The Battle for Windermere

The army of the Centaurs was on approach in their great ships of war. The ballista were armed and th 10,000 heavy calvary onboard sailed to Windermere. The rest of the army 30,000 light cavalry, 5,000 heavy cavalry, and 15,000 archers (60,000 troops total) appraoched on land determined to colonize Windermere for themselves.

As the Elven scouts began picking up the Warhorns, the preparations for a siege-counter began. The smaller ships designed to navigate the waters of the Windermere began preparing themselves for war. As soon as the War Horns were heard, a small convoy sailed at a furious pace to the Summer Isles. As soon as it arrived and told of the approaching Demons a group of Warships and cargo ships left the dock to go fight these demons.

The newly finished walls of Elvish marble stood proud, topped with Elven Archers and scouts, watching the Demon army warily. A small group of elven riders left the gate of the colony, speeding towards the enemy army. As soon as they neared the army, they halted.

"Demons! You seek to attack a foe ready to defend itself, when there are so many other targets. You could be cut off from your home defenseless. So why attack us, when you could easily feed off the meat of lesser races. Whatever your reason, prepare to be slain!" And with that, the horse sprinted back to the gate, which shut promptly afterwards.

And true to their word, another Elven fleet, as well as a small army, had begun to dock to the South of the Windermere, in hopes of catching the Demons off guard, to be crushed against the marble walls of the colonies. If the demons were fool enough to fight the Snow Elves in their own home, then they would pay the price. And as the Centaurs approached, a much larger defense fleet materialized out of the Windermere, and began pelting the Centaur fleet with magical arrows and flaming arrows, as well as heavy ballista fire that exploded when it hit the ships.

The Centaur fleet began firing their ballista and attempted to head trowards the shore. The lead and last ships were decoys as the real threat lied in the smaller ships in the middle of the fleet. They formed a defensive barrier around the troop carriers. However of the 20 ship fleet 3 decoys were downed and 1 troop carrier was sunk. 2,000 Centaurs went to their watery grave. The rest of the fleet hit land and the remaining 8,000 heavy cavalry joined the larger Centaur force as it came into view. The force quickly moved out of the way of the ships firing range. The remaining Centaur fleet began pummeling the Elven fleet with every one of each ship's 6 balista.

[OoC; Six ballista? Wow. That's a lot.]

The Elven ships were mainly undamaged, but the crews had to take shelter, leaving only the pilot and the ballista crews on the decks of the ships. Soon the first Elven warship went down, but it was followed by no other ships. The larger Elven fleet began surrounding the ships and concentrating fire on one ship at a time, a deadly and risky move.

--

Meanwhile, the Windermere had been covered with Elven traps. Pits, traps, and scouts dotted the bog, with Elves appearing to pester the Demons and Centaurs with arrows before disappearing before they could be hit themselves.

The Centaurs were mostly unhindred by these traps as their forwad scouts had warned them. Yet it was them now who charged the scouts as they retreated following them back to their base.

Another warship went down and all hoped seemed lost. Yet that was when the ships lit their ballista on fire and and fired a stream of poisened at flaming arrows at their attackers.

[OoC; I'll just ignore the minor Godmoding.]

The Elven Scouts who were being chased began to fire arrows at the unprotected Centaurs following them. Knowing they could not return home, they split up and began wandering in a roundabout manner until the Centaurs would give up.

---

The flaming ballista were mainly put out by buckets of water, but the sails were another story, catching on fire until an Elven cleric cold put them out. However, the Elven stream of ballista shots and some flaming arrows continued to fire at the Centaur warships.

The Centaur force returned the favor before the Elves disapperaed. They began to march toward the center of the colony attacking trading posts and settlements along the way.

The warships pounded the Elven ships with the ballista. A few of the ships closed in on the enemy and great ramps came crashing down on to the decks. Centaurs piled on brining the fight to the enemy.

[OoC; Ehh. The colonies are just large walled cities. There are no trading posts or non-fortified settlements. And my elves didn't retreat to the colonies, they fled, avoiding the colonies.]

As the Centaur force approached they were met with arrows cascading down upon their heads, followed by enchanted boulders from multiple trebuchet around the city. As soon as the boulders hit the ground, they exploded in frightening blue flames that were as dangerous to enemy troops as they were to enemy morale. From the skies more boulders fell, as well as flaming crossbow bolts, fired by the gryphon riders who were well out of the range of Centaur arrows. Small warships began appearing out of the trees to fire more enchanted ballista bolts, as well as crossbow bolts and regular arrows, before disappearing back into the trees. Soon a magical fog descended upon the Centaurs, giving the falling arrows and warships much more effect, considering the Centaurs could no longer see them.

The warships pounded the Elven ships with the ballista. A few of the ships closed in on the enemy and great ramps came crashing down on to the decks. Centaurs piled on bringing the fight to the enemy.

[OoC; Prepare to be dominated.]

Any Centaurs who were foolish enough to try and attack the elves were met with arrows and crossbow bolts, as well as the occasional ballista bolt that were absolutely massacring the Centaurs at close range. However, before the Centaurs ballista could fire they were systematically fired at by the ballista of other Elven warships, this would most likely either destroy them or kill the crews and leave the ballista themselves too damaged to be fired.
The few Centaurs that survived were met with Elven swords and arrows that were quick to bite at any enemy opening left unguarded. Anytime there was an lack of Centaurs charging on the Elven ship a flaming arrow would fire, attempting to light the boarding bridges on fire or weaken them enough so that the Centaurs would break the bridges with their own weight, dropping Centaurs and the bridge into the waters below.
The remaining Elven warships would come up behind the Centaur ships that were boarding, and fire Ballista bolt t the deck and the masts, rendering them useless. It was a foolish move to try and board them, and one that was dealt with swiftly.

The Centaurs retreated back out of the range of the arrows and trebuchet. They could not attack the city untill the Demons arrived to help them. The hastily constructed a small camp with fortifications. A wooden wall and stakes surrounded the settlement for now. Yet the Centaurs kept a close watch on the skies. Their longbows were powerful enough to reach the gryphon riders but there was no point in letting them know that untill the time was right.

The Centaur fleet broke off the attack after they set fire to the mast of three of the boarded vessels. With all haste they made their way back home.

ooc: you really should have posted links to these in the OOC y'know. I i thaught people had just abandonded the idea..
IC: The waters behind the Snow elf ships began to bubble and froth violently as large sword fish shot from the water, followed by several more. The swordfish sailed straight over the snow elves (some piercing the sails) and smashing into the decks of the centaur ships, along with any of the beasts unfortunate as to be in the way.

The water was still being disturbed from beneath as a giant tentacle began to slowly rise up, 'gently' pushing a few ships out of it way, before rising up to smash into the deck of a centaur ship, another tentacle following it. And another. Together the 3 tentacles tore the ship apart with relative ease.

OOC2: POTC moment, ftw! Thats a giant octopus incase you hadn't guessed (Squid would be too much like POTC). Normaly I'd wait for Charzak to post damages but, baring some mirical, that ship isn't going to survive now is it? And before you acuse me of GMin or whatever, we've been over this. Without creatures my armys pretty damn weak.

The Centaur Navy seeing as they would not survive an attack from the combined forces of the snow elves and the creatures of the deep surrenders in full.
