(Yes I'm doing yet another Hurricane thread, only this will be a more confined storm on one island. It's open but few ever seem to participate anyway whenever I do these so it's mostly for me and Kandajha maybe LBZ. But again it's open)
December was going nicely. The Monsoon wasn't as sever as usual this was especially nice for Corona. The island was the poorest of the chain, and had the bloodiest history in the war. The people kept to the primitive way of life more than anything. For Ayla the chief, she always kept her island prepared for Nature. It was off-season for hurricanes but they still happened. Corona was very small, thus hurricanes slam them hard with little time to dissipate, and this would be a bad time. AHSCA's extra food supply from the last hurricane was embargoed over their support for the Ryou, and by the time the conflict ended, it was too late grow new crops. "We're tough, we'll manage." The prideful chief proclaimed. She felt it in her bones, she lived through many hurricanes and monsoonal gales.
Emiliana was busying her self reinforcing their hut. It was their day to day chore during this time of the year. While her husband and son fished for food. The wind was blowing strong today, so it was hard to keep everything in a pile that she needed.
Anahera her daughter helped as best she could. She was still very young.
"Mama, I lost my pile, the wind must have blown it away again."
"It will be fine baby." Storm clouds were already piling up on the horizon, as far as they were concerned it was a typical monsoon storm.
"Good day." Ayla bid the two ladies.
"Chief Ayla." Emiliana greeted in return.
"I was making my rounds through the island villages. How are you?"
"We're good. Trying to stay up in this wind but good."
"Yes it's very gusty today, must be a strong gale blowing in." Ayla acknowledged. "Would you like some assistance?"
"Very kind of you Chief, but we'll manage fine. We have our neighbor, Ydal (meaning Lady or Miss) Kandajha if we need assistance."
"Of course, have a pleasant day."

The embassy isle which kept track of storms usually was able to now forsee hurricanes. But again their systems were still down from the last storm.
"Damn." Pacifica moaned. "Still nothing. I hate technology. I'm reminded why I stay on these islands."
"Easy." Her partner said. "Don't forget these save lives and makes our Lady Duchess happy."
"She's still in Carnelian?"
"I think she'll be going to Imperial soon. Maybe she's already enroute or there, I'm not sure. In the meantime we have work to do. We have to do our last patrol before the Embassy locks down for the Season."

Back on Corona the first claps of distant thunder could be heard. Emiliana was still busy with her daughter at her side.
"Hey!"
They turned to see Alejo and their son Keino walking up from the beach. "Heck of gale."
"Hi, did you catch anything?"
"A little, we'll have tonight's supper fine." He held up the fish.
"Keino, Anahera, go gather water from the wells, please."
"Yes mama." They both complied.
"Wait, son, it's getting dark, take the lantern."
Keino picked up the lantern and led his sister into the jungle to the nearest well."
"We had a visit, Chief Ayla Turell."
"She visited?"
"Yep. She offered us help, but I respectfully declined."
"She's a good chief."
"I hope the children don't take to long, with the storm blowing in, I hate them being out in the wind and rain, it's dangerous."
"They'll be fine. I used to gather water in horrible conditions." Alejo assured.

In the jungle the two children moved gingerly toward the well. Keino moved confidently with out fear, his sister kept close timid and scared. They arrived at the well in no time flat seemingly. "Let's hurry, it's gonna storm soon." Thunder crashed.
