Clarification (OOC)

Just for clarification (And I know this may be in the wrong place) but can you RP a MT and an FT version of your nation?

I don't see why not - but i'm biased, because I do!

I would have thought that as long as you keep the two techs seperate, there would be no problems. Xiscapia, Alversia and Imperial Isa have all taken part in MT and FT threads. Make a factbook if you're having trouble remembering what each nation uses and so on.

you could probably use your nation as FT and then play out the MT threads as alternate history threads, not sure if you could actually use both though

I'll keep that in mind, perhaps the MT threads could be the past of the FT?

Ustio North, do you mind giving me some help on a intro FT ?

most of the time those who move into FT do use the MT or PMT as their past

My FT nation is a completely seperate entity to my MT nation, though I often make references to it during threads.

Not at all, what do you need?

Well I was thinking that my FT nation has developed it's first warp (Or whatever) capable starship and it makes first contact, so how would I start that, would my FT nation be part of a larger planet or what?

Your FT nation could be a planet, it could be a system of planets, or it could be a fleet of mobile ships (maybe i've seen Waterworld too many times) - whatever you want it to be. For example, here's my FT Factbook entry on Geography and Population

As for how to start a First Contact thread, having developed your warp engines is a perfectly reasonable idea. I think I can find you a link to my FC thread, that happened a while ago, if you wanted to see an example...

Though I should point out, I have changed parts of my military considerably since then, and I no longer use anything from WH40K.

Ok, I was thinking of doing it like (Sort of) Star Trek: Enterprise style, my homeworld controls the home system and is just setting out to explore, hows that?

Also what are weapons called, would calling them Phasers ect be acceptable

Again, one of the main things with FT is there really is nothing anyone can say about what tech you use, unlike in MT/PMT (as you found out, with the Valiant thread). If you want to call your weapons phasers, that will probably be fine with any FT players.

It was a shame about the Valiant
...
Anyway
Would you be willing to be the people I meet?
Ustio North

Amongst others, yes. I can probably say that people such as Alversia, Xiscapia, Greywatch, Void Templar and IMGLOT would all post too, if it is an open thread.

It was a shame about the Valiant

Just go PMT and then use all the tech you use now as well as the Valiant. Hell, i'm making three fleets - Submersible, Surface and Airborne
