Deadlock in Armadia (ATTN Training War, Closed, MT)

Falkasia
04-12-2008, 03:55
Armadia, a peaceful, placid, and relatively undistrubed island chain sitting solemnly in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The geography of the island chain was somewhat a curiosity, encompassed a great deal of the world's climate, geological, and atmospheric features in an area no larger than the Falklands. There was a small desert along the southern edges, with sharp cliffs resembling the American Northeast along it's eastern and western coasts. Down the middle were grasslands and jungles, as well as multiple chains of rugged, high-peaked, and snow-covered mountains to the north. There was also a small tundra on the northeastern and northwestern edges of each island, resembling those of Siberia.

It is truly a wonder why so many nations would fight over such an island, considering how small and insignificant it was. Perhaps it was the untapped resources of such a remote place, or because of it's strategic position in between Europe, the Americas, and Africa. Perhaps, it was simply the hype that caused so many nations join in the fighting. The true reasons behind each nation's involvement would likely be never known, but the conflict soon to be known as the Armadian Deadlock would nevertheless leave it's mark on the land, and the surronding area forever.

Rules:
No WMDs of any kind.
Each nation will be on one of two teams.
Each nation will deploy an equal number of troops (Both personnel and equipment).
Each nation will control a region of the island, and will have a single respective colony in that region.
All weapons must be Modern Technology or older.
Play fair and without godmodding.
Have fun, and if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask one of the teachers.

OOC: Nice start guys! For the sake of simplicity, I'm not going to make my army up of 100% custom stuff. I'l lprobably only use the F-29, AK-113, and maybe a few ships. I'll post my ORBAT soon.

Oh, and Oscar, feel free to observe as much as you'd like!

OOC:Well Falk. I won't be so kind :) I luv our work, but I will post links to all of them so people atleast know SOMETHING about them, without simple guess work. The ORBAT will follow. This is to let everyone know, etc. We will have to add a main base of operations in each island, and an outpost of sorts for each nation. This will happen after we make our ORBATS I'm thinking :D I edited this, and as usual, I did my research in ORBATs. This is an example of an excellent, but over the top ORBAT. Only do this if you are like me, and prefer to make things exact, while being obsessed with military in general lol. It's more work than it looks, and can be a pain to read through, but makes it easier at times to refer to the 1st Braindead brigade, or whatever. Please note: If I do not provide a link to a weapon, that means it can be found on Wiki, even though wiki is generally looked down upon. I apologize for some of the larger pictures, etc. I didn't include every weapon! That would be too insane.

OOC:Extremely well done! I shall try to write the beginning of this, if no-one minds. Heir, that is ammaising. Keep it up! Falk, mind if we get into a small naval engagement? Essentialy, one of my captain gets a little edgy, and gives the order to fire upon your ships. Like a Pearl Harbour type of thing. Hope you guys like it!

IC:

It was a warm, sunny day. The gulls were crying out above the coast, occasionaly diving down to rest. The bright sun glinted off the waves, as they washed upon the shore. However, all was not as it should be, for a few miles off shore, a convoy of the USSD was quickly making its way. The sky above it was becoming choked black with smoke, as they sped as fast as they could to this island in the middle of the ocean. The white wash around the ships caused the water to turn white, almost like a cloud. On the ships, there were many, many heavily armed soldiers, vehicles, and weapons of war. It could not have been mistaken for a peaceful convoy, no matter how hard you tried.
Deep within the lead End All battleship, a lowly ensign was going about his duties. His name was Karl Meisner, and he was the navies best sonarman, and possibly the best in the world. He could accurately judge the distance of an object in the water to within 20 yards using only Passive Radar.
He walked into an unimpressive room, painted in a drab military grey. All around, there were men going about their duties, be they fellow sonarmen, soldiers, gunners, or what. They all wandered about with a purpose. Taking a sip of military grade coffee, and letting out a grimace at the taste, he took his usual seat. Picking up the headphones that were too big for him, he began to listen. Suddenly, he picked up a noise. It was faint, and far off, but it was definately a Falkasian convoy...

Up above, in the bridge

"How far from the island are we, Joe?" Asked Admiral Dr'klow.
"Only 3 miles sir. We should be able to go ashore within 1 hour. Assuming we find our settlement, however. Those bloody numskulls didn't think much of us landing, did they?"
"No, I don't think they did." Admiral Dr'klow muttered. He stood at an easy 6"1, with a slightly hunched back. He was well muscled, so much that he required speacialty made uniforms. A small beard with sideburns covered his face, so that he looked like the sailors of old.
They were all to make landfall, so as to assist the small settlement there already. There had been rumour of a small alliance formed there, without the Falkasians included. Battle lines were being drawn, swords were being forged, and eventualy there would be a clash of ideals for the island...

Aboard the Heirosoloan destroyer 'Path of Sunset' the small crew quickly began readying themselves. They would soon finish the escort of the aircraft carrier 'Path of Sorrow' and the amphibious assault ship, 'Path of Radiance'. Both ships were being used to drop off supplies, troops, tools, and building materials that were needed for the military base that was being set up on their alliances side of Armadia.
The captain of the 'Path of Sunset' strode the length of the bridge once before turning to his radioman. "There should be a Daiwizian, or however you pronounce it, ship coming in to drop off supplies at their colony. See if you can pick them up. I want to make sure they haven't gotten into any trouble." The radioman nodded and turned around, launching the signal to where the Daiwizian ship's estimated location.

The Lorrainian aircraft carrier, Mirage, had entered the Lorraine base of operations just in time to recieve new orders. After recieving some supplies for the crew, it set off to the north to meet up with the Daiwiz fleet and escort them in.

The orders from Admiral Casti also were sent to the destroyers, Fritz and Luminous, to preceed the fleet and give them a little more respect for the Lorraine fleet because they would treat an ally as such.

Over 250 miles south, 4 frigates and 2 subs had been sent off to rounfd the southern edge of the island and scout for enemy activity.

OOC: Nice start guys!

IC: On the horizon appeared the FNS Kazyenko, steaming towards the Falkasain port on the far East side of Armadia. A veteran of numerous wars, the Kazyenko was one of the most battle-hardened ships in the Falkasian Navy. It a crew so skilled in the ways of naval combat, that it was simply almost unfathomable to comprehend.

As it continue to approach the island, small black specks appeared on both sides; escorts. A small Expeditionary Fleet had been dispatched with the Kazyenko in an attempt to protect it along the way, should any trouble be encountered. Nothing of the kind had occured, an the ship had sailed steadily and unobtrusively from the Falkasian mainland.

======

The Falkasian colony was buzzing with activity. Word had just come in that the Kazyenko was arriving to provide much needed protection against the other encroaching nations, as well as the military buildup of neighboring colonies. The sounds of guns firing and tanks driving could be heard throughout the city as it geared up for war, or if caught by surprise, a hasty defense.

Surronding the city was a nearly endless maze of earthworks and bunkers dug deep into the soil. They wrapped around the entire perimeter and effectively covered all points of entry and exit. The trenches had supplies, medical facilities, emplaced positions, and most importantly, underground tunnels leading into the city. If anybody tried attacking the city, they'd have to go through a meat-grinder first.

OOC:What about an airborne assault lol. Wait a minute...I forgot my airborne!! Gonna have to include them! Good job everyone. Daiwizian is the proper name for a person of Daiwiz. I have sent my entire force, except the bombers and transports, for they would be able to land properly soon enough. Don't start a war yet! I still want to attempt a Pearl Harbour! I won't land troops, just attack your fleet after a transmission gets garbled by a storm around Daiwiz. :D Or something like that...By the way, my admiral doesn't normaly say more than is necessary.

IC:

"Admiral, we are receiving a signal from the expected direction of the Heirosoloa fleet. We also have reports of a carrier from the Lorraine fleet is coming to escort us in."
"Do they think we are childs?" Asked the Admiral with a smile. "Well, tell them it won't be necessary. Dr'klow will be more than enough for our protection. Let them know we are grateful however, don't want anyones feelings hurt." A chuckle ran throughout the bridge.
"Now, lets see how the Heirosoloa's are doing..."

