Well, seeing as how my nation does not fit the bill for all the MT and FT threads around, and as I'm trying to get back into RPing here after a couple month long hiatus, I was interested, as the title suggests, in whether or not anyone would like a more fantasy or past tech styled RP. And no, I don't have any idea what it would be. Wanted to measure interest before I went through the trouble of thinking of something.

Sure, why not. My PT/Fantasy nation/characters do not nearly get enough attention nowadays.

Personally, I much prefer chracter based, as I feel its more immersive, but, I'm good for whatever you guys/anyone else whos interested would want.

I could do character based, although I never have before. At least not in II.
So, more likely Fantasy then PT than. PT character based RPs would be a little hard.

I might be interested. I'll have to see the set-up first, though. I have some high expectations when it comes to fantasy, being a writer of such, but if I like it, I'll probably join.

I think some fantasy-based RPing, especially nation-based, could be fun (not to mention that its something I don't see very often). Character-based would be way too much like DnD for it to hold my interest unless the plot is good.

I would rather do a fantasy nation RP myself.
As long as there are regulations on 00bering. No sending out armies of invincible dragons our having godly warriors with power levels over 9000.

I would also prefer countries (large or small, doesn't matter), with more of a realistic touch to them. Something like A Song of Ice and Fire, if you know it.

I feel like an idiot asking this, but how do you add polls to a thread? Never had to do it before.

And, I love A Song of Ice and Fire. Bugger just needs to hurry up and finish the series already.

So were you thinking of something along the lines of having claimable countries, or more of a make a country and claim your territory sort of thing?

I dunno about the polls.

More the latter. Maybe get a map and allow people to pick locations and general sizes, and go with that. But I certainly wouldn't make up the countries yourself and let people pick those.

And, that sounds better to me to. Let em be free to make their own and all that.

Character base will offer a more personal touch to the rp, making it a better experience. Nation-based ones attrach alot of guys who just run around invading with 20 million dragons and such.

That's why you make sure people don't overpower their countries. Countries also allow for character-based.

If I do make it country, it will have very strict rules. Although, as stated, I prefer character, pretty much for the reasons Kuilkovia stated. Although a mix is interesting.

To be honest, it really doesn't matter to me if it's character or country.

I far prefer character, I'm not terribly interested in doing a fantasy nation.

Could always only do characters even with countries. Need a setting, anyway.

I would prefer a character Rp myself...

If we do character I'll most likely make up the setting myself.

I'm a big fan of character-based RP's and there aren't enough of them.

Well, definetly seems like we'll do it character. ALrighty, gimme a bit to think of something.

Country or race vs race. (Like Elves vs. Humans vs. Goblins vs. Centaurs vs. Minotaurs)

Well allow me to change that for you! I'd prefer a Character RP too, but i'm wondering about the Tech Level; what would fantasy entail? Does it have to be knights in shining armour and all that?

Hmm....Good question.....We could always do it Final Fantasy styled. You know, have an odd mixture of futuristic technology and medieval weaponry.

The last time I was in a PT thread here, all the players seemed to have a different idea about what they wanted to do. I thought we were going to have a massive war against humanity with realistic technology but lots of races, so I played a human city state with plate armoured foot soldiers, crossbows, citizen militias and the like. Others wanted to have anime-style uber characters, some wanted to play Warhammer and for some reason Imperial ISA had Napoleonic dragoons.

For the love of god, get your aims clear and be extremely specific about what tech is allowed.

I put in for country, partly b/c I'm in a character RP already (I've nothing against them), and because I like the Narnia idea. And personally, I like to develop my national personalities in a very 3-D fashion. But I know that not every body does that. IE Some dude says that President Omamalama says issued a declaration of war I would say that President-General Valdez threw papers around his office in frustration and turned bright red when his love interest, Ms Raenel, the Defense Minister, saw his outburst. (although it'd be better if I actually, ya know, wrote it and not summarized it lol)

Anyway, I think this should be completely separate from our NS rps and that everyone starts off roughly the same. I don't know about everybody else, but whether or not this is char. or country, I'm using my Spore creation for my character/populous.

Im down for anything Fantasy, steampunk or cyberpunk. Just not modern era plz.

I could go either way as well, but I've been watching for a good Fantasy thread to come up again. I much prefer it to MT or FT, and I would be playing as Men, maybe as large as a country, but I was thinking more like a Knight in another players kingdom. Just thought of that. Yeees, that would be veeeery fun, yees.

Haha, sorry mate, pretty much set on Character. However, I'm toying with the idea of letting you have a country for the RP, but just having your character be from there.

A thread I started up way back when. It died, because I went missing for about six weeks. Tried it again, same thing happened prertty much. Had to do with vampires. Apparently people liked it while it was alive though.

I figured it would be like that from the start. I'm fine with Character, I just... I plain like being able to set up your own country.

Your character could try to take over whatever country this is set in. Just because it says character rp doesn't mean you can't think outside the box. :)

Anyhow, I'm always up for a new rp. Though most of the ones I've been in lately have either sucked or not lasted long, I'm willing to give a new fantasy one a try. By the way, I too voted character based.

Well, it stands for The Blood Containment Squad, but basically it's a "wipe out the vampires" squad, except for my little twists... MUHAHAHAHA!!!

And I'm for the idea of a character based RP, though having a fictional map drawn up with lots o' land for us to divide up like a giant game of Fantasy Risk might not be bad either. If we go Song of Ice and Fire, though, I'm claiming dibs on the Valyrian Freehold, or equivalent.

LOL, since it seems I can't quite keep this dead (Kidding) I'll get working on the actual RP. Should be up either tonight or tommorrow, depending on how lazy I am and how long I decide to stay up tonight.

Well, right now I don't really have anything much for a story, and at the moment I'm thinking of some way to make sure people balance their characters. (Because even the best of RPers sometimes God-Mod when characters are involved)

Like classes or something. Like maybe

Soldier: Good with weapons, can't use magic
Mage: Poor with weapons, good with magic

etc.

I'm thinking more along the lines of stats and a point system or somesuch....

I like classes better.

The only problem I have with classes, is they generalize too much. For instance, if someone were too choose a warrior class, they would have their guys move lightning fast and be able to knock over a tree in one hit. (Slight dramatization)

Well, we could weaken them and make some rules for them...
