Speech by Trafican and Roenese Minister of Infrastructure, Degbe Hhouslee

"...and restructure ourselves, as to be a force of the people of this nation and to ward off the onsets of the western world from breaking with the schliserian ideals. We shall work to reorganize the committees and..."

Among the crowd
"Did you speak to Lhlkij?" asked the man wrapped in the rough cloth, his face scruffed and his stance meager.
"mmm." The other man nodded a yes, as he stared at Hhouslee; "They want to do more convincing, eh? Its been 3 months and i havent seen a thing, i fell like no one has moved, all they have done is talk, i havent had consistent electricity or plumbing out on the Dokbesh."
"No. No. Nothing." the other replied; "Shuik, what is it that we want?"
The average built man,Shuik, stood at eye level from the rough clothed one, Lisdad, and quietly spoke; "We want to change back to what it was, we want what they promised us, what they began giving us. We cannot let it sink away, they began to move us their but they lost hold of it and they cant be allowed to be trusted withgetting the job done anymore. Its time we had start mass calling for the new groups."
Lisdad's mouth was slightly Ajar as he hung over Shuik's words, but Schuik was intent on watching Hhouslee's every word.
"Yes. Later, at 5KL Gravenattee" Lilsdad said.
Shuik stood their, staring off, not blinking or glancing over at the sound of the words.
Lilsdad walked away, with a monotone face on, assured that Shuik had, regardless, understood.

Hhouslee on stage
"...and let us not forget or friends and our helpers. Let us not forget that we must strive to be known and respected. That the democracies of the world shall never push us down. Schliserians, Traficans, Roenese; this is what we stand here today, for..."

Shuik walked away, his face down at the fround, where old pavement had transformed into pebbles and dirt, spreading the width and length of the entire square.

Parliament Tower, Government Center, Miraculo

Head of the Parliament, Denzigo Uastii, addresses the councilmen:
" We shall hold referendum in the coming weeks. The rebuilding and reorganization of the industries, and the reopening of many of the manufacturers, shall commence in accomplished, and timely manners. Let the citizens return to their wages. We shall attempt the organization of Corps to rebuild the utilities to Miraculo, then expand to the outlying towns and islands. 3 Months since the Asyuk Alaiara Islands War, and we have sufficed the money to carry out plans to restructure Trafica and Roen. President Toccuilq shall speek on the issue later today. The global economy remains weak but Trafica and Roen will institute a T&R FIRST order to give Trafican and Roenese citizens, along with the allies, a structured system that shall be free of the global tumbles. The police force shall soon be reinforced and crime that has run rampant shall be punished and rights management can resume."

He finished his speech, delievered in an over-sized, overly-echoed hall of the Councilors of the Trafica and Roen Parliament. The ruling Laborer's Socialist Party of Trafica and Roen, and the second-hand Communist Party of Trafica and Roen Nationalists, who all political power in Trafica and Roen, strained to regather and strengthen their nation after the devastation of the AAI War and the Isolation and lack of international aide that followed.

Government Square
Outside the crowd was small and the cheers limited as a few, still hopeful for the current regime, listened on.

At the end of the table, Moschu T' Gevauri stood up, a brute of a man with a beard and mustache in full brown color.
"We know their is gaining opposition, especially hear at the heart, in the capital."
"Since the war, the resources pured into Asyuk Aliara and the restructuring, ewe just havent had the Forces at strong enough power to control the streets." said the man at the right side of the table.
T' Gevauri answered with a clearing of the throat and a dusty voice; "End it, beofre the President and the Party must know, crush it as we would. It has been too long now and they know that wee have been weakened. Remind them we still watch thuis nation and we control every spot of it." he grunted
"Remind them who we are." he added; "Remind them who they are."

OOC: i am just going to let it roll out and see where it goes; the down low is that Trafica and Roen had socialist revolution back in the 70s and starting around 2000 the regime began to become more corrupt and isolationist, and the Communist Party instituted a more powerful police force that keeps strict watch on the citizens and allied itself with fascist nations in the region of Schliseria. But over this past summer Trafica and Roen went to war with Ne Behemes and T&R was devastated, so 3 months later we are left with this.

Shuik walked down the alley towards the rusty metal door. He turned to look up at the lampost, still off at 1 a.m. Just 4 monts ago the he never would have been able to be wandering the streets this late, past midnight curfew, but with the Forces in a mess, he could do a little more these days.
He opened the door and walked down the dusty hallway to an open door. He began to hear muffled voices. In the doorway a single exposed lightbulb was on, hanging from the ceiling. Some power. He hadnt seen much lately.
A carpet like poster stood above a doorway, from which the voices came. It was marked with the letters VUFR in Trafican and Roenese colors. "Veir Unte
she Ferocer Rheindalt" is what it stood for. Remember where you come from.
He walked into the room, musty and dim, where men bustled about and talked in demanding tones. No one turned to greet him or even notice his entrance. He looked for someone he knew. He spotted someone out of the corner of his eye and walked over.
"Dhal?" he said
"Shuik!" the fat-bellied man said. "he quickly put his arm around Shuik's back and turned him towards the direction from which he came, walking hastily. His voice was excited and serious, "So you have come now, good good, how is home, eh?"
"fin-"
"alright, so we gonna get these clowns together, that over there is Thause" he pointed to a brisk and enthusiastic man who wore a jacket and stood on a chair addressing a small crowd. "Know him, hes gonna help it, hes gonna be your guy."
"What are we doing Dhal i gotta know this is gonna be organized and together, not like the last group a few weeks ago"
"It is, it is Shuik. Lisdad told you huh? He'll be round, we just gotta get this party together." he turned away from Shuik and bellowed, "Alright fellas, eh, eh! Lets go! eh! eh!" and the commotion grew quickly but then stopped and slowed at the sight of the command. "My good friend over here, has so reminded me of the importance of this meeting. We may not have much time left before the Forces strengthen back to their normal power, so we gotta get together now."

Thause was pleased and he gestured towards Dhal that he could take a seat. Thause spoke in a convinving voice but made sure not to becom so empassioned, so soon. "Men and women, are numbers are getting steady and we now have 16,000 men to join us. I expect the arrival soon of someone i do not know. Someone who is here to give us information, so that we may start to form ourselves and a plan to reinstate the values that we fought for and won so long ago. Values that our heores have forgotten. They have fallen victim to corruption and they do not represent us anymore and shall never be allowed to again, though their fights were noble. Now we must regather our citizens and return the nation to its glory--BETTER!" he shouted "Gether your friends, your neighbors, your family, and you fellow workers, bring them hear, and let them join the fight to rebuild our nation!!" he demanded
The crowd cheered and rumbled into the large room with the low ceiling. Dust fell from the ceiling panels and he stepped doen from his chair, and walked over to Dhal.
Dhal spoke, "Who are we expecting Thause,"
"I dont know, Edifigir from Feroccio sent him. He had checked him out and says he will help us, but i dont know much more."
"An insider from the government, Forces, or maybe intelligence?" Dhal questioned
"I dont know but we shall find out soon enough."

OOC: Should I be the outsider or do you have that planned? If so the I'll delete this post.

Jekis Bodyski had been in Trafica and Roen for years, expecting and anticipating this fateful day. A tall, dark haired man from the AU, he had been sent by his comrades in his home nation to gain intelligence regarding the situation with the Communist government shortly after the revolution. His entire life had been spent plotting the overthrow of the system, but until now it had been without success. His chance seemed close; he could sense it in the air.

He tucked his pistol into the depths of his warm trench coat as he strode down the street with long, broad footsteps. The illuminating light of the street lamp shone on him for a fleeting moment as he passed under its glow.

With a gloved hand he knocked on the door of the building in which the men were gathered.

Jekis stepped into the darkened building with a respectful nod to the man at the door. As he entered the room he cast an ominous shadow upon those gathered there.

“My name,” he said “Is Jekis Bodyski. And I am here to help set you free.”

His gravely voice cut through the air like a blunt knife, hammering home his powerful message with simplistic, accented words.

“When the communists took over your nation in the 70s the Anarchist Unions knew that it would only cause you trouble and hardship. They sent me here to plan for the day in which the corrupt, oppressive regime could be overthrown and the true liberty of the people restored.”

“I don’t care,” he continued. “Whether you are fascist or anarchist, Christian of Atheist, rich or poor, worker or intellectual. All I care about is freedom. Freedom for you, who have been oppressed and put down by their thrice accursed regime of infamy. Freedom for you, who have been betrayed by the same institution which was once your saviour. Freedom for you who have been spat upon and dragged through the mud by the men you once called heroes. Stand with me, and it will change. Unit with me, and it will change. Fight with me, and we will bring them to the ground with such a tremble that the world will shake in fear. Remember this, my friends; it is better to die upon your feet than to live your wretched lives upon your knees.”