Hello, this is Admiral Dr'klow of the Daiwizian fleet heading into position around Armadia. We have not encountered any hostiles, but we do seem to have a Falkasian fleet on sonar. Our scout planes have also reported strange installations around the Falkasian settlement. We have sent a single Helghast class to investigate. We have not been able to contact them for two hours however. We request if you hear of anything that relates to this missing corvette. We request your position on this island, so as to update out maps. We have sent out a submarine to investigate discreetly what has become of this vessel. Thank you.

OOC: Daiwiz, my nation does not know what you are doing IC. I can't do anything unless you either launch your attack, or if you are willing to let me join in the attack, contact my forces IC. The commander you would need to contact is Vice Admiral Robert Feist.

The captain of the 'Path of Sunset,' Robert Lee, nodded his head as the message was relayed through his radioman. He turned and walked to the front of the bridge, where the outline of the island had clearly thickened. Without looking at her, he asked a nearby crewman how long they estimated it would take to reach the island. After she responded he walked back to the radioman. "Alright, I think me might help them."

I'm sorry if I haven't formally introduced myself, I am Captain Robert Lee of the 'Path of Sunset'. We are an estimated three hours away from being free from a current escorting mission. We will contact you at that time, from our base camp on Armadia. If you still need help, we'll sail over and do the best we can. If you need reinforcements, however, you'll need to speak to Fleet Admiral Rogers, he's, of course, commanding the fleet we have here. I can relay you to him if you request it. I wish you the best of luck for your colony.

Understood. We do not require reinforcements, or protection at this time. We will be at our settlement in under 2 hours. Thank you. We wish your colony to grow healthy, and strong.

"Tom, where are the Oseas?"
"Admiral, we regret to say that we haven't been able to find the right frequency. We are working on it, however."
"Good good..." Suddenly, the crackling of static was broken by a faint, but concerned voice.
"Is anybody reading me? This is Helghast class corvette Daiwiz number 261479er, is anybody out there?" The voice sounded young, as if he had just come out of basic training. This was repeated a few times between crackling of static as the cheif radioman struggled to maintain the signal.
"Daiwiz this is cheif admiral Dr'klow of the battleship Dr'klow. Where are you, and what has happened? You have been out of contact for three hours! Report."
"Admiral, a small storm seems to be following the ship. It has badly damaged our radio equipment. I can bearly hear you above the storm. We are just off the Falkasian occupied coast. What are your orders? We won't last long here!" The fear and anxiety was plainly hear within this young mans voice. In the static, booming thunder, and crack of electricity could be heard.
Stories of these following storm were supposed to be that of legend, stories told in mess halls over a beer. They were supposed to never let the ship go, until it sunk to the bottom of the ocean. There was supposed to be only one solution to this, and it was to sail as fast as you possibly could, and so outrun it. But because of the fog and storm, it was always a suicidal way to get out of them.
"Get that ship up to full speed, and just run out into the open sea! You must outrun that storm, you hear me?" A small not of fear for the crew of this corvette crept into this stiff seamans voice. This may be suicidal, espeacially in Falkasian waters. The politicians had settled down after the latest war, but those who fought still remembered it with hatred. The two countries were once great friends, before IT happened...

OOC:Osea, what do you mean? Are you requesting I attack or something?

Message to everyone, I will attack Falks shipping after we have all gotten here. I don't want anyone left out lol.
Falk, I think accidently ramming one of your small ships, and so cutting it in half would classify as a war starter here? My ships all have heavily armored bows so as to facilitate rammings if need be.

Crystalliniah had already established a small military base in the more mountain area of the island, the reason for their interest in the small place was simple one. A country with such diversity of climate also had to have much resources and they wanted them, or at least a share of them. Comrade-Major Sidorov was in charge of this operation, at the moment there had not being any disturbance but they had received word that more foreign powers were taking and had already taken interest in this island.

IC: The Osean's were now well established on the north of the large eastern island with a naval base, an airbase, bases for their ground forces and a number of supply bases. They had set up proper air and sea defences in the area they controlled. The reason's for this deployment was the untapped resources of the place and it's strategic position in between Europe, the Americas, and Africa. They knew friendly nations also were on the island but they were having problems contacting them.

Lorraine soldiers had now pushed deeper into the island. After a long an arduous journey, several squads of soldiers and a few vehicles arrived at the opposite end of the island, knowing the other island was just across the strait.

After the area had been cleared and claimed by the troops, who made themselves a small fortification to give them some shelter, called for the reinforcing units to come forward. Many were simply airlifted while the vehicles drove across. The idea was to build a runway and small harbour to let ships and planes land.

[OoC; This post pretty much holds no value. It is a bump. Anyone want to start hostilities?]

A Heirosoloan zeppelin swayed in the fierce winds as the storm began to expand towards the Heirosoloan base camp. As the zeppelin was moved into a hangar, where many of the aircraft were being stored. A short distance away, a small speedboat approached the naval dock, and slid into a tiny space built for the ship. Two men stepped out, one in a ski jacket, another in a dry suit. As they left the yacht yet another man approached them. The three men conversed in tense voices while they quickly approached the housing facilities.

The man in the dry suit stopped mid walk and began yelling at the man who had joined them. "What do you mean, we aren't taking any defensive action. You know this will escalate sometime, too many nations are on the island! We must prepare a defensive post. You know how important this dock is to us!" With that said, he stormed off, quickly followed by the man wearing the ski jacket. The third man, looking very stressed shouted after him, "But we can't provoke them!" His voice was lost in the howling winds..

John Edwards clenched his fingers tightly around his HMKA-A6 as his patrol unit bumped on the ferocious tropical terrain. The thick jungle brush pricked his ghillie suit and teared it at his elbow. His eyelids were drooping due to sweat and sleep depravation for the last 2 days. His ears were ringing because of the continous groan of the mal-oiled jeep engines.

"It's might rain soon. The clouds are starting to block the sun... We better setup an outpost somewhere."

"Yeah, but we haven't found water yet, they're gonna bring provisions up by boat."

"Well if we don't stop soon the water will be in the back on top of Jimmy."

John grumbled and put his head down on the hard steel-cast passenger seat, and slowly drowzed off to sleep.

...

"BOUM!"

John kicked up, he turned around and found blood, the driver was crying in pain. He looked out the window: his hummer was stuck up a tree, but that's not what caught his eye. The excort taxi in front of him was upside down. It was burning on fire. Everyone inside was no-doubt dead.

IC:

The dark ominous cloud began to tear apart, as the small corvette began heading full speed towards what they though was the open sea. In reality, they were heading straight into the Falkasian navy. As the cloud began to peel away, specs of daylight and calm waters began to appear. It seemed that they would make it out alive, and with a story to tell....That was not to be. Suddenly, a Falkasian corvette of the same type appeared through the fog, too close to avoid. With a sickening screatch of wrending metal, the Daiwizian corvette plowed right through her, ripping her in half. The vessel began to sink quickly, and quietly. The only sounds to be hear were of the storm, and the cries of soldiers. The two ends of the ship ((I know what they are called, it's just too late to remember)) began to float into the shape of a V, before sinking to the bottom. Sparks from the steel ships colliding landed within the munitions store of the Daiwizian corvette, cuasing a catostrophic explosion. Tounges of flame lapped at the sky, as the screams of sailors burnign to their deaths rang out through the entire island coast. Burning seamen jumped into the water, in an attempt to douse the flames upon their backs, as the Falkasian sailors looked on in horror. This was so sudden, so unexpected, that no amount of training, or experience could have been able to help these poor souls. By the time they were picked up, there were only three survivors.

OOC2:Those three are my sailors. Most of your guys would have survived Falk. Also, I beleive your guys could say that i purposely rammed them, then my guys deny it, saying you fired on us. On the doorstep of the approaching storm, the Falkasian ship Svarga idled, attempting to triangulate the location of a ship somewhere deeper inside the tempest. It had been routinely patroling the boundary of the Falkasian-claimed waters as usual, looking for any signs of encroachment or the like. Tensions had risen to unprecendented heights in only a few hours; first with the build up of both allied and foreign militaries, as well as the arrival of many sizable fleets. The last thing the crew of the Svarga expected was an unknown distress call from within the storm.

