The Eternal Swarm

"Welcome back to the Korprulu News network, The Eternal Swarm, societies Nemisis, disappeared!"
"Everyone's afraid of The Swarm, Children are doing their part to defend civilization by squashing bugs in the schoolyard."
"Responsible for the extermination of two civiliations, The self-styled Eternal Swarm has gone missing!"
"Agents from The Inter-Galactic Science Consortium report sightings of the entirety of the swarm uplifting into The Warp and disappearing!"
The news was almost too good to believe, The Eternal Swarm, a force that looked to be a cancerous growth on the universe, had gone missing, without a fight, or a struggle. It seemed society was safe for life throughout the universe once more, with only the classic agents of strife to contend with.
After annihilating two societies, the swarm had gone quiet, almost disturbingly so, for a complete hibernation had come over the swarm, it seemed to be waiting, for something.
Then, without any warning, one day months later, the swarm simply vanished, pulling up the hives, loading into Overlords, and disappearing into the Warp.
But that bastion of quality, that pillar of absolute honesty, The Galactic News Network, they were the first to burst everyone's happy bubble.
"Welcome to The Galactic News Network. I am Annie Lyre, and our leading story, The Eternal Swarm. Where did they go? The Inter-Galactic Science Consortium has the answer, as we play for you, their last broadcast from Andromeda."
"This is Doctor Yamato Nasagori, Lead.......on The.........Swarm.
Don't know.....The Swarm left to Andromeda......Two Eternal Swarms, The Zerg Broods, and the Tyranid Broods,....Overmind is one entity......Shadow in The Warp.....Communications.....Disrupted.....Swarms......merging.....for the love of all things good and holy, STAY AWAY IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE!" The feed cuts out.
"Interesting. We'll break down this message for you later, stay tuned for details."

"Harken my children, and attend to my words. It was for the Glories of Chaos that we have been created, and it is to the glories of Chaos we have continued to exist. Let there be war and strife between the innumerable broods of the Zerg swarms and the Tyranid Swarms, to determine for all time, which of you shall continue to exist to please the gods of Chaos. For the researchers that have patiently watched from afar, we advise you well to stay out of our way, least we destroy you too." The Overmind's voice was more powerful than it had ever been before.
The Zerg swarms, fresh from Andromeda, had transplanted their hives in a few worlds outside of The Omega sector, for it was in Omega that the Tyranids dwelled, comprised of three fearsome Hive fleets known as Behemoth, Kraken, and Leviathan.
From the Tyranid fleet emanated an FTLi known as The Shadow in The Warp, a powerful Psionic pulse that completely disabled The Warp for those that used it. It also had a tendency to disrupt or completely block Long range communications.
The tyranid fleets at this very moment were heading towards the Hive clusters of the Zerg Swarms. The Devourers fired the first shot a salvo of Warp Energy hitting an empty space hulk, and so began one of the greatest battles in the history of either Swarm, a battle that would forever be remembered afterward, and recorded by the consortium as Annihilation.
OOC:*Cue your favorite battle theme song here*
Thread open for official reactions. I'm not saying you can't go to Omega, but I'm also not saying you should. Outside interference will cause the swarms to unite faster than normal and attack outsiders. This takes place about five months after the love conquers all thread. If you use The Warp, your engines will be disabled upon nearing The Omega and Theta Sectors of Andromeda. (Which is where all this is going on)

"Welcome back to the Galactic Network News. On our top story today, The war in Andromeda! IGSC reports that a species of swarm they name Devourer has been completely wiped out, though more are on their way. The Tyranid fleet has begun bombardment of the Zerg world with their Myscetic Spores."
_________________________________________________________________
The Devourers had moved into the Tyranid fleet, shooting at their massive hive ships. Gaunts and Lictors struck back first, along with swarms of Gargoyles. The Tyranids had evolved along different lines than Zerg, and their symbiotic Weaponry devastated the Devourers and their shields. Even as the Devourers exploded, the massive hive ships settled into orbit around the worlds occupied by the zerg, and launched giant Mysetic spores, organic dropships into the worlds below, containing all the different breeds of the Tyranids.
The Zerg had the advantage here, for they were already established on the worlds below, and zerglings rushed them, their numbers in the hundreds of thousands, but the Gaunts and Gargoyles fought back, establishing a foothold on the world, but at the sacrifice of many Broodlords and a Hive Tyrant.
The Zerg weren't completely victorious either, for many of them had been impregnated with the Broodlord genes.
It was time for the real war to start.
The Eternal Swarm
20-12-2008, 14:17
The day started off quiet, the zerg broods strengthening it's defenses. The Tyranid Hive was quiet, and still. Then without warning a swarm of fifty Screamer-Killer Carnifexes erupted from Myscetic Spores and descended upon the Zerg.
The Zerg were quick to respond, with Sunken Colonies attacking the Tyranid swarm through the Underground. But the attacks just glanced off the Carnifexes's Thick Carapace, even as their massive claws and symbiotic weaponry went to work on the fortified Hive positions.
swarms of Zerg unburied themselves from the ground and rushed the Carnifexes, but the things were like massive tanks. The Zerg responded with the Ultralisks, their own organic tanks, lumbering out of nearby gigantic cavern like organs in the creep.
