Warrant Officer Rick Hiller was a tall, muscular imposing man who often took pleasure in scaring subordinates from other units who didn't know him well. Despite his figure and the scowl that he usually wore on his face, Hiller was actually a nice, caring and funny individual, at least when the situation allowed for it. He was also a fierce, aggressive and fearless leader who took pride in everything military, especially the unit he lead. He crusaded to ensure his platoon was the best at everything they ever did and it worked. His unit was the best looking platoon on parade in the company and had the best marksmanship scores in the battalion. It didn't stop there, Hiller was always pushing his unit to be better.

Today would be no different, he was going to ensure his platoon won at all costs. In his mind he knew his platoon was better trained, better equipped and wanted it more. While that may not be true, he believed it, his platoon believed it and sometimes that was enough. He was really looking forward to once the bullets started flying.

His tan colored boots kicked up a small cloud of dust as he and his platoon moved into the battle zone. The section he was part of had taken the middle, which provided little cover, while the other two sections stuck to the sides of the road, pressed up against the building for cover. He was almost certain he wouldn't encounter any contacts in the area they were in, that is why he took such a risk. He couldn't see much from the street level, however both buildings to his east and west had two floors, so he decided he would proceed into the western one and get a better view of the battlefield. He spoke calmly through his headset, giving his platoon instructions.

''3rd Section, secure the building to the east and establish defensive positions from within, 2nd section, proceed to the rear of the western building and search for a possible second entrances. 1st Section, we are entering from the front.''

Sergeant Walter Grant was the section leader of 3rd section and he certainly deserved the appointment. Grant was a good leader and a better soldier. Grant flashed instructions to his section. They were going to take the building from two directions. From the front door and the southern window. Fireteam Alpha which included him pressed themselves up against the western wall of the building, stacking up around the beat up wooden door on the front of the building.

Bravo Fireteam headed to the southern wall of the building, two men facing in opposite directions guarding one who was crouched on the ground and another who would be using this man's back to pull himself into the building. The men of both fireteams were tense as they waited for Grant's command.

''Bravo, Frag em, enter after explosion.''

Bravo's Team Leader, Master Corporal Edwin Marks , the man who was about to hop in the building pulled a grenade from his vest, pulled the pin and waited, cooking the grenade. He tossed the grenade in the open window and got down. Listening as the grenade bounced off of a wall and hit the ground.

''Boom!''

The grenade exploded with a resounding boom, sending shrapnel throughout the room and even out the window, so it was lucky that the Marks' had ducked, otherwise his face would likely have many shards of metal stuck inside of it.

Marks rose to his feet, climbing onto the back of the crouched man and launching himself into the room in an awkward, superhero like jump. At the same time, Grant's boot connected with the front door, completely knocking it down and destroying some of the frame. He entered quickly, and the flashlight on his rifle illuminated an empty hallway. He entered further and moved down the hall as the rest of the fireteam joined him.

Marks feet hit the floor and it took a bit of effort to make sure his ankle didn't buckle. He held his rifle high and moved to the corner of the room, at the same time scanning for threats. Another man hopped in through the window, followed by a third. The first to covered the third while he helped the crouched soldier gain entry.

Grant reached a door which he was certain lead to the same room the other fireteam had entered into.

''Friendlies coming in.''

He booted in the door and found himself face to face with the other fireteam, lined against the room's southern wall, weapons held high, ready to go. He headed back into the hallway, a few feet further and he reached a door, this time on the left. Ahead he could see two more doors and a staircase.

''Bravo, hit those rooms.''

He booted down the door and found himself in a crude kitchen.

''Clear!''

As he entered back into the hallway, he heard two groups, one in each room yell that the rooms were clear.

''Bravo, secure this level.''

He headed slowly up the stairs, Alpha behind him covering his every move. Upon reaching the top he found himself in an office which had several windows and two separate doors which lead out onto a large balcony. He kept low, trying not to allow himself to be seen through the door or windows. Using hand signals he ordered his team to take up positions in the windows.

As 3rd Section had cleared the building, 2nd and 1st had done the same, much in the same fashion although it took them longer. They found themselves in a small grocery store with two apartments above. Now Hiller was crouched, peering out a window, looking north.

He could see that after the path/road, the land rose, which also prevented him from seeing all the way to the other side of the battle zone. Also blocking his way were several large rocks, a small hut and a wall which sat on the hill. Although elevation was good, Hiller didn't want to put his team in the middle of things and he was sure he could find better cover. Looking to the west and northwest he could see that a small, long clump of buildings stretched along the dirt road. To the northeast, a larger grouping on buildings.