As they waited on the outskirts of the storm, crewmen busy with their equipment, an ominous shape materialized out of the storm front. It charged full-force at the Svarga as if it's sole intention was to split the ship in two. It did, but not before the vigilant Falkasian watchmen were able to radio in a distress signal to Fleet Command. As the Svarga, now completely cut in half, slowly took on water, a return message was recieved. It brought both relief and anxiety. A rescue fleet was en-route, and would arrive within a few minutes. The other news was more unsettling. Fleet Command believed that the incident was not only carried out by the Daiwizians, but was done with the sole intention of igniting a conflict.

This is an outrage! I thought it was made perfectly clear in our original agreement over the island that you would stay out of our waters, and we would do the same! Don't blame that massive storm for this so called accident! Your ship knew very well where it was going, and what it's intent was! We believe that this "attack" on the Svarga was intentional, and carried out for the sole purpose of igniting conflict in Armadia. We do not know what your goals for such a conflict may be, but we're warning you that we aren't as blind as you may think!

After news of both the mysterious explosion of the Kingarmy transport as well as the Daiwizian and Falkasian corvette collision the Heirosoloan colonists began to suspect trouble brewing, and soon the waters around the colony were regularly patrolled by armed navy vessels, to deter any enemy ships from entering. Meanwhile, the regular storms had severed contact from both the next group of ships expected to deliver supplies and troops as well as the Heirosoloan homeland, and the military leaders of the colony suspected foul play involved. Cut off from their leaders, the colonists were forced to prepare for the worst, with trenches, bunkers, and tunnels being dug around the colonies and their naval bases. Deeming it necessary to make sure their allies were coping with the problems posed by the current conditions, an nonsecure message was transmitted to the Daiwizian colony.

You can start building defences, bringing troops in, send out patrols, or assist in one of these war starters here! You can even come up with your own, just make it slightly smaller, and tied into one of these. We currently have two options, with one of them a definitive war starter, namely kings. It's smaller, but blowing up another nations patrol has to be worth some form of armed conflict. The ramming of the vessels will almost certainly cause a war in real life as well. About my End Alls, they are outclassed only by the Yamatos. One of them was converted into an aircraft carrier by adding the platform only, just to give you an idea of the magnatude.

To: The Despicable Falkasian Forces

We have lost contact with a vessel within the storm, and if what you are saying is true, and we doubt that, you must have come across the missing corvette. One of our scouts picked up a burning vessel nearby a wreck of the same ship. After closer examination, it is beleived to be our ship! We can only assume that your vessel fired upon ours with the intent of sending her to the bottom, and so the captain took the only course of action available at such close range. He charged head on in an attempt to save his great comrades from your deplorable prisons. Do not expect anymore kind words from us!

As this message was sent off, a new one came in from the friendly forces of Heirosoloa.

Official Communique from the Heirosoloan Colony on Armadia
To; The Daiwizian Colony of Armadia

We have heard of your encounter with Falkasia, and are wondering if you require assistance of sorts. We colonists wish you good luck and fair seas.

"So, we are not the only ones having communications difficulties." Muttered Admiral Dr'klow thoughtfully. The massive End All battleship began to pull into one of the few ports on the island large enough for a vessel of such magnitude.
"Well then, it must be the traitorous Falkasians. Only they could have devised such a way to use their satellites. Send out patrols, and keep trying to notify the Motherland. We must get word out. Send out arial patrols as well, we must assist our allies in the search for their supply convoy. I will be taking a look about the settlement if you require me comrades." And with that, he walked out of the bridge and began to descend to the land.
What if they are trying to start a war? I need but look about, and realize that we are not ready for one. Children run about, carefree as the wind, and settlers gather their crops. This is not a military base, but a small city with a military garrison and port. I must quickly get this place in order.
And with those thoughts, he went to meet the commanding officers of the other fields. They must begin to form defenses, and perhaps even a small militia. Yes, that would do just fine...

OOC2:I am about to provide a link to where you can find what my infantry squads, and individual soldiers have. I have also updated my ORBAT a small bit, so as to include my newest design, which finally gives me my custom SPG.

[OOC; Well then, my fleet is leaving. Just a question, but should I tell my plan or not? For courtesy, of course, so that t doesn't appear as if I am godmodding when I do attack. Well, first off, I'm going to attack Falk's naval base. Is that alright Falk?

Osea, feel free to help. Daiwiz, nice post :D
Although you gave 8 men two tents :O]

As the storm whipped up agnry winds that howled across the Heirosoloan naval base, Fleet Admiral Carlos Roberts was reading the reports of his aides, and was disgruntled at the number of strange occurences that had taken place, from the rising hostilities between the Daiwizians and the Falkasians, and the attack on the Kingarmy convoy.

Admiral Rogers sighed, and turned to the messenger that had given him the report. "Well then, I guess we should take action. A nice preemptive strike against one of these filthy Falkasian ports should do nicely. Prepare our naval assualt fleet, and alert Captain Robert Lee that he is to have the 'Path of Sunset' ready to leave as soon as possible. Also alert him that I will be coming abord his ship, so I can communicate and run this mission as smoothly as possible. Get me our meteriologist, I'm going to need the weather as well." The messenger, a brand new one, was wide eyed from the influx of information before nodding, muttering his commands, and nearly sprinting out of the room.

Admiral Rogers turned to his radioman, "Send the following message to the Daiwizian and Osean colonies;

Because of the rising hostilities, our fair colony is suspecting war, and is going to take a preemptive strike against a Falkasian port, hopefully crippling their trade or their navy. Whether or not you wish to assist us in destroying the port, we felt the need to inform you, in case this attack goes badly. If you have not already, I suggest you prepare defenses for attack of naval, land, and aerial kind. We colonists wish you good luck and fair seas." Rogers nodded, turned, and left, already thinking about how he was going to surprise the Falkasians during the assault.

As Dr'klow walked about the area, smiling at the little children playing with each other, and letting out shrieks of joy from chasing each other. A chirp from his personal radio broke his revery of rememberance.
"Admiral we need you back at the Dr'klow. We have an important message coming in you may want to hear."
"Im on my way." He replied as he began to hurry to the vessel. Within three minutes he was in the bridge, gesturing at the radio operator to give him the message. After reading through it a couple times, he was certain his eyes weren't deceiving him.
"My God...The Heirosoloains are going to attack a Falkasian port..."A veil of silence fell over the bridge, broken only by the sounds of a ships bridge.
"Well, if they are going to fight, we shall help them. They went to the courtesy of warning us, the least we can do is send assisstance. We shall go there to assist with both of the End Alls, two of the most experienced Dr'klows, one of the Helghasts, 20 of the PTs, and our Kratik. Send half of the fighter force to land on the island, so as to protect it. Tell the General to begin deploying his troops all about our area, in a defencive formation. Tell him to use the civilians to assist in building trenches, tunnels, and anything else that is required. We must protect this port." And with those words, a war was about to erupt.

Back at the colony, the Falkasian Fleet Command had but it's forces on high-alert. The hostile message recieved back from the Daiwizians was not all that unexpected, as most of the Falkasians knew how barbaric and uncivilized their people were. However, it did not subtract from the fact that Daiwizians were fierce and relentless fighters when provoked. As per orders, all ships were to be kept in a battle-ready stance until further notice, as were the fighters on both land and the carriers. if either Daiwiz or an ally were to attack suddenly, they wouldn't be able to have anywhere close to the same effect the Japanese had on Pearl Harbor over 60 years ago. Also to their advantage was the incredibly shallow harbor that the port was built into, measuring only about 200 feet deep. The Carriers were kept out at sea, as the risk for them getting stuck in the harbor's shallow sandbars was to great.

======

Outside the colony, the trenches were bolstered with the arrival of new troops from the Falkasian mainland, as well as the construction an extension of new tunnels, bunkers, and trenches. Now, it would be even harder for opposing forces to penetrate the colony, let alone make it past the first line of machineguns and recoiless rifles.