While the three were occupied with each other, Raveners crept out of the Tyranid spores, and darted down to the creep, and burrowed directly into the hive itself.
The Hydralisks were stationed below, and they immediately launched an attiack with their spines, an evolution of the tiny hairs on their back, launched at incredible speeds thanks to their incredible muscle structure. (4,000 compared to the normal human 629)
The Raveners seemed defeated, but they shot back, carrying Symbiotic weaponry in their Thoraxes, and with the twisting layout of the hive, it seemed niether side would have an advantage.
Above ground, the Mutalisks shot out of the hive, and began assaulting the ground troops, but they too were met by Gargoyles who came from the massive Tyranid Hive.
Meanwhile, swarms of Rippers emerged from the Hive and began eating up all the Biomass they could get at, including the Zerg Hive. Drones came over and combated them with their mandibles. A small group of drones snuck over to the hive and infested it with the Zerg DNA to produce infested crossbreeds and establish some control over the hive, just as the Tyranids had done to them.
It seemed Zerg and Tyranid were at a deadlock, but then neither side had attacked with their fullest abilities yet.
Deep within the Hive, Irene stood up, the Swarmling Guardians joined her, before them stood the wriggling masses that were the zealots.
"For the Glory of Chaos." Was all she said as she threw open the jaw like doors and climbed to the upper floors to join the battle. The Guardians followed, and behind them came the swarms of Zealots.
Dangaloth and Zasz, being brains stuck in the floor, were unable to do much more than sit there and wish Irene luck.
The Overmind watched it's two swarms. It didn't expect either side to win...
The Eternal Swarm
20-12-2008, 14:46
The Zealots swarmed around Irene and the Guardians, moving throughout the Hive. Due to a massive Shadow in The Warp, caused by the Tyranid Hive fleets, they were unable to channel alot of Warp energy, but they could channel enough, if two or three worrked together on a single Swarmling.
So it was that 25% of the Zerglings evolved into the more powerful Khornate Swarmlings, and the Hydralisks began to shoot weaponized Warp Energy.
As for the Guardians and Irene, they walked through the Enemy swarms like a curse, laying about them as though they were walking death.
However, The Hive Tyrants emerged from more Mysectic Spores, , followed closely by their Tyrant Guards.
The two Guardians let out a roar of challenge, and descended upon the Hive Tyrants and their Guards. One Tyrant and his Guards broke away, heading for a still heavily wooded area at the base of a large hill overlooking the battle. Irene smiled, as she saw figured out the Tyrant's plan.
"Come then mouse, and play with the kitty."
Irene took off after the Hive Tyrant.
As the Carnifexes and zerg and Khornates all entertained each other, and Zoanthropes battled the Cerebrates and their powers, the two Guardians met the Guards claws first.
The Tyrants weren't about to let the Guards fight alone, the fearsome Tyranids desired blood all their own, but before they could interfere, a swarm of Zealots got in their way, and the tyrants slaughtered the defenseless snakes easily.
as the snakes died, ambient Warp energy spilled from their bodies, weakening the empowered zerg. the Tyrants weren't stupid, despite certain opinions from varius scientific bodies. Infact, Tyrants may have been the smartest of all Tyranids. Noticing the weakness in their directed enemy, the Tyrants directed their swarms to attack and slaughter the Zealots, which the swarms did so, with efficiency, and without mercy.
In the forest, the Tyrant waited for Irene.
"Why do you think we are fighting?" it asked via direct telepathy.
"To see who is stronger. So it was directed by the Overmind." Irene said, hunting for it's physical presence.
"Yes, but your overmind is our Overmind, their one in the same entity, why not just command us to evolve into one mega brood, why the fighting, why the struggle?" The Tyrant asked, hiding in a dense cluster of trees and bushes. A couple of it's Guards circled around behind Irene to attack.
"I don't know, to encourage new evolutions?" Irene asked, using her bladed wings to slice one's head off, and her mind to trick the other into attack it's own tyrant.
"We are the great devourer of worlds. In our wake lay millions of dead and now barren worlds. We need no new evolutions, for who can truely stop us?" the tyrant asked, rending the Guard into pieces with it's claws.
The last Guard stood between Irene and the Tyrant.
"No one can, now. But if we never change, then we can never combat their advancements, and eventually will become naught but a memory. I think, I think the overmind needs us to fight, to weed out each other's weakness, and bolster each others strengths. Besides, I could never work with you, without finding out if I was stronger or not. Could you truly say the same about yourself? What about our broods, could any of them say the same?" Irene asked.
The Tyrant shot it's own Guard in the back, and killed it.
"True enough, well then, come, let us duel each other privately atop the hill." the Tyrant said, spreading it's wings and taking flight to the hill top. Irene caused her blades to become soft and dull, she had her wing formations curl around each other, all three tubes on the left curling round each other in a tight spiral, same with the ones on the right. A membrant emerged from the tubes, filling in the gaps as she spead her complete wings wide, and took flight after the Tyrant.
