The HMS Raven sailed towards New Eng land it was a Cruiser some three hundred meters in length. It was alone, there was no question that it was not an invasion fleet, the commonwealth navy were not stupid as the ship could look after itself but they didn't want to cause a fight. They had quite intentionally made the ship very visible to radar by the use of tin foil rapped around the forward guns. The three guns were the only a number of the nine 23 inch guns the ship sported.

“They will see us?” a short almost human looking desert fox asked.
“They should” the sea knight replied (captain), she was a large wolf like creature.
“OK”
“Look we can run.” said the fox's second an odd creature, she was a teerie.
The Teerie were an oddity to the commonwealth, they were tall and skinny skunk like creatures, green where they should be black. They were also the oldest of the peoples that made up the commonwealth.
“I think they have seen us, I have a transmission.” came a shout from one of the wolf like crew.
“English? What does it say” shouted the sea knight.

It was only a matter of time before the New English Coast Guard caught attention to the foreign ship approaching its waters. An official message was squawking from the radio, it said,
"Attention unknown ship. You have entered New English waters. What is your purpose?"

The sea knight looked to her communications officer and said tell them this.
A message was sent it read this:
"The is the ship of the Royal Commonwealth of Cal, Sae and Emass fleet the HMS Raven. We wish you no harm, we carry emissaries from our nations to yours. Our forward guns are only raised as other wise we would not very visible so that we would be seen. We will lower them once you have visible contact as we know this ship and it's class are very difficult to see with radar.

We are a non-human people and have in the past suffered because of this, so travel with caution. Please forgive our caution, it is not meant as a show of force

Sea Lord Simian's English was not the best, well it was her third language, the diplomats were much better at it. How ever it was her ship so she had every right to make contact no matter how bad her English was.

The sea knight looked to her communications officer and said tell them this.

It is recommended that you fire signal flares to ease our search for you. We should be around your area in around half an hour.

We will be looking for documentation of your diplomatic status before further measures can be taken. This is Captain Paul Rubens."

After this, the Virginia sped over to the general location of the foreign vessel, looking for a sign of these non human diplomats.

The Raven kept it's forward guns raise to aid in it's detection and also raised it's forward axillary radar mast with an extra roll of tin foil to make it self even more radar visible. After it picked up the Virginia on radar..well a good time after so as not to be insulting.

"Flares?" asked one of the crew.
"Are they in visual range?" Simian asked.
"Well they should be able to see them."
"Aye"
The low lying Cruiser fired off a red flare and fired one a minute until they were sure the Virginia had them in visual. They were making it very clear they were not an aggressive ship, if they were the Virginia would be no match for them.

The emissaries were not entirely sure what they were meant to have when it came to paperwork, they had their orders from the monarchs/president* of the commonwealth. Neither of them were sure as to what else they were meant to have. Well that and the notification from prime minister Eye Salator en that they were allowed to speak for the commonwealth in this matter.

The Virginia neared closer and closer to the Raven. Captain Rubens saw the flares, which meant that they were close. It was around one in the morning. Spot lights were turned on, shining at the foreigners. The Captain picked up the intercom, it was switched so that the exterior speakers could broadcast his message. He then said,

"Attention foreign vessel, this is the captain of the Virginia. We will not attack. However we need you to comply with our requests. Please leave your engine on idle. We're not going anywhere for a long time. We will be boarding your ship. Please get all of your paperwork and other information ready. This includes diplomatic orders. This will take a while and I think that I am speaking for the both of us when I say that there are better things to do and that we would like for this to be done as quickly as possible."

The Virginia began to turn to face the port side of the boat and inch its way closer and closer to it.

Yue turned to Tianian and asked "What now?"
Lue Tianian kn, the desert fox replied "We go with the flow, they must click we are diplomats"
"I hope your right, no weapons?" Yue replied, she was the teerie.
"well other than what you have built in, they can't expect you not to have that, god I wish I had that."
Yue smiled "Well our ancestors did gift my people well"
Though a teerie Yue was a skunk under it all and had the abilities of one though oddly had no sent. Even humans noticed at a subliminal level the lack of smell, but if in trouble she could cause an extremely unpleasant, well more eye watering, incapacitating stench.

