OOC: Continuing from the below, all damages and ammunition used will be reset.
THERE SHALL BE NO, I REPEAT, NO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION USED. This includes use of viruses (Smallpox, etc.), nukes, Chemical Warfare, etc.

The missiles dodged past the fleet and headed towards their target. The Captain of the SSS Tiger made an urgent radio call back to anti-missile machinery operators back on land to get ready for an attack. It was mostly in vain, however, one missile, the one headed for the Weapons Stockpile, was shot down, though the explosion killed 36 of the 44 soldiers on the beach, the rest being badly injured. At the Imahi Square, just outside the CBD, the hundreds of people there watching the Stock Prices scroll across a screen were quickly obliterated into pulp as the bomblets exploded one by one. This caused a fire in the main building of Gregory & Sons. CO, the second largest investment bank in Sans Semmes. Fire crews were sent out to put out the flames, whether they would be successful or not had yet to be seen.
The other missile was headed to the Ministry of Health, ironically enough. The building, not built to withstand cruise missiles, was blown to pieces, and another 229 civilians died.

"Sir, Unkerlantum is attacking."
"Well, where the hell are their ships?"
"W - we don't know sir."
"Well go send some fucking Midget Submarines to look for them, brickhead! And while you're at it, tell them to look for your brain as well, or you'll get your ass kicked out of
here faster than Paris Hilton runs out of Credit Card Credit!"
"Y - yes, of course, sir."

A small fleet of 18 Midget Submarines went out in search of the main ship.

Encrypted Transmission to Government of Sans Semmes
From:Grand Marhsall Karl Burkhard, Commander Sans Semmes Theatre.

Leaders of Sans Semmes. You have already witnessed but a tiny fraction of what awaits you should you continue to defy the will of the Kaiser. The Kaiser's terms are not harsh, and are very generous. I assure you should hostilities continue the next set of terms will not be so desirable.

For the good of your people accept the Kaiser's terms and stand down your military forces in the ongoing global conflict.

End Transmission

VolkStein, Unkerlantum, two days ago

The city streets roared as the sounds of millions lined the city streets cheering the soldiers below their uniforms pressed and boots polished, their rifles cleaned and their minds set on the task before them. As they made their way aboard the awaiting ships which had been gathering in the harbor for days.

Tanks, artillery pieces, and trucks laden with supplies followed the procession of formations as they too were loaded up onto ships the instruments of war soon would play their chaotic melodies on foreign soil.

Some men were anxious, others scared but all were well trained, well equipped, and prepared for the task that awaited them. Unusal to other campaigns none knew their destination, the high command had decided all movements in such a global conflict be kept under the veil of secrecy.

It was not until the ships had left the cheering crowds that lined the harbor and put far out to sea that the men were told their target. The small nation of Sans Semmes would soon feel the wrath of the Reich's armies.

First Imperial Fleet, combined battlegroups Red, Green and Blue, Fleet Flagship Command and Control vessel Tyr 18 hours from Sans Semmes territorial waters.

Burkhard looked out across the horizon through his binoculars, the vast array of ships stretched out across the vast expanse of the sea. Burkhard pictured the fleet as an ancient army sprawled out for miles which would stop at nothing to attain their prize.

Burkhard turned away from the window his medals clanged together against his chance as he walked through the bowels of the ship making his way to a conference room a few decks below.

Upon entering the room the other men which had been seated jumped up and stood rigid almost like sculpted statues.

After Burkhard nodded and waved his hand the men, which were also well dressed in their fine pressed uniforms each man representing the various branches of the Unkerlantian military, their uniforms adorned with medals and other military awards all across their chests' retook their seats.

In the center of the room a projector sat atop a table, as Burkhard took his place at the head of the room a junior officer turned the projector on as a map was soon displayed on the screen. As the screen focused Burkhard began to brief the other commanders on the upcoming campaign.

"Sans Semmes, as you all are now aware is the location of the upcoming engagement.