Thause walked to the forefront. "Step in from the doorway sir." he said. "What interests have the AU in Trafica and Roen?" he grunted, without being dergatory. "And," he contintued, "can we trust your with us?" he said, as he lifted his hand and pointed up at the flag above the doorway, the same one as the one above the outside.

Forces Sector 2.4, 1 mile from 5KL Gratenettee
Bilsy walked over to the window. Cracked, the cool air blew inside. He and his forces had been inactive for weeks, or longer. He knew taht the government had not been using the Forces to rebuild, he did not know why they were not being used. He knew he was being watched by the 6 other members of his sector's Force. He felt they knew. He couldnt live with this anymore and he had to go down there and help start something. He couldnt let the nation his father helped to build fail wuth corruption.

From the back of the room, Doler, a musky man dressed in his uniform, though he hadnt needed to in weeks, called up to him, "What are ya doing, Bil? You know we're not going out there, not tonight."
"Thats not what im thinking about" he replied
"I know." he said. But Doler didnt seem compassionate, just frustrated. "Your sick of it. But what are you gonna do. Thats just the way it is. Now stop sulking and come down and sit with us. Play some cards or read the papers, dont sulk likem a little, uhhhh" he drifted off and headed back downstairs.

Bilsy looked down at the rotten street in fron of him. The poor citry of Miraculo had become a festering slum, buzzing with crime and inviting in corruption and misery.

We can arm you, fund you, and fight with you. In their current situation the army will stand no chance against a revolution combined with an invading force. We can, united, take them.”

He smiled and took of his gloves.

“As for trust, what choice do you have? I’m offering you 1,000 troops in support of your cause. If you don’t trust me then contact the Elected Leaders of the MBAU. Trust me, brother, and your country will be free again.”

Thause held out his hand...

Jeskis took his hand and shook it firmly.

"I will report back to my leaders straight away. When you declare the revolution we will move to support you. Meanwhile I will remain in Trafica and Roen to keep an eye on the situation and assist you in any way possible."

He turned towards the door, but then turned.

"When you have taken power, what will you do?" he asked.

Thause looked at him as if looking at all the world's people. "We will restore it. We will agiain fight for the people. We will rebuild it and be able to provide for those who work to keep the country alive. Socialism is the flame of anger against injustice and the flame of hope that you can build a better world. We will go back to work and create a haven for humanity and let the workers who built this land be proud of it!"

He shook himself back into reality. "Thank you Jekis" he said, back to normal. "I believe we can count on you. "but i want you to leave with someone, someone you can trust from us." he turned and looked at Shuik and gestured with his ahnd for Shuik to come over.
Shuik did walk over, timidly but trying to hide it, knowing this was his choice to leave and do whatever he could to fight.
"Shuik. He is good and will fight with us to the end. And he knows...a lot. More then it may appear at first." he chuckled, "you may have to force it out of him but he shall be one to keep us all on track."

Jekis thanked him for his offer of comapany and nodded to Shuik. Thause's dreams of a new system struck a chord within his heart and the anarchist found himself in aggreement with the man. He felt slightly powerful in this situation, 50,000 men and women were ready to invade on his intelligence and he would help arm and orchestrate a revolution. The prospect was slightly terrifying.

"How are you armed?" he asked Shuik. "I can have weapons imported for your rebels if you so recquire."

OOC: Trafica and Roen is made up of a bunch of small islands and is located in the SE Pacific region of Schliseria which is a U-shaped region of island nation.

T' Gevauri planted a map on the table.
"We should reorganize by the 9 districts." he grumbled
"We should pinpoint where it is most stable and where it is most unstable. Based on crime and general Force efficiency since the war." inquired one man.
"Go ahead." said T' Gevauri, "but lets start weapons manufacturing on [I]Teos[I]. It is already stable and the most outlying island. It is also stable and there is not much unrest on Teos. The jobs from manufacturing will only increase their stableness and hopefully get rid of any crime or thoughts of rebellion that may be stirring in their minds."
"Yes, sir" said the man.

Shuik looked uneasy and looked back at Thause and Dhal.
Dhal laughed with his belly sticking out. "Oh, he has no rebels of his own, nor weapons." he continued smiling, "he is just a genius and he knows some people. I and Thause will communicate with the rebel positions." the word rebel rung in Dhal's ear. Dhal was not particularily philosophical but the thought of saying rebel, which he had not yet siad about their task, was strange.
"We have weapons gathered from around the city, leftovers from the war. We could always use more. but that is where the problem lies. How do we get the weapons here, in Trafica and Roen, where our government has become nearly isolationist since the war?"
Thause entered the conversation again, "Unless from the government's allies who helped it in the war; but those nations would be vbery difficult to smuggle from." he pondered.
Shuik finally spoke, "the Forces are weak, we could smuggle it in at night at one of the rocky mounts near the outlying islands. Like we say, the Forces are weak and ewe have to take advantage of tim."
Dhal looked at Thause and Jekis.

Though he had been ready to leave, he now realised there was plenty of important details to go through, and so he walked a little further into the room.

"Seeing as the forces are in disarray it seems easy to land some troops. We should capture a port first, and from there we can unload more men, weapons and tanks. Our air force can be used to bomb important enemy positions. Our full forces are at your disposa, if recquired."
Rechburg
28-11-2008, 21:38
Matt Schilling stood on the veranda of his farm, it was small only 150 acres but it was his and at one time it was bountiful with produce.
That was before the Revolution, the revolution; that was when everything went wrong.

Matt was Rechburgian by birth, he lived in Rechburg until he was 25, he had been in the special forces, a unit that even today held a special place in his heart and memory. He had been released out of the army after being severely wounded in the leg, after several months of hospitals and rehabilitation he had once again gained the full use of the leg.
He still had a slight limp, and it ached when bad weather was coming, but his body was in almost good shape now as it had been then.

After leaving the army, Matt decided to go on a very late OE, it didnt last very long, nor did he get very far.
From Rechburg he had travelled to Trafica and Roen, he had started working on an apple orchard, it was a great life he decided. The exercise invigorated his mind and helped heal the body, the relaxed friendships he made with fellow pickers was far from the close bonds he had experienced in the army.
Here the people didnt talk about guns, tactics and death; they talked about life and often about love.

It was while working on one of the orchards that he had met Lynette, she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Never one for the complications of love and romance, Matt found around her for some reason he was awkward and clumsy. She didnt mind, in fact she often laughed which made him laugh back.
They had become true friends and lovers very quickly, they were so close that Matt found it hard to believe there had been a life before his life in Trafica and Roen.

They had decided to marry 5 years ago, together they had put a deposit down on this farm and from that day Matt worked hard to make it their "heaven on earth" as Lynette often called it.
Three years ago Lynette had come bouncing into the barn, she was being totally silly and skipping and laughing about secrets.
He was used to her outbursts of silliness, it was one of the things he loved about her, the fact she wasnt afraid to let the inner child run free and wild.
Finally after he had chased her and threatened to throw her in the water trough did she tell him her secret; she was pregnant.
The shock was so great, so unexpected that he in fact fell into the trough, she tried to pull him out but instead he pulled her down into the water, there they sat laughing and giggling; two mpeople so in love.

Complications set in with the birth and 7 months from the time of the water trough experience Matt had to rush her to hospital. Lynette and the baby died, at the time he was simply told that "due to complications. both had passed away". Never one to be dismissed so lightly he had pushed and urged to find out what the complications were.

It had been several years after the revolution, and it was a period of great disillusionment. People had hoped with the revolution things would be better, instead they became so much worse. Corruption and crime were rife, Government barely worked and when it did it was only with the passing of money did the wheels of Government beauacracy turn.
It had taken much money and not a few threats for Matt to find out that Lynette had not died from complications but from the hands of a drunken surgeon.

The hospital had protected the doctor because he was the son of a Government minister, if they wanted to keep getting the meagre funds from Government they had to hide issues such as total incompetence in the hospital and its procedures.

For Months Matt sat at home on the veranda of his farm, he began drinking heavily, he drank to try and forget the happy years, and since the death of Lynette and their unborn baby there had not been happy years.
Farm prices collapsed Matt and his neighbours couldn’t get a fair price for their produce, they were forced to sell to a co-operative owned by the provincial Governor, he sold the produce over the border on hugely inflated prices; he became hugely rich while people in Trafica and Roen starved.