Ideally these were places he wanted to be. The buildings offered the most cover and would give him the chance to set traps. He decided to take time to formulate a plan, so he had all three sections establish defensive positions within their buildings.

OOC: I'm not going to bother with the map for this post, I'm sure you know where I am. OOB coming.

OOC: U starting in south white marker-point... m'kay...

I'm going to hope 101st won't complain if I move him around a little initially, and assuming he has a nice fat MG /w/ plenty of ammo...

Afterwards, 101st would be allowed to do whatever as he sees fit.

Are there civvies I have to worry about in this RP, and are all doors locked/secured?

IC:
Sgt Crompton was in a bad spot... He was informed that in this scenario, he'd initially be outnumbered, and because of his occupation, he had to work alongside complete strangers and trust them with his life...

On top of that, he was fresh from AIT in covert-demolitions... He may be cocky, but he was enough a realist that he knew that if things went sour, he'd be fucked from both sides of the coin...

Trailing behind him was a not-quite pleased Automatic Rifleman... In front, a canyon to the west, a gulley to the east, and a crap-shack in the distance ahead of him...

The map, which he thankfully had the time to view earlier, gave him a few strategies...

From the south, the path to the west was extremely open to enfilading-fire, the east was heavily covered with rocks and shit, while up the middle there was a house planted square in the middle just to fuck with everyone...

From the north, it was the other way around, only difference was the number of houses one could safely reach... and take shelter in...

As the excercise started, Crompton sprinted down and across the road until he hit the east side of the south berm on the western pass, went prone along the side, and quickly surveyed the situation through his rifle, hoping not to see any movement downrange yet... or worse, the plume of a mechanized division rolling in...

After a moment of pause, he realized nobody was following him, and waved them to advance, double time, and then sprinted further down the road towards the SW edge of the berm, using it as cover, and checked down the road for activity.

He now considered his options, if the enemy wre to advance as fast as he was, the best he could hope for was to set an ambush on this roadside, if they hesitated, it would give him time to send a few combat engineers into the city and rig it to be hell on earth...

One-man OOB: WTF?
Alright, since Orbath wants me+101st against him, and to go up aginst the LAR...

Hiller couldn't see all of the eastern area of the battle zone and although it was larger, he didn't want to go in blind. He decided he would hole up in the western village, in the southern most section. Although it meant they were boxed in and would have nowhere to retreat, it also meant that the enemy could only attack from the north, so they could focus all of their firepower in one direction. Because of this, Hiller decided not to deploy 2nd Section, but rather have them stay behind. If they took they stayed low and went unseen, they could use the building as a position to fire on the enemy if they attacked the other two sections' positions in the eastern village. If the enemy went through the western village and headed towards the building, 2nd Section could hole up while the other two sections could move east and hit their flank.

Hiller passed these orders on to 2nd Section's Leader. The men of 2nd Section already had taken up positions in the building, so they really didn't have to do anything.

Hiller's section left through the rear entrance that 2nd Section entered through. They crouched, keeping low while Hiller spoke through his headset.

''3rd Section, proceed north of the building to the fork in the path, head to your 9'oclock, you will see us, follow us.''

One by one his Section rose, following him as Hillier as he led them around the edge of the battle zone, northwest, towards the western village. 2nd Section soon joined, following 5 meters behind them.

"CONTACT!!!!! MG, unload on them!"

Crompton screamed as he long-balled a few rounds at the horridly exposed enemy, in spite of the fact that, even if the bullets went the distance, they'd be quite innaccurate, and would have lost much of their penetration capabilities...

Still, he hoped that he'd get close enough for them to seek cover...

Had they not been wearing body armor though, it wouldn't seem such a foolish opening-move, as they had strung themselves out like ducks at a shooting gallery...
It also seemed to be their entire platoon...

He then withdrew from his observation position, and readied a smoke-grenade as he issued orders:

"1st squad, take the crap-shack in the middle, bring extra shells for your grenadier; 2nd and 3rd squads, I want you both to counter-attack through the west-road as soon as you see smoke, it'll be a head-on hasty attack, so the enemy is going to be as flat footed as ourselves; 4th squad, you're with me into the eastern buildings... Alright... LET's DO THIS!"

By this time in his speach, he had already prepped a WP rifle-grenade, took aim, and lobbed a "smoker" roughly between the two sides and effectively breaking the brief contact.

Crompton then dashed up the road, and to the east village.

OOC: we may want to wait for 101st to post before continuing...
I haven't heard from him ever since you said he'd have to make a 'toon-sized orbat...

OOC: Is anyone else going to rp?
OOC: Nope, it just us, your platoon of "combat evaluators", my adviser, and Orbath's Unit of cut-throats.

