ICly dictators a power hungry men/women that hold power and do all within their power to keep/ expand it. Even if the people fear war the dictators will still retain office. Threatening them won't make them come quietly.

I suggest that if you want to stay build up your nation, make alliances and RP. Eventually you may be able to play the big hero and start a mega campaign against dictatorships.

I am a democracy, but I have met respectable dictatorships, and this declaration of war is way too insane.

As the president of Denecaep pounded his desk, he knew he would have to make a descision soon. He knew what this little country's point was, but he was also smart. He would have to side against this "Riatto". He started small, and issued an order sending two fighter jets and a small squadron of troops to this soon-to-be-defeated country. He sighed and got back to the large pile of papers on his desk... He would of course, bring the troops back with no harm done, if, the declaration of war was taken back.

Riatto, might I suggest you RP your nation as a little more tolerant than that? GWO will invade you and annex you, and few people will come to your aid. There is a steep learning curve here in II and not everyone can mount it soon enough. There are many of us opposed to dictatorships but we all (mostly) interact with them still out of necessity -- if the opportunity to, say, bring down GWO (no offense, GWO) then I'm sure many would take it; however, until that time, those who would either keep as much distance as they can, or they stick to political and economic pressure whenever they can.

I would also suggest that you ask a mod to lock this thread and to not accept any invasions from anyone threatening you because of this.

My god, the rest of you, it's a fucking newbie. Try not to be immediately be assholes and instead let them learn the ropes. Annexing them is a good way to ensure they never come back. As is otherwise destroying them.

No, but you're not even attempting to prevent others on OOC grounds from it, which isn't much different. There hasn't even been much advice given to Riatto -- most of it has been "omg you insult me, i invade you!" which doesn't exactly inspire much other than a defiant stance -- and he's had little time to actually respond, so has clearly focused only on the invasion threats.

OOC: National politics in NS usually don't reflect IRL views. My nation's politics are basically a complete perversion of my political beliefs, sort of like how 1984 wasn't a novel against socialism but rather Orwell's own beliefs perverted and debased and the implementation of an oppressive system based upon that twisted ideology. Plus, from an RP standpoint dictatorships can be more interesting because you can do a lot of things that are impossible under democracy.

While the ASoGM is not a dictatorship, we would not fear your tiny, insignificant nation if we were. If you wish to survive, you will retract your threats before a coalition of dictatorships grinds your bones to dust.

While a squad of troops easily is defeating Riatto's troops, a large emergency boat is transporting civilians to Denecaep, where they can try to start their journey to become a loyal Denecaep citizen. Denecaep urges other countries to transport civilians anywhere but Riatto.

While the Armed Republic of Salzland does not support the ludicrous statements issued by the Government of Riatto, we also cannot support the large-scale kidnapping of foreign nationals advocated by the Government of Denecaep.

We sincerely hope that any such proposals are swiftly abandoned, and that proper, limited action aimed at persuading the Government of Riatto to abandon its insane policies are instead implemented.

OOC: Seriously, you God-moded an invasion of his country, then without giving him even the slightest chance to respond announced the actions taken by his citizens, namely that many/most of them want to leave.

For Salzland's political rhetoric, it's kidnapping, because you have military forces present and are "evacuating" Riatto nationals without Riatto's permission. Dressed up in pretty terms, certainly, but still there it is.

We're not saying dictatorship is the right form of government, nor are ours. All we're saying is respect people's rights to choose their form of government. You can live with people being dictators here.

Denecaep, I would agree with Salzland. Be it 1 or 1 billion people, you can't claim his losses. It comes down to RP etiquette, and also keep in mind that anything can happen when RPing. He might have defeated you, losing 1-2 of his guys verse most or all of you guys. Does killing 4 of his guys have a huge impact on a war? Not necessarily, but at the same time, it is part of how role-playing in war goes.

Also, you let him determine if even 1 of his people wants to go. While it is a "safe" assumption, it also comes down to how the RPing is done. Let him post who wants to go and who doesn't.

Again, both really come down to RP etiquette.

OOC: You know, I was just going to let it go, but now that you had to go and threaten me with an alliance that I not only outnumber combined, but also outspend on defense I do think I'm going to make an issue of it. All you have to do is post a one sentence in-character saying "The Government of Denecaep will withdrawal from Riatto and return all foreign nationals," and it's over. Otherwise, prepare to defend yourself.

IC: The Armed Republic of Salzland, after its polite requests have been rejected outright, will now demand that the Nation of Denecaep cease and desist all activities in and around Riatto, and return any and all kidnapped Riatto nationals to their home nation. Or face severe economic and political sanctions, with the possibility of armed intervention left open as well.

Simple XZarch, you need a firm IC reason to invade another NS nation. Civil wars are common and are easier to do but they've being done too many times.

I remember my first thread. I banned communism in my nation. I then proceeded to make threats against communists who threatened me when I had jackshit to fight back with.

On the other hand, I didn't declare war on 97% of the II world. I only irritated 58% of it.
