The Royal Proclamation (Open)
The Tagorian Mountains
24-12-2008, 02:50
OOC: Geographically speaking, Tagoria resembles Japan but it is rich in natural resources unlike its RL counterpart. Also, Communist nations do NOT know that the King secretly harbors ill will towards Communists while allowing them to have relations with Tagoria. He's of the opinion that Communist nations are inherently flawed because they follow an inherently flawed school of political thinking.
The King of Tagoria sat on the exquisite floor mat with his eyes focused on the board game in front of him while the pagan chaplain was planning his latest move in his attempt to defeat his lord. Although chairs were certainly avaliable, the King of Tagoria and other elites in Tagorian society preferred to have themselves seated on the floor when partaking in these games of logic that they often played or when enjoying conservation. In the old days, some Tagorian clansmen associated it as a method of encouraging solidarity with your fellow men. "Your Majesty," the chaplain said with a smile as he moved one of his pieces, "I believe that it's good to see you attempting to bring Tagoria into the world. We know about it, yes, but it's proper for the world to know about Tagoria."
The King pondered for a moment. "It is but mere common sense that a nation ought to interact with those around it because, nowadays, the world is so interconnected. Besides, even if we were not to reveal ourselves, the world would probably find us on its own merit. Splendid isolation, though quite lovely, needs to be discarded."
The chaplain watched the King make his move and smiles as he noticed the King has left himself open. "Perhaps I will make a prayer or two for the sake of your program to the Gods who watch over us. Perhaps, the Gods will bring us all sorts of people wanting to be our friends. The Gods, though, work in mysterious ways. Who knows what they will do? I, a mere chaplain, am well versed in the rites but yet know nothing of the Gods when it comes to their thinking."
As the King made another move upon the board, the Foreign Minister walked into the room where he was with the chaplain. A smile came upon the King's face as he looked to see one of his closest friends in the court. "Ah, it is a pleasure to see you, my dear Karan, and I do hope that your work has borne good fruits."
The chaplain smiled, making another move on the board, as the Foreign Minister bows before giving a response to the statement of his lord. "Everything is going well, Your Majesty, and I do believe we should see foreign leaders wanting relations with us quite soon."
The King beckons the Foreign Minister to him, asking him to sit with him and the chaplain, and the Foreign Minister decides that wouldn't be a problem at all as he takes his seat on a spare mat while his eyes scan the board. "My hope is that the Kingdom shall be known throughout the world. It is essential to the well being of our realm. Also, it's always good if Seka knows more about the world then what faint knowledge of it we tell her."
Seka was the King's fourteen year old heir to the throne and, as such, was usually on his mind whenever politics were concerned. King Marek VI wanted nothing more than for her to inherit a prosperous and peaceful nation. Marek finished off his last move, surprising the chaplain with his victory, and turned to the Foreign Minister as he spoke. "Your Majesty, Seka is sure to learn much more about the world through your venture."
The chaplain nodded. "Wisdom comes through experience, Your Majesty, and experience of the world will impart wisdom upon her tender mind. Man is like clay in this world. He may be moulded into whatever is desired. So far, you have done a mighty job of molding her into a good child. Even though I suspect her of posessing doubts as to the existence of the Gods, I do not have a quarrel with her at all."
The King laughed. "Do you think that she needs to believe in them, my dear chaplain? I shall not impair on her natural right to choose what she wants to believe in."
The Chaplain waved his hand. "No, my liege, I do not believe in forcing her to believe in them though I would certainly think that the Gods would enjoy that. The Gods gave us free will to believe in them or not to believe in them. In the end, we pave our own way to the promised world."
Eventually, the King took his leave of his two colleagues while the Foreign Minister went to make sure the work was done and while the chaplain went to his chapel for prayers. As the King walked down the halls of the citadel where he lived, his eyes scanning the portraits of famous people and events of the past, he could hear the voice of his beloved daughter trailing him from behind. Seka, dressed in a warm cloak due to the winter season being prevalent, took her position beside her father as he walked. "Father, I'm finished with my studying of the Tagoriad. It certainly is an exquisite document."
Marek nodded his head in affirmation as they walked down the halls of the citadel which were adorned with windows showing off the winter wonderland of the outdoors and the walls showing off the heroes of old. King Marek knew that his wife and other children were occupied with their own interests and that this was the chance to lecture his child and hopefully convince her of the merits of retaining the status quo. "You will, someday, be in charge of this nation when I end up as a bunch of bones in some coffin. Remember that you must keep the people in mind regardless of what their position in our nation is. Remember to be wary of the Communists. Even though they may act friendly, they may attempt to overthrow you. I have heard of the stories surrounding them. They kill, they rape, they destroy culture. You must not allow any Communist to hold power in this nation. You must remember that Tagoria must always be held first in your mind. No other nation should deserve the totality of your good will."
As Seka attentively listened to her father's wisdom, the Foreign Minister was sitting in his limosuine as it drove off from the citadel towards the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry where he worked; his eyes were focused on a copy of the Royal Proclamation which he had managed to get his hands on for private contemplation. As the Foreign Minister, Mylo Karan knew that he had to succeed here; he knew that the King had high hopes for him.
The limosune drove into the streets of the capital, Odun, and Karan smiled as he looked over the proclamation one last time before eventually resigning himself to the notion that all would end well. He didn't know that the King was telling his daughter to be wary of Communists or that the Monarchy must be ruthlessly maintained or that the King, while not minding relations with the Reds, would secretly think that they were deluded idiots.