Despite the urges from higher-ups, the Captain of the sunken Svarga sent out the following message to the Daiwizian Command:

"Gentlemen" began General Rey, "It has come to my attention that Falkasia and Daiwiz are at each others throats, and that Heirosoloa and Osea are going to make the attack. I propose that we help them out by making a strike at Falkasia as well. We are sending the Oracle, Majestic, and Resiliance to attack their vulnerable carriers out of the harbours. These are our subs and they are also equiped with many verical launch weapons which will target the naval and air installations. They are the newest kind of submarines as well, Virginia class, and should easily get to the outskirts of the enemy if our allies attack from the north and us from the south. It should allow their forces to be concentrated at the wrong places at the wrong time. And ours to be in a perfect set-up. The following confusion will allow for our strike fighters to attack their major defense installations and essentially knock out their counter-strike capabilities. This should be enough to knock out Falkasia and prevent their allies from interfereing because of the damage already delt. Is there any questions?"
The room was silent. As most just nodded in agreement or studied the plan carefully.
"Good, The subs will be sent out immediatly, have them move into Falkasian waters with minimal noise and avoid contact until they reach the targets. I want the Admiral to get his fleet ready to begin an attack from the south and to take the central channel. I also want all air units at maximunm readiness. DO NOT, let our cover blown until the subs strike the Falks. Dismissed!"
The room cleared and moments later, the subs were redirected from their patrols to their target.

[OoC; Sorry, I was kind of tired, must have been confused by it. Anyway, you realize this will be a naval assault, right Falk? Why build trenches?]

Still thinking they had the element of surprise, and not knowing Lorraine was coming the Heirosoloan assault fleet chugged down the central passage, led by the 'Path of Sunset'. The aerial forces were beginning to prepare themselves, but they had been given strict orders to not fly, until the order was given.

-Onboard the 'Path of Sunset'-

Flt. Admiral Rogers gazed blankly at the approaching storm, while the captain and his radiomen scurried around, sending out last orders to the rest of the fleet. Rogers turned around and looked over the proceedings, before walking over to Captain Lee.
"Robert, do yo think we should order a rendezvous point before we go into the storm?" He asked, placing his hand on Captain Lee's shoulder.
"Most likely, but we can't stop there. We have to get there as quickly as possible. We'll just join up and keep moving. I'll get to broadcasting the message soon."

He turned, nodded at his radioman, and began talking:

Hello, this is Captain Lee and Fleet Admiral Rogers of the Heirosoloan assault fleet. Because we will soon be entering a storm, we need to tell you that we will be meeting at the east end of the central passage to attack the Falkasian port. So that you fully understand our plan, our naval vessels will serve as a powerful distraction, hopefully destroying enemy vessels, but still a distraction. The real attack will be an aerial battle. Hopefully our navy vessels will clear any anti-aircraft guns we can find to make it easier, but we couldn't possibly take out all. We colonists thank you for helping us, and wish you good luck and fair seas.

OOC: Yes, I do realize that this is a naval attack, and you'll see what I have planned. My colony is on the eastern coast of Alliance 1 Island; towards the more mountainous regions. Oh, and for all of you, my carriers aren't that vulnerable. They're docked just outside the harbor, but still almost "on top" of the colony. They're also surronded by numerous torpedo nets and other defenses.

John Wegener was rapidly losing blood. He climbed out of the blown-off top of his vehicle. Everything was hazy, he could barely see 3 metres. Behind, up-front and on both sides, fires were blazing, and plumes of smoke erupted. Behind him, his jeep exploded, and made a overshadowing cliff collaspe. Despite his injuries and internal bleeding, he managed to march all the way to the site of the first explosion. He found land mine shells scattered all along. He took a scrap of metal of from the chrased humvee, and tossed it over the flames. Something detonated and a flare came up. Hopefully someone would see it...

IC:
Cool, ocean water splashed about. Miniature waves hurled against the curved hull of a Dr'klow class destroyer, as it made its way. It's purpose was to scout ahead for the task force, and to make contact with whomever was already at the rendezvous. As a final snaking tendril of fog pulled away from the bridge, the Heirosoloan fleet came into view. Hurriedly, everyone went about their tasks, as the radioman and signal men both began to inform the Heirosoloans of their presence.

2 Nautical Miles away

Massive vessels of war bobbed within the calm sea. Water sploshed up against their side, occasionaly sloshing over the deck in a lazy, almost calm fashion. But for the crack pilots of A flight, the ships looked like childrens toys. Small toys, that could destroy anything on the open sea. As they hurried towards the battle ground, men were being briefed, and pilots were cimbing into their cockpits. In 13 minutes, they would force the Falkasians to surrender, or die.

IC:
It was slightly after noon when the Falkasians picked up a gigantic signature massing off the coast of the colony. The large RADAR Dome that had been installed sat solemnly and alone in the harbor, towering over almost every other building in the area. It could be seen for miles in all directions as well, and was probably the closest to a landmark the Falkasians had. However, what the RADAR was telling them was more than slightly startling.

Although it was first precieved as a large stormfront moving in, but after closer examination, the screen showed tens of different individual blips, some of which were as large as battleships. Learing from the mistakes made by the Pearl Harbor operating crew almost 60 years ago, the operators quickly forwarded the data directly on to Command, not bothering to go through the "proper" channels. It eventually arrive at command, where it was reviewed. With tensions already running at extremes, it only took a few minutes of debate to determine the course of action. This action, much to the dismay of Command, would likely either make or break Falkasia's chances on the island.

General Rey looked over the situation. His allied fleet were gathering, while his subs were the only Lorraine presence. He decided to go in full force into the fray.

Onboard the carrier, Radiance, captain Castillo recieved his orders to move out. He gave the orders and went to his room. The XO came in after him, and spoke to him.

They sat down at a chess board onthe table, and began to play their daily game that had become something of a tradition between them.

"So," the captain started out, "It appears that we are going to war soon."
The XO raised his head, then gave a slight nod of aknowledgement.
"Aren't you worried?" he asked, intrigued by his XO's response.
The XO smiled a bit then raised his face to the captain's.

According to Wiki (not the best source, but probably backed up by Lockheed-Martin's fact sheets), it has an internal 25mm cannon, has room for two AA missiles and four AG missiles or two bombs (up to 2,000 pounds each) in its internal bay. Externally, it has wingtip mounts for Sidewinders, and a further four to six external hardpoints(Wiki is somewhat unclear on this account). Utilizing them would, however, render the aircraft's limited stealth capability severely compromised.

Will do an IC post once I finally unpack my computer.

It does occasionaly give incorrect facts, but is perfectly good for using in these RPs. The stealth ability is comprimised as you put more weapons on the outer hardpoints. Sorry, but because we want air to be a minor factor, I have to say you can't increase the number of your fighters. Large airforces ruin the game if everyone RPing doesn't have large amounts of experience, because what's the point if you can destroy the entire force by sending up all 1 million planes? Admiral Derek Vaughnt stood in the bridge of the SDFS Defiant, looking out over the surprisingly calm (for this time of year) waters of the Atlantic. The Armed Republic of Salzland, along with a handful of other nations, laid claim to a section of the Armadian Islands. Normally the Armed Republic would have been content to recognize that multiple nations had legitimate claims on the islands, for a variety of reasons, and let the matter go. Unfortunately, with the Armadia chain rapidly becoming militarized, this non-interference policy could no longer be put in practice.

Which was the reason why Admiral Vaughnt and the Defiant battle group were sitting at anchor in deep water two hundred miles off the North-western coast of West Armadia Island. The President, and by extension the Defense Ministry, hoped that this show of force, along with three full divisions of SDF Marines as well as a significant Airborne detachment would be enough to deter any overt acts of aggression. Were efforts at maintaining peace to fail, it was Vaughnt's job to hold the line and throw back any challengers to the Salzlander claims.

Private high-level diplomatic negotiations with the Nation of Falkasia developed into a mutual defense pact between several nations on the Western Island who were willing to work together in order to secure their holdings. Doubtless the nations claiming territory on the Eastern Island had reached a similar agreement, leaving both sides gearing up for a potential war against each other. With recent reports of a possible engagement between warships belonging to Falkasia and Daiwiz, it seemed that the tensions were about to boil over.

