Hello International Incidents, I am going to be starting a new RP soon about a zombie type out break with in my nation primarily located within one city (Stanton) however this may change depending on the twists of the story.

The name of the story RP will be The Infection, and will start at a run-down farm near a major city police and policing agencies will investigate the death of the family and from there an outbreak of zombisim will begin to spread to the nearby city, resulting in many horrific scenes of zombie feastings and pulse racing close calls for our hero’s be they stranded policemen, armed gangs who find themselves suddenly the saviours of a city fighting the new terror instead being the terrorisers of it, or just Joe Public out for a walk/shopping trip/date and finds themselves suddenly fighting for survival in a world descending into a hellish nightmare.

The zombies will have two states of existence, the first is dormant an state in which they are not hunting prey and appear to shuffle around in awkward lurching steps and the second is aggressive or active in which they have identified prey of have been alerted to the presence of prey by the screams and wails of other zombies in this state they are fast, able to run and even sprint and jump after unfortunate prey caught in the chase.

In the case of the dormant zombies there general heath in a pre-infected state has little effect on their movement as they move very slowly however in the second state of aggressive or active then their previous existence will have a much greater impact in that a fat person as a zombie will not be able to run as fast as or have the balance of a previously athletically inclined person who is then infected.

Military intervention may and take place by external nations however in-character posts requesting permission for such actions and a post accepting the action should always precede a post detailing the outcome of these actions

Also i would like to point out an idea.
Zombies like those in the game Left 4 Dead,would be very good.like many diferent types,etc. Smoker(tongue thing),Witch-doll thing(hostile when in light),Boomer(huge mutated zombie),Hunter(Agile zombie,can jump,run fast and similar shit)and ordinary slow ones.Also all are allerted when to noise and they are tracing the source of the noise.

I don't know anything about Left for Dead, so someone would need to do a write up on the different sorts should CI decide to go with those variants as well- the dormant/ active versionsounds very plausible to me and gives us bit more of a challenge. The hieghtened senses of hearing and smell for tracking also add to that challenge.


Questions for Cotton Isles -

1) What tech is this set in Modern Tech ( MT ) or Post Modern Tech ( PMT )

2) Can our characters have minor 'abilities outside the norm"? Say with your appoval so they don't get too over the top, of course

It would be modern tech stuff though that will include NS designs for MT if you character or nation has any.

As for special abilities, do you mean telepathic/ psychic abilities or more like good reflexes and a fast draw.

I’m not too keen on the mutations though other than that I don’t see a problem if you want to include them in some way.

Zombies/Infection
To begin the infection will be spread through bites from a zombie or the exchange of blood or bodily fluids with a zombie or infected person. The first stage of infection would last from a few seconds to day in which, dependant on the wound, the person’s blood would feel like it was on fire spreading extreme pain throughout the whole body. The eyes fill with blood during this stage as well as blood seeping from mouth, ears and tear ducts.
After that the skin slowly losses pigmentation and turns grey the eyes turn black as the blood in them begins to congeal. Clothing would wear to taters and as more and more people become infect zombie “communities” or packs begin to form around hunting grounds in which survivors are trapped in buildings or fortifications.

I’d like to make a start on the RP on Wednesday or Thursday evening so if everyone that is interested and wants to take part could make a post by then ill TG them a like to the story thread, thank you.

The first = telepathic/ psychic abilities = I don't feel that high end, to slightly above Olympic best, can really be considered 'special abilities'

Screw prefferances, I did lady-sniper as a re-occuring character/theme.

And that isn't easy to do, especially when trying to avoid pr0n scene-refferances in an RP-forum dominated by male characters, particularilly when she's fighting you for the soap; trying to keep everyone focused on the fact that she's trying to kill the other players gets rather difficult.
(Especially when you hear one of the other characters is a ball-cutting, testicle-eating parody of Borat)

If you're not ready for that, try and do each and every one of the village people.

Common Infected

Common Infected are the most commonly-faced enemy and they are the easiest to defeat. They are completely AI-controlled and fairly weak. Their strength lies in the fact they attack in groups sometimes as large as several dozen, known as hordes. While they seem capable of ignoring pain, they can still be killed easily. They are capable of climbing ladders and scaling objects.

Hordes are large groups of common Infected that will rush the Survivors at random intervals, after triggering a car alarm or other Panic Event, during a Finale and during the aftermath of a sucessful Boomer vomit attack.

The Witch

The Witch appears only once or twice per campaign, and is passive unless provoked by flashlights, gunfire, or Survivors getting too close. She is very powerful and is capable of killing players with a single attack as well as sustaining much damage before dying. While the Witch can be killed, it is best to avoid startling her unless absolutely necessary.


The Screamer

The Screamer is a cut unplayable Special Infected that would have appeared one or more times per map. It would wander around until it came in contact with the survivors. Once it saw them, it would quickly run away and hide. When it was successfully hidden, it would let out a scream that would attract the horde.

During testing, play testers complained that the Screamer would end up being too hard to spot in a crowd of infected. Its horde-attracting scream ended up evolving into the Boomer's vomit.

The Boomer

he Boomer is an Infected that spits vomit at survivors, which blinds them and draws other infected to them. At a distance, the Boomer is little threat, since he is extremely slow. However, he can vomit on Survivors, attracting the Horde. When he dies, he explodes and covers any Survivors who are close enough in bile. If a Boomer is killed while close to a survivor, the player loses control for a few seconds and stumbles away from the now dead boomer.

