The Greater Chazaka Empire Falls(MT,Semi-Open,Semi-Intro)

Chazaka
21-12-2008, 20:33
The Greater Chazaka Empire that had ruled the Litherland Sub-Continent for centuries was breaking up. Nyx Darkrider had known and seen the signs for years now but he had been proven powerless to stop it.
"My president, The Chazakain region has just announced its independence from the Empire. The local magistrate has announced that he will rule the region as its king."
"How many is that now Apollo?"
"Third one this month my president."
"*sigh* did he give any reasons for his declaration of "independence"?"
"Yes, that Chazakain was chaffing under the GCEs "Communist" rule, he also sent this lovely telegram (http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/youarehttp://) to be hand delivered to you."
"Well what do we do Apollo? Our Empire is falling apart, we've already lost the Fiduses and Diuses, Chazada and now the Chazakain regions."
"We could ask for outside help help in keeping the Empire together and maybe getting those regions back?"
"You know as well as I that those regions were never going to stay permanently attached to the Empire. Its better for us to just recognize that and allow them to peacefully to go even if we don't always agree with their methods or ideals."
"But allowing them to go will..."
"Enough, I say that they will be allowed to go. You hear me Apollo?!"
"Yes my president."
"Good, you are dismissed I have other business to take care of."
"Yes, Nyx..."

Apollo left the meeting room. He pulled out his link.
"Get me the General."
"Hello, This is General Gonçalves, ah Apollo good to hear from you. How may I help you?"
"The president won't listen to reason Goncalves. It seems we will have to put our little plan into action."
"Are you sure Apollo? Its risky..."
"Yes I am, now stop stalling."
"Yes Sir"

3 hours later, Chazaka-Chazakain Border, 9:00 PM Dusk
The men had been briefed on their mission. They were to sneak into the Chazakain and remove several nuclear weapons stored in the forfeited bunker. They had been part of the former CGEs last ditch defense years ago and had yet to be disposed of. As the new "king" of Chazakain had never been very stable. The higher ups felt it was best to remove that temptation from him or at least that was what the men had been told. The actual facts behind that night would take years to clear up...
"Lock and load ladies."

Required occ: This is an intro to all the lovely puppets I've made over the past month(s) and since I've never made an intro for Chazaka it also serves that usage. For time keeping purposes this and all the other events unless other ways stated is taken to be roughly 5 years ago.

Chazakain, 20 km from Border,1 km above Bunker Alpha 121. 9:20 PM
This would be Rynz first mission with the Flying Gophers. He had been in the Chazaka Home Guard for 8 years now, but none of that could prepare him for this.
"Go, Go, Go"
Rynz ran out the back of the modified C-1 Cargo plane counting the seconds until he pulled the rip cord. When he would float to the ground. 1, 2, 3, 4...
Rynz pulled the cord and felt the familiar snap as the speed bleed off of him.
Several minutes later, he landed on Chazakain Soil. He quickly met up with the rest of his team and they proceed towards the bunker...

Chazakain, 22 km from the border 1:02 AM
Rynz breathed heavily coughing blood, they had been tricked. When they had reached the bunker they had found it deserted which while unusual hadn't seemed to phase the sergeant. They had proceeded down into the heart of the bunker... Rynz coughed again, noticing the blood for the first time. I've got to tell someone thought Rynz as he again painfully got up and started to run towards the direction he felt the border was. An observer at this time, may have noticed the gash across the private's back, his bloodshot eyes that were slowly turning yellow, his general crazed movement (un)fortunately no one was around to notice this. The private continued his push to what he thought was the border all the way trying to push aside the sights he had seen in that bunker...