Our satellite images have detected the enemy has deployed the bulk of if not all of their naval assets, while their deployment is sizable the quality of their equipment is by our standards somewhat lacking.

As of right now the enemy naval assets have been stationed just outside the city of Port Nairn.

We will take up station well outside the reach of their land based aircraft and force them into a naval engagement on the open seas. Upon reaching station we will reconvene here to discuss the continuing campaign.

For the time being, I want CAP patrols and have our submarines dispatch ahead of the fleet, and to the flanks.

You are dismissed. "

With that Burkhard left the room the other commanders leaving to return to their respective flagships.

Around the fleet flights of LU-12 fighters now roved in squadrons around the outskirts of the armada, in four hour intervals. For further surveillance four GLI-44 blackjester intelligence craft now took up station at all corners of fleet.

Beneath the waves roves of attack sub packs now took up their positions around the fleet preparing to engage any would be attack craft.

Why isn't the opponent attacking? The thought hung in Sylvester Aninston's mind.
"John, send out a mini-sub and see what the enemy fleet is doing."
"Yes, sir."
Over the next few hours, the thought gradually embedded itself into the President's mind, until, finally, he received a reply.
"Mister President...."
"Yes?"
"The enemy is sitting in the sea."
"It's sitting?"
"Yes. They're just sitting there."
"What are they doing?"
"Sitting."
"Well, if they're not going to do anything then we won't either."
"So, shall I hold back the troops?"
"Yes. Make them attack us. Remember, we're a lot safer in our compact harbour than out in the open ocean."

"Very well, sir."

"What is the status of the 7th Naval Division?"

"They are ready to repel any ground invasion together with Sans Semmes regular armies. They still have no losses."

"Good,as i won'y let them take any.Send the 8th Fleet on military practices close to Sans Semmes, but inform them to stay in International waters until further notice."

4000km From Port Nairn, Fleet Flagship Command and Control vessel Tyr

Burkhard looked over the latest intelligence reports, a somewhat puzzled look upon his face.

"Surely they wouldn't...ah well my enemies foolishness is my gain."

Burkhard spoke to himself under his breath before putting the report down back into its folder and sliding it into a desk drawer.

Burkhard then began a transmission, the last he would send before unleashing the full might of his armada on the Semmeian fleet which was assembled over the horizon.

Encrypted Message to Sans Semmeian government
From Grand Marshal Burkhard, Commander Unkerlantian forces, Sans Semme theatre.

This is the final warning you shall receive. Stand down your forces, no more of your people need to die.

Accept the terms. Save your people from suffering.

After sending the transmission Burkhard radioed the commanders of several of the Azores attack craft and Virginia class and Cartagena class sub groups, ordering them to take up positions flanking both sides of the harbor with five subs on both flanks of the harbor and three attack craft on each flank for a total of six attack craft and ten submarines now moving into attack positions.

In an effort to perhaps persuade the Sans Semme forces to accept the offer Burkhard also ordered his ships targeting systems to activate and begin locking on targets namely the ships in the front portion of the harbor and the numerous carries which comprised the Semmeian fleet.

Overhead CAP groups and surveillance craft continued to roam overhead ready to pounce on any attack craft that may be launched against the fleet below

[OoC; Alright. It's a tad late, but I'm joining in, as promised. We're fighting at Nairn, correct? Last time I checked, it seemed like you guys were.]

The Heirosoloan defense fleet that had been promised arrived promptly after Unkerlantum declared it's invasion of Sans Semmes. A mixture of cargo airships, as well as plain cargo ships, beached a small distance south of the port of Nairn, choosing not to dock straight into the battle zone. As soon as it landed, a communique was sent to the Sans Semmes government, asking them where they wanted the defensive equipment placed.