Setting-up a forward HQ in the hut (a scout-sniper team) is a good idea, as would throwing the rest of command into the west village (to coordnate the 2 assaulting squads with the "pocket artillery" in the hut), leaving Crompton with the squad in the east village.

Though, admitedly, I'd have liked the scout-snipers to go with Crompton because of the tall buildings in the south, overlooking the enemy's rear, but I'm sure I can make-do with DMRs and MGs till I get there and simply shuffle them over once cleared.

What of the rest-o-your platoon? You're up to 5 people out of 49...

And where's the enemy exactly ?
Can your grenadier see them from inside/behind the building?
(this is a big map and there's trees and shit obstructing LOS)

How'd he get there w/o getting shot at?
What cover are these people using?
What are their arcs of fire?
Who gave the order to open-fire?

How's their ammunition supply?
Who else is with them?
How many men do you have and where?

Orders!!!!!!!!1 D:<
"1st squad, take the crap-shack in the middle, bring extra shells for your grenadier; 2nd and 3rd squads, I want you both to counter-attack through the west-road as soon as you see smoke, it'll be a head-on hasty attack, so the enemy is going to be as flat footed as ourselves; 4th squad, you're with me into the eastern buildings... Alright... LET's DO THIS!"

On second though, 'regular' would work just as well, and would involve one less 'manuver' team per squad.

West buildings: 22 men, 6 CM-38 DMRs /w/ HM-320, 14 LAR-655, 2 CM-38 UMG.
'Greande pit'/shack: 11 men, 3 CM-38 DMRs /w/ HM-320, 7 LAR-655, 1 CM-38 UMG.
East buildings: 12 men, 3 CM-38 DMRs /w/ HM-320, 8 LAR-655, 1 CM-38 UMG.
Command: 5 people, no regulation equipment, so here be your snipers
Standard Rifle cartridge: 6.5x55 Swede (P++)
Assault Rifle: LAR-655E4 (quasi-bullpup) (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10892498&postcount=17)
Battle 'Rifle': CM-38(belt fed, conventional layout, may be converted for mag-feed, better suited for underbarrel weapons, bipod)

Standard Pistol cartridges: 9x19mm and/or 6.5x25mm
CBJ-MS (http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg101-e.htm)
APS (http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg22-e.htm)/APB (http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg155-e.htm) Stechkin

M-26 (RL XM-26 LSS) (http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/sh28-e.htm)
LAS-12 (12 ga based on the Assault rifle, well, actually, it was developed the other way around...)
HM-320 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10796159&postcount=15) (no, it isn't this... (http://world.guns.ru/grenade/gl17-e.htm) though it looks the same, this beast is a tad stronger built and is essentially a sawed-off breechloading mortar/PIAT in capabilities...)

Hand Grenades/explosive goodies:
-HE, Thermobaric/FAE, WP
-Shaped-charge/land-mine/demolition
-Brick/Wad of C-4 and detonators+cord in satchel
-Frag-sleeves (an add-on, essentially a ribbon/belt of notched nails that wraps around grenades/explosives)
Rifle-grenades

Melee:
Spike Bayonet, Knife bayonet, spade, multi-tool

Armors:
None, flak-vest, 'non-powered mecha'
May add STF/'liquid armor', for the intents of the RP, it's toxic

Helmets:
None, hat, Spectra, FFW helmet

Augmentations/medical (issued, may or may not be used):
Painkillers: Won't feel pain (not always good thing)
Pep-pills/stim-pak: keeps him active beyond normal endurance
Coagulants: Stops bleeding faster
Rations
Medium First aid-kit (takes up space)
Extra Ammo 2 MG ammo cases
Extra ammo 20x 40mm or 10x 60mm grenades
Low-power scope (4x)
High-power scope (6x)
IIR-scope (too expensive)
Tactical/"sniper's" shield
HM-320 Base-plate
Tripod (for CM-38 only)

As for the CM-38 DMR version, think American Knight-Industries SR-25/M110 (http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn13-e.htm) DMR chambered for 6.5x55 Swede.

For the UMG, think belt fed conversion of same.
Although the MSG-90/PSG-1 (http://world.guns.ru/sniper/sn27-e.htm) and HK-21E (http://world.guns.ru/machine/mg18-e.htm) would be more well known analouges.
Quick statblock 'wall of weapons' (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11639121&postcount=2)

The two sections soon found themselves under fire by a machine gun. The machine gun was quite far away, which meant the fire was less accurate but still lethal. Both sections hit the ground, Hiller pulled a smoke grenade from his belt and ordered 2nd Section's leader to do the same. Just as they threw the grenades to cover them, someone else did the same and soon a very large cloud of smoke obscured both sides from each other.

