On 25 December 2008 at 19:00 Local Time, the national internet service of the Free Republic of Neo-Celts was attacked with a massive trogen horse virus called Spyware Block 2008. According to the report, it manifested itself on the mainframe of the Neo-Celts Internet Broadcasting Company (NCIBC) at that time. It then used the mainframe to redirect all computers in the nation to its website and auto-installed itself on to, what is being reported as, 85% of all computers in the nation. This led to all utilites in the nation to going out. 100,000 Neo-Celts who rely on electically operated medical equiptment lost their lives. It took 12 hours to get water and gas reactivated, nationally. It was not for another two days to get telephones and electicity back to the entire nation. It was not until 31 December 2008 before the full national internet grid was active again.
I personally was affected by this attack. The computers in the Prime Minister's residence were was so baddly hit that they had to have the hard drives reformatted. Additionally, like almost all other Neo-Celts, the 2M and I do not have television service.
This was a crushing blow to the nation. I am calling for the capture and prosicution of all persons responsable for this hainous act.
As a result of this attack, I have placed two bills before the Paliement. The first is a bill calling for increased spending at the NCIBC for service security. If they refuse to does so with in one week of the passing of the bill, a bill which will be voted on tomorrow, they will be shut down and a state run company will take their place. I have spoken to the president of the NCIBC, William son of Jordana. He has said that he will increase spending as soon as he gets more money for the government to do so. I am now, in this national address, telling him that he is already getting enough to increase security spending without an increase in governement spending.
The second bill, which I am asking the people of FRofNC to support me on, is to push the elections schedualed for 28 January 2009 be pushed back until to 4 Feburary 2009. This will give the national election committee the prepartion time that they lost do to the internet crisis back. I would have only ask to push the election back the three days they lost, however the Constitutional Court informed my that any election pushing had to be done had to push back to the next Wedesday that is not a holiday as the Constitution calls for elections to be held on a Wedesday only. The reason for that should be clear to all Neo-Celts, it and Tuesdays are the only two days of the week that are not days of rest for any of the major religions of the Free Republic of Neo-Celts.
I call on all Neo-Celts to support each other in this time of crisis. May the powers that we each believe in help us all through this trying time.
