History

Greal was populated for thousands of years by few natives, they fought for centuries against each other. Until the early 1700s, Greal was divided into city states and small nations, which fall fought each other. The leader of one nation, the Greals, vowed to unite Greal. The Greals succeeded after years of hard fighting. In 1747, Greal became the Republic of Greal. The fighting between city states had stopped.

Greal fought a naval war with Zoingo in the 1780s and in resulted in a draw for both sides. But the war gave the people of Greal a sense of nationalism and they pushed on for more. Womer seceded from Greal in 1826, but after a short, but bloody war, the Greali retook Womer. As the years went on, Greal was going out of its isolation, trading with its neighbors. Sasha became the capital of Greal in 1852.

In 1914, Greal fought a short but fierce war with pirates in the southern Greal sea. They were forced from the outer islands and they moved to Grunt instead, dominating the island until in 1943, when after a skirmish turned into a full blown war between the Republic of Grunt and Greal. The war lasted nearly ten years and the Gruntian army surrendered, but the insurgency that followed lasted another decade. Greal formally took Grunt as its first colony in 1956. It wasn't the last. Lasom was annexed in 1963.

In 1972, Scott Walker was elected president of Greal. But there were rumors that he rigged the election, which he denied. But during the period from 1972 to 1976, 500,000 people were arrested and disappeared. Scott Walker kept his rule of the country by rigging the elections of 1976 and 1978. In November of 1978, after Scott Walker won the Presidential election, a former officer in the Greali army named Bill Watson vowed to overthrow President Walker. The resulting civil war lasted three years and killed millions. In the end, Bill Watson won and executed Scott Walker in public.

Bill Watson then became the president of Greal. He was a dictator. He banned any mention of democracy in Greal and killed his political opponents. However, many people view him as a hero or preventing Walker from starting a planned genocide. After two and a half decades of rule, he died suddenly in 2007.

His son, Mel Watson, took over Greal from his father, since he was designated as the successor to his father. He was very aggressive and lead Greal through a few fierce wars with other nations. He was killed in a plane crash and his daughter, who was the successor, took over. She made Greal into a world power and won the first election in three decades in early 2008. However, a nation named the PeoplesFreedom invaded and forced her to resign. After a few months of rule by TPFian forces, they pulled out, leaving Greal a democracy.

Martin Watson gradually fixed Greal's reputation in the world, and started a massive infrastructure program. He aggressively expanded the military to a new height and made Greal a member of a few alliances. Despite his family's reputation, he was reelected. There was an attempted assassination on his life but he survived. Currently, his vice president governs Greal on behalf of the president.

Climate:
Overall, the average temperature all year is 7 C. But the weather is never the same in most places of Greal. North Greal, especially the Northern mountains, temperatures can drop to as low as -28 C in the winter. The south is a different matter. Temperatures can rise to as high as 38 C during the summer. Its rare to see a hurricane hit western Greal, and even more rarer to see a "super" hurricane. One comes on average, every five years. Greal's colonies, Lasom and Grunt have tropical climates and suffer more from hurricanes then Greal proper itself. Greal's third small colony, Watson island is a arctic island with half the island covered in ice.

Cities:
Most of Greal's people live in the large cities of Sasha, Womer, New Klim, Aust City, Varnia, Hallow and a few others.

Terrain

Northern Greal is filled with the tallest mountains in Greal. Some which are as high as 28,000 feet. The north west coast is filled with cliffs are mainly used by the military. There are several large rivers that run through Greal. The most famous, the Devil River, runs through north Sasha and is know for its famous crocodiles. Most of the Greali cities sit on a plain that stretches out in central Greal. The rest of the coast are mostly flat beaches.
