Interstellar corporate scandal erupts
Allegations of intellectual property theft run rampant
Major news networks found a new source of scandal today as New Berlin Multivector Services, a conglomerate and several-times-over industry leader, filed proceedings against Raython Corporation, a major arms provider operating from within the Terran Federation, on several legal rationales - including, controversially, intellectual property theft.
New Berlin alleges Raython personnel are selling New Berlin designs, among others, to the Federal government without proper credit, and are gaining 'ridiculous' profit levels from these operations; alleged-stolen New Berlin designs include the award-winning Steadfast-class armed heavy merchantman and the SB1M-class gunboat.
NB is also alleging that Raython did not properly give notice of its intention to terminate, or notify the appropriate officers of its termination of, its arms-provision services; as such, NB Legal argues that a great deal of the non-NB designs currently in Raython production are properly the property of the Raython-Veltar Arms Consortium. NB is also making the case that, under the Charter of Raython-Veltar Arms, NB, as the current majority shareholder, is entitled to a percentage of Raython-Veltar profits from NB and other designs equal to that percentage of shares which NB owns in the Raython-Veltar consortium; this is more of an advantage for NB than it might normally be, considering that NB assumed ownership of shares previously owned by Maximilian Raython, CEO of the allegedly improperly-disaffiliated self-named Corporation, and Jeanette Veltar, Consortium chief executive officer, now deceased, upon their respective departures.