Chaziton, Chazaka
The Phone continued to ring in the Apollo residence. Finally not being able to ignore it. Apollo left the phone. "Yes? This better be important. Its 2 Am"
"It is sir. We have lost contact with the Flying Gophers."
Apollo felt the sleep lift from his eyes "Really? Where and when?"
"About 2 hours ago, 20 kilometers within Chazakain."
"Now what where they doing there General?"
"Don't play games with me Apollo, those were good men"
"Of course, General. Has someone alerted the president yet?"
"No, we contacted you as orders dictate in these situations."
"Then someone should contact him, don't you think General?"
"Your a bastard I hope you know that Apollo."
Apollo, heard the click as the link went dead. "Yes, I know General but I do it for the good of the GCE" sighed Apollo as he went to change...

Presidential House, Chaziton, Chazaka 3 AM
"Mister President. We have lost contact with a squad of the Flying Gophers. While they were sent to retrieve nuclear weapons stored in the Chazakain region."
"Nuclear weapons? What nuclear weapons?"
"Why the ones to be used if the Greater Chazaka Empire was ever invaded and we had no other options."
Apollo strolled into the meeting room, "That will be enough General"
"Apollo explain yourself! The GCE has never had Nukes or any other WMDs"
"But of course we have Mr. President, its just never concerned you so we've let you believe in that pack of lies we feed the press. But now we have a greater problem, It seems that the Chazakains found their supply of WMDs rather quickly which could explain their rather poor choice of a parting gram but I digress Mr. President. We have lost contact of rather elite group in Chazakain while they were sent to retrieve those very WMDs that we don't have."
"But, But, But..."
"No Mr. President no buts and I am not joking, since its been what? 4 hours now since we last had contact from the Flying Gophers. We can only assume that they've been killed or captured by the Chazakains and that they know of the various WMDs stored throughout their country if they hadn't know of them before.
"What will you have me do than Apollo?"
"Why nothing Mr. President. Let me and the General here handle everything."
"O OK. You do that Apollo. I think I'll go back to sleep."
"You do that Mr. President. Don't worry we'll have everything under control by the end of the week."
"You'd better!"

Apollo sighed as he watched the back of Nyx as he exited the room. "You'd better increase the dosage in his coffee. He seemed to be nearly himself at the end there."
"Yes sir."
"Ok general whats our real situation?"
"Well as you well know that bunker doesn't hold any WMDs at least not in the traditional sense, and we have really lost contact with the Flying Gophers. Our satellites were able to tell that all of our men went into the bunker and that at least one went came out but besides that we have slim to no information."
"Well we'd better get some then heh General? I also want you to inform the King maybe his soldiers can deal with the problem before it grows" Said Apollo as he shuffled through the satellite images specially the one of the men leaving the bunker with a rather nasty gash across his back."

Chazakain, unknown distance from the border. wooded area 3:32 AM
Rynz took another deep breath, he was feeling much better. The (now healed) gash across his back even felt better. Infact this is the best I've ever felt in my life thought Rynz as he raced through the trees. He had lost track of time and distance ages ago but he had also lost the mind numbing fear that had first gripped him during his flight from the bunker and the horrors contained within. Rynz started to remember, the blood seeing his teammates being ripped apart by those things it could just make him HOOOOWLLLLLLL!...
Chazaka

Is now Open

2 Week Later
The Chazakain Army had not been up to the task. Many of its units were outright slaughtered by the things with others just getting wounded and turning on their former teammates within an hour much like Rynz had. The things had attacked towns on both sides of the border. Many of the Villagers had chosen to defend their town and were slaughtered out of hand by the things. Almost nothing seemed to stop the things expect for a few reports of silver(and silver looking) objects saving their owners from certain death (at least for a time). An unusual report was that a thing had been attacked by wolves and killed but besides these few anomalies the borders were awash in blood.
(Deaths: Civilians 5,000, turned: 400(at least) Military: Deaths 1,050, Turnings: 1,450(at least) )

So a call went out to the former GCE members, warning them of the danger and of the few weaknesses known. The ones farthest from the mayhem scoffed at the gullibility of Chazaka and Chazakain and did little else. So Apollo sent out the following message:

Dear Nations of the world. The Chazaka Empire and Chazakain Kingdom are being attacked by an unusual and deadly enemy. We know very little about this enemy or how it even came to be but the few things we know are attached to this message/email/telegram/etc. We plead for help or our nation will soon be over run in these things.