The Hunter

The Hunter is extremely similar to the fast zombies from Half-Life 2, although far less charred. The Hunter is extremely quick and agile, and is capable of scaling walls. Additionally, he can pounce players and pin them down until killed or shoved off by another Survivor. Since this "class" is extremely agile, he is also physically weak and cannot take much gunfire.

The Smoker

The Smoker is an ambush class who can strangle Survivors with his long tongue, similar to Half-Life's Barnacle. The help of another survivor is required to escape from a Smoker's hold. As his name implies, Smokers can emit smoke to impair Survivors' vision and voice communication when in danger, or automatically when killed. The Smoker can drag players that he has captured with his tongue, towards himself. The smoker remains stationary and cannot move for a few seconds after having his tongue removed from his captive by another survivor.

The Tank

The Tank is the strongest of Boss Infected. Although not as fast as a hunter, the tank can move as fast as a survivor at full health and has incredible strength and resistance. To counter this overwhelming advantage, the Tank has a frustration meter that goes up whenever the Survivors aren't in view. When the meter is full, the player loses control of the Tank. The Tank is capable of throwing large objects with sufficient force to injure Survivors.

The prevalence of neck/chest damage inflicted when 'turning' a victim would make screamers quite rare, for example.

Lost a foot? Can't balance because yo lost your ears? Can't hear the survivor's boomstick in the distance? Looks like you can't run and jump with the hunters...

Blind? Either go cower in a corner or follow the sound of the mob...

Course, after awhile, a few zekes may see the benefit of killing while causing the least damage and to not 'feast' on the newbie. Thus encouraging a screaming-hunter.

Then there's PKers/cannibals/raiders, AKA: the human threat.

Been at the horror/zombie RP thing on NS long enough that not only did I want difficulty, but epic realism...

Eventually, zombies will use sniper-rifles and tanks*... Or at least use trucks as battering-rams... The value of a tank is limited once they run out of fuel/ammo or their armor is compromised...

*May take a few months though...
**When you're missing more than one limb, I'd consider you crippled, and if dead and moving, you're an undead cripple, and since -as already outlibned- zombie-injuries are quite high, the vehicle is likely to be driven by a one-armed zeke with no eyes taking directions from another zeke that was an unlucky human trying to cross a minefield...
And the one popping caps? He's got sawed in half with some 00 Buckshot...

I don't RP to make things "easy", I make things "interesting", and since this is a survival RP, "fun=interesting=difficult".

Buraue in Belgrade.Now he is an experienced agent with many hiddent traits.Currently he is in one of the Cotton Islands largest cities named Stanley and his mission is to observe and report about an outbreak of unkown disease or something like it which is turning people into bloodthurst killers,which is remarked interesting by the Bureau because they have chemical weapon plans about it.

There is still plenty of time to join the story thread so dont worry about not posting yet just keep your eyes open for a way in, or an angle you want to explore. Right now the city is pretty much over run but there will still be lots of pockets of human resistance to the infected hordes.

Skill: upper body strength, skilled marksman with a rifle.

occupation : tourist, back at home a truck driver.

equipment : 2" by 4" but looking for a gun store

Biography : son of a general in the tubaui'n military, so grew up with a military background. his dad tried on numerous occasions to get him into the military but he always declined, and has a bad payed job as a delivery driver. is currently on holiday in Stanley with his girlfriend, who will get infected before he gets back to his hotel.

Makes you feel like shit, don't it?

On the other hand, by not RPing a "pro", you have less pressure to remain morally straight when society goes to hell, more chances to be creative, and less of a headache trying to introduce yourself.

On the other hand, nobody expects civies to survive because "they don't know anything", and in all reality, they generally only do knee-jerk reactions and have a tendancy to starve to death once the stores close.

Hmm...Good question 101. The Psychologist in me is intrigued lol. I know my reason is that in situations like these I enjoy playing the part of the group or government trying to restore order. The whole cliche 'Beat the bad guy save the day' mentality. It feels good in a way to know that I have at my disposal almost unlimited resources to deal with the threat and am not a 'helpless civvie' on the ground. Though I did enjoy Bioshock which was pretty heavy on scavenging and being on your own but-*yanks self off of podium*

Oh it's true that a civilian can be just as awesome as a government operative, police officer (though they still count as civilians), or soldier. It all boils to preference. I mean don't get me wrong, I think I'd have fun with a civilian. It's just a matter of what I'm feeling like playing when I sign up.

I'd like to say "it's all in the wrist"... Or that it comes with experiance, or watching WAY too many action movies...

It doesn't. That just fills your head with ideas to work with... Now how to implement those ideas, that's the hard part...

1- Keep movements fluid, so no moving like a lagger, if there's a plot-hole, fill it in. If you're fellow seems to be teleporting around the map, you missed a step, go back and take those steps first.

2- Don't have him do something unrealistic, like leaping tall buildings (doing something super-humanly difficult), then landing in a wet paper bag and unable to fight his way out (Getting pwned by a 5 yr old girl) on a regular basis. As lulzy as it seems, it gets old quite fast.

3- Everyone makes mistakes (My guy shot himself when he tripped, remember?)

4- Don't do insane stuff, ppl will generally point out when another character is doing something that makes no sense, figure out why it doesn't, then see suggestion #3 and continue.
-There are also some "elephant in the room" insane-actions, like misinterpreting someones words which causes a chain of events totally unrealistic. The best way is to treat it like a certain award for finding a flaw in a comic-book plot, and then solving it. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No-Prize)
(Pudites no likey papercuts, thus a half-ton of leaflets managed to kill a hundred of them, as they took cover in nuclear-blast-proof bunkers)