The Eternal Swarm
26-12-2008, 06:35
As the Tyrant and Irene flew for the hilltop, several battles happened at once.
A large swarm of Gargoyles teased a large swarm of Mutalisks into giving chase, away from the hive.
With a screech, they flew off, chasing the hooting and hollering Gargoyles.
A red Mutalisk red the pack, chasing a purple Gargoyle. The Gargoyles and Mutalisks all broke apart into several thousand different directions. The red Mutalisk chased the Gargoyle into a great canyon, filled with rocky spires, natural archways, and overpasses.
Through these the Gargoyle skillfully manuvered with a grace unparalleled by anything the zerg could offer. But the Mutalisk wasn't to be thrown off so easily.
It started attacking, it's worms bouncing off rocky spires and exploding.
The Gargoyle went through an archway and suddenly looped over it to come up behind the Mutalisk.
The Mutalisk felt it was in trouble now, for now it was the chased.
The Eternal Swarm
26-12-2008, 06:56
The Mutalisk was being chased, and it flew with all the speed it's wings could muster.
Far and away, the Cerebrates, who were being pestered by the Zoanthropes in an entirely different, yet equally epic battle, tried to send it the command to evolve, but the Zoanthropes messed up the command, telling the Mutalisk to evolve both the Sentinal and Guardian aspect at the same time.
The Mutalisk took a few sharp turns, temporarily loosing the Tyranid Gargoyle, and followed the recived command.
The infections of the Tyranid fleet had spred through the Zerg overmind, causing the DNA to be altered further.
Several minutes passed, as a hyper accelerated evolution took place, and from the Mutalisk egg emerged a new creature, that was far more terrifying than even the the Gargoyle. It looked vaguely human, and had sturdy fins on it's legs by it's feet. It's primary wings had a strange design in them, which were really a carefully arranged set of scales that pushed not air, but energy through it, for being from both the Tyranid and Zerg swarms, it was immune to the Shadow in The Warp, and could channel it's own Warp energy. It was a new generation of swarmling though, and had a strong enough mind to use basic forms of other energies as well.
This it did with gusto, using the ambient energies of the Quantum field to levitate itself, and hurl itself forward at mach speed looking for the Gargoyle.
It found the Gargoyle looking for it, and the Gargoyle let out a screech of surprise, as the Hyperlisk flew right through it, without even stopping.
The Hyperlisk flew off into the two opposing swarms of Mutalisks and Gargoyles. It had it's own symbiotic weapon, a blaster. And this it used with an efficiency most human experts would be proud to call their own, attacking both sides with an unequaled ferocity.
The Eternal Swarm
26-12-2008, 08:27
The Hyperlisk had attacked both sides, and as Gargoyles and Mutalisks wheeled about, both realized this new thing was after them both.Gargoyles and Mutalisks both attacked with everything they had, but the Jet was highly skilled at Maneuvering, and zigged through one volley of shots, only to zag through another.
The Hyperlisk shot every which way with it's blaster, a large cannon like gun that shot energy on the scale of a TIE fighter, or X-wing. It cleared large swaths of opponents with shots from it's cannon blaster.
Mutalisks and Gargoyles alike tried to shoot it, but they all shot at it from the front, and from behind, it was simply too fast for the shots to catch up.
It seemed impossible to beat, until a force of thirty Gargoyles and thirty Mutalisks joined forces, the Gargoyles weilding the Mutalisks like a weapon, making the Mutalisks shoot a weapon that was a combination of the Mutalisk's own natural weapons, and the Tyranid Symbiotic weaponry.
The thirty Gargoyles chased the Hyperlisk down, their shots beginning to nick the edges of it's Carapace. It shot back at them with it's own Cannon blaster, but the Gargoyles had figured out when to properly dodge it's shots, and so were unscathed by it's attacks. The Gargoyles sped up, pushing themselves to their utter limits, the Mutalisks putting out an equal amount of effort.
The Hyperlisk met it's death on all sides, as it took the wrong turn and got caught in a crossfire set up when the thirty Mutalisk wielding Gargoyles split up and went two different directions.
It exploded with a powerful blast that drove the remaining fliers to the ground, tearing their wings apart.
The Cerebrates and Zoanthropes, just at the end of their own battle, had caused both sides to think they recieved an order to evolve, and with the DNA of each opposing swarm creeping through the sub-ordinate Overminds of each opposing swarm, the results were as the first Mutalisk, each and every one of them loyal to the primary Overmind that ruled both swarms, as they took the form of the Hyperlisk.
The new Hyperlisks fanned out, but many battles had occured at the same time, and there wasn't an enemy left insight...
The Eternal Swarm
26-12-2008, 08:43
While The Tyrant and Irene were winging their way to their battle, the ground troops in and on the hive were engaged in a massive fight.
The Ultralisks, Queens, Defilers, Zerglings, and Lurkers where all fighting to save the lives of the defenceless, and offenseless Zealots.