Attachments:
Known Weakness
Silver and Mercury seem to hurt them greatly.
We have reports of at least one of these things being attacked and killed by wolves
While they are seem to be greatly resistant to bullets a high powered shot to the head and heart seems to keep them down permanently.
Known Strengths
Very bullet resistant
1.25x strength of normal human solider
Better night vision and other senses than humans
Have claws that allow them to climb walls and the like.
Haven't lost all intelligence(still have a basic understanding of English language and can "talk" in short sentences, can open unlocked doors, but don't ask one to do higher level calculus:p )
Etc

The 11th Task Force, a subdivision of the 2nd Task Group, had been at sea for the past two weeks and now they had finally been issued their orders. The task force had been formed in a hurry as such was only made up of four naval craft with a Wasp class amphibious assault class ship leading the small group to their mission. There had been reports all over the net that some strange stuff was going on nearby the operating area of the 2nd Task Group which is why the task force was even formed anyway. They had order to escort a Marine unit to the area and deploy them. The Marines themselves would check out what was going on and report back. At least that is the plan.

For now the ships sailed away from their main force, slowly making their way towards Chazakain where the Marines would begin their mission.

"Well Mr. President Looks like Mu Cephei and Bulitaria have offered there services to our little problem."
"Thats good Apollo, make sure to tell them the current situation and..."
"Yes my president" said Apollo as he watched Nyx drift off to sleep again. Hmm the dosage may have gone alittle to high...

We will welcome any help you can provide and Chazakain can be reached from the east from the water though the border regions that are currently under attack may be hard to reach without at least one refueling.(The GCE is located where the rl South America. The Border village of Nirgwelr has a small airport but it has been evaced so you will have to land without any support. It is about 15 km away from the nearest report of the things.

Hopefully this helps both of you

Everyone in a 100 km radius of the border has been evaced or is dead/transformed so you'll have to do it with only your men available and no ground help but Chazaka airports are normally kept in tip top shape so up to you.

Apollo continued his survey of the infected areas, noticing the abounded villages, the fields that were full of wheat that wouldn't be harvested. even if this is contained we will feel the fallout throughout the coming years thought Apollo.

"Pilot, take us down."
"But sir!"
"calm down, the nearest sighting of the things was over 20 km from here."
"Ok, but I'm not staying more than 10 minutes..."

Two hundred kilometers west of the original infection site was a rather small town named Burdoza, it housed about fifty thousand people and was a hub for electronic companies to base themselves, in the trading district alone sixteen server housing units could be found. It was far enough out that it wasn't horded by refugee, atleast not yet, and this made it a perfect zone to land .11A Mechanized Special Reasons Company. Six C-5 landed in the remote town's airport, each carrying two modified BMP-1s, the next group was that of two C-130 Hercules which dropped off the ground soldiers of the squad.

Captain Frost quickly grouped his men up into their vehicles, which due to Bulitarian modifications was spacious enough for eight combat personnel, along with this was the control given to the gunner to man all the PKT machine guns at a single target, or to individual assign each gun to one, and have it follow the unit. This rapid response was due to a laser technology which was originally invited for the Bulitarian military by Klaus j. Planfuerd in 1992. Frost ordered his men to move to a large hill just North West of Burdoza, and quickly dig up a trench system. Meanwhile four men of the Command Platoon were sent to the city to try and enlist a few random men to come and help with cutting down the wooded area around the hill, and extend the firing range from the base of the hill to six hundred meters.

On Hill .01 the command platoon was setting up a their equipment to radio into their nation, and meanwhile first and second platoon were digging up a trench system, and the IFVs were patrolling around Hill .01, the trees extending fifty meters from all around the hill kept them from joining up with their comrades. The planned size of the base was to be about two thousand troops, along with about a hundred engineers to setup headquarters, bunkers and living quarters for the expected civilians to be housed. It was expected to take about a weeks time to get all the troops and supplies in-country, hopefully the infection would take a bit longer than that to get to Burdoza.