The neighbours gathered together one day, they had to literally drag Matt along as he had been having one of his many drunken days,, after copious amounts of coffee Matt started to function as a human being, ever so slightly.
The meeting had been organised by a group of farm owners and some outsiders Matt didn’t recognise, they talked and discussed issues that effected Matt and his neighbours. It had been decided that each of the farmers would keep about 25% of their produce and give it to the ‘strangers”, these people would arrive by truck, the neighbours would load on farm produce and from the trucks they got clothing and a few medicines.
This community black market was the only way people and society on the grass routes level could survive.

However the Governor had found out about it, he had thrown several of Matts neighbours in jail and their families thrown out of the farms, the farms were then taken over by the Governor.
Matt had spent 3 days in jail, but for some reason they had decided he was a small fish and wasn’t worth the trouble.
He had decided that after leaving the jail he would get a drink, with the meagre money he left he walked into the bar and ordered a drink.
It was that moment that Matts life changed.

He had been sitting at a table, quietly drinking when he saw a newspaper on the next table, he reached across and started reading,.
Low on the front page was an article about the new COE of the Hospital, it was the man, the man who had killed his Lynette and their baby.
Reading further, he found out that the doctor had spent the last few months travelling the world “On government health business”, he had created a new pharmaceutical company while away and on his return he had purchased the lovely “Peso” ranch on the outskirts of Miraculo; not all that far from matts farm.
Matt new the owner of the “Peso” had recently been jailed on charges of being a member of the black market ring, charges that had been totally untrue. He had died while trying to escape custody and his family were thrown of the ranch.
Now Matt was reading that the new owner and near neighbour was the same man who killed his wife and baby.

Matt never finished his beer, he walked out of the bar, never realising at that time that what beer he had drunk was the last drink of alcohol he would ever drink.
Matt went home and from under the floor boards of the stable gear room, he had taken out a large kitbag, it was made of tough camouflage fabric, he opened it and in it was the Rechburgian Special Forces uniform and his M4.
The rest of the day Matt washed and cleaned himself up, he stripped and cleaned the gun several times.
That afternoon he went to his neighbours house and told him to come over and take what they wanted, after today he was leaving.
His neighbours were worried, several came around that day to try to convince him to stay, he told them he wouldn’t change his mind.

That night Matt drunken farmer, became matt Master sergeant of the special forces. He had driven down near the Peso ranch. Once there he had quietly made his way over the fence line, noting the new security sensors which he disabled.
Quietly and efficiently he had killed two security guards on the veranda, and then he moved into the house.
There had been several people there that night, most saw the man in a camouflage uniform walk in, they wouldn’t have recognised the face under the blackened camouflage cream, however the owner of the Peso did. Matt had been one of the people he intended to have thrown on his farm in the next few weeks, he needed that land because it was so fertile down that end of the valley. He hadn’t expected any trouble from his drunken neighbour. In fact it seemed all to easy because he had just today heard that the neighbour had been in jail for being a member of the black market ring. But that was then, and now he stood here facing him.

Matt didn’t speak, he couldn’t, as he looked into the face of the man who had killed his wife and baby because he had been too drunk while operating Matt cried.
The guests who slowly moved away from both men, saw the tears, they then heard the silenced M4 as it literally blew the head of the new owner of the Peso.

The guest screamed and fled out doors and windows, a security guard came down the stairs unseen by Matt, he had just seen this soldier kill his employer and he drew his pistol and fired, the bullet had hit Matt in the arm, Matt had spun around and killed the guard.
He then walked over to the headless body of the man he had come to kill, he emptied the rest of the magazine into the lifeless body as he cried.

Reloading the magazine Matt left the ranch, the blood seeping out the wound in his arm, he knew it wasn’t serious, but he would need to get it cleaned.

Making his way back to the car, he drove to his farm, cleaned and bandaged his arm, set fire to his ranch and left.

Matt was no longer a man trying to forget, Matt was a man seeking a cause and he knew where he would find it. Matt had lived rough for a few days, there had been a massive search for him and the news of the death of such a righteous business man at the hands of a drunken farmer had been news for a few days.
He changed from his uniform into civilian clothes, he had a pistol in a shoulder holster the rest of the weapons he had left behind, hidden.
He knew where to go, the black marketeers who everyone knew were really an opposition or underground group to the Government had made it known to these farmers that if they ever needed help there were ways to get in contact with them.
Matt had made contact and had been told to come to this meeting. He had turned up several hours early and from the roof top of nearby shops he had sat and watched the comings and goings.
He had seen a man in a leather coat enter the alleyway, and stay in the shadows for sometime before knocking on the door. Finally convinced it wasn’t a Government trap, Matt made his way down from the roof and went into the alley way, he paused at the door momentarily, he knocked and when the door opened he stepped into the light.

The machine in the corner of the dark dusty room buzzed.
"See what it is Bil." demanded Ferou
Bil walked over to it. It was a message from the Social Civil Forces HQ. He read it:

Addressing the Force Sectors of Miraculo,
We understand your patience and are grateful for it. Within the next 7 days you will be called upon to visit the Headquarters and recieve special information, weaponry, and technology to assist in the resturcturing of your taskforce and the city of Miraculo. When your Sector receives instruction do so. Until then, remain vigilant and continue to do your assigned jobs.
Deputy of Intelligence, Grisfe Reyti

Finally, Bil thought. They had been stuck in this hellhole for 2 months with only deliveries of food and water from the government. M<aybe he could finally get out, for the second time. He walked over to the table to show the others.

"Then lets pick a position!" Dhal said excitedly. "We should smuggle in the weapons their and organize that rebellion team."
Thause replied. "We still need to gather the attention of all the rebellion teams. Jekis, with Shuik you should first headtowards the position we should choice for the rebellion to begin. But along the way, meet with the disapora of rebellion leaders to make sure we are all organized. We have not been able to communicate efficiently. Our electricity is scare and calls monitored. What methods of communication do you hold?"

"I've been keeping in touch with the leaders by heavily encrypted email. Its the most secure system we can use, and it's never been cracked yet." said Jeskis. "Is there a port in Trafica? The region is, according to my inteligence, unstable and if we could take a port there it would be easy to land our troops. What do you think?"

"A port in Suli then. You should contact the rebels in the area and tell them to prepare themselves. Weapons will arive with the AU troops. I'll tell them to begin the invasion as soon as possible, when they are spotted the revolution in Suli should begin. Every able-bodie man and woman should be on the streets, if they have no arms then let them use their pots or their pans or whatever comes to hand. "Well, first of all, the economic and political ideologies of your government have nothing to do with the favor or disfavor of the Emperor," replied Mr. Voinich matter-of-factly, "Actually, the Emperor is interested in only your relative stability, as compared to other major players in the future of this nation."

Tomilo started to walk along the walls, running his hand over the maps displayed there, "It has come to the attention of the Dominion that in addition to undermining your own country, there are elements in operation within this nation that have a broader base. That is, global elements."

Stopping his walk, he turned again to face Mr. Demunze, "The Dominion understands that a large-scale revolution is not far off in Trafica and Roen. If your government desires it, the Dominion is willing and prepared to intervene to ensure that this revolution will fail. We expect nothing in return; the chance to stymie the international anarchist movement is motivation enough."

"Tell your Emperor all intelligence, arms and forces are welcome and of great use. I agree we have ample time to bring them here, though it should be done as soon as possible. The only time she probably thinks of me is when she thinks of the rebellion." Shuik saw Jeskis face, "yeah-she probably knows somethings up, but very few besides her do. She a master at intimidation, because her intimidation is real; she can get anyone she wants. My dad died in 89, sitting out on the roof of our apartment complex. Mom left him 87 for government. Dad was too settled for her, too simple, too happy." he said. His face didnt crinckle, as if he had told it many times, but he hadnt.

"Dhal is my uncle, my father's brother. Hes a good man, and hell do anything for the socialist cause." he took a wax cup and scooped up some water from the jug in the middle of the thin boat. "I have two sister. One lives in Miraculo, eaching, shes got a big family and shes sorta into the cause, i keep her informed; she is so smart and she tries desperatley not to be like mom. My other sister, Jhalin, live out in Kiatha. Havent heard from her since 2002. Shes younger than me, probably just getting by. She had too much dad. Always drinking and smoking. Sitting around playing cards. My brother lives in on Trafica too, just ouside Miraculo, near the farms. He was in the police force but quit. Wanted to join the army but didnt. He wanders the streets, looking for anything. He always had lots of friends, lots of girls, lots of money, but not anymore. Not for at least 15 years or so. Hes looking for something, dont know what-" he stopped short, before unraveling his life story, realizing he had been talking longer than he could remember ever doing before.

