The Rio Grande-
27-12-2008, 15:30
In 1840, The Repbulic of the Rio Grande was formed on the continent of North America in an attempt to keep their rights as states of a federal republic safe after General Antonio López de Santa Anna became the dictator of Mexico. Under President Jesús de Cárdenas, the republic had a stead run for about a year. It then was put under Mexican control. The people of the Rio Grande States have been longing for independence once again. And let the records show that, officially, on Saturday, December 27, 2008, a mere five days till the new year, The Republic of the Rio Grande has gained independence once again.
From the Office of Acting President Adán Ruiz
To the Nations of the World
Let it be known today, my fellow nations, that we, states of Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas declare our final independence from the United Mexican States. After the dictatorship took over, we longed for freedoms. Declaring independence in 1840, Mexico once again took us over. For many years, we felt our rights were taken away, even after the republic was reinstated. In 2005, I, Ambassador Adán Ruiz, started talks with Mexico. For 3 years our claims were denied, but we got closer to agreement each time.
Finally, in early 2008, Mexico granted us independence. We were so happy, yet, we didn't know what to do. So, Mexico 'occupied' our territory and held us set up a formal government. Our constitution was only finished recently, which waqs when Mexico granted usa official independence. So today, on December 27, 2008, I, as an ambassador for the Rio Grande people, declare the Rio Grande an independent nation, free of Mexican rule and occupation. We declare the parts of Texas we once owned independent with us, as a part of the true Rio Grande Republic. I will be acting president until elections later in 2009, which will probably result in my win due to the large support I'm receiving for our independence.
To my fellow nations, I hope this is a beginning of a new era in the world, in which the Rio Grande may grow and prosper and interact with other nations. We are excepting any diplomatic relations as of now, as well as trade routes and embassis. We thank you for taking time to read our announcement and hope you recognize us as independent.
God Bless,
Acting President Adán Ruiz