"Bring the fleet to DEFCON 2," ordered Vaughnt, bringing his gaze back from the endless grey depths of the Atlantic. "Issue the exclusion order."

To: Nations Claiming East Armadia Island (OOC: All Alliance #2 Members)
From: Admiral Derek Vaughnt, Commander, Salzland Naval Detachment Armadia
CC: West Armadia Island Nations (Alliance #1 Members)

Subject: Aerial and Naval Exclusion Zone

Be it known to all parties that from this point forward, an Aerial and Naval Exclusion Zone now exists for a two hundred mile radius around the SDFS Defiant. Any non-civilian aircraft, and any vessels approaching within two hundred miles of the Defiant will be given one warning to reverse their course and exit the exclusion zone. Should the warning be ignored, Salzland military aircraft or naval vessels will be dispatched to escort the offenders out of the exclusion zone. Should this fail, the offending aircraft or vessels will be fired upon and destroyed.

Should any submarine be detected within the exclusion zone it will be engaged and destroyed without warning. Should any hostile actions be taken during any of the warning stages, it will be responded to with force.

Signed,

Derek Vaughnt

OOC: Sorry again for the overly late post.

IC: Fleet Command's ultimate fear was realized when the results of a high-altitude flyover by a C-160 "Transall" aircraft yield pictures and data pointing to the massing of Alliance Two ships, possibly in an attempt to destroy the chances Falkasia had on the island at all. The entire fleet was put into DEFCON 2, and the Carriers themselves were undocked and sent out to sea. Fighter aircraft were scrambled into the air, and were cycled out over time, so that there was continious coverage over the colony. Fresh ammunition and supplies was distributed out to the soldiers in the trench work, and the coastal guns built deep into the granite cliffs were readied for action. The Anti-Missile Batteries, which had long been stored underground, were brought out and deployed in strategic positions across the colony, ready to intercept any munitions coming their way. If the enemy came knocking, whether by air or naval power, each would face one hell of a struggle simply getting in range of the harbor.

Its because that its no use trying to build an aircraft that can withstand an incoming missile. Theres just no way. BUt if they can go faster and outrun it, then they have a chance.

Also, The F-35 is designated as a joint strike fighter, meaning that its supposed to be used as both ground attack and air supremacy. Personally, I would have used F-22s cause they are stealthier and pimarily fighters, but they can also be used as bombers if needed. BUt its best to use the fighters you have in destroying his fighters, and the fighters on the ground. Since there will be more people on our side, you can split your forces between the air supremacy and the rest can attack the ships. If you can get a few dozen missiles off, then they will get through and destroy his ships. His ground emplacements aren't that much of a threat, just launch a few missiles from ships and the fighters and they will be toast. I also have some A-10s, they are specifically for ground attack, so they will just run through the colony and utterly anihalate any of his positions without worrying about being destroyed by ground missiles.

Their despicable leader Falkasia has initiated military actions, and we are about to reprimand them, for the children they are. Also, we wish to know wether the Falkasians are jamming your signals to your homeland as well?

[OoC; Righto then, so my forces will lead the charge. My air force will come in soon, just not as many as I had originally planned.]

The Heirosoloan assault fleet began to move quickly, hoping to reach the Falkasian colony before any Salzlandic forces could interrupt there raid on the port. As the port began to come into view, the cannons aboard the ships were prepped, and the submarines sped ahead, hoping to surprise the enemy before they could prepare themselves, which might tear their defenses.

The 'Path of Sunset' pulled ahead of the other Heirosoloan forces, followed by an America class AAS and other destroyers. From the sky dropped two zeppelins ready for battle, each zeppelin escorted by two F-35s. As soon as the submarines entered the bay, they fired a single salvo of torpedoes at the nearest Falkasian ships, and quickly split up before firing any more.
Falkasia
30-12-2008, 23:47
Having been expecting an attack from Alliance Two for some time now, the Falkasians were more than prepared for the sudden torpedo attack by the Heirosoloan submarines. As the torpedos whizzed through the water, the majority of them became bogged down or outright stuck in the thick mud and gunk that covered. The others either become tangled in the multi-layered torpedo nets surronding each ship, or exploded on contact with the nets. However, as to be expected, a few made it through, although only doing minor damage to the ships. Meanwhile, the roving patrols of Falkasian aircraft that had been scouring the sky since the "incident" with Daiwiz were called into immediate action and began attacking the submarines one by one as they split up. As they closed in on their targets, who were trying to make a break for it, each fired off volleys of standard Air-to-ground rockets, followed by the more powerful and specialized RPK-9 Anti-Submarine Missiles.
Osea 767
31-12-2008, 00:21
The Oseans also moved into the attack. The carrier launched 25 F-35s fitted with 2 AIM-132 ASRAAMs and 2 Osean Long Lance anti-ship missiles(OOC: its capabilities are roughly the same as a AGM-84 Harpoon, but designed to fit on the F-35) in their internal bays and another 6 AIM-132 ASRAAM. Having missiles on the F-35s wings would compromise their stealth but they would be expected by now. The Carrier stayed at a distance with an escort consisting of all the Oliver Hazard Perry frigates, PB-91 Patrol/Fast Attack Boats and two of the Alpha-class Mk III submarines, while the rest of the fleet, consisting of 2 Renown Class Battlecruiser, 1 Iowa class Battleship, 5 Arleigh Burke class destroyers and 2 Alpha-class Mk III submarines began firing at the enemy ships with Harpoon anti-ship missiles and torpedoes, while firing a salvo of tomahawks at the port facilities and firing surface to air missiles at any aircraft that dared to get into range.
Heirosoloa
31-12-2008, 01:46
The first torpedo salvo, rendered useless by many well prepared defenses, was followed quickly by a second, but by this time only three subs remained untouched, two being destroyed and the rest having varying degrees of damage that sent them scurrying for cover amid the rest of the assault fleet. As soon as they reached the cover of the assault fleet, two salvos of anti-air missiles were fired at Falkasian aircraft, and one of each zeppelin escort abandoned the bomber to chase down Falkasian aircraft. Meanwhile, the zeppelins themselves hovered over the Falkasian port, dropping down bombs upon the naval vessels and buildings.

---

Meanwhile, the Heirosoloan Air Force had been preparing to attack, and quickly a wing of air superiority fighters, as well as multiple bombers, headed towards the Falkasian port, in hopes of wreaking havoc on the distracted vessels.
Following the leads of the fighter jets were two Apache helicopters armed with untested missiles designed to tear apart bunkers, trenches or other structures, defensive or not.
Falkasia
31-12-2008, 01:49
It was at this time that the carefully positioned and concealed Anti-Missile Batteries opened up, unleashing lethal volleys of missiles first towards the Tomahawks to ensure their survival, then against the Harpoons and Long Lances to protect the ships. Surface to Air missiles weren't much of a problem, as the aircraft didn't venture out far enough to where contact with the carrier could happen.

All along the harbor, the ships were becoming active, unleashing their moorings and deploying their own missile batteries for a counter-attack. The main battleship in the harbor, a lonely Iowa Class, had already started pounding away with it's guns.

Casualties so far were relatively light. Roughly 100 sailors had been killed by the initial attack, and more had been killed in the resulting fires. One Helghast had been sunk, although becuase of the shallow harbor, it was unable to go under completely and instead became lodged in the mud.

OOC: Now to respond to your attack Heirosoloa. Consider the two posts happening at the same time.

As the Heirosoloan aircraft approached, both ground based conventional AA fire and Interceptor missiles were fired off against the approcahing bird. Most of the conventional turret fire was concentrated on the Zeppelin, as it was a slow moving, light, and incredibly large target to hit. It took only a few rounds of fire before fiery holes began opening up in it's hydrogen canopy. Meanwhile, Air-to-air and surface to air missiles continued to streak through the sky, focusing first on the bombers to limit groun damage, and then of the Superiority Fighters to prevent aircraft casualties.

Things were beginning to heat up...
Heirosoloa
31-12-2008, 02:10
[OoC; Yarr. There be TWO zeppelins, Falk.]