But they had quite the battle, taking on Lictors, Gaunts, raveners and Biovores.
The Queens were taken out quickly though, as the Gaunts shot them down.
The Zealots tried to empower the Zerglings to Khornate status, but that required they stay still, and try though they might, they kept getting shot down.
A herd of Ultralisks, large beasts bigger than Elephants rampaged accross the hive towards the enemies, followed by a massive rush of Zerglings. Swarms of Lurkers circled the battle field and buried themselves in the ground, even as Defilers went about trying to sneak up on enemies to eat them.
The rush of Zerglings hit the swarms of Gaunts head on, forcing the Gaunts into claw to claw combat, and there was too much biting and clawing for even a camera to accurately follow.
Meanwhile, the Ultralisk herds were met by a surprise ambush by the Lictors who had turned themselves invisible and unseen, even as the Raveners dug down into the ground after the Lurkers.
The Eternal Swarm
26-12-2008, 09:21
The Ultralisks were built like tanks, which is what they were, organic tanks. Once the lictors were in the open, the Ultralisks turned on them and started goring them with their tusks, and killing many a Lictor. But the Lictors weren't to be easily beaten, and fought back.
The Lurkers channeled their spikes through the ground, piercing many a Ravener, but many a Ravener also bit their spikes off, leaving defenseless Lurkers in the ground.
Meanwhile, large numbers of Biovores were raining their Mysetic spores down upon the Zealots, and succeeded in killing the entire species, but a second rush of Zerglings got revenge, as they rushed over the distracted biovores on their way to the Gaunts.
The Zerglings and Gaunts continued their their combat as new rushes of Gaunts and Zerglings joined in. Many gaunts trying disengaging to shoot back, but the zerg were oppressive in large numbers, and it seemed to the gaunts that that they were on a loosing streak. They needed to quickly evolve some faster reflexes to beat the swarm, and tried to do so, but the DNA of the Zerg hive was creeping through the Tyranid hive, even as the Tyranid was creeping through the Zerg. The Zerg themselves felt confident.
Four Gaunts in particular, Hypergaunts, were the first to evolve. the two opposing genetic strains caused them to Mutate in a new manner, as Chaos flowed through their system.
The things that emerged was as alien as the Hyperlisk, and they were known as The children of Chaos, for they had the channeling abilities of a Zealot, but only for itself.
One had four arms, and bulging muscles under a thick metallic Carapace. It's claws glimmered with energy, for it could use many energies besides Chaos like the Hyperlisks could. It seemed built for up close assault, as it waded in amongst it's enemies, their attacks bouncing off it's Carapace like they weren't even there. It swung it's claws and sheered through a rock, a tree, and an Ultralisk like they were all composed of wet paper. It was one branch of new swarmling called The Sons of Khorne.
One was bloated and worm like. Open festering wounds dotted it's skin, even as it labored for breath. Sickness spread among the nearby Gaunts and Zerg, killing many on the spot. Were it crawled, life could not continue, and even the Biomass became unfit for Swarmling consumption. It was of The Sons of Nurgle, and with every breath they exhaled a foul contagion that polluted the surrounding environs.
One had many faces, and seemed to always be speaking, saying many things.
It's weapon appeared to always be shifting, and to it came the power of many powers, the greatest degree of adaptability, for even it's form seemed to be constantly shifting, making one wonder just what it was. It aimed it's weapon at a Carnifex which was taking on an Ultralisk, and called upon the powers of Thermonuclear Energy, and the ensuing shot made both explode with tremendous force. The sons of Tzeentch could not be taken lightly.
Finally, the last one was possessed of a beauty no mere woman or man could match, for it was the child of Slaneesh, whose beauty none could match. It's Pheromones filled the air, drawing crowds of Guants and Zerglings to it, which it then peppered with small Mysetic spores which enhanced the Nervous system of it's many targets, making them linger in pain unimaginable. It took it's time about killing it's victims, borrowing just a little of it's brother's power from Nurgle to let them die a slow painful death from poison.
The Children of Chaos were not mere pushovers like the others around them were. Both swarms knew they were up against insurmountable odds against even one child of Chaos, let alone all four.
The Eternal Swarm
26-12-2008, 09:49
The Children of Chaos were new, yet were more powerful than Either swarm alone. The Tyranid and Zerg swarms clustered around each other, for mutual cooperation and safety.
The son of Tzeentch aimed his gun, and summoning the powers of the Quantum field, channeled a small blast into it, which was lobbed over into the crowd to break them all up.
Meanwhile the son of Khorne, filled with an insatiable bloodlust charged head first into the swarm his claws swinging before him like deadly scythes.
The son of Nurgle merely wheezed and puffed, and crawled it's way, at a speed faster than one would imagine for a fat perpetually dying worm, into the crowds, where it swung it's claws, dripping with pus and other kinds of filth, into it's enemies, even as it continued to spew disease into the air.
The son of Slaanesh leaped nimbly into the fray with her long slender legs, letting his pheromones fill the air. She shot his spores all about her, and drank in the suffering of his enemies. She caressed the skin of his enemies, almost tenderly, lovingly, and each touch seemingly enhanced her enemies pain and suffering. Finally, when he had enough, she would end their lives.
