(this is a very long read but you can see the true brutality of the death guard and how some kids survive or may not survive it. You can ask to join it if you want as one of the kids.)
"What a bloody star," Ricky De'Angelo said looking at the sun. It had painted the sky red and the eerie quiet was left. He turned to the group of children looking at him. He felt nauseas, he was now the leader of the group of survivors from Gammoa. The teachers had left for town almost 8 hours ago putting an old priest in charge. That priest dissappeared 3 hour later to look for the teachers.
Over 100,000 people lived in the city and in a day it was all wiped out. Only 1000 children and 50 teachers had survived the death guard assault. Only by the miracle of being at a christian charter school almost 18 miles out of town did they survive.
Several of the kids had wondered through the town and had come back with "scout reports" as Ricky had called them. They told of horrible things and ricky couldn't believe it himself.
He took along several of the larger kids as they made their way out from the long hallway in which classes had been in before the sound of bombers interupted. The kids had thought it was merely a show as they had crowded the windows.
Several of the kids exclaimed that they saw the lumbering bombers begin to drop black tears towards the city. That was when Ricky realized they were bombing it.
He didn't dare go down there, he knew his parents wouldn't be alive. The sound of gun fire and artillery could be heard even from miles away. The next thing he knew a man was running yelling something about the Death Guard.
Ricky, Tony, Theodore, Corry, Richard, and Rosaline, or Rose as all the boys called her were probably the best of friends. They always did everything together. Though Rose and Ricky always fought for leadership it was cute to the rest of the 15 year olds who would tease them about how they would be perfect for each other. Now Ricky was leading the group and Rose looked at every corner like it held a thousand death guard.
"The city...the people...Everything...its..." stuttered Richard looking at the seen of death. The death guard had lived up to their name. The power lines one used to bring life into the city held lynched corpses hanging as the frozen wind sucked any heat left in them.
Theodore vomited, in front of him were men, but they weren't. The death guard had cut up the citizens and switched out body parts and heads with them before impaling them on sticks.
The sights of brutality were just to much for Corry as he broke down and tried to break open a car door. He just couldn't stand it. The kids grabbed him before he could hurt himself. They slowly walked him over to central park which was only a block away.
Ricky went ahead with Rose who whispered to Ricky,"What...happened Ricky. Why did they kill everyone?"
Ricky felt sick, he knew the reason, he knew why, and it was sickening that Ralkovia. A land that had promised to spare them would do this. His father, a priest and the mayor of the city, had been one of the few mayors and government leaders not to recognize the Emperor as the messiah and ruler of Ralkovia. And now, well they would be recognizing anything. The christians had flourished under the democratic regime but now that the emperor was back he was demanding allegiance.
They came across Central Park. Rose immediately screamed, in front of her was her dad, hanging from a bloodied tree along with 20 other men, women, and children. An infant impaled on the flag the democratic flag of Ralkovia wrapped in its blood.
"WHY RICKY!?!?! WHY DID THEY DO THIS?!?!?!," she cried as she ran to her father. She began to choke as she saw her mother buried under her father. Her head was above ground and they had put plugs and tape over her nose and mouth suffocating her.
The grass on the park glistened not with dew but with blood. The grass was forever soaked with the over 2000 dead. No one was left alive. Ricky could only hold her and rub her shoulders.
She was beautiful and her skin so soft. He held her trying to comfort her, trying not to think about the things that were around them. He knew that everyone was dead. Life was over as they knew it.
Theodore came running up with tony. "JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" yelled Tony seeing his parents crucified, not on a cross but on the star of satan. The death guard had shown no mercy in life or in the afterlife. Theodore looked at it and cursed all he could before saying that it was hopeless.
Tony curse Theodore out for being so hopeless. The gang immediately tried to intervene. Ricky had to take charge, he shouted for them to listen up. The gang quickly stopped there fighting. He sort of wished he hadn't yelled for them to quiet down. The silence was so scary.
"Okay we need to head down to the police station. They will have guns for us to use. We need to get hold of a phone as well," he said trying to make a plan all the while trying to hold his mind together.
His parents would be dead and so would everyone he knew. At least he still had gang. "Rose...I'm sorry but we must go," he said pulling her away from her parents.
"NO RICKY PLEASE JUST GIVE ME A FEW MINUTES. MOMMY DADDY PLEASE!!!!!!" She cried. After what seemed like an eternity Ricky pulled her away. She screamed and struggled before giving up. Her face a flood of tears was probably the only liquid in the city not red. He brushed the hair away from her face before kissing her on the cheek. "Rose I know what you are going through. We all are," he said holding her as she cried on his shoulder.
He could only rub her back. The sound of marching. He instantly pulled her into the Park lake, shouted for the gang to come fast, and hid under the wooden dock. Only Corry made it into the bloody water as bullets began to spray the park.
He saw Theodore drop into the lake his body floating. Tony rushed foward and tried to attack where ever the gun fire was coming from. He didn't survive for long. Finally Richard, Richy had hid behind one of the bodies and simply waited until the death guard came to check for the kills. He was probably the worse off. He was impaled upside down. Corry watched in horror as his neighbor was filled with wood. Had corry actually been under the dock his bubbles wouldn't have been seen but he had opened his big mouth.
The death guard immediately began to fire at Corry's position. Only Corry's time as a swimmer on the school team and theodore's dead body saved him from the spurt of bullets.
He swam over to the dock just as the death guard began to drop grenades into the water. He gasped for air before whispering to Ricky and Rose,"We need to get out of here now. They are only going to fire for a little while longer. Remember what Priest Feldermann said about how the lake leads to the sewer? We should do that and from the sewer we can get out to the ocean or something."
"The sewer?!?! It is disgusting in their. You remember I showed you guys what it was like when it we went with my dad for career day. And Tony fell into the..." Rose said before realizing that she would never see her father or tony again. She began to cry, Corry whispered for her to shut up. She began to cry louder. Corry grabbed her and forced her underwater.
Ricky realized what he was trying to do and grabbed him by the throat,"Release rose now!!!" Corry let go, he was afraid, they all were and Rose grabbed Corry and smashed his head against her knee. He gasped bleeding from his skull. Corry grabbed her and punched her in the stomach. Ricky told them both to stop before grabbing them both and holding them against the concrete of the dock walls. "Both of you have to stop or we will be dead like everyone else. We have to get to the sewers. We have to get to the one that leads back to the school and warn the others or everyone will be dead." They both nodded slowly.
The death guard were having a party up in the park, dropping high explosives into the middle of the lake. It was a miracle that they hadn't destroyed the etire damn town yet. The death guard were literally having fun as they threw grenades and C4 into the water.