"There is little to tell." he said with a smile, smoke wreathed around his face. "My entire family are anarchists, brought up in the AU we know and understand every blessed concept of that oft misunderstood word. My father was a barber, my mother a seamstress. Both are dead now, killed by one of the wretched diseases which plagued us last year. I commited myself to the Militia Brigades, I felt passionate about the cause. Now my job is here, plotting to destroy the government which your mother works for."

"Tell me," he said. "As her son, do you have acess to any information I should know about. You said you had little to do with her, but perhaps a relative is still in touch. A source of intelligence from such a high place would be most helpful."

As he stood over the toilet he looked out the window and he made a quick decision--he flung himself out the window onto the dumpster beneath it. He began running down the alley, racing for a particular destination. About two blocks down he stopped at a stariway the went down into a lower level of a building. He walked down and knocked. He hadnt thought of it before. It had been 2 VERY long months and the best he could do was a few magazine pictures posted on the walls of the station. At 24 Mazz was fit and muscular, his stance lean and his face, formerly smooth, now scruffled with lack-of-shave. A girl dressed in a thin tablecloth opened the door. She looked up at him. The black car stopped at the corner. Demunze stepped out of the car and it slid away into the lightless streets of the city slums, back to where it came. He sighed but did not pause; he was not really thinking too much.
He was crossed the middle of the street now, heading towards the sidewalk. Some birds made a commotiojn on the power lines connecting two apartment buildings. Some people talked from alleys next to him and behind him and restlessness in one of the apartment rooms could be heard with loud knocks and smashes. Demunze glimpsed at the sad entrance, falling apart in front of his face. The city, a tropical paradise of sorts, had rotted not from the Au, but from the inside out. He knew it, the government was corrupt and it had lost its way. It was awash with spies from the fascist allies of the government and the S.C. Forces would soon rule all again. Bleak, dusty, wet, humid, industrial, and barren. He knew there would be a revolution, he knew Mentira knew, he knew T' Gevauri knew, he knew Toccuilq had failed, govenrment had failed, people had failed communism had failed. He knew they were watching him. He knew they were watching him right now. He knew the sidewalk was so close, but he would never reach it-no one ever did. He knew he had been shot, Again. Again. Again Again Again Again Again Again. He knew no one would help. He knew no one would care, and in the morning it would be business as usual. But he knew there was a rebellion out there to fix the wrongs to make them right once again. He knew he was dying. He fell, and in his last glimpse of Earth, he saw the sidewalk, it was far off, he hadnt reached, but it was closer than it ever had been before.

Tomilo Voinich opened his door and quickly stepped inside, closing it behind him immediately. Taking off his coat, he put it up on the rank and spoke to those he knew were listening, "Stefan, have we learned anything since I left this morning?"

From the other room Stefan Kliucharev answered, "No, I am afraid not. I spent another day in the slums, but none have taken the bait. No contact yet."

"We can wait," Tomilo entered the small dining room in the apartment he had rented here in Miraculo for the past two years, "I met with Minister Mentiro today," He sat down across from Stefan and began to pour himself some of the coffee cooling in the middle of table.

"How did that go?"

"Well. It went well; they have accepted our help,"

"Excellent," came the response, although it was not Stefan who gave it, "This is good news indeed." Stepping from the living room, the third denizen of the apartment made himself known,

"Who are you!" exclaimed Tomilo, immediately standing and drawing his minuscule pistol with the practiced skill of a soldier,

"Do not bother, Tomilo," cautioned Stefan, "If he wanted to do us harm, the both of us would be dead, our weapons notwithstanding."

At this, the large man, for he was quite large, spoke again, "Let me introduce myself; I am Major Sidor Tadui of the Imperial Army Cataphractarii, sent here to conduct operations in support of your objectives in this country."

When he heard this, Tomilo warmed slightly to the man's presence, and, at the very least, put away the gun, "How long have you been in-country, Major?"

"I and my company have been here together for three days now, although the first of us to arrive have been here for weeks. We came by civilian transport from a dozen separate countries, only assembled for the first time three days ago."

Turning to Stefan again, Tomilo continued, "When I've made contact with their government, positive or negative, I was under orders to communicate with Rear Admiral Stafiev; relay my orders for him," turning back to the major, "What am I to do with a company of Cataphractarii in the meantime, your men were never included in the plan,"

"On the contrary," began Stefan, "They have always been a part of the plan, just never yours. The Office has kept certain things from each of us, to remove any threat of jeopardization. I am sure that you know things I do not,"

"Yes, well, the question remains. What do we do with a company of Cataphractarii?"

"Don't you worry about that, the Major will be plenty occupied in these days to come, leave that aspect to me. You make sure that you make contact with the Admiral, and relay his orders; he must be getting bored by now anyway..."

Stefan stood to leave, and Major Tadui followed him out when he left.

Alone, Tamilo did indeed contact Admiral Stafiev's Seventh Fleet, and gave the man his orders, sealed until this moment, and laid out the situation as it concerned him. Tomorrow Tamilo would make contact with the foreigners at the intelligence office again, and inform them of the dozen ships and five-thousand men that were now bound for the islands of Trafica and Roen.

Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur
The morning after he met for the first time with Major Tadui, Tomilo Voinich fulfilled the remainder of his duties here in Trafica and Roen, as laid out by the Foreign Relations Office of the Dominion.

Firstly, he composed a short message, to be transmitted via a pre-arranged transmitted set up by the other Frumentarii agents in this country, for the Pudite Imperial Navy Rear Admiral known as Mr. Stafiev. This message outlined Admiral Stafiev's role in the coming campaign, as well as relating specific information Tomilo and his compatriots had gathered thus far on land. Upon receiving this message, Admiral Stafiev would take his twelve ships and sail immediately for the territorial waters of Trafica and Roen. He had been cruising in nearby international channels for days, and was anxious to move on to the next stage of the operation.

The second, and final, thing Mr. Voinich undertook was the preparation of a letter, written for the Minister of Intelligence and Security, Aleira Mentiro, and addressed to her home. It was delivered a few hours later by a civilian postman, unremarkable, save for the content of the letter therein.

----

Dear Ms. Mentiro,

I sincerely hope that you meant everything you said to me yesterday, for soon, the time will come that it will be put into action. Specifically, I feel that I should inform you that the ‘near future’ of which I spoke in our conversation has come to pass already. I have, therefore, sent for a force of ships and men from my homeland to offer what assistance they can to the preservation of your government in the face of extra-national threats.

Although it is likely that by the time you read this letter, you will know, I will tell you now. Twelve ships of the Pudite Imperial Navy are due to enter the territorial waters of your nation, bound to make landfall where ever your military leadership sees fit. Barring any decision by your officers, our commander of the fleet, Rear Admiral Stafiev, will make his own decision.

He bears with him a full brigade of combat-ready Imperial Navy Naval Infantrymen; five battalions of mechanized assault infantry. These soldiers are hereby committed to the defense of the islands of Trafica and Roen until such a time as any foreign-derived attacks on the rightful government thereof has ceased.

Good day,

"Be carefukl though, Emperor Pudu and Mr. Voinich are key allies to our government. I trust them. I do not trust their safety in Miraculo and i do not want to be fooled by imposters or rebels." Mentira retorted.
T' Gevauri looked at his assistant, half-nodding, half-demanding, and his assistant walked out of the room, cellphone in hand.
T' Gevauri, awoken from a daze, set in; "Our governments policy of isolation since the war will generate suspicion amkong the international community."
"Tell President Toccuilq to address the nation and the international community that Trafica and Roen will be accepting aide, because of the war, from its allies." Mentira said.
T' Gevauri picked up the phone and notified his assistant. For the next few minutes, T' Gevasuri, Resault and Mentira shuffled papers and made calls and checked the computer; day-to-day business as it were.