But the swarms weren't to be so easily beaten, for everyone replaced, ten more replaced it from both sides, which suited the son of Khorne just fine, who couldn't get enough enemies to sate his bloodlust.
It was a Gaunt who got in a lucky shot and severely injured the son of Tzeentch, but the ever-shifting creature continued to shift, and over the course of it's shifting, it's wounds healed much faster than normal.
Forty Zerglings were clawing and scratching at the son of Nurgle, but the sons of Nurgle, like their daemonic counterparts, clung to every last scrap of life and were next to impossible to kill. Slowly, the zerglings dropped, both from exhaustion, and from sickness, and all forty curled up and died. the son of Nurgle merely regenerated itself, and continued on.
A Lictor thought to surprise the son of Khorne, going invisible and sneaking up on it, but the son of Khorne simply reached out while the thing was still invisible, and choked it to death, then finished by ripping it's head off it's body, removing the skull, and offering it up as a sacrifice to Khorne for his throne. It's headless body slumped to the floor, turning visible in the process.
It seemed the swarms were beaten, until the Hives themselves mutated defences, and started attacking. It took one hundred sunken colonies to take down the son of Khorne, but eventually the tough bastard fell, and exploded with violent force, killing everything around it.
The Gaunts, free to focus on the son of Nurgle now, shot the ground around it with Acid, which the Zerg hive evolved a Carapace to protect itself from. The son of Nurgle dissolved away in acid, releasing a deadly airborn toxin in the process.
Next child of Slaanesh, which was overtaken in a combined rush of Zerglings and Hyperguants. But the child of slaanesh didn't go down easily, it took the rush down with it.
This left the son of Tzeentch. The remaining ground forces rushed the son of Tzeentch, even as he blinked about the battlefield playing a game of keep away. He was building up his own energies, a strange smile playing on his many faces.
Finally he stopped blinking, glowing dangerously, and let himself be killed in a volley of shots from the Gaunts. His energy build shot outward like a massive Nuclear bomb, uneffective towards the already evolved Hyperlisks, but effecting all remaining unevolved swamrlings from the Tyranid and Zerg hives.
It took down the Shadow in the Warp as well.
The Eternal Swarm

While the other three fights were going on, and Irene and the Tyrant were winging their way towards the hilltop, a force of Zoanthropes took the two cerebrates, Dangaloth and Zasz to the battlefield of the mind.
Dangaloth and Zasz drifted about the psionic battlefield as they knew themselves to truely be, large brains. the Zoanthropes took many forms, well skilled in the use of their minds as weapons.
But the Zoanthropes and the Cerebrates were also busy maintaining the Hive mind as well.
Dangaloth and Zasz knew that all that they saw were tricks by the Zoanthropes.
They formed large numbers of Psionic needles and shot them every which way.
A large spider looking thing clacked it's scorpion tail on the non-existent ground and reversed the Needles back on the Cerebrates.
The cerebrates twisted the needles into balls of fire, which curved around the two brains back on the Zoanthropes.
The Zoanthropes, who realized these were serious opponets, dropped the illusions, and appeared as they were, large brains like the Cerebrates, but with withered tiny bodies.
The Zoanthropes took control of the fireballs, and chilled them until they turned to solid Ice, then they doubled them and sent the entire attack back at the Cerebrates.
The Cerebrates compressed the entire swarm of balls into on giant snowball, and rolled it back, transmuting it into a ball of explosive force.
The Zoanthropes let the ball of force explode, but turned the explosion itself into the battlefield, making it as the surface of a star. They then shot a solar flare at the Cerebrates.
The cerebrates changed the battlefield to that of a moon, and turned the solar flare into Lightning, and sent it forking back at the Zoanthropes.
The battlefield began to break up, as both sides began to be depleted of their mental energies, but neither knew when to back down.
The Zoanthropes stopped the Lightning entirely, turning it into a massive spike of solid Granite, balling it up, and shooting it back at the Cerebrates to explode.
The cerebrates stopped it, and with their last gasp of mental energy, reversed it back on the Zoanthropes, sending the commands to evolve out to their swarms at the same time.
The Zoathropes chose to interfere with the evolution commands, and succeeded in doing so, but got hit with the attack.
Deep within the hives, both the Cerebrates and the Zoanthropes were found dead, depleted of all their energies.
The Eternal Swarm

The two Guardians picked themselves up to their full height, knowing this was going to be one of their hardest battles. Away from most of the fighting, they were free to face down two Carnifexes, and two Hive Tyrants, plus their collection of Tyrant Guards.
The Guardians smashed their claws into the Guards, and the Guards shrugged it off, and attacked with their own. The Guardians fired Warp energy at the Guards, and the Guards didn't seem terribly phased by that.
The Guardians shrugged, and went claw to claw with the small brood of Guards, protecting the hidden Tyrants and Carnifexes.
But Tyrant Guards are very hardy creatures, and very difficult to kill.
