To National and International Leaders,

It has come to the attention of management that ODECON may not be clear nor open enough about it's activities, and reasons behind them. It is therefore the intention of the Multilateral Authority and of the Offices of the President and Foreign Affairs Secretary that the creation of a formal Press Office was necessary.

When applicable, a formal press conference will be held, more often than not headed by our Spokeswoman, Olivia Bowerton. Periodically, press reports may be released, and all questions may be directed to our Press Office.

We thank you all for your attention, and look forward to answering questions and enquiries at upcoming conferences. We trust this will serve to further the trust of the international community in an Alliance which has, unfortunately, received all too much bad press through events outside of our control.

To National and International Leaders,

In a gesture that can only be described in terms of schoolyard bullying, The PeoplesFreedom recently attempted coercion on the international scale. The PeoplesFreedom demanded that Oceanic Defense Coalition cease their alleged support of communist nations. This allegation was based on military action against the Grand World Order conducted by ODECON in response to an unprovoked attack on Leistung by the GWO. ODECON's action against the GWO coincided with similar military action by the communist nation of Stoklomolvi. The fact that both ODECON and a communist nation launched simultaneous but unrelated attacks on the same country forms the basis for The PeoplesFreedom's ridiculous– in both content and inaccuracy– allegation that ODECON acts in support of communism.

At this point, it is necessary to point out ODECON is not an ideological alliance. ODECON does not support or condemn either communism or capitalism and it does not encroach on the national sovereignty of member states in order to demand adherence to a certain system.

However, The PeoplesFreedom has had the gall to demand of ODECON leadership that the alliance become expressly anti-communism. This move would limit the national sovereignty of member nations and alter the mission of the alliance– to defend members from attack. Should ODECON not comply, The PeoplesFreedom has threatened war. Clearly, this is nothing more than blackmail perpetrated on an international scale. The PeoplesFreedom has simply taken this opportunity to throw its weight– which, is substantially smaller than its leadership seems to believe– in order to mold a group of nations to its hateful and imperialistic ideal.

While it does not take a genius to realize that ODECON is populated almost entirely with staunchly capitalist nations, nations which reserve no love for communism, we are not willing to sink to the bigoted lows of the The PeoplesFreedom and decry a harmless ideology simply because it is not what we believe.

In a stand for national sovereignty, ODECON has made it clear that it has no intentions of complying with The PeoplesFreedom's ultimatum and becoming an anti-communist alliance. While we know that ODECON has its share of enemies, we would be hard-pressed to find a nation who does not believe in the preservation of sovereignty. We hope that the international community will recognize the common brutishness of The PeoplesFreedom's actions.

Cameras, flashes, and the faces of eager reporters all awaited Olivia as she stood at the podium. Taking a deep breath as the autocue began rolling, she released the pre-written statement.

"Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press.

It is with a measure of regret and disappointment that I must announce the departure of the Imperial Republic of Greston and The Alliance Star Confederation from ODECON, by mutual agreement and withdrawal of membership respectively.

Whilst I cannot go into detail, it was felt that the creation of AMNAT took the administration of the Imperial Republic in a different direction to that of ODECON, and for both organisations to flourish, it was agreed that the Imperial Republic's time was better spent administrating their newest project.

The Alliance Star Confederation found that the priorities and aspirations of ODECON and the Congress no longer matched their own, and in due course decided to rescind their membership to ODECON.

To both nations, ODECON wishes the bet of luck in all future endeavors, and regrets that our differences could not be worked out.
