THIS IS NOW CLOSED
I'm currently looking for new nations who are interested in joining a practice war with me. This war will have no effect on your nation once it's over, and exists for the sole purpose of introducing you to Nationstates warfare and battlefield RP. It will also help you gain experience commanding troops, developing tactics, organizing armies, enchanicing your RP ability, and many other things. If you are interested, all you are required to do is post below.

Very surprising! I though there would be a swarm from the new nations.

Falk, you waited ten minutes. That's not going to bring in anybody. And besides, no offence, but you're not that experienced yourself. Nor am I, but meh.

OOC: Yea, good point about the time. I guess I got a little impaitent. Oh well, guess it happens, lol.
If I am considered a new nation, then Heck Yeah!

Sorry, but even though I have fewer posts than you, I've already developed myself a whole tech ladder.
I'm actually working on my own "not so experienced" point-of-view guide to Future Tech nations. The idea would be to demonstrate the right and wrong ways to introduce yourself (First Contact Thread), how to build a military (without simply copy and pasting from Wookiepedia or Halopedia), that sort of thing.
I'm getting sick of new FT nations making first contact threads with a body of:
"The Starship Enterprise flew through space. Captain Skywalker broadcasted a message to anyone that the Nation of "" was looking to make contact with anyone interested."
(Exaggerated, but the point is the same.)
ANYWAY, on-topic -- good luck with your thing, Falkasia.

As I have not yet had any experiance fighting wars, would it be possible for me to join?

Possibly. I'll add you to the list.

I'm barely a new player but I haven't actualy fought in any wars yet. Maybe I could have a go?

I've taken a look at our nations stat's on Nseconomy and I've noticed that I have a size advatage. If the reason why your answer to me joining was "possibly" is because you think I might use a ridiculously large force and end up wreaking the thread, I promise that I will wait untill all players involved have done their ORBATs and make sure my force is of similer size to everyone elses.

This sounds fun! Can I join?

I'll join. Haven't ever fought a war without people just throwing WMDs at each other. Sounds kind of like fun :D

I'll join, I've had the same problem as Heirosoloa, but uhh.. can we have some politics involved?

OOC: Hey, sorry about not getting back to you guys sooner. Just got my computer back from the shop. You're all accepted, and this thread is now closed. Oh, and Osea, taht was pretty much why I said possibly. I appreciate your willingness to downsize though.
Considering the large amount of nations we have involved, I may consider either doing teams, or taking a few nations at a time and warring with them. That way, all of you get an equal amount of treatment. Tell me what you guys/gals think!
Teams would be good. I have an idea for a scenario.
There is a pretty large island that these two alliances have laid claim to. They both have military presences on the island (I say the same amount of troops, but with diffrerent equipment mixed in). The island has mixed terrain of desert, grassland, forest, mountain, coastal, and hills. Each team has one fortified base on either side of the island. Each team also has some naval support. When war breaks out, the teams can coordinate via Telegram, and make it an entire campaign. Whoever captures the enemy base wins.
That good?

I have no problem with doing it as teams.

I like teams idea
This idea sounds good to me, also because of different terrains it will be good for different practices. Maybe people can be saying what their country's terrain is like so that it can be said what their soldiers would be normally more used to?
If everyones armies are standard size that makes it the same chance for everyone to win, it's fairer that way because then biger nations don't automatically have advantages.
Although I know I don't know actually what size my army would be unstandardised :p
Falkasia

Yea, that sounds good.

03-12-2008, 00:39
I like the idea. How many of each units are we going to use. What kind of units are we using to?
Just more of my ideas of classification:
Infantry: Maybe 35,000 each?
Armor: Light Tanks, Medium Tanks, MB Tanks. And the Troop Transports and APCs.
Air: Maybe 50 planes per side. Air power can really dampen the infantry favoring general (i.e. me). But, helicopters I think are great.
Naval: A carrier group each alliance: A carrier, 5 cruisers, 5 destroyers, 10 frigates. Appoint someone your admiral.
I don't really know- probably horrible. You can only have 3,000 vehicles of any kind. So, a blanced would be 500 MB tanks, 500 APCs, 500 Troop Transports (Humvee), 500 attack helis, 500 gunships (attack helis able to move a squad or to), and 500 transport helis. Depends on your style.
Just shoot me down.
Falkasia
03-12-2008, 03:37
Maybe, although I don't know. Plan for the war to start tommorrow. I'll have time then.
-Lorraine-
03-12-2008, 03:41
35,000 sounds good.
Armour sounds good. 3,000 vehicles are good for a training battle like this.
Navy won't be as important, but in order to train us, we will have to use it a bit.
Overall I think its very reasonable. this way we can develop a good style, and keep fairness.
I realize I have been quite inactive for awhile (Sorry again Falk, leaving you to manage the store on your own) but I would be willing to help out. I see that it is closed, so I wont apply for helping ppl as a player :) This is my view of it: (rules of weapons, etc)
NO WMDs! (That includes: gas, poison, infectious diseases, nukes, bio-chemical warfare, etc)
The weapons cannot be from space. You can't just glass the other teams base from orbit with a giant plasma cannon the size of the moon. I'm sorry, but that is greatly looked down upon.
Only modern weapons. You can't have massive battle-walkers, that are living creatures in their own way rise up out of the ground and start making the island into their new home by using ppl as fertilizer. No, I'm not that sick, I saw it in Battle of the Worlds. A movie.
No cheap weapons, like a motorcycle with a howitzer on it that goes 400 mph.
REALISM! You can't have someone take an entire MG clip right in the head, then lift up a howitzer and blast the enemy.
No super guns. They just ruin the tactical situation, because if you can destroy the enemy on the other side of the world with a giant gun, then why write?
And finally, respect eachother. If someone GodMods (Like what I said in the Realism part) then tell them that in NICE words! Don't go "You mother****ing B*****d! You f****ing Godmoded!" *Bleeped for extreme profanity*
These are suggested rules, and Falk has the final say in this with input from you guys. I beleive the numbers are good, although I suggest adding a submarine to the fleet. They are extremely useful. I also suggest that your base is not a nation in and of itself. You have to bring supplies in, so where will they come from, and how will you get them to the base? The subs would be useful for that :D Wether bringing the resources, or impeding them. Although, about 3-4 subs can't do too much damage in this day and age when your opponent has sub killing equipment. I suggest that nations can also share equipment, if they so wish.
I would like to act as a mod of sorts, although my attendance may be spotty, or perhaps a small colony that my nation absorbed into Daiwiz? It would be a small force, mostly like a partisan, guerrilla force. Army for hire as well :) Aaahh, the joys of constantly swapping sides when you are allowed to. I realize this is closed, so I won't be heartbroken. I congratulate all of you on taking this step to learning much about this game. Big congrats to you Falk! :D
Ps: Sorry for the size of the message. Had to get all of my two cents in here hoping that to prevent the way many roleplays go.