As we promised, our defensive fleet has just landed on your shores. We would like to keep control of them, and so although you can choose how you want them laid out, we believe we can better help you defend your country if we are leading our own men. So, we would like to know where you would like our forces placed. Unless we lose control of the skies, there should be a steady drop of supplies from airships while we retain a presence here.

With thanks,

The ships moved forward, slightly out of the harbour. Meanwhile, from a distant air base arrived 28 P-8 Poseidons, anti-Submarine bombers that had proven to be very successful in earlier battles. They split into two equal groups, and followed by dropping a total of 56 depth charges, distributed equally at the 10 submarines.
Following this was a swarm of 40 SH-60 Seahawks, flying at near sea level. These, too, split into two groups, but this time went after the 3 attack craft on each side of the harbour. They launched a total of 60 Mark-50 Torpedoes, distributed evenly at the 6 attack craft.

As the approaching planes and helicopters dropped their ordanance the Unkerlantian attack craft and submarines were quick to react, with the Azores attack craft crews hurridly firing off their six Shockhound Avenger I anti-ship missiles (http://http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8601244&postcount=27) aimed at front vessels inside the harbor while at the same time taking evasive action against the incoming torpedos. Only three ships managed to effectively launch their missiles before taking torpedo hits and limping away back towards the fleet.

Below the waves the misguided carpet bombing of depth charge attacks managed to destroy three subs outright and damage two others. Their crews perished almost instantly as their ships imploded beneath the waves, launching gysers of water high into the air.

In retaliation the remaining submarines fired arrays of four torpedos each, again towards ships near the front and entrance of the harbor. With the harbor lacking any kind of torpedo net and the large concentration of vessels in the confied space the torpedo's were nearly certain to strike something.

Over the horizion nearly 3500km's away Burkhard shouted into a mic as the sounds of alarms, and cries from the sinking vessels and damaged subs came in over the net.

"All vessels commence firing!"

Burkhard turned and began to monitor the

The words had just left Burkhard's mouth as ships across the fleet rocked as their ten Illium class destroyers VLS tubes fired off slavo after salvo of Sea Pike anti-ship missiles (http://www.forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13287235&postcount=215) targeting the Semmeian carriers and cruisers. In all some 1850 anti-ship missiles now streaked towards the Semmeian and Heirosoloan fleets in conjunction with the torpedo attacks.

Not wanting to be outdone eight of the Kristik class battleships from battlegroup red fired their own vls tube missiles putting up an additional 780 Sea Pikes again aimed at the Semmeian carriers, and cruisers.

Further the eight Ingerier class Battlecruisers from battlegroup blue fired their own salvo's putting up 240 missiles as was protocol their targets were the carriers and air defense vessels of the Semmeian and Heirosoloan fleets.

Burkhard now had a battle on his hands, he was confident in his crews and a sense of great confidence grew in him as he watched the outgoing missile trails streak towards the enemy forces.

A large portion of the Unkerlantian fleet had not fired their missiles in the first salvo and after a five second delay they fired their own sea pikes. In an opposite pattern as the salvo before.

It was hoped this would further aggrivate missile defense systems which would already be overwhelmed with the number of incoming missiles and decoy warheads they would deploy.

