Soryanastan

This is the thread that will be used not only for any OOC discussions about the content of the thread known as Year Zero but also about all future threads concerning the conflict in Soryanastan. It will be more easier in my opinion. Questions and so forth can be posted here by all participants and, if you want to join in, post about it here. The following, now, is how Soryanastan currently looks.
Geography: Imagine Zimbabwe as an island. There may be some mountains around.
People: A Slavic-East Indian hybrid race (Soryana culture is essentially a mixture of Slavic and East Indian culture as shown by, for example, the wearing of Indian style clothing and the use of a non-religious version of the Kama Sutra) which is quite hedonistic - old government was culturally conservative but socially liberal which explains the majority of people accepting things like prostitution. Christianity and Soryani paganism are the only religions usually seen although agnosticism and atheism isn't uncommon. Soryana is the name of the people but Soryani is an adjective for them.
Factions:
1. The Unity Party - Originally formed in the Victorian Era as a group of British influenced constitutional monarchists, the Unity Party was ruling Soryanastan until the rebels arrived. With most of its leaders brutally massacred, its current leader is a Member of Parliament named Lukan Zamenov and, as a result, he is the head of the government in exile. The party is derogatorily referred to as the Janatists after their support of fourteen year old Princess Janata who, as the heir to the fallen King and his murdered Queen, would be able to claim the throne. Consider all other parties to be virtually wiped out or just unable to muster any legible resistance.
2. The National Salvation Front - Formed out of obscurity, the National Salvation Front originally had been a group of people which advocated a Maoist brand of Communism but power struggles within the group resulted in the rise of admirers of Pol Pot's brand of Communism gaining control and, eventually, leading a revolt which overthrew the old government. The National Salvation Front's brand of Communism is a mixture of Stalinist, Maoist and Khmer Rouge thought.