Falkasia

Its fine Daiwiz. As you're almost, if not equally experienced as I am, I amy put you on the opposing team so each has a teacher dedicated to it. After all, one teacher/trainer for around 7 nations is simply insane.
As for the rules you suggested. They're excellent, and will be inabled immediately. As for the troop numbers, it sounds good, although I'll have everything finalized by tommorrow.
*great big grin*
Thank you for your vote of confidence! I RP more like a writer, and a tactician, so it may get confusing at times as I try to fit about 3-4 pages of writing into a couple paragraphs lol. Now...What names shall I use as my main characters? Also, I suggest we begin determining teams.
Crystalliniah
04-12-2008, 00:28
I don't mind who's team I am on :)
By the way, I know this training war is standardised but is there a way for me to be calculating my normal army size, because I would like to be knowing how to do this.
Oscar Wildes Minions
04-12-2008, 00:45
Could I join? I would just like more air power. Air and armor is my forte for RTS games, and the low air numbers and high infantry are a turn off. Foot soldiers, to me became obsolete around the time of the machine gun except in certain (preferably air-related) roles like paratroops or specialists. I like bombers.;)
Falkasia
04-12-2008, 01:25
Sorry, it's closed. However, once I clear this up and get it finsihed, I'll do round two. You can join then. Again, my apologies.
Speaking of which, the main thread is going up momentarily.

04-12-2008, 02:43
oh, 'n' how 'bout some artillery? We have any of that?
And is someone gonna draw a map, or should I?
Falkasia
04-12-2008, 02:53
I'm not good with making maps. As for artillery, just add it to your make-up/ force composition. In about 10-20 minutes, I'm gonna get the thread up.
Yay lol. Artillery can be lets say....500 peices? This excludes infantry guns. I will add the rest of my opinion after school.
-Lorraine-
04-12-2008, 22:44
I think 500 is a bit much. something a bit less.
Falkasia
04-12-2008, 23:32
100, including Infantry Howitzers, Towed Guns, and Self-Propelled Guns. This number does not include however, light artillery, such as mortars or hand-held grenade launchers.

Still not completed. Getting on it right now.
What about our vehicle deployments? Where do we put those?

Do that in the main thread once I finish the main background.

05-12-2008, 17:52
I found it but i'm stuck on the first part. How do i know what I will be needing, and what to post on my ORBAT thinggy??
Falkasia
05-12-2008, 23:11
Well, just put down the stuff you want your nation to use. Are you Russian in origin, or more like the West? It's all up to you. The best ORBATs are well-rounded, consisting of troops, vehicles, aircraft, and everything else.
Agreed with Falk. Sorry for not getting on for almost two days lol....atleast, I think it's been two days...Dunno. Anyways, haven't had much chance to use the computer.
example ORBAT:
The great nation of bubbly noodles shall provide:
Ground force:
30,000 Troops
200 Tanks
100 APCs
30 Howitzers...etc....
Then say the weapons, ie...
Tanks:
M1a1 Abrams
M4A3 APCs
Infantry:
G36 assault rifle
MP5 SMG....etc. Thats basically an example. For the navy and airforce you say the number of every vehicle you send. So, 1 Ark Angel class carrier, etc.
I will begin to post what is needed. I suggest you all save this, since this will become the OOC thread, where all the stuff that is not said as the RPing characters is said. IE, questions, problems with people, etc. You can still include an OOC in your posts though. Does this make sense? Cause I don't think it does...
Falkasia
05-12-2008, 23:27
Yea, but if you do do OOC in the war thread, make sure it's also accompanied by an IC Post as well.
Heirosoloa
06-12-2008, 17:04
So do we each have an equal number of troops? If so, how many?
Sorry for being slightly inactive :]
Falkasia
06-12-2008, 17:47
OOC: No. Like I said, the ORBAT Composition is up to you. It's how you fight wars, not how your opponents do. But if you have more infnatry, make it fair by having less vehicles and equipment.
Yep. I maxed out my vehicles, but only have roughly 17000 infantry, excluding support units, and staff. Falk, this is all OOC :D
Crystalliniah
07-12-2008, 19:27
very stupid question but how do i arrive? do i just be turning up, or something?
Falkasia
07-12-2008, 20:29
Yea, just arrive however you'd like. Have a colony already on the island like I did, arrive my sea, whatever. It's all up to you.
What Falk said. I sent a convoy of military ships, and military forces to the island to assist in the defence of the small colony there, since my nation realizes that there are too many nations in such a small area to not clash.