[OOC: No ground help? You mean no IFVs? I downgraded their primary armaments to 6-8 PKT machine guns.]

Remington Fox hadn't slept for 45 hours now, ever since those things had attacked her and her family at there cabin 20 kilometers within the Chazaka side of the border. Luckily like most families in the area, the cabin had a secured basement in case the Chazakains decided to raid/attack for some reason. It had been mostly used to store vegetables and various canned goods. But thats where Fox and two brothers and mother had been hiding. They were able to keep themselves in and the things out for several days but the things hadn't given up and had eventually found a way in. They had taken her father down and...
But she couldn't think of that now, as the only one left with any survival training she had taken over and led her family into this basement that at first had seemed like safety but had slowly turned into a tomb. She could still hear them clawing at the heavy iron basement door...

[OOC: Can I draw up a map of the town? And are helicopters too much support?]

The Command Platoon had set up the radio station quicker than expected and was already sending out a signal to start sending in the Engineer company, along with another hundred troops and ten more BMP-1s, plus two cement trucks and other various construction vehicles. These would also come in with C-5s and C-130s. The plan would be to set up a radio tower on Hill .01 and a landing strip to the East of Hill .01 once the infection had spread to the city, the airstrip inside the city would be useless.

The natives were quick to help the platoons cut down the treeline, it was expected to take another two days to completely erase all the trees around Hill .01. Hills .04, .02 and .05 were clear of all wooded area and the troops promised that soon they would be sending in weapons to give to the civilians, which would be positions on Hills .03, which needed deforestation, and Hill .05. Both of which were moderately large hills. Hill .06 also needed a bit of deforestation, though it was severely less grown out than both Hill .01 and Hill .03. Hill .06 would also be set-up as a back-up farming ground encase the supply drops ever stopped or were halted for an extended period of time.

Another sixteen men were sent down to the city and asked to get everyone to help in securing the city. This meant that they wanted them to demolish every building, which would ruin the city's future economy, but maintain their lives during this crisis, except the hospital, the airfield, government buildings with communication gear and hotels. The Bulitarian military knew that protecting the entire city was probably a lost cause, but if it was a success it would be a huge leap forward in defeating the infection.

"Yes, but this smells different. No fear."
"Ah those taste the best" growled Bandul
"Alert the pack we continue now"

9:40 PM
The attack was over before it had barely begun, the humans had been only lightly armed and were picked off quickly. The pack had gained a new member increasing its size to 20 members, and each had their fill of the 5 humans before them.

The pack then continued on its movements north towards the greatest smell of "meat" left in the area Burdoza, Chazaka. Joining and disjoining with other packs on the way.(each pack has roughly 15 members and there are 10 packs advancing towards Burdoza)

[OOC: Mind if we slow down the attack on the city till we finish (or get to 2 weeks) the defenses?]

Captain Frost was still in command of the entire operation, and in three days he had over three hundred troops under his command. .101A Engineer Company was busy working on the airstrip to the east of Hill .01. The trees around Hill .01 had been cleared, the trench systems were completely dug on Hills .01, .02 and .04. Claymores were being positioned threw out the base of every hill, but it was in the early stages and the gaps in between each were very wide. A road was going to be constructed between all of the Hills, including one to the city's airstrip. But these were simply planned and hadn't even been started yet. Frost ordered for another two engineering companies, along with a battalion. Due to his capabilities he was not promoted, but given permanent command over the Chazaka campaign against the infection. He also requested two thousand AK-47s along with several clips for the civilians. This was rejected, but one thousand AK-47s were allowed to be sent to the civilians, along with another thousand SKSs. We also requested sixteen Apaches, but only four were going to be sent for the entire campaign.

