Background: Ever since the founding of the Soviet Republic of Novistrana, the USGA has been rivals with it in both economic and military contests in a new Cold War. They used client states in the less-developed world as pawns against each other in a game of international chess. From the Kamcha War in 2008 to the Yugoslav Republic War in 2010, both sides have attempted to exert their power over the Northern Hemisphere. In 2012, Novistrana suffered a huge economic downturn with the loss of trade from its former allies Stoklomolvi and Chernobyl-Pripyat in an attempt to control the local governments and economy, resulting in failure of state-run industries and widespread protests by Russian citizens. However, President Vasily Karasov surppressed the public outcry with police forces and invaded the European Federation Alliance, dubbed "NATO II." In response, western Europe counterattacked in defense for its native lands, with the help of the USGA. They hold off the Russian assault while Karasov is assassinated in an attempted coup d'etat. Hardliner Nikolai Vladekov, an ex-Soviet general takes over and invades the U.S.G.A. and Stoklomolvi at Seattle and Tianjin respectively. Both sides, with the help of each other, hold off the Soviet assault while the Europeans throw off their invaders. (1st phase)
Fast-forward to 2016. The USGA and EF sign the SLAMS treaty, which puts an end to nuclear war. In 2018, the Freedom Star, a space-launched military platform, is scrapped due to international pressure. Kamcha, Khemed, and Sahrani (USGA client states) and the United Islamic Republic (Islamic fundamentalist state) cripple their oil supplies in a nuclear exchange that same year. The Novistranian Federation (now a right-wing semi-authoritarian state) becomes the region's biggest oil producers and uses its petrodollars to rebuild its military. It takes over its ex-Soviet republics and creates a new Eastern Bloc in Europe. Alarmed, the USGA and EF cut off energy imports from Novistrana and instead, buy from Stoklomolvi. Desiring to retain its status, Novistrana sets up 3 terrorist attacks in Cape Canaveral, Rozenburg, and a false one in Dukovany with the help of a terrorist group called the Forgetten Army. To avoid detection, Russian intel pins the EF on the attacks only to be sabotaged by USGA counterintelligence agents. To push them over the edge, Russian Spetsnaz upload a virus (Codename Stiletto) into Rovaniemi Air Base in Finland to misguide the SLAMS. Failing once again, Novistrana attacks the EF and USGA once again to force the governments to resume trade and call for a truce. The Allied forces aren't move, so Novistrana invades the Beatus, on the northern border with the USGA attacking the Northwest Territories and major cities in Alberta.
