It's been Monday all week, casually thought Jakob Segeb. I wish I could just lie down and sleep to noon.
Jakob hadn't slept probably all week, and no amount of make-up could conceal the bags under his usually alert, intelligent eyes which had been growing more noticeable week by week by week. Then again, it wasn't part of the job description to have at least eight hours sleep while leading a country, especially a country which wasn't really a country until five minutes ago.
He was sitting in his office, staring at the screen of his state-of-the-art computer. This was hell. He had expected all of this whenever the late Ehud Yakir had called him up to serve as an advisor whenever Isira become a sovereign state and all that shit, but then Ehud had fell victim of cancer. Thus, Jakob had been promoted to the soon-to-be Prime Minister of Isira, about two months ago. Thus, Jakob was truly the first politician who wasn’t a politician, at least in his knowledge.
It was a dark, cool night in Isira, as was custom of the winter in this country. He had just finished the last communication to Great Britain, finally confirming that Isira was a sovereign state from the moment they replied. And thank God they had replied, but had replied with three words which suggested they weren't to happy about losing another part of land which had been captured by the Empire.
It was silent tonight, minus the news from downstairs of senior diplomats being interviewed, holding the journalists off him with the word substitute of an assault rifle, which was how the Foreign Minister had put in this office twenty-five minutes ago. He felt truly sorry for those people, with all the work they had put in last year and now having to deal with bloodthirsty journalists, for Christ's sake!
Well, Jakob's objective at the moment was to survive the night before the journalists got their hands on him, which was probably the goal of every politician in existence, minus those from the imperial nations where it was something like take over the world. Of course, those nations always got to watch their blood spilled, which made the particularly sadistic Jakob smile, despite sleep gaining a grip on him.
Thus it made Jakob virtually jump half a metre in the air whenever the telephone rang, ringing in that certain way which always made Jakob think he was being watched by European assassins. Military service did that to people like Jakob.
"Understood," replied Jakob, then putting down the phone and sighing.

As my first diplomatic communication to the world, I wish all of you the greatest luck for the future and I hope your nation enters eternal prosperity soon. I am the first Prime Minister of the Republic of Isira, Jakob Segeb. Just minutes ago, the Republic of Isira was established after talks with the UK succeeded, and resulted in the ROI.
From this moment onward, Isira will be a democratic nation, with regular elections and freedom of speech. However, do be aware we don't discriminate on ideological bases; no, we will accept any ally no matter if they are democratic, communist, fascist or something completely different.
As of the moment, no legislation has passed the government, but it is expected that tomorrow, the Isiran Senate with elected representatives from each part of the nation (called Senate Members, or SMs) will meet to ratify the Constitution and create the basics of the nation. Of course, this must pass through Representative House, as it probably will.
However, for now, we simply humbly announce that our nation has been born and is open to all, and we are willing to start relations and trade before dawn in Isira.