From: Mylo Karan, Foreign Minister, His Majesty's Government of the Kingdom of Tagoria.
To: Whomever is willing to take the time to read this.
Leaders of the world,
His Majesty, King Marek VI of Tagoria, has decided that the Kingdom of Tagoria will begin opening its doors to the nations of the world in the name of diplomatic relations regardless of your nation's ideological and religious background. Our monarchist and pagan nation does not mind relations with those opposed to monarchist government and/or still-prevalent paganism.
We humbly ask that all national leaders interested in relations with our nation proceed to request an embassy and consider opening trade with Tagoria; we see this as the foundation for further relations. Our nation believes in the individual rights of all individuals; missionaries of foreign religions are welcome in our nation but only if they promise not to spread doctrines which may incite treason and acts of barbarism.
Those who disagree with monarchism but are still willing to be our friends are more than welcome to open embassies in Tagoria. The King of Tagoria is hopeful that his nation and its people may learn more about the world. It is essential for the sake of avoiding needless bloodshed that ideological differences will not inspire conflict.
If your nation is willing, conferences may be held to formally discuss relations between our nations. Certainly, I would be more than willing to visit other nations for the sake of relations and, perhaps, the King would as well. If you would like to invite His Majesty and/or his family to your nation, please file a request with us. We will make sure that it gets a proper response.
We hope that you will look favorably upon this letter of ours.
Signed,
K. Karan,
Foreign Minister

Minister,
It pleases us to have recieved such a warming response from the Empire of Chazaka and it pleases us as well to permit the establishment of a Chazakan embassy within the existing embassy district in our capital, Odun, which we hope will be to your liking. The specifics you have listed are more than acceptable in our opinion.
It would not be a problem at all for us to establish an embassy in your nation; we will arrange for an ambassador to be sent soon with the usual armamemts which would basically be assualt rifles and batons. As for the King's visit, he would certainly be interested in visiting Chazaka if it were possible; would his family, though, be able to accompany him?

The Kingdom of Tagoria is pleased to hear that the Republic of Lundastal is willing to recognize our status as an independent and sovereign state and that we desire nothing short of the full establishment of diplomatic relations with your nation.
The Kingdom of Tagoria is a homogeneous nation which reflects off the statistics we have gathered over several decades; only Tagorians live in our nation but we do not subscribe to xenophobic policies. Although we are an absolute monarchy, it does not bother us to open relations with democracies and other non-monarchies.
We thank you for your best wishes and desire nothing but complete and total friendship with Lundastal.