The Carnifexes gave out a scream and leaped out of their hiding place, surprising the Guardians.
The Guardians however, were blessed with regeneration, and began to regenerate their wounds closed. They turned on the Carnifexes, ignoring the Guards.
The Carnifexes clawed their right sides, and the Guardians winced, hugging their right sides. They attacked with their left claws, shooting acid at the Carnifexes.
The Carnifexes screamed again, and clawed at the face of the Guardians. The Guardians took flight, and hovered just out of clawing range, raining blasts of energy down on the Carnifexes as they regenerated. The Carnifexes weren't to be beaten so easily though, and leaped up after the Guardians, and dragged them down to the ground. The Guardians grabbed for their legs and broke them, leaving the Carnifexes screaming on the ground.
With a roar that shook the trees, the Tyrants came storming out of their hiding places.
The Eternal Swarm
26-12-2008, 10:58
As the Carnifexes lay dying on the ground, the Tyrants stormed out into battle, knocking their own guards out of the way.
This is what the Guardians had been waiting for.
The Tyrants chose not to use their weaponry, wanting instead to defeat the Guardians with their claws.
The Guardians would've smiled, had they the muscles to do so, and they rushed the Tyrants with their own claws.
The tyrants fought back with their claws, and used their sharp tails as lashed and hit the Guardians with them. The Guardians bit their tails and tried to break their claws, but the Tyrants were strong, incredibly strong.
The Guardians ripped into the flesh of the Tyrants, and the Tyrants aimed the spray of their blood at the Guardians, letting their acidic blood eat at the Guardians flesh.
The Guardians spat their own acid back, and it began to hiss and sizzle as it at at the Tyrants from the inside out.
The Tyrants leapt back, and began shooting with their weapons. One had a Venom Cannon, and he hit both Guardians with the exploding venomous crystals, the poison interferring with thyeir natural Regeneration.
The Guardians fired back with their own Warp blasts, which hit the Tyrants square in the chest. The other Tyrant fired his two Death Spitters, the weapon eating away at the flesh of the two Guardians.
But the Tyrants seemed to be weakening, and this was true, for the acid of the Guardians was eating them from the inside out.
Both sides fell, and it was at about this point in time that the son of Tzeentch's power erupted.
All swarmlings were forced to evolve, and change. The two hives were evolved into one swarm, the energy even feeding upwards into space and effecting the ground hives, and the hive fleets in space.
Finally, Irene and the Tyrant reached the hilltop...
The Eternal Swarm
26-12-2008, 11:13
As Irene and the Tyranid settled upon the hilltop, the tyranid spoke again.
"Behold the destruction caused by our war. Again, I ask why the overmind would want us to fight. What is the reason for this battle?"
Irene, who had witnessed the battled in her flight, knew at last the reason.
"To purge the weak, to get rid of the insufficient, and replace it with the improved." She said.
At this time, the blast hit them both.
The tyrant caused The Shadow in the warp to drop, as it kneeled in sudden pain.
Irene surveyed the knew breeds. She noted the Guardians and Carnifexes appeared to be one in the same thing now. But all the Zealots were dead. The Warp energy hanging in the seemed thick and oppressive. she suddenly realized it was because The Warp itself was spilling out into The Materium, their fighting had opened a Warp rift, and the Warp was spilling out of it!
Out in space...
"Doctor Yamato! We have long range communications! Taking the video feed live!" an excited techie said.
Back in the Milky Way...
"This is the Galactic Network News with a Live feed of the Swarmling war in Andromeda, and, what the hell? Is, is that the Warp? Folks, it appears the feed is looking into The Warp itself. What's going on here? The warp isn't supposed to come here! Ahh, I have a note from our expert on Chaos. It seems the fighting caused a massive rift in the Warp to open, and the warp has spilled out into the entire Omega sector, taking everything with it. Folks, we're looking at the true face of Chaos!"
In the Warp...
Irene shivered as she heard the sounds of the approaching hordes of Demons. She turned around, only to come face to talon with the Tyrant, who had grown to massive proportions. It had become a Bio-Titan. The Demons surrounded the pair, hooting and hollering.
Irene looked down, not wanting to admit she was in a serious spot of trouble, and realized she was standing on a massive brain. Was this the manifestation of The Overmind in the Warp?
"Then let the fight end here, one Overmind against the other." the large brain, the real Overmind said.
Irene realized the truth in it's words, for when the original swarm split paths, the Overmind also divided it's consciousness to direct both swarms. Over time, both healed, but as they came closer to each other again, they began to congeal back into the original Overmind. Irene realized she represented the Zerg.
Irene decided to give it her best, and if she dies, at least her soul wouldn't have far to go. The daemons were held back, but by what force, she knew not.
She rushed the Tyrant, and it stepped back, falling down a hole it couldn't fly out of. Irene followed, determined to kill or be killed.

