OOC Recruitment Thread

Rules

1. There will be some godmodding in some parts of this. Don't worry, it won't be too exaggerated. Otherwise, there will be know godmodding.
2. No wars. If any fighting occurs, it should be RPed through your character.
3. One character or group of characters per person.

Introduction

Ascelonia is now being transitioned into the hands of progressive President William Percival. Percival intends to transform Ascelonia into a true Technocracy, so he hands a bunch of cabinet positions into the hands of scientists. The entire operation itself is called "Operation Changing Hands", but there are multiple operations branching off from Changing Hands. The most notable being Operation Sterile Salvation.

Basically, what happens is that the criminal justice system (Ministry of Justice) has been handed over to a sociopathic scientist who's out to turn Ascelonia into a police-state under his control and with the help of his team of scientist and multiple connections within the Ascelonian government and scientific community.

No wars! I repeat. No wars! I don't have the time to fight or RP total war and all wars started in this thread will be ignored. Things are gonna change steadily in Ascelonia. There will be plenty of jobs to do. You can be a journalist, spy, special forces, foreign scientist, foreign national, ex-patriot, or an ambassador. Though there can only be one or one group of each category.

To apply, just give his/her name(s), age(s), description(s), biography(ies), list(s) of skills {skills should not be outrageous or too numerous}, and equipment

OOC: Interesting idea for an RP, Ascelonia. It reminds me of my own story which is similar to this one but different only in that I use a fictional nation which emphasizes morality rather than technology.

Nonetheless, I don't think I'd be able to participate but I wish you luck in getting a good RP out of this.

OOC: The end result of this should be a technocracy and a redeeming of Ascelonia or a return to regular democracy. The idea behind the RP is to simulate a 1984 type nation and then to simulate it's collapse without foreign intervention.

OOC: For your perusal. I'll delete this bio and move it to the IC thread if it's acceptable.

Name: Lavrentii Milyukov
Age: 45
Description: A middle aged man, average build, with Slavic features and graying black hair.

Biography:

Lavrentii Milyukov was born in Kalograd, a suburban district of Vetalia City known primarily for its concentration of high-tech industries and government research facilities. His father was a technician with the State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology, and following in his father's footsteps he pursued a career in the institute, obtaining his degree in pathology, specializing in virology and viral engineering. Milyukov is intensely devoted to his family, in particular his father, a very dramatic contrast with his professional behavior.

He joined the National Democratic Party at this time, admiring its fascist and technocratic principles and thereby drawing the attention of the Ministry of Defense for his work on engineering viruses to treat various genetic and neurological conditions. He was soon recruited to head a new biological weapons program whose goal was the creation of viral weapons that could effectively and quickly overcome the immune system, producing a highly lethal but self-limiting infection. Milyukov's devotion lay with influenza viruses, and he was responsible for engineering many new variants, many of which produced few or no symptoms prior to death due to their successful ability to completely overwhelm the immune system prior to its mounting a response.

However, his political reputation was nearly destroyed by a depressurization accident at the testing site in New Vetalia that nearly led to a pandemic when infected carriers attempted to escape the base. Milyukov's swift and brutal response, sanctioned out of necessity by the government, led to the containment and aerial destruction of all settlements in a 50 mile radius, killing nearly 300,000 people in the sparsely populated but heavily traveled region. Although the Vetalian government has shown little concern over such actions, the risk of international publicity and exposure of the offensive weapons program has forced his dismissal via permanent paid leave.

As restitution and contrition for the unfortunate situation, the Vetalian government has tasked him as a permanent "secret liason" between the Ascelonian government and its emerging technocracy, a system very friendly to Vetalian goals and the nation's ruthless pursuit of technological progress at all costs.

Skills

He still retains his Vetalian citizenship, powerful contacts in the nation, government funding and the backing of a friendly government willing to aid the rising technocracy through subversive means. He also has his personal knowledge of viral agents and their potential for government use.

Physically weak, like many of his fellow researchers, he is nonetheless an intimidating figure due to his consistently professional demeanor and callous disregard for his opponents, preferring to refer to them in medically-influenced terminology rather than as human beings. His experience sterilizing the contaminated zone in New Vetalia will give him insight in to the needs of the Ascelonian technocracy.

Equipment

Various dress suits and lab uniforms, his International Federation of Virologists membership card, a NDPV membership card, Institute ID, an unknown sum of Vetalian rubles in cash and a briefcase containing personal documents and highly encrypted research data for delivery to the Ascelonian government.

He also has a cigarette case containing twenty cigarettes and a flask of vodka his personal trademarks of sorts. As a precaution from his institute days, concealed in each are doses of various anti-virals and antibiotics, many of which he helped develop during his postgraduate work.

I'm interested. I'll bring in a couple of members of the Black Guard (a cross between spies and Special forces members)

Letter from the Institute of Westphelia, Major Subdepartment of the Department of Research and Development for the Ministry of Justice

Dear Mr. Milyukov,

Your credentials prove very useful to our facilities. We would like you to join our research staff. You have outstanding experience in the field of Virology and Biotechnology. Our main goals, with you on board as head of research team consisting of five scientists (a little less experienced than you, but they are very intelligent), are flexible, but you must pick one of the following:

* Investigate potential of biological weapons and warfare
* Create pain-inducing viruses and anti-viruses
* Research and examine the possibility of creating a "super-soldier"
* Investigate potential of biological enhancements

Of course, you will be provided with test subjects to experiment upon, as well as prostitutes and "whipping boy" testees. Please ensure that you keep protection with you at all times.

Sincerely,

Joseph Macintosh

To Ursava: You may join as long as you provide a little detail about your characters.

They will not be able to see any of the atrocities for now. I will determine when they can. They will have to do a lot of melandering around wherever you choose to deploy before they become suspicious enough and have enough reasonable evidence to present a case to the international community.

I'm interested in joining, so I guess I'll post my character here for you approval/rejection. Nothing flashy, just a basic profile.

Name: Dr. Wilhelm Blackheart
Age: 48
Occupation: Studies of Bio-Chemical Weapons, Federation Health Division-Military Engineering Division Fusion, Department of Internal Control. However, he has been sent as a sort of spy to relay weapons information to the Spire so that they can replicate it for their own use. Publicly, he is a Doctor, and numerous degrees will agree with that (From both the GWO and Ascelonia).
Biography: Dr. Blackheart is simply another "mad scientist" working for the GWO Internal Control Department (The ruling body of the nation). Nothing extraordinary here, other than he has been sent to steal bio-chem weapons from some random nation after GWOIA reports suggested that there might be something happening after the appointment of the sociopathic David.

Keep in mind, his GWO citizenship is completely hidden by the Spire; the only interaction regarding him and them appears to be that he received some of his credentials there studying medical science.

Our main goals, with you on board as head of research team consisting of five scientists (a little less experienced than you, but they are very intelligent), are flexible, but you must pick one of the following:

* Investigate potential of bio-chemical weapons and warfare
* Create pain-inducing, but non-lethal chemical compound
* Generate a variety of useful drugs
* Investigate potential of bio-chemical enhancement

Of course, you will be provided with test subjects to experiment upon, as well as prostitutes and "whipping boy" testees. Please ensure that you keep protection with you at all times.