As she continued to study the massive biography about the founder of the Kingdom, Princess Seka remembered the words of her father about maintaining the heavily centralized and absolutist government that her ancestors strived to keep maintained and his warnings to be wary of Communists which she had learned about from tutors who despised them. They had told her that Communists were destroyers of culture and families and that they would exterminate every trace of Tagorian monarchism that could be found. Seka did have a copy of the Communist Manifesto in her bookshelf but she did not read it often. As she was studying, her father came into the room with a smile upon his face and with a letter in his hands. "My dearest child, I have come to offer you a proposal. How would you like to visit the nation of Greal?"
Wearing nothing but the warm winter clothes that she had procured from the best of the best in the fashion industry of the realm, Seka swiftly turned around to look at the man who she was destined to succeed. "Greal," Marek began to say, "is a republic that seems to not mind our monarchist ways. It is essential that we secure good relations with them. They even invited us to visit their nation and I thought you would be interested. As heir to the throne, you must know as much as you can about the world around you."
Seka nodded. "It would be proper then, I suppose, if I were to visit Greal. Sure, I'll join you and the others on a visit. Just let me pack up what I need before we head out."
The King nodded before exiting his daughter's room only to find that the leader of the Royal Guard was waiting for him in his fully medaled uniform and his hands buried within the pockets. As the head of the Royal Guard, it was the responsibility of Desil Pardan to make sure the Royal Family was fully protected whereever they went. "I shall make sure the finest men are with you in Greal, Your Majesty, for we would not want to feel the sting of Death just yet."
The King boisterously laughed as he walked with Desil down the halls of the citadel which were adorned with exquisite floral designs; occassionally a maid or butler would bow as they saw the King pass them. "I am sure that the Royal Guard will provide me only the best men around. It has existed for centuries and has always done a mighty fine work in protecting my ancestors from harm."
Desil concurred. "The Royal Guard will always serve the Kings and Queens of Tagoria as it has done for centuries, Your Majesty, but perhaps it would be best if you get packing for the trip to Greal? You would not want to be rushing at the last minute."
The King agreed and sped off to his chambers where he would pack up the items that he felt would be needed for his visit to Greal. His wife was already packing her own things for the visit such as her journal and some feminine items typically found in the royal bathrooms. Eventually, everyone was packed and ready to depart. The Foreign Minister was swiftly ordered to send this reply to the Government of Greal:
President,
A lot for your nation to construct an embassy upon is officially ready for your immediate use; the King and his family are also ready to depart for Greal whenever your nation is ready to host them.

[SUBJ] Opening Relations
Greetings from the Kampferian Reich, and congratulations on emerging from isolation. Although Kampfers hardly reaches past the far reaching grasps of Haven in foreign affairs these days, your nation has caught the interest of the Führer himself. Our nation has no problems with your self described monarchism and paganism, as we also have a monarchy ruling our nation. Frankly, the little we know about your nation reminds us of another nation we already share good ties with, that being Zukariaa. If your nation is half as amicable as Zukariaa, then I am sure that our nations will share at least good relations. I suppose I should describe a little more about Kampfers to allow you to familiarize yourself with the nation before we discuss possible relations. Although the majority of Kampferian citizens are Christian, there is no specific religion that the people must follow. Kampfers is an extremely capitalist society, with low tax rates and no trade restrictions. We are ruled by the Führer of Kampfers, each of which is a descendant in the House of Richtoff. By knowing a little about our nation, hopefully you will be in a better position to speak of diplomatic requests.
I would first like to extend the courtesy of opening an embassy for your nation in Kampfers Stadt, as you have already offered to do for us. Furthermore, we would be interested in not only offering the opening of trade relations, but also exploring the possibilities of free trade. We believe that such an agreement would be mutually beneficial to both of our nations, as Kampfers can surely provide some goods and services better than can Tagoria, and vice versa. Mikel II, current Führer of Kampfers, has informed me that he would be more than willing to entertain the current Tagorian monarch in Kampfers Stadt to discuss other diplomatic possibilities if your monarch was so inclined.
Sincerely,

