Ayrira

"What creature has further cursed Allah's world? The Grand World Order or Stoklomolvi?" asked Prime Minister Khaled Al-Assad, being in a cheerful mood for the information he was about to be told.

"Sir, we have reports that the JFF have taken over the Ekartina, and are executing Muslims and burning mosques as we speak," reported Defence Minister Abdul bin Hassam. "Our forces in the area have been destroyed."

Khaled went pale. The Jewish Freedom Front was one of the four major terrorist groups in Ayrira, along with the Knights of Christ group, the Hindu Alliance and the Allah's Fighters groups. All except the latter wanted to start a new independent state, and the latter wanted to install an Islamic theocracy, despite the Royal Theocracy nearly splitting the nation in half with war.

Ekartina was a small, round area, bordered by the breakaway Christian republic of Rashdid, which had publicly renamed itself Fulanesia, after their leader, Fatima Fulani, a young woman who the Republic had tried to capture and torture once. Beside Rashdid, there was a breakaway Hindu republic of Saddia. Thus, the grand total of breakaway republics in Ayrira was three, with the area they were all located in, Perriota, being about the size of the Gaza Strip and Abkhazia, with the Jews taking the north, the Christians the south and the Hindus the rest of it.

It was hitting 11 o'clock in Kashdad now. Khaled himself wanted to return to his lovely home, kiss his wife Adila and smile at his young children, Fahim and Saree, sleeping soundly, tucked up in their beds. Mohammed, his eldest son, was 21 and already in the military, thanks to mandatory military service all Ayrirans over 23 had served. Then, he would have supper and go to bed.

"This couples the breakaway Christian and Hindu republics, if I'm right," noted Khaled. "That means all of Perriota is in breakaway hands."

"We cannot accept that, sir," suggested Abdul. "We cannot have Ayrira appear weak on the world stage! We must reunite our homeland! Ayrira cannot be divided!"

Khaled smiled, "What do you suggest?" That small, seemingly harmless question actually meant how many soldiers are we to send in to kill everybody? . Such was Ayriran politics. Ruthless yet not corrupted. Yet.

Kashdad - Just minutes ago, Prime Minister Khaled Al-Assad issued a statement that will see ten thousand Ayriran troops deployed into the breakaway republics of Ekartina, Rashdid and Saddia, with Al-Assad ending the statement with 'we will bring peace to Ayrira'.

The breakaway republics were founded by religious differences; the recently declared Republic of Ekartina is a mainly Jewish population, the Republic of Fulanesia, as it was renamed by the breakaways, are Catholics and the Republic of Saddia is a Hindu nation, though all regions seem to share two things in common; they are all extremists and ethnically Arab.

"Peace is our goal, and peace is what we will achieve," said Prime Minister Al-Assad. "Thus, I am ordering ten thousand troops into the breakaway republics to reunite Ayrira, and bring peace to our nation."

The ten thousand troops, along with several hundred tanks and air support, will engage with the breakaways and seek to reunite the country through force. After peaceful discussions with Saddia, which would see the creation of a Saddian Autonomy, failed, the government now sees that the only option left is to use sheer military strength to end these breakaway republics permanently.

This comes just days after the government raised the national DEFCON to 3, as result of global conflict. The recent instability in the world in general has affected most if not all nations, and several political commentators have hinted that 'the government wishes to appear strong in these times' and 'have Ayrira united in case of future threats'. The government have failed on numerous occasions to comment on this.

The main attention is on Saddia, the first region to declare independence and thus has more land, and as a result a larger military. Ekartina and Rashdid have been described as 'mininations', and the military will probably collapse these republics in a few days. Saddia, however, may prove to be a gruelling campaign of bloodshed and tears.

However, the sheer fact remains that this may prove to be a long war.

"Comrades, we are moving in," whispered Sergeant Khali bin Fahim.

To Private Mohammed Al-Assad, it was madness. Invading breakaway republics which you hadn't even talked to (minus one of them) seemed to him as rather quite mad. His father, the Prime Minister, had won the elections thanks to his strong anti-war politics. Why had he abandoned all of that now, whenever it was likely his own son would return home dead?

Well, at least this cost him an election. Probably, thought Mohammed, keeping low and checking his AK-47 was fully loaded, along with everything else he could reach. He had several grenades, thankfully, though he suspected he would have to use quite a few of them whenever a conflict-

"-Holy shit!" screamed the man beside him, as a sniper's bullet entered his right eye. Blood started gushing out of his head, and before a medic could get to him he was K.I.A.

They had been walking slowly into Saddia; crossing the border where so many before them had died. It was dark, the perfect time for an assault. However, the Saddians were fearless, believing they would go to their version of Paradise. Not so perfect.

Soon afterwards, the Saddians seemed to run out of the buildings which were just in front of the men, across the border. They were militants, but as the Ayriran Army knew, militants were usually fearless, be that for religion, politics or anything else.

"Take cover!" screamed Sarge, pushing a pale Mohammed out of the way as a grenade exploded just where Mohammed was standing only moments before. Unfortunately, that particular grenade exploded right whenever the Sergeant's forehead landed on, painting a scene Mohammed would never forget.

We are being slaughtered by militants! Mohammed thought, as he started crawling away from the battle - no, the butchering - scene, just looking to escape somehow and make it back to Kashdad, and make his Father stop this madness, one way or another.