3 Virginia Class subs sunk
2 Cartagena Class subs damaged
3 Azores attack craft sunk

The 70 Ticonderoga Cruisers had positioned themselves at the front of the fleet, in four rows of 15-20-20-15. Those in the front row bore the full brunt of the enemy's torpedoes, and 5 were destroyed, while the others were damaged, some worse than others.
Those in the next three rows took on the task of shooting down the majority of the enemy's Sea Pike Missiles, and were mostly successful, although some got through. A further seven Cruisers were destroyed or sinking. Two Kittyhawk Carriers began to sink after being hit by some of the torpedoes, as were 11 Frigates and 7 Destroyers.
The same happened again in the second salvo, although those on the Cruisers were slightly less successful in destroying the missiles. A further six in the front row were sunk, and those that remained were badly damaged. One more of the Kittyhawk Carriers, and one of the Enterprise Carriers were sunk, and a Nimitz-Class Carrier was taking on water. 13 Frigates and 8 Destroyers were destroyed.
The shield of Cruisers fired back at the enemy, the 53 that remained fired a salvo of 424 RGM-84 Harpoon Missiles, equally distributed amongst their 10 Illium-Class Destroyers.
25 of the Arleigh Burke-type Cruisers fired a total of 1125 RUM-139 Vertical Launch ASROC (Anti-Submarine Missiles), distributed equally amongst all of the enemy's submarines hiding in the fleet.
Another 34 fired a devastating total of 2000 Anti-Ship Missiles, 1400 headed for the enemy's Aircraft Carriers and the rest at the air defense vessels.
Off of the two sinking Kittyhawk Carriers, one Enterprise and one Nimitz Carriers came 160 F-22 Raptors and 32 P-8 Poseidons. The Poseidons dropped more depth charges onto the submarines remaining in the flanks, while the Raptors, with no place to go (the fleet being 3500km away), went back to air bases in Port Nairn and Chianti.
The Poseidons and Seahawks went back to their station for refueling and rearming.

Burkhard chuckled to himself as he watched the incoming missile strikes and submarine strikes disappear on the incoming radar display screens as the futile attempts to strike the fleet fell harmlessly into the water.

Burkhard had positioned his fleet well outside the range of his enemy's weaponry, forcing them to either move out of the harbor, and away from ground based aircraft, or to sit and be pelted helplessly by the superior technology of the Reich.

As Burkhard looked on the fleet rocked again firing off a third identical salvo and then seconds later a fourth salvo launched from his fleet screaming towards the Semmian forces. The first salvo was focused only on the cruisers which were providing missile defense and the next salvo strictly targeted carriers.

By now the unkerlantian naval strike craft were to get involved as three squadrons of eight Lu-12 Canary strike craft fired off their air launched AGM-202C "Taipan" Air-launched Cruise Missiles (http://www.forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11129023&postcount=460)
particularly they were using the E variant due to its anti-runway bomblets, perfect since those were the targets for the Taipans.

Each Lu-12 would fire two cruise missiles at known air field locations aiming to disable their runways and rended them useless. After achieveing locks some 48 Taipans now rocketed towards Semmeian airfields.

Again the ability to stay out of harms way and still strike at the enemy would prove most beneficial to Burkhard and his outnumbered fleet.

As of now the battle was much in Burkhards favor despite losing his advanced forces his fleet remained untouched while the enemy would now have to deal with two more large scale missile strikes as well as land base targets now coming under fire. Having already lost a number of valuable naval assets.

Burkhard left the bridge briefly still dressed in his dress uniform not even bothering to change to a more suitable naval combat uniform like the rest of the crew. As he made his way to his chambers to relay the events back to the Admiralty in Volkstein he was confident that soon Sans Semme would be forced to negotiate unless they wanted their entire navy to rest at the bottom of the harbor.

Burkhard again sent a transmission to the Semmeian government.

Encrypted Message to Sans Semmeian government

By now I am sure you are aware that our weaponry is vastly superior to yours. While I must commend your commanders on their suprise attack which obliterated my advance forces it should be evident to you that the remainder of your fleet will be sunk should you continue to resist.

Not wanting to see the loss of life rise any further than it needs to I invite you or an envoy to discuss terms for peace. During said time I will order a cease fire of my forces, I should stress the term peace and not surrender.

This is the only such offer I am authorized to give, being educated and decent men I hope you will strongly consider it.