[OOC: Welcome to NS.]
The annals of history are littered with the details of nations who, from time to time, have ventured forth from a period of containment and isolationism to wander freely in the mist of international politics which dominates this confused, and slightly immature, world at war. Many of these nations have grown over time to become gigantic superpowers, be it military or economic, and more have perished at the hands of the very fingers of the clock itself. It is rarely possible for the Foreign Office to ascertain exactly which of these any new nation would be. Nonetheless, they have previously given aid, both economic and military, to budding nations who could be friends of the Empire.
Fort Mogami is a bit of a misnomer; she is actually a palace, of fifteenth century construction, and had at some points been used as a fort by various Kings and Emperors, but at least at this point in time she was entirely civilian, with the exception of the honour guard of 1st Brigade Jesselton SNLF. It was from this palace, built on a three hundred metre tall hill, that the Land Rover Discovery snaked down the road to the bottom, passing multiple checkpoints quickly. From there on it drove to the river side and after a short period crossed a bridge and drove to a halt outside the Foreign Office building, which was of colonial design - like all buildings in the Empire - and thankfully air conditioned.
Wiping his forehead of tropical sweat, First Secretary to the Foreign Secretary - or First Foreign as he was referred to - strode briskly from the car to the Foreign Office main door, gave a friendly wave to the armed security guards who were playing cards and smoking in the security room, and proceeded to the conference room on the second floor. Upon arrival he shook the hands of those present and took the head seat, as the Foreign Secretary himself was away on business at the Kingston Pact Congress in, unsurprisingly, Kingston. It happened semi-regularly and John Foster was used to taking the seat of his direct superior.
"Sorry I was late. The King wanted a little more advice than I thought. What do you have for me today, then?" he said, lighting up as an analyst pushed the ashtray towards his side of the table.
"Erm, standard business. Things aren't getting any better in the Straight. We are proposing the proposition that we intend to propose..." he stopped. "You know, that is a silly codename," the analyst frowned.
"Tom thought it was amusing," another replied.
"It's just stupid."
"Hey, chill. It's just a funny name," Tom leant back in his chair and threw some smoke from his mouth.
"Whatever." the first analyst shrugged. "And then there's the international border changes, which you don't really need to see. And new nations...you don't need to see those either. It's a quiet day tomorrow. I imagine that by the time we are having this conversation tomorrow, the world will be a different place." The analyst sighed and let his eyes track the length of the Strobovian Straight on the large map of Haven that adorned the right wall.
"Waterfront?" Tom asked, referring to the bar where they would spend the next hour, presuming that work was finished.
"Hold on," Foster said, "I'd like to see the new nations dossier."
"Why?" the analyst replied. "Nothing of importance."
"I just want to see it. I like reading them," Foster shrugged.
"It's just a waste of time."
This was typical. The work ethic of Questarians, especially those who work in Government, is spectacularly dismal. Not only is it the heat, but also the very work culture of Questaria, black or white, that saps the will to do any serious work for more than a few hours every day. No wonder the country's position in the world was slowly slipping. It didn't really irritate Foster in the slightest: he was the exact same.
"Piss off and give me the dossier."
The analyst shrugged and slid it across the table. They all sat in silence, some smoking, while Foster read through them. "Hold on," he said. "How did you miss this?"
"What?"
"This nation has an Anti-Communist rating of Staunch/Very-High. You missed it. Here, The Tagorian Mountains."
"Christ," the analyst pushed a hand through his hair. "It's just some tinpot Jap dictatorship."
"A monarchy, actually," Foster murmured in reply, his eyes continuing to scan the document.
"Oh come on. Who cares. There's a G&T with my name written on it waiting for me at Waterfront." the analyst replied in annoyance.
"What can we send them?"
"Some Shawshanks and some Cossacks, I suppose," the military attache replied. "There's plenty of those left. We've just come out of a war, to be fair."
"Then let's get to work." Foster said, withdrawing the dossier files on Tagoria.

To the Rightful Government of the Tagorian Mountains,
It has come to the attention of His Majesty's Government that, after the introduction of the Tagorian Mountains to the state of world affairs, your nation that stands against Socialism, is a useful if not predictable ally of the Questarian Imperial Federation and her Colonial Empire Abroad and Havenic. Therefore, while we welcome you into the world, we categorically remind you that the world is a dangerous place. Therefore, H.M. Govermnent, as entitled by the Anti-Communist International Assistance Act (1962), offers the following under Acia Program Tagoria to your nation's Air Force;
- Fifty-two (52) Hawker Cossack S.2 Aircraft (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13163642&postcount=2)
- Forty-two (42) Supermarine Shawsank FAW.2 Aircraft (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13587914&postcount=147)
- Fuel for four hundred and fifty (450) flight hours per plane
- Technicians and training pilots
To assist your budding nation in its defence against any potential aggressors, specifically those of a left-wing nature, and for an initiation of harmony and friendship between our Empire and your nation. If you accept this deal will be further reached to a conclusion by entering discussions with H.M. Government on the precise terms, but those are few and require no changes in your country at all.
God Save the King,
- Sir John Foster, First Secretary to the Foreign Secretary
- Sir Benjamin Russell, Prime Minister