The Heirosoloan destroyers joined the Osean vessels, hoping to form a united front to push back the Falkasian vessels. As the flaming carcass of the zeppelin fell, the remaining F-35s that were used as escorts began targeting the anti-aircraft cannons, one instantly being destroyed by an anti-aircraft missile.
The aircraft were soon joined by their depleted brethren, one Apache and numerous bombers and superiority fighters already lost to the AA missiles. Of course, the remaining Apache, as well as the bombers and the other zeppelin, began concentrating all fire towards the anti-aircraft cannons, with limited success. The anti-aircraft guns would change the battle, if the Heirosoloan aircraft were destroyed, the assault fleet would lose it's edge, and most likely be destroyed.

--

Meanwhile, underwater, the remaining submarines redeployed, the opposition aircraft now sufficiently distracted. This time multiple salvos of torpedoes were fired, in hopes of a better percentage of success. Extra care was taken to avoid any allied vessels, or the annoyances of torpedo nets. The ships leaving the port to defend were targeted especially, and the submarines chose to hide underneath them to avoid any airplane that noticed them, or to at least keep them from firing.

ooc: here we go, i lost the other post so here's a new one.

As the initial battle started up the Lorraine fleet was still inactive as the situation was sized up. the subs hidden to the south of the fight, still hidden in their silent stalking of the carriers. the subs, silent for days now outside the Falkasian port, prepared to unleash their hell.

"Captain! Falkasian carriers at 48,000 yards! They're starting to move!"
"Good. Have our other subs target Carriers designated Masters 2 and 3."
"aye sir"
"and load the Vertical Launch tubes and the forward tubes with TOmahawks and harpoons respectivly."
"Aye sir."
A brief silence ran throughout the ship
"All tubes ready sir"
"Fire harpoons at Master 1, target those emplacements on the ground with the tomahawks and launch!"
"Aye sir! Launching all weapons now!"

The 3 subs, on the south and unexpected side of the battle, launched theiir deadly payloads at the carriers and quickly scurried to a position to the west, and again fell silent as the crept farther up north.

as the missiles from the subs surfaced, the Lorraine fleet took action, they had moved to the western part of the battle, to flank the Falkasian craft while they were distracted, now that the missiels arose, they to opened up with a barage of missiles, causing the already overwhelmed Falkasian ships to split their defensive fire and catch them off guard. On the Carrier, the F-22s took off and split the Falkasian fire yet again, this time from the sky dozens of missiles appeared out of nowhere on their radars.

The Osean F-35s concentrated their anti-ship missile fire on the lighter enemy cruisers. They fired a total of 30 Long Lance missiles at the enemy cruisers before enaging the enemy aircraft with their AIM-132 ASRAAMs. The Osean Iowa and the two Battlecruisers turned on the one Falkasian Iowa attacking it with Harpoon anti-ship missiles, 16-inch and lighter 5 inch guns and Tomahawk cruise missiles.

The 5 Arleigh Burke class destroyers each fired two Tomahawks at the enemy air defences and then formed around the Osean Iowa and the two Battlecruisers, forming a defensive screen while engaging the the enemy cruisers with Harpoon missiles, their 5 inch guns and Mark 46 torpedos. The 2 Alpha-class Mk III submarines noticed tht the enemy carrier was not in port. They both fired 16 Tomahawks at the Port installations, intending to put it out of action and 4 Tomahawks at the enemy air defences. They then began to search the area for the enemy carrier. The Osean carrier dispatched its Seahawks to help with the search.

As the battle was begun by the fleets of their fellows, the Daiwizian sailors loaded the guns. The End Alls began to turn their massive guns in the direction of the Falkasian defenses, as the crews of 5 Flights began to ready their Harriers and F-35 Lightenings. All except for a single flight of F-35s was armed with as many Air-to-Surface missiles as could be jurry rigged, for they expected the skies to be farely cleared of Falkasian fighter craft. The single flight was instead outfitted with an extra internal 20mm cannon, filled with incendiaries. This flight would make high speed runs on the AA guns, and rip them apart with incendiaries.
They began to take off, accelerating to full speed as soon as they had formed up into groups of four. Once they began to near the airspace of Falkasian forces, they began to be shot at by very minor flak. The crews had enough targets on their hands what with the Heirosoloan, Lorraine, and the Osean forces joining in the attack. They began to dive, one flight at a time, to bombard their respective targets with missiles. The B-63 bombers were en-route, armed with 250 ib bombs, and a few with many Mark 46 torpedoes. However, they would end up being the mop up force.
The Dr'klow class frigates began to roam about in front of the End Alls, while the Helghasts and PTs sped on ahead so as to assist the forces already engaged in battle. As the End Alls finally came into range of firing, they let loose salvo, after salvo upon their unfortunate targets which resided in the town. Massive craters were carved out of the ground, and buildings crumbled under the massive shockwaves of the 16-inch guns. The launch pads for the Tomahawks were quickly readied, and put into use. From each vessel two Tomahawks were launched with a deafening roar breaking the noise of the guns. Two more were brought up, then two more, and so on. They were all headed for expected groupings of defenses, and areas that flak was concentrating from. Also any tall or large buildings that could be formed into strongpoints were targeted for utter destruction. By the end, a total of 16 Tomahawks will have been fired from both vessels.
The Falkasians would not recover from this decimating blow.

The attack on Falkasia's naval assets in Armadia had not gone un-noticed by the Salzland detachment stationed on the Western island. The Air Force garrision had remained close to shore, prepared to defend against any incursions from the Eastern Armadia Alliance. The small Salzland Naval detachment had simply been caught out of place, and unable to assist the Falkasians. Until now.

On the deck of the SDFS Defiant, a final flight of F-35 Lightning II fighters catapulted off the flight deck to join the Alpha Strike orbiting the fleet. The entire air wing, minus eight F-35s reserved as a last ditch defense, were being launched to clear the skies of enemy aircraft and launch a retalatory strike against the gathered opposing fleets. F-18F SuperHornets loaded with Harpoon air-launched anti-ship missiles made up the main striking arm of the air wing, while the F-35s would carry their full allotment of Sidewinder heat-seaking missiles and AIM-120D AMRAAM fire and forget missiles.

With the aircraft finally deployed and heading toward the enemy fleets, the Salzland fleet began warming up its RADAR arrays and seeking targets for anti-ship missile strikes. SH-60 SeaHawk helicopters began orbiting the fleet seeking enemy submarines, while the Salzland Virginia-class boats proceeded slowly toward the enemy fleets, hoping to sneak in undetected and attack high-value targets. P3-C Orion anti-submarine aircraft began dropping lines of sonary buoys ahead of the Salzland fleet, aiding the attempts to ferret out any nearby enemy subs.

Once the fleet made RADAR contact with the enemy forces, the cruisers would begin to unleash volleys of Tomahawk missiles, aimed at the enemy capital ships. It was hoped that a decisive opening blow could be struck, earning retribution for the Falkasians and then some, as the Salzland ground units prepared for the conflict's inevitable expansion to that theater as well.

The Salzland naval forces had gone unoticed until their radar lighted up their entire force.
"Perfect..." Though the ADmiral as his ships picked up the radar waves hitting them. He made his decision fast.
"Attention all ships!" He yelled into the radio, "Salzland forces have been picked up, activate all defenses and watch for incoming missiles!" s he said that several missiles appeared on the screen, moving towards the various ships in the many fleets.
"Shit." He whispered, "Launch the remaining fighters and tell them to take out the missile going to for us, and get those destroyers to move in the way of the incoming missiles, they will use their more powerful defenses to keep the carrier safe." He watched as the Salzland radars originted and spread out.
"Target the origins of those Radar waves and fire missiles at them now! i want those Salzlandians to get a warm welcome. Have the subs reached their rally point?"
"Aye sir."
"Send them a brief message," He paused letting the message operator get ready, "Salzland naval ships approaching fleet, possible submarine and Anti-Submarine units with them, fire a salvo of whatever you got left and go north, to avoid their helos and ships. Fighters will try to eliminate the main ASW opposition to you, be silent until they come into range. Keep your passive sonar running and dive beneath the layer (Area of water where detection becomes nearly impossible if not moving or moving slowly) to avoid detection., good luck."
"The message has been sent Admiral."
"Good, now, divert our fighters from the fight and target the Salzland forces, they are bound to have some fighters up there and we have to be ready."
"Aye sir," The message was spread to the Lorraine fighters to leave the Falkasian battle and protect the fleet and be on the lookout for Salzland forces.

