Beatusian International Gazette

The Beatusian High Command today, announced a plan, to revitalize the Beatusian Navy, including the purchasing of many new ships, and the decommissioning of some older models. The overall goal, is to have at least 1,000 ships in the Beatusian Navy. At this time, the High Command, plans on purchasing 28 Guide Missile Battleships, 80 Guide Missile Battle Cruisers, 140 Guide Missile Cruisers, 180 Guide Missile Destroyers, 220 Guide Missile Frigates, 42 Aircraft Carriers, 250 Attack Submarines, mainly from foreign companies, if they are able to provide what is desired, that is. If not, than the High Command, will turn to the native Beatusian shipbuilders, however, they have been know in the past to overcharge, for substandard workmanship, and therefore, the High Command wishes to give the international community an shot at filling the large orders. This could mean very lucrative, long term contracts for some of the more prominent dockyards around the world. We do have some information on these ships, they definately will not be nuclear powered, as the Beatusian Military is reaffirming their policy of being a non-nuclear organization.

The Commonwealth has many fine candidates to meet your needs. Please review our missile frigates (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=14001106&postcount=41), our destroyers (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=14001109&postcount=42), our escort carrier, battleship and heavy cruiser (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13964813&postcount=23), and our supercarrier (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13973436&postcount=29). We hope that at least some will meet your needs.

To the CFUS,

We have reviewed your proposals, and wish to purchase, at this time, 5 Priam-class Destroyers, and 8 Shahriyar-class missile frigates, to evaluate their performance, and determine if they meet our needs. If so, we may chose to purchase more. We would like a price per ship, for each class, and the amount of time, it will take, from order, to delivery, for both the initial purchase, and the possible future purchases. All of these factors, will go into our decision on purchasing. We also wish to know about your return policy, and any warranties you have. We are not foolish enough to think that you would provide warranties on combat damage, but wonder if you are willing to stand by your workmanship, and provide warranties on no-combat damage, that may occur due to material failure, or poor craftsmanship, over a set period of time. The final question we have, is about the payment, will you require the full sum upfront, or can we just put a down a down payment when we order, and pay the rest on deliver, or workout some kind of payment plan? Each of these issues matter to us greatly, and will affect your ships chances in this program. We thank you again for your offers.

Signed,

The prices of the ships are marked in their files, though, for simplicity, the Shahriyar-class is $20.1 million USD, and the **Priam is $15.2 million USD. The total cost would be 5x 15.2 plus 8x 20.1, totaling 312.8 million. An initial payment of $104.27 million (1/3 of the cost) could be reached as a down payment, with two additional payments over the course of delivery. We also assure that, as these vessels present the backbone of the Commonwealth fleets, both the Priam and Shahriyar will perform well and meet the standards of the finest navies. If there is any part of this which disconcerts you, feel free to send further correspondence.

Re: 1000 Ship Navy

For capital ships such as battleships and large aircraft carriers, and for some large escorts such as battlecruisers and large missile cruisers, it is standard design practice at our shipyards to use nuclear reactors for propulsion, to save on space and fuel. Therefore, unfortunately, we cannot fulfill the full terms of your contract. However, we can fulfill one of your requirements straight away, with the AC-12 Cyprus, our conventionally-powered medium carrier. We hereby tender an offer of 42 AC-12s, to be built at a variety of shipyards owned by our subcontractors around the world. Further, feel free to peruse our catalog (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=14335975&postcount=7); perhaps our other ships not powered by smashing atoms - from a high-speed hydrofoil landing craft or minelayer, to a swift and long-ranging oceanic patrol craft, to a large helicopter destroyer, to a light and inexpensive training ship or minehunter - would interest you.

AC-12 Cyprus
Supercarriers are expensive to operate, given their crew requirements and the cost of simply maintaining such massive vessels. On the other hand, to build a carrier that carries just 10 or 20 Harriers or F-35Bs can seem a bit absurd, considering the expenses involved in carrier operations. Thus, Michael Shipyards presents our first 'medium carrier' for the global defense market, carrying 46 airplanes and 4 helicopters. We chose a 915-foot hull, giving more than sufficient room for these aircraft; to improve the capabilities of the Cyprus, we've fitted it with 12 launchers for the P-700 Granit anti-ship missile, along with five 8-cell Mk.6 VL systems for the SAM-97S, five SeaRAM point defense systems, and four Kashtan point defense systems. Further, we have armored the flight deck with 2.5" of RHA steel to improve damage control.

Crew: 3400

Operational range: 23000km at 40 km/h
Length: 915' (279m)

Draft: 35' (10.7m)
Armor: 2.5" (63.5mm) RHA steel
Armament: 12 launchers for P-700 Granit [aka SS-N-12] SSM, 5 SeaRAM mounts, five 8-cell Mk.6 VL mountings for SAM-97S, 4 Kashtan point defense systems (each with 2 GSh-30k six-barrel 30mm cannon & 2 quad launchers for 9M311 [SA-N-11] SAMs)

The first Priam can be completed in one month, while the first Sharhiyar can be completed a week later. One more from each class will be sent via our shipyards in Motokata. Full delivery will take 6-8 months, and a full order would take a year or more as we continue to expand our shipbuilding enterprises.

What alterations do you require?

To Michael Shipyards, C. of DC,

Well, first, could the armor, be moved from the flight deck, to the hanger deck, as we find that a more suitable place for them. Also, we wish to know, what kind of flight deck this ship has, CATOBAR, or ski-jump ramp? We would prefer the former. Finally, can we request the ships, without the electronics, I.E. Radar, Sonar, etc., as we would prefer to use our own equipment, for the sake of standardization. If that is not possible, due to the way such equipment is put in place during the construction of your particular ship, than we understand, however, it would be preferential.

Re: Proposed alterations

First, apologies for not clarifying that the flight deck is a CATOBAR flight deck. Second, transferring the armor to the hanger deck should not be a problem. Third, most of the electronics can be removed; however, the SAM-97S was designed to work with the SAL-49 Lidar, so that cannot be removed. Similarly, the 1RL144N radar system is designed for the Kashtan point defense mount, so it, too, cannot be removed. It is preferable if you send technicians to our shipyard facility at Seoul-Inchon with the appropriate electronics, so that they may be properly integrated into the ship.