Resault leaned back in his chair and grabbed something from a bag. It was The State[I], the state-run newspaper for Trafica and Roen. He held out the fron page to Mentira and T' Gevauri:
[I]Top Intelligence Man Found Dead
No Suspects; Demunze Murdered in Front of Home
"Demunze! My God!" shouted a sincerely shocked T' Gevauri. He snatched the paper from Resault and examined the text. Mentira didnt even look up. She didnt even hear Resault.
"Organized you think? or has the crime become that bad?! Now government agents are being murdered on the streets of their own city; the Forces should be the top priority." he shouted
"Some of the inner-city Forces are already beggining to reactivate." Mentira noted.
"And the Teos manufacturing plant should begin shipping us supplies in days." T' Gevauri inquired.
Resault looked at Mentira, who looked down at papers she was scanning over closely. he looked at T' Gevauri, shocked by the murder, but not by Mentira's coldness towards it.
She didnt look up, but began speaking, more conversational than ever, "Let's get Voinich back in here, talk it over, make sure the message is delivered by Toccuilq, and keep the citizens away from the incoming--ah--cargo." Mentira said. They resumed business and T' Gevauri pardoned himself from the room.
Resauolt sat at the computer for a gopd 5 minutes before turning to Mentira and saying, "They did good Aleira..."
"Mentira or Minister!"
"...Mentira; they did good, huh?"
"Yeah." she said in all seriousness. "They did damn good."

Kiatha Docking Ports; 5 A.M.
The sun was peaking over the waters of the bay. The swampy reed floated on the rippling tides and the water was blue, covered in decorative reflection. The sound of the paddle in the water was peaceful, and Shuik dozed, though he had not wanted to, through a good 2 hours of the trip. The old man bumped the boat into a sand bar in crowded bay full of reed boats and old men and women in reed hats, and children splashing in the mud. The town was like a quaint mix of Thai water village, and Carribean port town; it seemed so much more peaceful and relaxing than Miraculo. Shuik woke at the bump and stood up. He thanked the man heavily and he and stepped off the boat.
"Good ride huh?" he asked Jeskis, not really caring for an answer. He sood on the sand bar and began swashing through the traffica, clean and beaautiful crowds, unlike the dirty docks filled with garbage at Miraculo. He finally reached the beach and stood. The plains were magnificent and he could see land--for miles!--farms and orchards. He turned to the west and saw the sprawling port, with adobe and reed houses and brick multi-stories. They headed into town and he walked to the only place he knew tpo in Kiatha: Darrie's. The small diner was a rare sight in Trafica and Roen, it's westermn qualities resented by the government, but it had survived all these years.
Darrie's was owned by Shuik's Uncle Ker back in the 80s and named for his late wife. Now, his cousin, Little Ker, as everyone used to call him, owned it. His memories of the joint were raucous music and fights. Drinks and food. Laughter and Yells. He walked in an the calm sway demeanor of the place hit him like an iron wall. He walked over to the counter and...
"HEY HEY EH?! HEY!!" shouted his cousin, lean and with a moustache. He was tan even for the tanned skin color of Trafican and Roenese people. "SHUIK! AYE AYE AYE! HOWS ALL!!" he screamed.
Shuik was in incredible discomfort as his cousin gave him a big hug. Shuik stepped back once the grip loosened.
"How are you?" he said, settled down.
"OK." Shuik said, staring, losing his place. He startled himself and began; "Im here looking for my sister, Ker, i need to talk with her. This is Jeskis, he--ah, a friend."

"Lets talk." Ker said, still laughing a little, but very serious. He took them out back and they walked down a stone path, broken up and covered in sand. they turned around a corner and broke through a patch of palm trees onto a beach. Most of Trafica and Roen, unlike the rest of Schliseria's island nation's, has little beaches and is mostly rocky, except for some space where ports and docks usually go. Not Kiatha, Kiatha was a sprawlihng paradise, and the beach extended about 200 ft before ocean. Lots of space, lots of peace, lost of parties. They grabbned some chairs and sat close to the water.
"First, how are you both? really." Ker said.
Shuik looked at Jeskis, an invitation to introduce himself.

A man in a ruffled cloth shirt and a damp pair of shorts stepped of the docks in Miraculo. He whistled as he stepped off one of the reed boats, driven by and elderly man, that had taken him from the island of Roen. He walked, hands in pockets, up the streets of the early morning city. The smell of pollutants filled the air and he whistled the whole way. He sis not seem lost, more routine. Eventually he came to the front of a large glass and steel complex:
Social Civil Forces Headquarters
He looked up the stairs, at the guards, and continued walking. He strooled along the streets, a few cars driving by. He came towards another building. He was in Government Center, a sprawling space of broken pavenment that would fail as a parking lot. He walked over to the decorated building he knew. He had been there once. He had seen it twice. He had read about it, talked about, many times. He walked past some guards on duty, towards the steps of the entrance. He walked. He walked farther and farther till he was at the doors. Parliament Tower. His last thoughts ran through his mind fast. Damn this is it. I did it. I am a true hero. I am a fighter. I fought for my cause. I am so damn... ... ... ...
the scene had burst into a total inferno. The building crumbled. The smok began to float upwards and everyone could see. It had taken a few seconds but the gurads had realized what heppened and rushed to the scene. Women screamed. Men screamed. Children screamed. Blodd on the concrete. The steps obliterated and cracked at the bases. The entrance of the whole tower blown in.

Government Center
Alarms sounded as the ghuards rushed to gather people and clear the front of the building. Blood pured down the heavily fractured steps and the columns of the entrance to Parliament had fallen like sticks. Glass had blown through and covered the lobby. Police arrived. Even Forces arrived. One guard finally gained control of a megaphone.
"Please, stay with the police, they will talk to you, do not panic..." he went on.

"What the hell just happened" one guard asked another.
"You know what the hell happened," he said, sounding both furious and excited, "their rebellikng aginst us."

Executive Offices, Government Center
President Toccuilq sat in a chair. He was being briefed on the situation. Rebels have formed in the city. They are planning to strengthen their forces and attack. Emperor Pudu has intelligence. the Force will soo be back online. Ships are coming. Address the nation and the international community that Aide is coming, so not to create suspicion and disorientation among citizens.
Toccuilq grew accustomed to bad news. Not in the past 3 months, no not since the war, since he had taken office of President of Trafica and Roen in 2003. He was preparing his speech with some aides when an assistant barged through the doors. Toccuilq gave him an angry look.
The sound proof offices of the President did not take in the sound of the explosion.
"There has been an explosion in front of Parliament Tower." he said, out of breath. "Not D.O.A. count yet, not sure who perpetrated it. But its bad. It was a big explosion." he said
President Toccuilq stood up and began pacing out of the room. A crowd swarmed him: advisers, aides, military commanders.
"President, we do not know if any memebers of Parliament have been injured. Parliament was not in session though the offices were active today. It hit the lobby and a few second floor rooms and offices.
"Get me intelligence and defense on the phone!" demanded Toccuilq.
"T' Gevauri" said the rusty voice.
"Good morning Head. What the hell just happened sir?"
"President Toccuilq, we are certain this was an attack carried out by the increasing rebel groups in the city. We are running a full scale investigation and the Forces wil be assigned to look for any suspicious activity; they will search every crevice of this damned island." he said
"Good. Ah--hello?"
The phone beeped.
"Minister Mentira, President Toccuilq." Mentira said in a sturdy tone. We are going to find out how the rebels gained control of such arms and clean the city of weaponry that is not part of the Forces, military, or police. Mr President..."
"Yes, Minister?"
"Head of Parliament Uastii is dead. His regular office time was out and he was leaving the building. It could have been timed. 3 other members of Parliament are D.O.A."
"This have any connection with Demunze's death?"
"We bel;ieve so. The rebellion has begun to fight but our forces are being reactivated and supplied. Emperor Pudu will only give us more power to crush the insurgency."
"Thank you Minister." Toccuilq said. He headed to the PR Room to make several emergency announcements.

Dhal meanwhile had walked over to the door where a man had come in. Blodd streaming from his arm. "Come here man!" he said to the farmer. "He put his arm around the man's shoulder and walked him in. "Who are you?" he whispered.

Matt saw the man approach, grateful to see a friendly face.
"Im Matt Schilling, I was a farmer until today, part of the ring that supplied food to the people. I ran into some trouble, I have killed a man, in fact the new Government boss at the hospital".

Matt looked around the room, noting the odd collection of people. He griminced with pain, as the wound in his arms was jolted as someone pushed by.
"The bastard killed my wife and child when he was a doctor, the fucker killed them while being drunk during a simple operation. Lately he has been throwing people of their farms and buying the land, he has started a drug company and he was creaming the funds given to purchase drugs and replacing them with cheap subsitutes that usually dont work; and I have killed him.
I was told that if I needed help I was to come here, I guess killing the son of the Minister for health means I need help. But if I was told wrong, or you think my being here is going to cause problems I will move on."

Matt reached into his jacket pocket, he took out a worn wallet, from the wallet he drew out an old army ID.
It identified him as a Master sergeant in the Rechurg Special Forces, now retired.