Subject: Diplomatic Relations
Mr. Schindle,
It was a pleasure to read the letter which you had sent and it was pleasing in my mind to have written out this reply to the said letter; His Majesty has expressed a deep desire to significantly boost relations between our two nations with not only the exchanging of embassies and the creation of a free trade agreement but also a cultural exchange between Kampfers and Tagoria. We have plenty of cultural things that Kampfers may be interested in; perhaps your youth may want to indulged in imported Tagorian comics (OOC: Tagorian comics are a fusion of American comic books with Japanese manga - if such a combination is possible) such as DragonsBlade which is a cult classic among Tagorian youth and your gentlemen may wish to entertain themselves in the company of their fellow aristocrats in our realm. Our nation subscribes to the idea that economics must be made fair for all without turning it into a delusional Socialist pipedream - our brand of capitalism may not be fair but it works. Business is like love - it's all a game of risk, of trial, and of error. We are also, by statistical means, a Pagan majority nation but we have a small amount of Christians who are tolerated with the utmost respect. Our current monarch is a direct descendant of Tagor, our nation's ancient founder and namesake.
Miss Kressara Serane will be our nation's ambassador to Kampfers and shall represent the interests of any Tagorian citizens in your esteemed nation. She will be accompanied by guards armed only with assualt rifles, batons and tasers and shall be fully respectful of the customs and laws of Kampfers. His Majesty desires a meeting with the Fuhrer of Kampfers to be held whenever it is most suitable for the Fuhrer in the hopes that relations can be solidified. The King wishes to say that, should the Fuhrer ever wish to visit Tagoria, his wife and children (should he have any) would be able to accompany him if it was desired.
We desire nothing short of good relations with the nation of Kampfers for it is not our intention to get into the enemies' list of the world's many states. We, rather, desire to safeguard our nation from political stupidity as many others, such as Kampfers, constantly strive to do.
Signed,
Mylo Karan,
Foreign Minister

OOC: Tagorians are influenced somewhat by Japanese culture but they are not racially of Asian descent but rather have a sort of European look or, at least, are just light skinned people who live on a landmass that looks like Japan. Also, I do not know how you heard about the King's secret but blatant dislike of Communism but I'll roll with it.
First Secretary,
The Kingdom of Tagoria would not mind in the slightest becoming a close friend of the Questerian Commonwealth and is graciously thankful for the gift which you have sent us; the aircraft shall be put to good use in the Royal Air Force of our realm. If it is suitable for you or any other minister of government, a meeting between our nations' representatives may be held to discuss further relations. We hope that our nations can become nothing short of good friends in this world.

What a wonderful idea a cultural exchange is. I am sure that many of your citizens will enjoy the breathtaking scenic views of Kampfers, and would love to rest on our beautiful beaches. Kampferian beer will likely be quite a hit in Tagoria as well. It pleases me to no end to hear of the freedoms that Tagorians enjoy, especially those such as the freedom of religion and economic freedom. Too many nations in this world today limit their citizens rights far too much. Then again, it is not Kampfers' place to interfere in their national affairs. Such discussion should be saved for another time, however.
The Kampferian ambassador to Tagoria will be Thomas Steinwachs, a thirty-seven year old man from Kampfers Stadt. He will be accompanied by his family, an embassy staff of roughly 40 members, and a guard detachment of 10 Kampferian soldiers, if this is acceptable. We assume that the general sanctity of the embassy will be upheld, for example only Kampferian laws will apply on the grounds of the embassy, and we will extend the same benefits to the Tagorian embassy. While off embassy grounds, however, the ambassador and his staff will naturally follow all the laws and respect all the customs of Tagoria. The Führer is excited to meet with His Majesty, and anxiously awaits his arrival in Kampfers Stadt. He hopes that His Majesty will be able to meet with him some time during the coming week.

I am sure that we would be able to see significant success with the creation of a cultural exchange between our two nations. As for the freedoms to which all Tagorian men and women are equally entitled, we believe in the maxim of everything for the people but nothing by them. A monarchist government is not impaired so badly as democracies may claim that it cannot provide even the simplest form of freedom to its citizens. We are an absolute monarchy which believes in the full form of individual freedom.
The specifics of the embasy which you have mentioned in your letter are more than suitable in the opinion of our realm and we shall match them as the situation demands in our nation. Our intention is to make sure that we enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship between our two nations. His Majesty will be able to talk to the Fuhrer during his visit and he is curious as to knowing whether or not his family would be able to enjoy the sights of Kampfers while he is given to diplomatic talks with the Fuhrer of Kampfers. He assures the Fuhrer that his children will abide by the rules placed upon them and that full respect of customs shall be enforced.