The HMS Raven's crew were complying, but this was part of the fleet, so could only do so far. It was commonwealth sovereign territory. They put down a dock, the ship dwarfed the Virginia and the crew had a lot of respect for the smaller ship, they had guts. Sea Knight Simian walked down to the dock as did the two diplomats, there was no way a member of the commonwealth fleet would allow itself to be boarded and search like a common merchant ship. For one thing a lot of the ship was classified and there was the whole insult thing.

Sea Knight Simian and the diplomats hoped to explain this to the coast guard. This was a naval vessel no normal ship, heck it's three nuclear reactors might suggest it was no normal vessel. But they had agreed to try and keep things civil, a search was a non-starer, but a quiet word and a drink might save an incident.

The Virginia eased slowly up to the Raven. They were about side by side, with only several inches of water separating them. Some coastguardsmen took rope and lashed the gunnels together, under the captain's orders. The captain, a tall, slightly big man with brown hair and moustache, walked out was. He was wearing his navy blue dress uniform, the ranks said that he was a captain but the medals and ribbons showed that he served New England proudly.On his waist, a pistol. Every coastguardsman was assigned one. He said, in a loud booming voice, standing towards the edge of his boat,
"I am Captain Paul Rubens with the New English Coast Guard. I would like to see the captain of this ship and the 'diplomats' right here before we board your vessel."

OoC: Well I was on crack or something... meters are not feet... not at all...

"I am Sea Knight Simian of the commonwealth fleet" came a reply from a large formidable female wolf like creature. She wore the a blue jacket as well and a Claymore on her back. She was flanked by members of the Saeie marines, not that the ship carried many. But they were highly trained and skilled, this was sovereign territory after all, but they had put up with the boarding so far to avoid incident.
"Please explain to me what you are thinking boarding a member of the Commonwealth fleet?" She shouted.
"Please there has been a mis-understanding, we can perhaps talk this over, over a drink perhaps" Tianian said.
"I am Lue Tianian kn emissary of the commonwealth" continued, she was short and some what less intimidating than the large, some what peeved sea knight.
"This is Yue my second" she further indicating the odd green creature, who smiled and gave a wave.
It was very clear that Paul had never seen such creatures, but in truth this was the first time any of them had seen a human in person....they smelt odd.

BTW a 300 foot ship with 23 inch guns...how? I mean it would sink when you put them on board never mind firing them.

It was interesting in seeing these strange creature. I mean, they were interesting and... odd. However, Paul Rubens was not a biologist, nor a diplomat. He just wanted to get things done. However the mere thought of drinking while on duty, he just wondered exactly how professional these people actually are.

"No drinks. I don't drink while on duty.", he replied, "What's going to happen is that I'll stay here. My men will remain on my ship.

What I need to do is to check over your diplomatic papers.", he said to Lue and Yue, "I will have to make some calls and see if they will be approved. After that, we will have to figure out where this ship and everything will go. can we talk this over at the captain's quarters or somewhere more private?"

Tianian smiled "That should not be a problem, we have rooms on board I believe if our Sea Knight will allow us."
"Yes there, see them to the reception room" Simian fumed, it was clear she was not happy turning her glare to one of the marines. Letting a part of the fleet be boarded, this had better be worth it, half of her wanted to destroy the coast guard vessel just so no one knew what she had allowed to happen.

Paul and the two diplomats were escorted to a rather pleasant wood paneled room with a large table in the middle of it. There was a bowl of fruit and various nibbles and a large jug of wine.

Both the diplomats produce what paperwork they had, the orders and the letter authorising them to act from the PM. What else were they meant to have? It was not like anyone could hijack one of the fleet to turn up in.

Lue smiled "Please call me Tianian, it is my given name, my people's names are around back wards, well all vulpine names are in the commonwealth. You see in our native language we read right to left, but Calie is read from left to right we never reverse our own names, I suppose it is a habit and a rebellion against the rest"

Yeu smiled "Well we read bottom to top...so how should I pronounce my name?...wine?"
She poured herself and Tianian a glass, then asked "Where are my manners do you wish fruit juice or water...I think they have 'coffee' but I would not council you to have tea it is vial. As for communications, they will link you into what ever you want."