Hiller didn't want to remain static, he needed to get his platoon to cover.

''Move! Follow me!''

He didn't wait for a causality report, he wanted to get as far from where they were now as possible. One man had been hit in the right bicep, the bullet had passed into the armor, which was weaker in that area and entered his arm. Both sections did as they were told, following rapidly behind Hiller as they neared the edge of the smoke cloud. One section made it behind the edge of a building, the other was still partially exposed as they headed for a building further east.

For this map I'm thinking of a larger force, likely a platoon. My platoons contain 24 troops but I can change it a bit to accommodate your numbers.
U has 24 or 32, I has 50 when I include Crompton...

Meh I'm "dehm dirty commie bastards"... :D
Too bad we each deployed crazy amounts of smoke last turn...
My MG from 3rd is pretty much straight fucked though...

If 50 vs ~30 is a problem, then I believe we should try getting all this straightened out and try again later...

Crompton made his way down the road, and signal the squad following him into two groups in order to cover both streets, while he simply ran up the middle like a coccky-SOB...

The smaller north group fared well, and took shelter behind a large house, the squad-leader making efforts to maintain contact and check with Crompton for the "All clear".

Meanwhile, the southern detachment of 4th squad had bogged itself by taking cover and clearing the nearest buildings, Crompton would now have to wait for them as he over-rode their squad leader and informedthem to get ready to move. In spite of the fact that the entire squad was quite tired from the quarter-mile sprint in full-gear...

Crompton thought to himself how these men had been selected, and assumed that 101st had given him mere cadets to work with, as the breaching-crew was struggling with an exterior-wall... Thankfuly, he didn't see the rest of the platoon blunder.

2nd squad was hesitating, due to the fact their MG had briefly sighted the enemy, opened fire, and pretty much prevented their assualt-teams from reaching the buildings as they attmpted to take cover behind some vehicles...

The grenadiers had thankfully made it, but litteraly fell against a wall, unable to advance without getting chopped down by friendly-fire save for a tiny space in the border, which they simply set a sentry upon...

The squad leaders were attempting to either order the MG to cease-fire of to get the assault-team to circle-around behind...

1st squad had just reached its positions, with the MG still lining-up against teh wall and setting a field-of-fire upon the 'enemy rear', as a mountainside almost completely obscured the building that enemy 2nd-section had taken shelter in. The Grenadiers were busy setting-up an indirect-artillery position...
-The assault-team, likewise, was busy fitting rifle-grenade adaptors to their munitions, as it seemed unlikely for hand-thrown grenades to be of much effect.
-Two soldiers took positions along the flanks of the building behind trees and boulders.

3rd squad seemed to be advancing in an orderly fashion by beelining through the island of buildings to the middle and taking positions upon corners of buildings and low-walls, but the MG had strayed from the group, recieving unwanted attention from the squad-leader as he set his MG to cover a still smoky path, figuring an assault would run through the haze at any second. He did not stop to consider the building behind the path...

The assault-teams, armed with LAR-655s, breaching tools, and other demoliyion equipment, qued-up for a forced dynamic entry into a building up ahead as the grenadiers covered the streets and MG took the rear.

The rear-squad-officer flashed an "A-OK" to 1st-squad, wich passed it to 4th, and then to Compton, who didn't have the slightest clue what that hand signal exactly meant in this army... Crompton merely responded by ordering 4th-squad to wide-wheel-right down the streets and to check the border for flankers.

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t238/PROHT/operationfirefightpq2.png

Fire-report:
2nd squad:
part of thee unit has stopped early to engage in some more long-balling/enfilading-fire with an MG and assault-rifles, delaying further advance but giving time for the grenadiers/designated marksmen to take-up fire-positions.

3rd-squad:
Mostly unengaged, focused mostly with advance and checking the main-raid for any rushes through the smoke-screen. One or two grenadiers ready to offer covering-fire for 2nd-squad.

1st squad:
Still setting-up shop, in no shape for further movement, out of breath.
Smoke and hills obscure targets.

4th squad:
Also out of breath, and not yet engaged, almost half the unit is bogged-down inside a building, a sizeable portion was quite exposed during the rush. one grenadier had followed too closely to Crompton and advanced southward alongside the road using the building and low-wall as cover.

You take part of 4rth, 3rd, and part of 1st squad. I'll take the rest.
IC: Mike, Tom, and Charlie were held down by enemy fire but they were putting up a good fight. Mike was the best shot and was hitting or getting close too hitting the enemy. Tom had the wireless and that was holding them down. Charlie was looking for better cover.
