflexes).

So the appropriateness depends on when, who, and why the AI is identified as feminine. (difference between being issued a gun named "Cassandra" or being issued an M16 and told to give it a girl's name for a multitude of reasons)

I'm also guessing that the mechas aren't quite operational and letting her tag-along with the user is for training-purposes.

All good points but you missed one fundamental. It's a SHE, therefore, in certain personality types will be far more effective in coercion toward the mission objective regardless of how immoral or unethical it is. Starship Troopers (The Book!) said it best when the troopers were being shot out of orbit. "...The last thing you hear is always a female voice. It reminds you what you're fighting for..." or something close to that. She is also designed to draw him away from conventional socialization and keep him more focused on his missions, and mission preparedness. She was designed for his personality alone. And after all, if he has her, why would he need anyone else? (Good for the Government, and the nation as a whole, bad for the individual.)

Aha! But you may be wrong! Though it's only a theory...
What if: Church isn't the alpha.
The logical next place to look would be, Caboose.

As, in episode 99, Caboose manifested a physical being based on his assumptions on "sister", which made a cameo in episode ~50 after making contact with a dead Agent Wyoming's helmet.

Plus, he managed to pull-off a semi-plausable O'malley impersonation "by thinking about kittens".

Also, since Delta was logic, the alpha would presumably lack it, in addition to sanity, anger, memory, and deciet.

Oh well, his role in roosterteeth's "AI-freelancer" story-arc would presumably be revealed during the "relocated" mini-series...

Name: Illaksiorpakum (-kum is a rank)
Nationality: Pataari
Age: 43
History: Illak was an advisor to Obsаtyanorusaal and a fervent supporter of Pоdsobyakh Ulanpataaru during the Pataari civil war. But as Port Yuko became surrounded he fled his nation carrying the helmet and clothes he wore along with his rifle. As the years past he travelled to many nations partially under the fear that he was being chased by the Trade Masters. But as he grew old and older he could not travel so much, so once he landed on the shores of Mount Id. he decided to stay, even though he still thought he was being chased.
Equipment: AK-113 and survival hatchet.

Is there a map of mount Id?
Mt Id
16-02-2009, 20:33
haha. A map? No. Basically the only way you can get into this RP is that you were a survivor of the first attack and were transported here in helicoptors. Read the intro and i think it explains that. So just assume you've been around doing stuff until you decide to make an IC post :D lol.
Ulanpataar

Wow... Were running in the 400's and still getting new people! Sweeeeeetnessshhhh!

I have an idea for the new entries if they'd like to do it. We're currently pushing through an area of the city looking for a non-viral zombie (In this thread we have 2 kinds, as if one type of overwhelming shambling dead weren't enough. Mt is a sadist.) We could A. Find you in the ruble or locked in a car, or free you from a closet because you died in the first 2 minutes from leaving the safe room... Oh wrong game, you get the idea. Or B. We could stumble along each other like you've been wondering around for awhile.

Now for either of those to work we'll have to stage a meeting for you two that way we can get you both in one fell swoop of fate's hand.

And UD dude, who doen't talk about Caboose and Donut? This is like Uber NeRd central in here :D

Telz
21-02-2009, 13:39
The only reason I didn't say Brad was because of the 25mm. I made the .50Cal and below rule myself so I can't really go back on that. And I also know for a fact that the Brads don't fit as many troops in them as they say they do. You're good for a 3 crew, and 4 passengers and thats it. MTLB's are good for at least 8, 432's for 6, and 53's 8. I was trying to get us more bang for the buck. If we wanted to roll big guns we could use the 105 Strykers, but I think they're worthless hunks of garbage personally. Up to MT, I can't really post until I know what we're dealing with. It's kind of a pivotal piece of machinery. I'll do a fluff update though.

Ok, I guess the last post I put up didn't go through.