"Sorry we are diplomats so having a little wine is sometimes helpful, and they have poured out the good stuff tonight. No point letting it go to waste." Tianian said smiling.

"Help your self to the food, the locust tails are rather nice." Yeu said as she picked up and swallowed one on the deep fried battered locust tails after dipping it in some unknown green substance.

New England's intelligence had, had a chance to look at the commonwealth's military. They had a very large navy and a sizeable air force but a very small army. They were no threat to them, an invasion would be repelled in hours. How ever an attack on the commonwealth would face the Militia, Territorial and Tribal forces they had figured fighting an army was one thing. But the MTTF would cause an extremely large number of deaths, these people knew the land and were fighting for their homeland...then there were cal's allies.

It was interesting, but they would have to get a force past the navy, but would be an interesting war game.

"Thank you very much, but honestly, I'm fine", he replied, "However, what I want to do is to go and call the State Department. Your credentials do seem to be legit. They seem to at least. However, I need to call the Department to verify it all. I have my own phone to do this with."

On Captain Rubens's belt was a cell phone holster. He pulled it out. The phone looked aged. It was dark green, clunky, there was a massive antenna sticking out of it. It was not the most desirable phone and very few young adults would want to text their friends on it. This, however, was the emergency satellite phone that was issued to him. Despot it's blaitent ugliness, it was the most reliable and secure satellite phone that the government could give him.

Rubens had to remember the number to call. It was not in his emergency contacts. He dialed the number.

"Hello... hello", he said, "This is Captain Paul Rubens with the Coast Guard. ... No, this isn't about illegal immigrants. We have a diplomatic situation regarding a foreign nation. I need to be patched into Secretary Kennedy's line immediately. ... Yes, I know that it is one thirty in the morning. ... Can you wake her up then? ... Can you connect me to the closest person to he that is actually awake? ... Well then do it then.

Hi, I'm Captain Paul Rubens of the NECGC Virginia, there is a diplomatic situation where I am and immediate action needs to be taken. ... What happened was that at twenty three thirty seven we caught the sight of a foreign military vessel operating in New English waters southeast of Virginia. They said that they were carrying diplomats. I didn't want to attack a ship with diplomats. I took this with a grain of salt, however. This appears to be true, they do have diplomatic papers. I need you to verify this for me. ... Yes I can wait. ... Yeah, I can do that. Their nation is called the Kingdoms of the Cal. Apparently their nation is populated by non humans. Yes, they are intelligent. The diplomats' names are Lue Tinian and Yue. ... There is no first, er, personal name on the second. ... One's a fox and the other is a skunk. ... I just want to get me work done, man. ... ... ... It does match then. ... Well that was the easiest part. Now, what do we do with them, now? ... I know that was a good question. ... Well, they are in a military vessel. ... Norfolk will be the closest one. ... OK, we'll go there then. ... I would suggest an escort. ... OK, that's good. I would say that they're set. Yes, today sounds good then. Mmmm bye."

He hung up the phone and put it in his holster. He turned to the diplomats and said,
"Your credentials have been accepted. What we need to do now is get the rest done. What is going to happen is that we will be going to be going to Virginia. The naval base in Norfolk will be the closest one there. What is going to happen is that this ship will be escorted by his ship and several naval vessels to Norfolk where it will dock and be protected. Meanwhile, you two will be picked up by helicopter also to Norfolk. The government will arrange hotel rooms for you for the night. There, you will meet with Secretary of State Samantha Kennedy where anything that you wish to discuss will... be discussed. Do you understand this all?"

Yue smiled "I think that will be fine, though we should leave for a moment" her tail twitched.
Paul joined her on the deck and gave her a curious look.
"You have to understand that jug of wine will be drunk by her, she has been in a crash and needs more than a little drink to get in one.

I don't blame her I have been and have done the training, I can see why, three hours in the sea...anyway I have to get our stuff." Yeu completed with a shrug and left at a trot.

Sea knight Simian joined Captain Rubens and smiled "Diplomats what can you do, sorry the room was bugged, I heard everything" she smiled.
"I don't like anything going on, on my ship I don't know about. I doubt you would either.