Miles away, the 12 A-10 Thunderbolt 2s that had been absent from the fight were now approaching the Falkasian colony. The Falkasians were no doubt expecting attacks, but they were expecting attackers to be high in the sky and dropping bombs on them, not flying low and from the other direction. They closed the distance to the colony and readied themselves as they came upon the colony, flying low below the radar and sometimes under the treeline in freak cases. When they neared the colony they targetted the AA emplcements and fired what missiles they had, and began to strafe other targets with the gattling gun and DU rounds.

While the fleet's RADAR arrays were unable to detect the enemy surface ships at the present range, the E-2 Hawkeyes following the strike group had no such problem. Precise co-ordinates for the Lorraine fleet were relayed back to the fleet, and immediately uploaded into the BGM-109 Multi Mission Missile Tomahawk cruise missiles carried by the fleet cruisers and battleships. Each vessel prepared to unleash a salvo of the autonomous cruise missiles at the approaching enemy vessels. The missiles were programmed to seek out carriers as a priority target, followed by other capital ships and cruisers. If no targets met these parameters, each would home in on any air-search radar, eliminating any potential threats to the fleet aircraft. The Tomahawks would leap out of their Vertical Launch cells before descending to an altitude of 10 meters, literally skimming the surface of the sea. While this maneuver risked losing some missiles if a particularly large wave crossed their path, the RADAR returns for the missiles would almost certainly be lost in the background clutter at such a low altitude.

Upon receiving the go order, fifty five Tomahawks salvoed off towards the Lorraine fleet, as the Salzland naval aircraft continued to close into Harpoon range. Once they reached the maximum Harpoon SLAM-ER variant range of 160 miles the 16 F/A-18F SuperHornets would each launch two missiles into the enemy fleet. Following that, the escorting F-35s would join them to hunt down and destroy any remaining opposing Combat Air Patrols. In the mean time, fleet SAMs and ballistic CIWS were prepared for imminent contact with either enemy aircraft or missiles, and the JHPSSL laser CIWS on the capital ships began charging. The instant any enemy missiles were detected inbound, they would be engaged by Standard SM-2 Surface to Air Missiles at a range of 100 miles, and continually engaged until destroyed. Similarly, any enemy aircraft approaching within 100 miles of the fleet would be engaged.

As for sub-surface threats, the sono-buoys carried by the Orions provided an adequate screen for the front of the fleet, while the SH-60 SeaHawks covered the flanks and rear. Oliver Hazard Perry-class Frigates provided perimeter security, pinging with their active sonar in search of potential threats. Closer to the carrier the Arleigh-Burke class Destroyers checked potential gaps in the Frigates' coverage, with the Cruisers and Battleships physically shielding the carrier and providing a last line of defense.

The Salzland Virginia-class submarines were nearly within sub-launched Harpoon range, with each vessel prepared to fire a pair of missiles before sinking back into the depths and closing with the remaining enemy forces. In all, Admiral Vaughnt was satisfied that his opening strike would land a crippling blow against the enemy forces.

As the missiles were detected in the launch, the Lorraine fleet opened up with its own barage of missiles towards the enemy fleet. Joining the fight, about 50 Lorraine fighters circled the above the fleet, ready to start fighting once the enemy fighters got into range. In the first line of defense, the frigates and destroyers launched their own missiles at the enemy fleet, then concentrated on taking out the missiles coming to them. They opened up first with launching dozens of missiles, which would try to destroy the missiles farther out. Once fighters were detected, they fired off several SAMs at them, hoping to score some kills and destroy the fighters before they got to close.

The guns on the ships fired off flak to rip through the missles and distract some of them off target. the oncoming threats were falling out of the sky, but there were so many of them to take out.

As the defensive layers off missiles were eventually passed by the missiles, the fighters, still close to the fleet came down and targeted the missiles and began to fire some of their own missles to destroy them, though not to many to keep enough for th oncoming air battle. THe missiles closed in, now much less in number, and were engaged by the vulcans on the out perimeter. As they closed in, the final lines of defense, the 3 vulcans on the carrier, opened up, destroying another few before the last instant.

The Admiral decided to turn his carrier around put some distance between him and the missiles to try and give his guns the chance to bring them down. in a few minutes he was heading back around, the last of his missiles firing off toward the missiles.

By now the fighters were back in the sky waiting for the enemy fighters to show themselves. The outer ships had already taken out as many as they could, over 40 had been destroyed, and were back to launching their own at the Salzland fleet. The carrier was quiet for a few moments before the radar showed 11 missiles headed for her. The vulcans unleashed what fire they could, destroying 4 in the first few seconds, while another 2 were destroyed in the final seconds. The first hit came when one gun had to pick between 2 different targets and couldn't swing around to shott the second. The missiles began to hit, stern of teh ship was ripped into, and though prepared for that area to be hit, killed 28 sailors. then anotehr hit the flight deck, 2 hiting the port side and ripping a gaping hole into the hul. The final hit the side of the command deck, causing everyone insde the bridge, including the Admiral to be incinerated by the fire. The carrier had lost hundreds of crewmen and the only working weapon onboard was a lone vulcan, the rest had been destroyed or damaged. The huge ship was almost impossible to sink, but it was damaged to the point of no return.

The rest of the fleet pushed on though, firing missiles constantly and never ceasing their efforts. When the Salzland aircraft entered radar, hte Raptors, high above and steathily watching, picked out targets and fired their Air-to-Air missiles at their major threats first, the F-35s, then at the Hornets who were no match for them.

The subs had been waiting below the layer the entire time, only realizing that the enemy fleet was about 35,000 yards away once the passive sonars destected huge amounts of action and movements on the surface area. They found themselves inside a ravine where they could hide and decided to start their hell. They waited till the action closed in to where their sonars were practically useless in distinguishing targets. They loaded torpedo tubes and waited for the Radiance to fire first. The Radiance, while the action had a brief exlsion of activity, probably missile launches, he rose to the depth where his torpedo could work.

The Captain waited until hi s sonarmen had found 2 targets, large targets by the sound they made, and then fired 2 torpedos each at the ships, then found 2 more targets and fired again at those, hoping to sink the Salzland fleet from underneath itself. The Salzlandships immediatly detected the launches, but the subs fired then ran at top speed in towards the Lorraine fleet, then stopped, turned 30% port ad driftedsilently.

OOC: My aircraft were (at the time of my post) still over 160 miles away from your fleet, since I had yet to fire off my SLAM-ER Harpoons at your ships. Not trying to be a dick, just wanted to clarify whether or not your aircraft were coming out from your fleet's SAM envelope or not. They would also be out of range of your naval SAMs, I believe, unless you're using NS designed weapons (or the Russian navy had something I am unaware of). Thanks. I'll wait to do anything with my naval air wing until this is cleared up.

Also, how many missiles (and what type/types) are you firing at my fleet, so I can properly respond to them. Thanks

IC: As the first Salzland cruise missiles struck home, a second volley went up. This time the Arleigh Burkes in the fleet added their own 3M Tomahawks, bringing the total missiles in the second salvo up to 75. With the enemy carrier damaged to the point where flight operations were compromised, at the very least, the second missile volley was targeted at the opposing escort vessels. Specifically, vessels radiating air-search radars, such as the AN/SPY-1 used as the backbone of the 'Aegis' system.

In the sonar room of the Perry-class Frigate Illustrious, the sound of outer torpedo doors opening indicated the presence of at least one hostile submarine rising out of the thermocline layer and preparing to fire. The vessel immediately notified the rest of the fleet, before engaging the hostile contact with a pair of Mark 50 torpedos. The sound of other torpedo bay doors opening was nearly masked as the first hostile contact launched a pair of torpedos at the fleet. A second pair soon followed.