"I can help, I can help with training and I have good contacts with the Rechburgian Special Forces and with Admiral Ney the National security Advisor to the Duke of rechburg, he is my uncle".

"Ok, ok take it easy." Dhal said. He sat the man down and walked over to Thause.
"He killed a government administrator Thause, they'll follow us." Dhal said
Thause looked at Matt, sitting in the chair, he looked back at Dhal. We still have time and the Forces are still too weak, they are not gonna follow this for at least a few days and by then...well...the trail is lost."
"We could---" Dhal thought, "send him somewhere else."
"Keep him here for now. Lets see how he can best help us, or how he wants to."
"He is a former Master Sergeant of the Rechburh Special Forces and he says they can help us."
Thause's eyes had an unusual spark, but they quikly died. "Now, now, let's not get an all out--" he paused and thought for a few moments. His mouth extended, just short enough to not be considered a smile. "We could have them operate same as the AU forces, but come in fro a different window. We could kick the bastards while they're still down."
"Bring em in on another island?" Dhal wondered
"Yeah, but make it seem like there is only one attack, ya know, confuse em, mess them up, and then we'll be hitting from both side."
Dhal smiled and realized that the plan was feasible, if they carried it out soon enough and under cover. If nothing went wrong. He knew the government, or at least the Intelligence and Forces, would smell a rebellion by tommorrow, if they hadnt for a long time already, but it could work.
He stood in front of Schilling, "Matt Schilling, you've lost your family, you've killed a government man in a world were government means everything, you came wounded to the most unsafe group of outlaws in Trafica and Roen, and you want to join us." he said staring at Schilling. "So join us. We got a plan for you."

He went over the plan with the entire group. After several hours of planning, sleep shifts, and some rest the group regathered as a man barged through the door.
"Grab a RADIO!" the lanky kid screamed.
"Wat are you coming in here and yelling about?!" somenoe said.
Everyone become loud and yelled at the boy but he quelled the corwd and stood up on a chair, his voice out-of breath, and made the announcement:
"Theres benn a bombing in front of Parliament Tower!!" he yelled.
"Get a radio...happened 20 minutes ago...huge blast...parliament members are dead and theres tons of damage...Toccuilq's giving a speech!" he frantically yelled to all the questions everyon asked.
Someone grabbed a radio and didnt bother to switch the dial for the Trafica and Roen radios all played one thing when the President made a speech--the President's speech.

...and now, President of Trafica and Roen, CohuitttToccuilq of the Laborers Socialist Party of Trafica and Roen.----------------------hmmm----ergh----hf--f--hf--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Good Morning my fellow citizens, my fellow workers. I am delivering an important message, important news, to you at this earl morning hour. Just 20 minutes ago the entrance to Parliament Tower in Government Center was attacked by a bomber. A large eruption caused measures of damage and at least 17 of your fellow Trafica and Roenese, are dead. Since the war, are nation has been ravaged by crime, instability, and thoughts of rebellions. Today, our great allies and your nation have taken a step towards a permanent rebuilding process. In the coming days, international aide shipments will be arriving in Miraculo. They will be spread to all the districts of the nation. The Forces will once again be able to protect the streets of your cities once they are up and running once again, starting with Miraculo Forces, in the coming days. We thank the international allies and our brave and proud workers of the police force and intelligence community. Many of you may know there is a growing threat or rebellion on the streets of Miraculo. The rebellion is not large but is a threat to peace and stability on our beautiful islands. As for today's attack, Intelligence and police forces believe it was purpotrated by rebels. They say the murder of Intelligence Officila Demunze may also have been an act by the rebels. Let me say this--NO ONE SHALL DEFEAT WHAT WE HAVE ALL FOUGHT SO HARD FOR! YOU HAVE CREATED THIS NATION AND I HAVE SERVED AS YOUR PRESIDENT,WE WILL NOT LET IT BE THREATENED BY THESE PEOPLE! Together we must reunite as one people, the great socialist, Schliserian peoples of Trafica and Roen, and defeat this rebellion, together!........h.....hf.....grgh...............Thank you for listening to this broadcast...

The radio was shut off and everyone stared. At each other, at the ground, at nothing.
"Well," someone finally spoke up, breaking the silence heavily, "what can we do know. This is it. The bombing was the incentive and know theyre fighting us. Theyre watching again. They know and theyre waiting."
Dhal spoke, "were not done here, they still need at least a day to regroup, we have time."
"Who did it?"
Thasuse spoke up, "It doesnt matter. If it was one of ours they are not with us anymore and they were never part of the plan. No had a hint about us and now theyre going full force on us. Well we'll have to go full force on them, just undercover for a few more days. This is why were fighting men, so we dont get laid down by the government. Our plans stay!"

Several Days After The Bombing, S.C. Forces Headquarters, Miraculo

With the Tero Manufacturing Plant up and running, and no major activity from the rebels in the few days since the bombing, the Forces were easily gaining stability. Rygloen and Emperor Pudu each backed the government in itstry to keep order in the nation, ready to burst at it seems with reform. But Minister of Intelligence and Security Aleira Mentira, mother of Schuik, a rebel intellect, sat back in her chair, a discouraged look on her face.
The Forces were an outdated police unit. They had failed once, and that was enough for Minister Mentira. Despite headinf the Forces and being responsible for rehabilitating them and restoring their power, she also was head of Intelligence and Security, and she was telling herself that for security, she needed better intelligence services. More secret, less corrupt, and promoters of Trafican and Roenese people.

Matt Schilling made his way to the corner of the room, he took a cell phone out of his pocket and called his old friend Dan O'Conner back in Rechburg.

Colonel Dan O'Conner was very surprised to hear from his old buddy Matt, they had been in the Special Forces together, back in those days Matt had been a Top sergeant and Dan was a Captain.
They had been members of Alpha team, the Elite of the Elite.

Dan had visited Matt several times after his wounding, he felt very sorry to see this man who was one of the toughest soldiers in the army being restricted to a bed.
Once he had been released from the hospital, Matt wanted to return to the Alpha team, but the army wouldnt allow it. Dan had suggested he apply to Matts own Uncle Admiral Jochiam Ney who was the National Security Adviser to the Duke of Rechburg. But Matt was too proud to beg or seek an unfair advantage, if the Rechburg army didnt want him he said he didnt want Rechburg.
He had only seen Matt once since then, that was at his wedding.

Now from no where he had a call from his old comrade.

Matt had explained what had ahppened to him since the wedding, and in particular how Trafica and Roen was going to hell and back. What made it worse, not only were the people rising up, there was a possibility of outside powers moving in.

Dan said he would make some calls and would call back.

Several hours later, after Matts arm had been bandaged, his cell phone rang once more.

"Matt, its Dan. I have spoken to some people here and they are very interested in what you have said. Your Uncle is very interested that other powers maybe involved, we are sending you some old friends from your team, to have a look. I will ring you back with details in a few hours."

Matt put the phone back in his pocket.

He turned to Dhal
"They are sending in some Special Forces to have a look, looks like you will have your revolution".

From: Mr. White, foreign affairs office, Dominion of Emperor Pudu XLII

The Emperor of our Imperial Dominion is displeased to hear of your country's choice to support the anarchists and terrorists in the nation of Trafica and Roen. This choice illustrates to Him that yours is a country with no respect for the order and peace that the legitimate government of the nation in question.

Therefore, in the light of the certainly deplorable nature of your leadership, the Emperor has authorized the Imperial Pudite Navy to engage and destroy any fleet of the navy of Chemelnki that comes within eight-hundred kilometers of Trafica and Roen national waters.

Understanding that it has already been decided that your nation should commit soldiers and sailors to do just that, it is quite highly reccomended that you re-think this course of action, for it will certainly result in the ultimate destruction of your men and materials.

Should you comply, and turn back, no harm will befall you. Should you press onwards, we will raze your fleet to the waterline.

He knew the location of his first observer; a marksman assigned to him by Major Tadui that morning to ensure his safety, but he could not be as certain of the locations of the others. It was likely that the government was watching him approach, it was their compound, after all, but there were others, he knew it. Tomilo had not spent the last twenty years in the Frumentarii, the imperial intelligence agency, to be outsmarted now.

No sniper would strike at him, at least, not yet. So he continued. The car pulled away to park, and Mr. Voinich walked up to the gate, addressing the guard; "I was called for?"