Sorry for my previous conduct. I believe that you will understand I have to look after my ship but I am impressed by your crew. To board a ship this size when we could easily have sunk you, that takes guts" the wolf finished with a smile.

"Just a note, watch yeu, she is a teerie, they seem harmless but they don't think of them as. They have a civilisation that is more than three thousand years old. You don't manage that by being idiots." she ended and walked off.

Paul walked off back onto his own ship. He radioed the base. Ships would be arriving soon. A helicopter, that would be coming sooner. Nothing that was crucial would have been head anyways. He walked over to the deck and took a smoke. This was going to take a while.

Simian smiled, her ship could look after it self and her crew needed shore leave.

Yue and a some what drunk Tianian were on deck, waiting for the chopper.

The Raven was detecting a number of of ships, their radar was reaching far inland. Tianian smiled, the fleet were keeping an eye on them selves, the helicopter pad was the roof of the real pad that was occupied by a pict VToL fighter boomer.

The Calie were friendly but not stupid.

A Coast Guard helicopter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Uscgdolphin.jpg) began to make it's rounds over to the ship. On the Raven's radio, a squawking was heard,
"This is the New England Coast Guard. We are requesting permission to land on your ship."

Yue smiled and walked to the back of the ship, the top of the hanger would do the job. She knew below here was a fully armed and fueled Pict fighter bomber. She had picked up her bag and Tianian's. She had killed the jug of wine, she was staggering.

Yue smiled after spending three hours in the sea after getting out of one of these things...she had time for her even having the guts to get into one.

The seafur waved down the helicopter and Tianian reluctantly boarded it. Yeu smiled and said "Up and away". The shorter this was the better, she handed Tianian a hip flask.

The helicopter took off. The ride was, well it was as bumpy as any helicopter ride would be. Aside from the pilot, there were two other coastguardsmen, both assigned with pistols, to be guards for the diplomats. This would take some time, however a helicopter ride was the fastest way to get from point A to point B.

Tianian threw her guts, helicopters were very far down her list of travail. But she tried to hold on.

Yeu smiled, she was a teerie and making one of them sick was a challenge. She waited for the landing, both of the diplomats were 'armed' with ceremonial weapons. In her case it was to curved daggers in Tianian case it was a single curved sword.

I mean they had guns, what the calie had were of no threat.

The helicopter flew past the ocean, going over the beaches of Virginia Beach, Newport News, and Norfolk and passing oer the natural harbor known as Hampton Roads. The pilot said,
"Tyrone, you better clean that up."

He later spoke into his radio, talking about landing permission and guards. The helicopter flew into the downtown of the city of Norfolk, swiftly finding the Sheraton hotel and slowly, carefully, making a landing at its helipad. The helicopter landed, and one of the guards, a tall, big, Asian man, got out, leaving the pilot and a big black man remaining. They were told to get off of the helicopter as it began to elevate away.

Yeu took Tianian off the helicopter. Yeu smiled, as distractions when Tianian throwing up worked Yeu knew what was going on. They were not dealing with a major threat of a nation, she had clicked that but she would observe.

But from the looks of it a decent trading link could be set up it they were willing.

A man in a suit jacket came into the windy roof from the door and walked up to the foreign creatures and paused a bit, saying,
"I'm Ryan Schmidt, manager of the Sheraton Waterside hotel in Norfolk. I am here to show you the place and show you where your rooms are. Shall I lead the way?"

"Fine for her, but do you have a bar?" Yeu asked and continued "Tianian needs a sleep, I think it would be best put into a bed."

Yeu looked at the luggage, no great hurry on that. Yeu smiled she had the chips in her pocket and was in hope of a drink. Heck if they got them, they would have no idea what to do with them...they were at least five years behind.

"I'm sorry, but it closes at one. There might be some other places out in the city that were open.", the aging white guy said, "I'll help take your stuff if you want me to."

"No problem" Yeu smiled.
She had a bottle of inteer wishy with her, puting Tianian was no issue.

Yue figured sleeping near Tianian was a good idea. Some one had to.

She woke at dawn, as did Tianian and went in search of breakfast.