Seeing that their attacks had simply missed, the ships began to move out of the harbour. Not before, however, the third and fourth salvos came at them. The Cruisers rearranged themselves into two pacts, each with 27 ships. The one in front defended themselves from the first salvo, the ones at the back shot down the missiles headed for the carriers. It proved to be a very effective tactic, and only two more Cruisers were sunk. Anti-aircraft capabilities on the carriers shot down the majority of the remaining missiles, though another Nimitz-class Carrier began slowly sinking. 14 of the 48 Taipans hit their targets; with anti-missile facilities on the bases being able to mostly deal with them. Those that did hit devastated the runways, rendering them - in fact - no more than slabs of concrete.
Seeing that their attacks were useless, the entire fleet moved out of the safety of the harbour and into open ocean after some quick restocking. The submarines moved to either side. The Cruisers still lead the way, protected by frigates, and being trailed by the destroyers. The 70 Mini-Submarines sped forward. The Wasp Amphibious Assault ships fell back so as to accompany the big, bulky carriers.
Meanwhile, at Chianti, a large formation of 140 F-14 Tomcats was making its way towards the fleets at Port Nairn.

Burkhard shook his head as the transmission came back from the Semmeian government.

As the Semmeian fleet pushed forward Burkhard issues the order to sail south with all ships firing at will.

With the Semmeian ships maxing out at around 60km/h it would take quite awhile before they would be able to close range and be deploy their weapons against Burkhard's forces.

Further with Burkhard's fleet sailing away from the Semmeian fleet it would take them even longer, if not make it impossible for them to close range to use their weapons offensively.

As the massive armada began to turn they fired off a fifth, sixth, and seventh salvo of sea pikes each identical in number to the first two salvo's launched earlier that morning. Only now Burkhard had ordered them to strictly target the Semmeian missile defense ships and leave the carriers alone. Once these vessels were mostly destroyed the carriers would prove easy prey.

The LU-12 squadrons fired off another salvo of Taipans at remaining airfields before landing back on their respective carriers to rearm.

Burkhard admired the Semmeian commander's bravery leading his forces forward into what would amount to be a suicidal charge.

"How many of them must die before they realize they have lost the battle."

Burkhard thought to himself. A somber feeling rushed over him briefly before he brushed it back out of his mind. These were times of war, and death, however gruesome or unwanted it may be was a part of war. And conducting successful war was the task with which Burkhard had been entrusted to do by his superiors.

Overhead continued CAP's and AWACS type craft soared monitoring the oceans around the fleet for any incoming threats.

The salvos that were fired were, again, for the most part, shot down. However, with the large amount of missiles, seven cruisers were hit and sunk.
Realising now that their only hope was to take control of the war by air, 98 F-8 Poseidons joined up with the 32 that had destroyed the last of the advances, forming a 130-strong formation which quickly sped towards the enemy. They joined with the group of Tomcats which had arrived from Chianti, and were followed by a further 160 which lifted off from the carriers, and another 180, which had previously returned to Port Nairn and Chianti. They formed a 540-plane supergroup, hungry for some large explosions.
They would form three groups; one would send torpedoes shooting towards the anti-aircraft vessels, one would bomb the fleet, and one would stay back and defend against any enemy aircraft.
At least, that was the plan.
Meanwhile, the troops on the runways had been readied, though a further 10 missiles got through, badly damaging two of the runways, destroying another two and hitting a weapons supply shed.

Kace Heptar Stien's wolf pack of four Seawolf Submarines had finally reached the Sans Semmes theatre, ordering his men to stay out of the best SONAR range and staying five hundred thirty meters under the depths, this would provide the best protection against the ASW helicopters and planes. In the war room Stien stood idly as he watched the newest updates from the satellite uplink, apparently the Sans Semmes navy had finally moved out, but the carriers and LHDs remained in the harbor or trailing. Stien had decided that he would move his fleet back but maintain atleast two hundred fifty kilometers close to the enemy harbor, east of it, until they were far out of port and then open fire on the docked carriers. Meanwhile he made no attempt to contact the allied naval commander as that may or may not allow the enemy fleet to detect them, as of now they were a surprise, especially as now all unnecessary systems went offline.

Seeing as I can't really respond to something which, IC, I have no idea about...