Irene and the Tyrant Bio-Titan were falling down the hole, and suddenly it all changed. The landscape around them was constantly changing, seemingly unconnected, yet connected in subtle and devious ways. Irene realized they were in the part of the Warp closest to Tzeentch's throne. She herself began to change, both evolving due to the earlier evolution blast, and the ambient energy of the Warp. She began to grow bigger, or perhaps the Tyrant began to grow smaller. Her powers expanded beyond their normal boundries, grasping control over energies most could only dream of.
She turned her wing like extensions into blades, and punched the Tyrant, catching up with it finally, her blades following her fist. The tyrant healed almost immediately. It landed on a cloud which became a fireball which immediatly shifted over into an Eyeball.
Irene landed on the Tyrant, shielding herself from the fireball part.
The Tyrant raked her skin with it's claws, and though she could heal, it was at a much slower pace. She used the energy of the warp around her to shield herself as she kicked the Tyrant. She wished it were a human man, then she'd know where to kick.
She felt something new behind her, and felt a scorpian tail had grown out of her backside. She brought it around to sting the Tyrant, and though it did, the Tyrant grabbed her tail and swung her around.
She hit a brick wall that immediately became a ball of ice which melted to water. The tyrant leaped over. Though the water was liquid, it acted solid, and so Irene found she could stand upon it. Confused by this fact, Irene was caught by surprise when it smashed it's fist into her, sending her rocketing away. Irene gathered the warp energies behind the Tyrant, and knocked it towards her.
Both fell into a glaring Eyeball, and were lost in the blackness of it's pupil.

The blackness faded away to reveal a large room. Irene landed safely on a bed. The room was dedicated to decadence and pleasure. The smoke of exotic drugs beyond the ability of most to withstand filled the room, making Irene cough. It changed her some more, making each attack linger with insufferable pain, each attack be as a new, fresh one, heightening the sensitivity of one's opponent, making them linger in suffering and pain, or if she so chose, to dwell in ecstasy and joy, which ever she decided to dwell.
She saw devices for both happiness and suffering, devices she could not bring herself to try and remember, and fail at describing to another, so odd were their mechanisms. She realised she was in the section of the Warp closest to slaanish's throne. She grabbed a large erect Phallic symbol made out of a gold looking substance, but much harder, and proceeded to beat the Tyrant with it, while trying not the dwell on the subject overly much.
The Tyrant knocked it out of her hands, it seemed she was only half it's size now, and still growing, or it was still shrinking.
Irene stung the Tyrant with her tail, and the tyrant winced, unused to feeling so much pain. Irene shoulder charged it, and it powered through the pain to rake it's claws across her back. Irene punched the Tyrant again, her blades slinging at it like whips. It stumbled back, it's acidic blood spraying at Irene. She shielded herself, blinking behind the Tyrant to hit it again, but it realized what she was doing even as she did it, and did a 360 degree spin kick that knocked her through a wall, and down an infinite blackness.
The Tyrant charged after her.

The swarm began to feel oppressive, and despairing. Irene landed on a dead thing and almost screamed. The blackness did not lift, but the miasma of disease was thick. She felt discouraged, like she should just give up. She knew it was just a trick of being in the section of the warp closest to Nurgle's throne, but she couldn't help herself. She felt sick as she watched a river of filth drift by. She felt so, unclean and dirty.
The Tyrant landed next to her, and she was three quarters it's size, though niether still knew if she was growing or her was shrinking.
Irene lifted her claws slowly, dragging the oppressive weight of despair with them.
She noticed her claws were dripping a toxic substance that could almost surely kill something just from surface exposure, or so it seemed.
Even the Tyrant felt the weight of despair, as it began to droop. Irene attacked it half-heartedly, her head not really in the fight anymore.
No, she mustn't give in to the despair, that's what the Tyrant would want.
She redoubled her efforts against the Tyrant, but it was still a task, fighting despair on one hand, and the tyrant on the other.
The tyrant tried to raise it's claws, but the oppressive weight of despair was killing it. Neither had any hope, or any joy. Both felt as if they would just die here. She noticed the glimmering of something in the distance, and felt hope surge anew. A portal!
She ran for it with all the strength she could muster. The tyrant didn't see the portal, it just followed her, not wanting to die alone. Then it too saw the portal, and felt a surge of hope in a hopeless realm.
Greed took over their minds, each thinking that the portal would close after only one went through. Irene tried to trip the Tyrant as it ran, and it leaped trying to throw her bakwards in the process. Irene blinked ahead of it and sent a punch rocketing back at the Tyrant, who nimbly dodged it, and sent a kick at Irene. She grabbed his toot and tried to spin around and throw him, but fell into the portal instead, taking the Tyrant with her.
Notably, it still remained where it was, and would not have closed on either of them.

Irene released the Tyrant as they fell out at their destination, both falling into an ocean of blood. Hate coursed through Irene, her strength increased dramatically, and her Carapace grew metallic as it extended over more of her body. She stood up, and walked up on the boney beach, the need to kill the Tyrant stronger than ever.
There was no mistaking where they were, in the distance she could even make out a tiny speck on the far distant horizon that was his throne. She wondered if he were sitting on it, watching their battle. section of the warp closest to Khorne's throne of bones was the best place for them to finish the battle, neither wanting to leave it until the other was finished. Irene noted that the Tyrant and her were now equal in height, though if it had shrank or she had grown was still not known.