Dhal turned to Schilling.
"I hope your men can get here fast. This is out now." Dhal had a look of disappointment in his eyes. He did not expect that something--the bombing--would happen and turn everything around. "I--" he began but Thause cut him off.
"Enough! Men, this is the time! Suli will be taken soon! We cant sit here and wait another 20 years for an opportunity! The government has fallen apart and it is only now picking up its pieces!" Thause said. Suddenly, in mid speech, a sharp chill ran through the room. All of a sudden, all eyes on him, Thause stood even more straight and his eyes widened.
"This--This isnt done...why..men..." he was stuttering and nearly whispering, he looked up with an inappropriate look of shock, "why, we havent finished yet! we're not done here! This is out country! Lets go home, gather our weapons, gather our friends and family, lets get out there and fight. Corrdinate, attack, hit them hard. The intelligence is the most powerful part of the government, so why try and fight a secret war with Intelligence, when we can win a war against the government! win it for ourselves!" the crowd began restless, they all remembered why Thause was the leader, this, right here, was why. "Now listen men, I want you to all go home, gather everyone up, gather all your weapons and we are gonna fight. We start with a few Forces stations, we get their weapons, then we have our own base ground, then we get more stations and more people, Suli fight for us and the government is in panic! We march in to Government Center and say 'MR. TOCCUILQ-WE'RE NOT GOING AWAY, WE"RE HERE FOR OUR COUNTRY!"
Applause beat the air so intensely it sounded as if a powerful storm had been lodged captive in the room-and was trying to escape.
The crowd talked and yelled and garnered up calls of pride, and most of the men dispersed, carrying out their duties, while others stayed to help with command.
"Any word from Shuik, Dhal", Thause asked him, calmer now
"Not yet. Word from Suli, they havent arrived yet. But Suli is gonna carry out the plan anyway. I just hope the boy and the Au can coordinate on the job."
"They can." Thause reassured Dhal.
"As for you," he said, looking at Schilling. "You wanna fight this too, youll be with us man, your with us, me, Dhal and the whole revolution." He looked at Schilling and Dhal.
"So what are we gonna do first."
"Well i think these guys can take care of communication" Thause said pointing to the few men scrambling around. "I say we lead the charge, you know, just like our fathers did"
"Storm one of the stations" Dhal said, nearly laughing
"Yeah, lets go after these bastards hard." Thause said, grinning heavily.
"Lets go then." Shal headed to grab a few things and looked at Schilling, "Come on Schilling, we're done talking, lets get in their and kick commy ass."

"We have to call into the building at the end of the lane on the way, I left some gear there."

They quietly left the building and made their way down the lane and across the road to the empty building.
Once inside Matt disappeared into a small room and came back with a large camouflage bag.
He dug into it and took out his own m4 with its silencer, plus another for one of the others.
He passed out 4 grenades while keeping two for himself, stacked a couple of small parcels beside him and he then started to take off his clothes.

The others looked not a little surprised, and not doubt worried.
He grinned
"Don't worry, if I'm being shot at tonight, its not going to be as the fucking bum I have lived for the last few years".

He took out his special forces uniform and quickly dressed.

Gathering his weapons and the parcels, he whispered
"we need to get to 2.4 quietly and unseen, so no running. We take it easy, and no shooting unless I say. Do either of you know of a shortcut that will keep us off the roads?"

The special forces Pave III was equipped for insertion missions, they were extremely secret aircraft that flew low and silently, bulky aircraft especially with the long range fuel tanks that were fitted.
The crossed the Trafica and Roen border along a remote section. Flying at night using the automated NAP system was always nerve wracking to Colonel O'Connor, no matter how many times you did it; it just didn't get easier.

The orders to respond to Matt Schilling's call had come through within the hour of him making it.

Admiral Ney the Rechburg National Security Advisor himself rang them through

"Take a Team in and find out what the hell is happening in Trafica and Roen, report if Rechburg should get involved, if not they were to bring Matt Schilling out at all costs."

Admiral Ney had added as if almost a after thought

"Colonel the Expeditionary Fleet will be sailing within the next few hours, so we need to know what the Hell is happening over there damned quick, so don't piss about ehhh".

The captain up at the cockpit of the Pave III leaned back and spoke into his mic

"5 minutes to go sir"

Colonel O'Conner nodded and repeated the message to his team of 15 Elite Special Forces.

The Helicopter put down along side a wood, the Special Forces men leapt out and formed a circle around the aircraft, once they were completely unloaded, he waved the Captain away.
Almost silently except for the quiet murmur of the engine and the whooshing of the blades the helicopter lifted away.

Dan O'Connor gathered his burst satellite phone and rang Matt Schilling.

Dhal olooked at Schilling. "Our best bet would be to stay in the alleys and stay off the main roads."
Thause addded, "plus there is always noise from the allies so we wont arouse any suspicion."
They walked out of the building and took a left down one of the alley streets. Behnd the row houses and mass-residential buildings were thin, disgusting alleyways. walkways cinnecting backs of row house building, a simple, worn, graffiti-covered wooden fence dividing it from the walkway on the other side.
Forlorn beings strolled along, heads down, never looking up. Smashes and yells from the apartments could be heard all through the dusty night. The ground was covered in garbage.
They squirmed their way through the maze of alleyways before Thause paused.
"There it is," said Dhal, looking ahead, right on the other side of the main road, which they could slimly see from their position.

Matt looked at the building, there was no obvious security and the people walking the streets were clearly not interested who or what was around them.

"Ok here's what we do, you two make your way over to the building, look for any obvious external security, Guards down side alleys, cars out back and security camera's, if its all clear give me a nod and I will come over. But for gods sake keep your weapons hidden, just make out you are a couple of bored louts, with nothing to do."

Just as he finished talking, he felt his cell phone vibrate, quickly taking it from his pocket he read the text message.

"Old friends in Bossu Wood"

He knew Bossu wood was some 10 miles from the town he text back

"Wait there, will make contact"

His companions looked on, clearly a little worried

"Its my friends, the Rechburg special Forces, they have arrived".

He tucked his phone away.

"OK lets get it done".

The two men made their way over the street, quietly and almost carelessly they walked to the station, while one lounged against the wall trying to light a cigarette, the other ducked down into the lane and checked out the rear.
He came came back out and nodded towards Matt.

Gathering his gear Matt strode over to the building, his M4 slung across his chest he walked like the soldier he used to be, and was once again. If nothing else, these young rebels have given him a chance to gain self respect.

He walked over to the lads they told him there was a police wagon around the back and that was all.
He told them to move down the pathway a little and remain watching.

Matt then strode into the dimly lit entrance way, he pushed the door open and walked up to the desk.

The policeman had the desk was busy reading the paper, he casually looked up and then startled stepped back from the Desk, there before him was a man dressed in a uniform with full combat gear, a master sergeant to boot.
It was a moment of instant reaction, he smiled and said

"Yeah sergeant what can I do for you?"

"I have orders to give this parcel to your commanding officer, it is urgent"

"Well serg the Captain is at home off duty, if you like I will give it to him in the morning"

"Naa whos next in charge, maybe he can deal with it?"

"Ahh thats inspector Bromely, he's in the toilet, he wont be long"

"Anyone else here that can help out" asked Matt

"Nope, just me an the inspector, the other boys out looking for troublemakers. By the way, whats the uniform I dont recognise it?"

"Special Forces son, now wheres the toilets I will go and surprise the inspector"?

"Down the hallway as far as you go, turn right not left, left door is locked."

"Ok thanks son, very helpful"

Matt strode down the hallway, he noted the door on the left said secure room, so he walked into the toilets, before him stood a man washing his hands in the basin.

"What the fuck are you" he demanded.

"Master sergeant matt Schilling, Rechburg Special Forces"

"Rechburg, what the hell are you doing in here", the inspector said as he reached for the towel.

"killing you" replied matt as he raised the M4 and shot the inspector with the customary double tap, one to the chest; one in the head.

The Inspector fell back against the wall, he slid down leaving a bloody streak down the wall.
Matt reached down and searched his pockets, he found some keys, making his way back out to the foyer the policeman had returned to reading his paper.
"Did you find the Inspector?" he asked.
"Yeah I did" matt replied and raised the M4 and shot the policeman with another double tap.

He then stepped outside and indicated to the lads that they should join him.
They quickly ran into the foyer, he locked the front door and walking down the hallway he turned off the front office light. He then made his way down the hall way to the locked room.
He tried the keys he had taken off the Inspector and eventually one opened the door, they stepped into what was a well equipped armoury of automatic rifles, shotguns, pistols and bullet proof vests. there were several rows of computers as well.

He said to Dhal, go out the back door and bring the van up to the door, we will load these weapons into the back, and those computers as well.
Within 20 minutes they had loaded the van full of Police uniforms, weapons computers. Matt told them to wait in the van while he went and locked up, the other two snickered to themselves, excited with the haul they had, and the thought that Schilling would lock up after he left.