The Military in Sans Semmes continued their operations, blissfully unaware that submarines were creeping up on their harbour.

The tankers arrived uninterrupted at Chianti, and there a day was spent unloading the aircraft and docking the ships themselves. Afterwards, the ships closed up and left the way they came, without any enemy presence.

The two hundred Tupolev Tu-95 bombers were soon rolled over to runways in good condition, and with a signal every bomber took off, each carrying a large number of cluster bombs with some carrying two FOABs each. The air fleet flew across the bay, bombs ready.

Kace Heptar Stien knew this was a probably a suicide mission, but he had orders to carry out. The satellite uplink feed had allowed him to see the movement of the ships and as thus the targeting began, but you vary well could not deploy Harpoon missiles at a depth so low, the pressure may of caused it to explode exiting the tube, and that was a theory Stien wasn't willing to test. He ordered a raise in depth to a hundred meters to permit the use of their cruise missiles, the rise would be slow, but due to the lack of Anti-Submarine helicopters in the area, (and being too far out for the bouys, atleast for a normal nation, since for the knowledge of Heptar Stien the Sans Semmes could have sonobouys positioned thousands of miles outside of their own international waters, though it was unlikely.) the elevation would probably not be detected.

It had taken some time for the wolf pack to finally reach the correct depth, and it was still unknown whether they had been detected, though this was highly improbable Stien was the type of commander to worry about to minuet chances of death. At the depth of nine hundred ninety meters below the surface he gave order to fire the full barrage of Harpoon Anti-shipping missiles. It would take atleast seven full barrages for each ship in the wolf pack to unleash their full compliment of fifty Harpoon missiles each, the total of two hundred sea-skimming missiles at about two hundred fifty meters. The missiles were aimed dead at the carriers, no other target was wanted, and being away from their main line of anti-missile defenses, it was an incredibly juice target at that.

Now they were exposed, and the wolf pack began to sink rapidly, though not too rapidly else the ship collapse in on itself. The wolf pack had no chance of survival, except one, and it was the order given over the radio by Heptar Stien, "Άνδρες, προσφορά μου σε όλους σας που οφείλονται, θα πρέπει να διαχωρίζει και ίσως ένας από εμάς μπορεί να αναφέρει στην υψηλή κυβερνήτη." And with that order the wolf pack ran silent, each submerging to different heights and splintering off in different directions. One towards to enemy fleet, hoping to catch them off guard, another directly sailing back home, the third sailing South-East, and Stien's sailing towards the shallower waters, where hopefully the sonobouys wouldn't be able to detect them due to the depth of the floor.

Aboard the SSS Tomkins, a Nimitz Class Carrier

The SSS Tomkins was suddenly rocked by a large explosion. Alarms began to beep loudly in the control room.
"What the hell is that?"
"Well, judging by the fact that I can't see any ships other than our own around, Sir, I believe a sub has attacked us."
"Damn it! Launch the eight Poseidons that we still have with us, and tell the Jelly Sandwich to do the same."

The Operator sent a telegram to the Captain of the SSS Jelly Sandwich.
"Желе Сандвічеві. Анти південь запуску літаків. Можлива атака південь."

A small group of 16 P-8 Poseidons was sent out, and told, basically, to depth charge the crap out of anything they saw. Half went to the enemy fleet - fearing a surprise attack there, and the other eight stayed and guarded the carriers.

Meanwhile, there was great distress in the harbour. Although the carriers were armed with some anti-missile facilities, it was not enough to fully protect them from the salvo. Almost all of them were struck in some fashion. 3 Kittyhawks, 2 Enterprises and 2 Nimitzes were half-submerged in water, their crew jumping into the water and swimming back to the shore. Only their captains remained, as they struggled to limp the ships back to the docks. A further 2 Kittyhawks, 1 Enterprise and 1 Nimitz were sinking, and the others were damaged in some fashion, though still usable. The sinking ships, too, sped back towards the safety of the docks.