With torpedos in the water, the Salzland fleet was forced to accept that at least some damage would be dealt to them. The Defiant and its escorting vessels immediately turned to present their sterns to the enemy torpedos, to open up the distance and hopefully cause the torpedos to exhaust their fuel supplies. At the range the subs had engaged at, it was likely that at least one of the torpedos would be evaded in this manner. Should any manage to hit, they would be more likely to land a crippling blow but far less likely to outright destroy any of the warships.

The second option was to engage the enemy submarines. The enemy submarines had fired at close to the maximum range for their torpedos (OOC: I'm going to assume you're using Mark 48 ADCAPs, if not please correct me and I'll edit this), meaning that they would have to guide their torpedos by wire through the escorting Salzland naval vessels, unless they wanted their torpedos to merely home in on the nearest vessels on a similar bearing to their target. This would force them to either cut the wires and accept that they would be denied their prize, or remain on station to guide the weapons in and risk being destroyed.

The fleet tracked twelve incoming torpedos coming from three separate sources by this point. All capital ships had been ordered to brace for collision as the fleet began hunting the offending submarines. SH-60 Seahawks deployed to the firing locations and began dropping Mk 50 torpedos of their own, each radiating its active sonar as it descended and hunted for targets. The Arleigh Burkes added ASROC fire of their own to the mix, bringing a total of 15 Salzland torpedos in the water hunting for the enemy submarines. At least two fired by the Illustrious were firmly locked onto the first submarine to engage the Salzland fleet, while another trio were locked onto a second contact. The third enemy submarine would apparently escape unengaged, as the Salzland ASW efforts failed to detect or engage it.

The commanders on the Osean carrier were surprised that the Salzland fleet had managed to arrive so soon. But they knew that they had to strike the enemy immediadly, before the enemy atacked them. They did have their reserve fighters, 25 in total, armed and ready to launch a second attack on any surviving Falkasian ship. But that was no longer a priority. The forces attacking the Falkasian port were ordered to continue their fight with the Falkasian forces for the moment but to be prepared to withdraw back to the carrrier.

The reserve fighters were launched with 2 AIM-132 ASRAAMs and 2 Osean Long Lance anti-ship missiles in their internal bays and 6 AIM-132 ASRAAM fitted on their wing pylons. the two alpha Mk III submarines with the carrier were ordered to move into range for their Harpoon missiles. Luckily the Salzland fleet was presently mainly engaged with the Lorraine fleet. This would improve the chance of their success. The primary target was the enemy carrier, followed by their battleships and cruisers. The submarines would fire half their missiles for the attack, 8 missiles in total. If possible, they would try to attack the enemy with their torpedos.

OOC: In character post will come later, have to get off the PC now. Osea, I'd like to clarify how far apart our fleets are, because depending on this your subs won't be in range for some time. It will also affect my reaction to your air strike.

Also, it's not your fault, but whoever copied the stat blocks for your 'Alpha' (or 'Alfa' to use the real life source) submarine mangled the armaments section. The statblock is effectively unchanged from the Russian 'Alfa' submarine, which is only capable of carrying 21 weapons (torpedos, missiles and mines combined) total. Again, not your fault. If you want to edit your last post (to either reduce the number of missiles they fire so that they will have more torpedos, or turn them into dedicated missile platforms), that's fine. Will respond to them IC once they've moved into missile range and fired.

OOC: Damm, I'll need to get new attack subs. I've edited my post as far as my submarines are concerned. Its likely that my fighters are going to reach your fleet first as they are have to cover roughly the same distance but the F-35s are obviously faster. As for the distances, I'm sure that the area is supposed to be about the size of the falkland islands so there isn't going to be much distance between us. I can't really add more that that as I have no experiance in RPing carrier strikes.

I launched about 60 or so missiles. And since (Though i haven't really said it yet) we are using virtually the same ships then it would be the same missiles (to lazy to look back at all the names, only Harpoon and Tomahawk come to mind right now)

And yes, I am using the 48s. Responding with 50s though eh? Your gonna have to accept taht they quite possibly won't penatrate or reach my subs in time because they are so small. But, they will do damage no doubt.

And since your planes are really far away, then my fighters will just lurk above my fleet until your fighters leave your SAM range. and engage them in between our defenses.

Osea, The Alfa is a good sub, no doubt, but its abilities of stalking and weapons are limited. American subs more than often would stalk them for days without the RUssans knowing it. The Alfa's advantage though is the titanium armour which allows it to go deep and be well protected from lighter torpedos. Use that when your subs get close.

IC:
With the Admiral likely dead on the carrier, Captain Joshua Halloway on the Redemption, was now in command. He was alerted the moment the enemy missiles were launched and ordered an immediate reverse in course to protect the remaining part of the Fleet in the area. His orders were followed clearly by the rest of the fleet as they sped away at top speed to avoid being hit. The fighters engaged and destroyed about 15 before turning off to the enemy fighters now closing, and another 35 were destroyed by the defensive missiles. 7 more were destroyed by the closer range missiles and 4 more were destroyed by the vulcans on the ships. 2 destroyers and 3 frigates were hit by the missiles. A Destroyer and a Frigate had both taken 2 hits. The last 3 missiles had been diverted by the flak fire. The Frigate was stopped cold and after a few seconds of complete silence a large explosion ripped through the silence. In seconds, the frigate been torn in 2 and now was sinking into the ocean, most of its crew on the many large pieces of the ship floating in the sea, waiting for a rescue.

For the subs, the story was similar, but they were certain that they would take several of the Salzland ships with them. The first sub, Radiance, detected the copters had dropped torpedos and were now homing in on the subs location. The captan waited for a few more seconds.
"Are our torpedos in range to do the job themselves?"
"We're on the border of that sir, we can't tell if they will make it all the way by themselves or not."
"We'll have to take that chance, cut the wire and dive, dive into teh ravine below and move as quietly as possible to the fleet. If those torps catch onto us, then run like hell. We need to make themexpend al lthe fuel it can."
"Aye Sir!"
As they dived, the mk 50s closed in, but after diving into a ravine and moving through it, the torpedos faltered and simply circled looking for it, not knowing that it was hiding under some rocks fartehr away.

Onboard the Oracle, they to detected the torps but were clearly out of the range for their missiles to follow their intended target all the way. The wires were cut and the missiles on their own to destroy whatever ship they came about.
Th Oracles fate was different than the Radiance's though, after firing its torpedos, other helos had discovered ts location and had dropped several torps. It to, dived into the ravine, but the slower ereaction of the captain, and the generally less deep area of the ravine partion didn't fool the torps. He decided to make run for it and bolt ed donw the length of the ravine, making lots of noise. The captain didn't want his fellows subs to be discovered by his mistake, so he went in the otehr direction, making enough sound to attract any sub or torpedo around. which it did. The first mk 50 that was after it hit some of its wake and was knocked off into the ravine's wall, destroying another, farther off one as it slowly crumbled on top of it, but not before letting one through, which struke the Oracle on the rear, hitting one of the tails and severely damaging the screw and the steering. Water was taken in from the shockwave opening a hole, though it was sealed up by a repair team and the water pumped out. The noise it gave off was immense, and though it could still move, it was going at a max speed of 8 knots before steering became almost impossible and the sonar would be completely unusable due to the noise.

The final sihp, noticing the Salzland fleet hadn't reponded to its launch, kept the wires going, until they entered the desired range (Can't remember now, probably should take out my SSN book now) and prepared another launch. Once they realized that this was the last shots they would get off, They decided to make it count an raised to a higher depth, almost suicide a the now incredibly close range of 16,000 yards and fired off several tomahawks and quickly fired torpedos after to maximize the damage.

OOC: Lorraine, my subs are not actual Alfas but subs that I bought off someone else who copied and aparently mangled the Alfas stats for his subs. I will keep what you said about the armour in mind. Salzland, I have been designing ships in my own storefront. I would really appreciate it if you could check my designs to make sure they are alright. I have a link to that storefront in my signature.

My dad's been needing the computer too much for me to get on here. Assume my forces stay back bombarding from afar, and then retreat once any sizeable forces comes after me. Really sorry. Hoping I'll have more chances to get on with my dad finishing my moms site. Oh well...
By the way, could I perhaps use all of your names in a book I'm going to write at some point? If you agree, could you let me know, and send your answer to my email: Dai@can-da.com No spam please!