The airstrip was about six percent complete, and the deforestation was completely done, except for Hill .03 where there was still a lot of work to do. C4 was positioned on many of the outer buildings. It was expected that over eighty percent of the city would have to be destroyed, and only about two percent was completely. His troops would be at about a thousand by the fifth day, but he had a meeting to attend to with the leaders. "I want you to get anything you can, bull dozers, sledge hammers, whatever you can get to damage a wall and bring down a building. We'll be marking down what doesn't need to be destroyed. Apparently most of the structures that don't need to be knocked down are going to be in the trading district and government district. We are also getting a shipment of two thousand guns for your own defense. By the way, use the rubble from destroying the buildings as either obstacles, or to put up a defensive position. Hills .03 and .05 are to be yours, but those are going to be taken care of next week. We'll start training your militia next week also."

--- A week later --- (10 Days since landing [4 days to go])

The second airstrip was fifty percent complete. The roads connected Hills .01 and .02, and the claymore layout threw out all the Bulitarian hills was all encompassing, except for the roads which were done on purpose to allow for movement of supplies and reinforcements. The city was thirty percent cleared out, the guns were handed out to all the troops. Progress on Hills .03 and .05 were completely up to the civilians. Two thousand civilians (mostly women and children) were housed on Hill .01. There was about one thousand five hundred troops, along with a hundred fifty BMP-1, four Apaches and assorted construction equipment, which was housed on Hill .02. Five hundred men were positioned on Hill .01, four hundred on Hill .02, two hundred on Hill .04. Thirty BMP-1s were positioned on Hill .04, six on Hill .01 another six on Hill .02, and the remainder were to be put in the city, along with the remaining ground troops. Each position had a radio to keep them all connected. There was a sporadic layout of claymores on the outer layer of the city.

Captain Frost had worked out training practice, a company of militia at a time. The rest would work like dogs, progress was going at a moderate pace, but reports over the radio relayed that the infection was getting closer. Therefore he increased his night times patrols on each hill, and made the troops sleep in the trenches, though this was already a common practice, there wasn't much elsewhere for them to sleep. The Apaches had made a good home on the top of several large buildings and their crew was guarded by a squad, which also housed themselves in the same building. Working at night was already prohibited, but it had been common practice to do so to ease one's nerves, but this was ordered to stop, and those found guilty of the practice were locked up at night for three days. So far there had been no incidence about this practice.

---Two Days Later, Midnight---
The airport was sixty-six percent completely, the city was near forty percent, the road was half-way to Hill .04. The militia was just a bit better than a shitty mass of men and women with guns, but they would still need the Bulitarian troops for major support. However, unlike the first batch of troops sent to the country the rest were simple regulars, there was even a full company of reserves. Of course as far as the city folk knew the entire batch was a bunch of super-strong super-elite troops. This was more of a propaganda technique. Most of the people in the town were asleep, besides the troops and militiamen on patrol and look out, of course. But there was a group of three who were out clearing the rubble, they all had insomnia and found that working till they passed out helped lots... this could prove to be their downfall.

[OOC: How's Hills .03 and .05 doing? And what did the militia/town folk use the rubble for?]

occ erh, oops i really should read your posts twice.

IC
The townspeople hadn't been standing on their knuckles as the saying went. They had taken the sharpest parts of the rumble(mostly broken plumbing) from their freshly destroyed homes and stores increasing the point its until it was a nice sharp pike they then sunk them into the ground in front of the trenches built on Hills .03 and .05. (think the nice nasty spike pits the Vietcong/north Vietnamese made during the American-Vietnam War and you have the basic idea)

They had widen the wells that had been on the hills to accommodate the new populations and set up nightly patrols with each area being overlayed at least one point between per two patrols to help ease chances that a patrol would be taken out and the whole thing be shot to dust(another saying).

As George the librarian had pointed out some of the more noisymaking of the former town's stuff were quickly strummed up on wires leading around the front and side of the hill that would produce a heck of a rack if anyone or thing stepped/tripped on them helping cut down the ability of the things to come and go as they pleased without anyone being none the wiser.