M53A4:
Up armored and reconfigured Armored Personnel Carrier.
Proofed against .50 cal and below, equipped with a shiftronic torque adjusted transmission for easy shifting and gear selection, as well as a low torque down shaft. A 680HP Detroit Diesel Dinosaur with production of 695 foot pounds of torque. (For anyone who isn't a car or truck person with the weight to horse power/torque to weight ratio this A4 model has, with enough traction it could climb a vertical wall with ease.) Equipped with pivot steer and a steering yoke not laterals. The up armored sealed turret for the TC (Track/Truck Commander) provides 360 degrees of turn radius with 40 degrees of downward cant. The turret can accommodate any of the following variations: One .50 cal and one M240B (http://www.riflesnguns.com/files/images/M-240B1.bmp) side by side, two .50 cals side by side, one .50 cal and one MK19 side by side. The magazine can store up to 8,000 .50 cal rounds, or 2,000 .40mm MK19 rounds or up to 20,000 M240B rounds. It is also equipped with smoke launchers that can be interchanged with CS, or other gases. The driver has a 180 degree forward field of view and a 45 degree downward and upward field of view respectively. The troop compartment can hold up to 8 light infantry in the ready position. Armored ports allow for troop compartment suppressive fire up to a M240B. The suspension system has been upgraded from that of an M113 single drive sprocket to that of a Bradley with 18inches of articulation per road wheel and up to 65 degrees vertical climb, and 65 degrees reverse egress. The M53 stands at 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and is 12.5 feet (3.8 meters) wide. The rear troop ramp has been upgraded to feature bolt and pin locking clamps, dual hydraulic armatures, and a drop pressure exploding bolt release system to aid in vehicle roll over and troop egress from the troop compartment. The exterior fuel compartments have been armored and integrated into the frame and now pose no risk of either "knock off" or puncture by conventional munitions. The fuel capacity for the M53 is 400 gallons (1513.7 liters).

Any questions?

I agree with your assessment, or rather Mike's assessment. We'll just say that once Zy, and the APC get there we'll leave about 10 guys with Mike. The rest will fall in with me and we'll go sweeping. wow telz...nice post there in the IC. Must have taken you a while to write all that. lol.

I might be old and slow that's why it's quality not quantity.
Mt. to support my/Tom's question of getting more vehicles. You typically find M53/M113's in groups of 3 with other APC's in a motor pool type area. I don't know if Meta had that or not but you would think if they had one APC they would at least have 3 or 4 RSOV's or HMMV's as out riders or quick response vehicles.

Kage
We have tank ditches, Bradley berms, a fox hole network linked into the sewers, building to building catwalks, and a fortified guard tower that now extends at least one story above the base itself and has 360 degrees view for the snipers. Not to mention the mines and other fun little surprises the civilians and our engineer buddy have cooked up for anything coming that direction. They are very well defended and dug in. The early scouting missions and pilfering every last bit of food and equipment from the grocery store and nearby vehicles has led to them being stocked for a good long haul. Mt is fond of conventional wave style attacks that's why I post a "defensive build up" post that's not too specific on details so he can't out and out destroy the base. Hence the whole reason we are not rushing to their rescue.

Also I'm going to push one patrol of six to our location, I'm sure Mt will probably harass them or kill them out right; but at about 1530 in the after noon the base camp should have one active patrol out in the area at least, if not two, one static and one roving.
Mt Id

telz: where exactly are the mines?
Telz
01-03-2009, 14:06
Dude! I am so~ not telling you! You're the bad guy! lol

I'd have to draw you a picture but it basically goes like this:

Base
(100M) ALHBL Line (All Hell Breaks Loose)
(200M) Midline
(300M) Initial engagement line (Start making controlled aimed shots and choosing targets.)
(350M) Initial long range engagement (Snipers, expert marksmen etc.)

Mines, IED's, and AP style booby traps rigged for Zombies are in random areas every 25 meters with over lapping effects. I have data to back up how easy this would be. Even if you gave me just one Suburbia with a full tank of gas. Let alone stores with most of the items necessary to make it EASY to do. Ask HT he'll back me, fo sho! What this means to you:
If you send 100 basics at base, chances are that over half will make it past the Initial Long line. 80%.

That remaining 80% encounters the initial engagement line and is cut down by over half with small arms and non-explosive devices.

You are now left with 35%. This 35% with no assistance from brutes (Remeber you said it's just basics so far.) is mowed down and mulched by small arms before they reach the midline.

That is if half of the 60 people left at base are sleeping and half are awake with 5 of those being expert marksmen and the rest needing shot guns to hit a target 5 feet away.
Telz

Before I can do the defense of the base I need to know if one, anyone can punch holes in the sewer plan on the survivors end? Two if we can punch holes in it are we going to get vehicles from the warehouse or are we going to get more information? Three, is anyone else still playing or is it just me and Mt?

haha. Good question Telz. If its just us we might as well start a new one to see if we can get people interested again.

I'm not going to do anything else until Kage or someone else goes. I've had WAY more than my fair share of stage glory.

I have an explanation or excuse depending on how you look at it. I love to write detailed fiction as a hobby so having someone else play the bad guy, and other characters, and not know where the story is going is awesome to me and I get pretty well swept away by it so. I know I've been hogging all the posts and not really giving many tie ins but I can't help it! It's fun! Just jump in and take over! It's a play right out of my book :D

Oh and PS:
Manchester United Rules! :D