She turned to completly face the tyrant. It seemed sluggish, possibly due to the disease she inflicted on him in Father Nurgle's realm.
She rushed at the Tyrant, the bloodrage in her eyes so powerful that even the Tyrant was taken aback by it. It blocked her furious blows and bit her on the neck. Her tail reached around and stung it in the back, even as her claws reached his back. Her tail was now very poisonous thanks to Nurgle, and her strength impressive, thanks to Khorne. Not that any of the gods themselves directly interfered, but their influence on their respective realms in turn influenced her to evolve and resolve the evolution blast the swarm was hit with earlier.
The tyrant turned, throwing Irene, it's teeth losing it's grip on her in the process. Her blood spilled into the blood ocean, mixing with it, becoming indiscernible from the rest. Irene was enraged as she landed, the blood ocean mixing with her own, coagulating in the wound to close it.
She willed the Tyrant to her hands, and suddenly a great Maelstrom opened up in the Blood ocean, even as the Tyrant leapt after her.
It dragged them both down into the blood ocean, and flowed as though it were a tunnel Irene righted herself to run along it's surface, the Tyrant doing the same, but running slowly. It was resisting death with all it's might. Irene stung it with her tail again, and raked it with her claws. The Tyrant back handed her with it's clowsed fist, and pulled out it's Venom Cannon. It shot a crystal at Irene, but she blinked behind the Tyrant as he fired, making it miss. She pulled the cannon out of his hands and threw it into the blood ocean, then as the tunnel opened up to where it all started, on the brain, she punched him with all her new found strength, reached into his chest, yanked out his heart, and crushed it before his dying eyes.
"IT IS FINISHED!" She yelled out.
She heard a great rolling of thunder, and the warp Daemons backed away, as though in fear. Everything began to grow fuzzy, and indistinct. She felt something big approaching, and it frightened her too, but she couldn't tell if it was one something, or four somethings. What ever it, or they were, if it was truly THEM seemed so far away that it didn't matter, yet knew their grasp extended as far as they wish.
Out in space...
Yamato stood at the window, marveling as he saw the Warp rift closing before his very eyes. He could swear he saw a shadow, or was it four shadows, pulling the warp back in, as though they had had enough of their game, and were calling it quits for the day. The cameras had caught everything, every moment of the battle. But even Yamato had to wonder if Irene grew or the Tyrant shrank.
Down on the world, the question was answered, as Irene looked down at the small ant-like broods surrounding her. She had grown into a Bio-Titanesse, and had become The Overmind. She could still feel it as a seperate entity though, and knew if she ever died, it would not take away from the overmind in the slightest bit.
She felt the new breeds, improvements beyond anything either breed could do alone, and without the power of Chaos.
She surrounded herself with her wings, and willed herself to return to normal. She shrank down to normal size, but that was it, for other changes were permanente. She realized she had gained many things from her fight in The Warp, and was now the deadliest woman alive, at least one of them.
The swarm was new, and improved, and it hungered. There was a ripe milky way galaxy out there, ready for the eating. Sure there'd be a challenge or two, but Irene was the Queen of the Swarms, what could stand in her way? An egg hatched nearby, revealing a Zealot. The Temple seemed reinvigorated almost immediatly.
"Welcome to the new swarm." Irene said pleasantly, pleased over all.
The Warp rift opened again, and four great bolts of energy struck the four Obelisks surrounding the main pyramid. Then the four glanced into the Pyramid.
The Zealot hissed strangely, and curled up as it bit it's tail, and surrounded itself with a new egg. Irene used Temporal Energy to speed up whatever was happening, mostly out of curiosity.
What hatched looked like a Mindflayer, bearing the form of the Ilithids in their entirety. It had produced a white silk robe.
"The gods are pleased with what has transpired. They gift us with a symbol of our favor, behold, I am evolved to a new level, and am known as the prophet. With my evolution comes a new temple form." the new swarmling said.
Indeed, the temple had changed. One pillar was resplendant of Tzeentch's realm, filled with constantly changing faces, each one whispering about the glories of Chaos, some telling the truth, others lying, all to confuse the listener, which in and of itself furthered Chaos.
One was filled with open gaping wounds, and appeared to be dying, a pillar of destruction dedicated to Nurgle. Disease and contagion spread from it's maw.
One was shapen and twisted like innumerable bodies twisted in a wanton display of pleasure and hedonisim. All were notably female, and the top of the pillar was almost phallic like. Those near it were filled with the heights of sensual extremes.
One was made of bones, and had blood running down it's length, dedicated to Khorne.
Indeed, any who came near the pillars would be filled with the essence of the god it represented.
The temple itself was engraved with the history of Chaos, and all it's glories, inside and out. The temple appeared to be white marble, with gold engravings. From the top of each Obelisk, Warp energy emanated outwards.
The evolution of the swarm was complete, and now it was more dangerous than ever.