Another idea put forth was also added to the defense throughout the area a number of pits were dug and filled with the suitable firewood from the freshly chopped down trees that could be lightened in case of an attack to help with seeing the things and hopefully drive them into the line of fire of the defenders. All dry vegetation up to 10 meters infront of the trenches was also cleared out to help with line of sight and to limit the spread of the fires.

The first thing to go up was the noisy making line on the first 2 days. After the labors had digged the pits and chopped the trees, the pits were filled and everyone bunkered down for the long haul. A few of the more superstitious had smuggled silver of various shapes onto their personal hoping that it would offer some form of protection.

Burdoza Defenses, Midnight, 30 days after outbreak
It was dark night in Chazaka as the storm clouds rolled in as it was a common sight this time of year little was thought of it. A slight rain had started early in the previous day and had continued into the next day and night. The men and women in the trenches tried to get some sleep while trying to remain dry as possible they knew that if they got to wet they were liable to catch all kinds of nasty things...

300 meters outside defenses
Rynz again called a stop to the pack, trying to shake the rain off. He gave out the battle orders and the things prepared to charge they gave little thought to strategy and tactics and just charged full forth at the various hills with Rynz pack leading the attack on Hill .05...

Claymores blasted as the infected ran head long into them, the few lucky ones that either ran from the road, or ran past the claymore fields were opened fire on by the patrols, which like the entirety of the Bulitarian military, had night vision goggles to assist them in shooting the attacking infection. The men all around the Bulitarian controlled hills quickly awoke and from their trenches put their night vision goggles on and began to open fire. Several of the BMP-1s were sent two meters down the slope of the hills and opened fire with their six machine guns, all capable of hitting a target at night. It was probable that this attack would be repulsed quickly, but now their position was known. And even though they could lay down an overwhelming amount of firepower and attack by thousands of the infected would be a massive challenge.

It was four minutes into the attack and Captain Frost was already hearing reports from both the citizen's hills. He quickly ordered six BMP-1s (from the city) to each hill, both carrying a full complement of some forty-eight troops. A single Apache was already gearing for lift off towards Hills .01. Apache B would be sent to clear out Hill .06 and Hill .03, while Apache C would be sent to help with Hill .02, and Apache D would be charged with Hill .05 and .04. It would be everyone's first experience with the infection, but the Bulitarians had been briefed on the enemy before their landings. It was the militiamen they had to worry about.

The Men on Hill .05 were the first to be awaken with the loud sounds caused by the various cans and such rocking on the wires as the things ran into the first line. The sentries took pot shots at the approaching things as they retreated to the higher ground of the hills. The men and women of Burdoza awoke and started to shot making sure to aim for the heart/head of the approaching things remembering the Chazaka Government broadcasts of the previous weeks. The better shots of the militia were able to successfully hit the things while others that knew their ammo would be wasted at these ranges, tried to light the second line of defenses unfortunately the rains of the previous day and night had soaked the wood and many of the pits remaining unlit.

Vector aimed another shot at an approaching thing, taking him down right before it had reached the second line of defenses. "Why aren't those fires lit?"
"The wood is soaked."
"Why didn't anyone think of covering it?"
"I don't know!" screamed the private as the things ripped into him.
"Private? Private answer me!" yelled Vector into his radio..

Things were not looking good on hill .05 the second line of defenses had been breached with only 5 things falling under fire and/or into a spike trap.

Meanwhile the Men on Hill .03 could hear the things and the sound of battle on the surrounding hill tops but couldn't see a thing in the darkest as their pits were also unlit due to moisture.

The Alpha Male(a former scientist) that led the Pack that was to attack .03 was smarter than the other Alpha males so he had held back seeing how the "meats" would defend their dens. He had watched the pack attacking .01 hill destroyed by the meat's flying beasts and was not pleased not pleased at all.
He growled "fall back, Pox stay here and gather any intel you can. Once this "battle" is over find us back at the clearing. We must discuss this with the remaining packs. I want any weaknesses you can find in their defenses and flying beasts. If anyother packs survive this direct them to the clearing too."...

last post for the night, I need sleep.

Apache D opened up a wall of fire with its main Gatling gun, followed by hellfire missiles that lite up the ground for a moment. Luckily the flashes from the exploding missiles could be used to see the enemy for a split second. Apache B opened fire on the retreating infected, but only for a short period of time, deeming it unnecessary. The single scout had been missed because the pilot was aiming at the larger group and thus allowed him to live.

The BMP-1s arrived at both Hills, but at Hill .05 they were actually needed. The forty-eight men dismounted from their vehicles, along with support from their BMPs and the Apache over head they used their night vision goggles to help them push forward, ordering the militiamen to maintain a wall of lead and keep in a single formation, always firing forward and firing wherever they even think they hear a noise from one of the infected. Two patrol men had been killed during the battle at Hill .01, and three were also killed in the ongoing fighting at Hill .05.

Burdoza Defenses, 12:32 AM Hill .05
Rynz took a chunk out of a militiaman's leg, throwing him towards a pit. He howled a signal to see how many of his pack where still alive. There were five quick howls pack. Rynz was startled the meat had fought with greater ferociously than any other group before had. He then howled a general retreat.

Clearing outside of Burdoza(2 km) 1:04 AM
Rynz walked into the clearing, holding an useless arm. A lucky marksman had shot him while he was howling for the general retreat it had healed soon enough but it had just hanged there. Rynz knew his days as an Alpha Male was numbered but he still went to the meeting.

Later
A total of 3 packs(45 things) had survived the battle with the meat.
The .03 Alpha walked up to Rynz. "We need a plan, the meats fought back much better than they have ever before."
"Yes, they were well prepared." agreed Rynz
"We must find a way to defeat their flying beasts."
"Yes, we do. Do you have a plan?"...

Burdoza Defenses, 12:42 AM Hill .05
Vector watched as the last thing cleared the 1st defensive line. A partically evil looking thing had sounded the retreat just moments before.
"Let them go. We need to treat the wounded and dead as best we can. I want all the bodies of the things thrown into a fire pit and burned"
"Yes sir" was the reply from the young private.

The battle had claimed 70 of the militia that night with an additional 100 needing some form of medical treatment. Some had just cuts and burns while some had been bitten by the things and would need emergency treatment if they were to survive.

"I also want a word with the foreigners commander as soon as possible!"

A week previously, Chazaka-Chazakain Border
Apollo exited the helicopter as the engines died down.
"Remember 10 minutes Sir!'
"Yes I know."
"Now come here Nyx. Look at these tracks, notice anything odd about them?"
"They look like heavily deformed barefoot human tracks."
"Good, now what do you think made them?"
"What the locals are calling things?"
"Yes, now these tracks look fresh made no more than an hour ago."
"Erh maybe I should go back to the copter?"
"Yes, you do that Mr. President." Replied Apollo as he noticed something sparkle in a print a few meters away...

Still seeking interested parties to help dealing with Thing problem was the ad printed in many regional papers the next day.(specially in Chazakain side of things)

Chazakain, 3 weeks since original incident
Things had not been going well in Chazakain not well at all. The Things had spread into many numerous villages, since it was generally poorer than its Neighbor. Many of the villages had fallen before the King had even been aware of the problem since he had disconnected all commutations with the Chazaka the weeks before. When he had finally learned of the problem he had sent several regiments of his troops to take care of the problem. Not knowing the danger they faced they had set up only minimal night patrols and were quickly overrunned with many outright killed and others being wounded and turning on their former comrades within minutes(the "infection" was growing in strength). In the end, the thing forces increased several magnitudes as the Chazakain uniformed forces were quickly overwhelmed. Infact several of the larger cities near the border where overwhelmed by the things But eventually King Ares wised up and started to contact the outside world for help but it may already be too late for Chazakain and the GCE...(Chazakain forces: killed: 3,000. turned: 4,000. Civilians: 7,000 killed, unknown amount turned)