He returned moments later, just as a Police bus pulled up. he saluted the officer as he got off the bus.

The officer asked what was happening

"I'm Sergeant Schilling Sir, Special forces detailed to do spot checks on the security of all our stations"

The policemen about 15 or 20 of them unloaded from the bus, and made their way to the rear station door.

The officer said
"I dont recognise the uniform sergeant"

"Well thats because we are a special department sir, and sir I must say the security of this station was appaling; I will be making my report directly"

The officer frowned

"Well we have been a security sweep trying to round up criminals, sergeant; doing real security work"

he then walked past the van not noticing the two men hiding inside.

Matt quickly made his way to the van, he was about to climb in as the officer called

"Sergeant, would you please join me inside, there are some matters I want cleared up".

Noticing the Captain was the last policemen to go in, he had his hand on the closed door about to open it, when all of a sudden there was a massive explosion inside. The Blast blew the door open killing the captain and everyone inside, it also brought debris and wreckage crashing down on the police van. It smashed the windscreen sending glass all over the two men inside. It knocked matt over and he had been hit on the head by a large brick, he was bleeding somewhat as he opened the van door.

"Does it still go?"
Dahl tried the ignition, and the van started.

"Right lets get the fuck out of here" he said as he climbed into the passenger seat.

Dahal as carefully as could drove down the back lane away from the flames from the destroyed station.
The van was difficult to drive as one of the tyres had been punctured in the explosion.

Dahl, almost white from terror and fright asked

"What the hell happened?"

Matt replied
"I had fixed a package of C4 to the gas heating with a 3 minute timer, turned the gas on and had hoped to be away before it went off; the rest you know."

They made their way out onto the road, in the distance they could see the flashing lights of the emergancy services.
Matt indicated that they should pull over beside a parked truck.

"Dahl you hot wire that bitched, we will get this shit unloaded"

It wasnt before long the truck was loaded and running, the men escaping from the firery infurno of a destroyed station and 17 dead security police. More importantly they had a load of weapons.

Mr. Voinich reached out and shook Resault's extended hand, responding, "Indeed, I've heard of his fate. It seems even those in power no longer possess the powers to keep themselves safe..."

"Is Miss Mentira in, or shall I speak to you?"

"Shes in." Resault sneered. Again, they walked into the elevator, riding it to floor 13. They walked to a different room this time, one with a tile floor, papers spread on the table, and some high-tech computers, unlike the previous meeting rooms ancient devices.
"She'll be here soon, Mr. Voinich, take a seat." Resault said, making a very poor job of trying to flatter the man.
He sat down, pretended to review the papers, while continuously glancing at Mr. Voinich.
Minister Mentira finally walked in about 10 minutes later. She walked right by Voinich and Resault, not a glance. She fixed a few things, then she appeared to come alive. She looked at both of them, nodding.
"Good Evening, Mr. Voinich." She said, abrasivley loud and as cheerful as one might expect the wicked witch of the west to be at the sight of happiness.
"Welcome back. How is your Emperor, and when are his troops arriving? We have a few matters to discuss, i dont know if anyone from the military would like to speak with us as well." Mentira said, demanding, expecting, not asking if Emperor Pudu had felt inclined enough to continue support of President Toccuilq.
"The President would probably like to meet some of your high-ranking members, if not yourself, to discuss things. After all yo are helping the government he is in charge of, not me." she said with a smirk.

Sector 2.4"
Dhal pulled away from the street. Surly a second bomb in as many days was going to attract plenty of attention from Intelliogence and the Forces.
"Wear too?" said Thause
"The Ports." said Dhal, filled with adrenaline. Walking the streets had been easy enough, but driving a van at night in Miraculo-in fact driving in Miraculo, would easily arrouse ubnwanted suspicion.
"How are we going to contact the pothers to either initiate their attacks or meet us at the Ports?" Thause said loudly but cooly
"Use your phone, contact the few men we left at the original base and have them spread out for contact, it'll spread like rapid-fire once word gets out." Dhal suggested to Schilling.
They managed to make it to the "Docks" of Miraculo, not unscathed, but with weapons nonetheless.
Dhal parked the van and Thause told them to hold up a little while. Let's not go bargin out, i'm sure if any place has at least some govenment agents lurking around its the docks, because we know that people are trying to get in and out of here. Not to mention im sure they are expecting back-uup troops from god knows who, Rygloen definitley." Thause said, trying not to speak too loud, so that no one on the other side of the metal sheets of the van could they be heard.

Dan Schilling rang the locations of the other rebels and told them to get all spare people down to the Port, he also range the Special forcs unit hiding in the Bossu wood to make their way down there as well, however as they were over 10 miles away they would be sometime.

Tomilo ignored the looks of Mr. Resault, he was not here to make friends with functionaries.

Smiling when Mrs Mentira entered (for he was here to make friends with her - or anyone else with her sway...), Mr. Voinich waited patiently for her to finish, and spoke, "First of all, the arrival of Admiral Stafiev should be common knowledge here, he's been inside your territorial waters for at least twelve hours. I am not in a position issue orders to him, and I suppose if you're interested in what he's going to do, you should ask him," Tomilo settled for a second, preparing his next answer,

"As for your president, he can meet with me if he wants a face to put on these new friends, I am afraid no others can be found at such short notice. The Admiral, were he even available, is not one for..." he paused for a moment, "Diplomatic... engagements," he finished, placing the words carefully.

Smiling again, he finished, "Well, you know Minister, we are interested in helping you too..."

Meanwhile, a few kilometers off the various coasts of the islands that make up the Trafica and Roen chain, the expeditionary fleet of Admiral Stafiev was preparing to make the first Pudite foray into this situation. The two-dozen helicopters that carried the third naval infantry battalion's first company were preparing to take off from the decks of a pair of helicopter carriers, loaded with the two-hundred men and twelve vehicles that made up the formation. They would take off in a few minutes, unknown to Mr. Voinich, to a position just outside the city of Miraculo where they would rendezvous with a squad of Major Tadui's Cataphractarii.

Mentira smiled at herself.
"Mr. Resault," she said firmly, "excuse yourself."
She trned back to Mr. Voinich, "At least the uneccessary planning will not be a problem for us then." she sat down and leaned back in her chair. A chill of ease went down her spine and euphoria took over.
"Mr. Voinich there a few things about our world that are important. Order is one of them, culture is one of them. Mr. Voinich the Intelligence and the Forces will have the rebel forces well under control, especially with the help of your army and Rygloen's army. There are, though-other...things that we must take sight of. The weakness of Mr. Toccuilq's government, the incompetence of the communist parliament. I want a strong nation, Mr. Voinich." she leaned forward. "Don't you want a strong planet, corruption drained from our pores, peace and order, a sprawling culture. Things happen, tragedy strikes, but it is all in due order. We must fight to keep things the way they are--these people...they dont know or care, they go about their daily lives trying to be freoo of worry, but now, oh now Mr. Voinich, these people have...ideas. They have taken to the grimy, filthy, unlawful streets, its like anarchy Mr. Voinich."
she paused for a wisp of air. She leaned across the table to Mr. Voinich, "I'm terribly sorry sir, do you have any idea what i am trying to say?"

Miraculo Docks
Thause was stiiting in the back of the van, while the others were up front. He sat, string ahead, looking almost bored. He sighed a little bit than turned to open the back door of the van.
Dhal heard and turned around.
"I'm going to scope out the docks." he said and Dhal turned to contiue talking with Schilling.
Thause hopped onto the ground, a miz of sand and small rock beneath his sandles. His closed the door tight, protecting the precious cargo. He looked around.
Some Forces guys over at the entrance, some over by an ally, chatting with some young hot girls. Intelligence officers sprawled among the crowd of people at the docks and some the boat drivers. Spiesat the market stands and across the street at an old shop.
Thause made his way down towards the water. People talked quietly. They were smoking--something that would have got you thrown in jail about 6 months ago. The gentle push of boats across water sounded so familiar, but nostalgic, to Thuase. The sound had change in the past 10 years, you couldnt hear the waves or the bustling markets or workers anymore. You felt the smog weighing down on the streets.

He looked far off into the distance. Over the ways he saw something, he squinted for a closer look. Damn, he thought. Those arent our friends, they arent pulling up like that. Damn, he thought again.

Emperor Pudu's navy sat around the island of Trafica, just waiting for the rebels to slip up.

They're waiting for me Thause thought to himself. He walked over to the market stands and snatched some fruit from and older womans stand for a few cents. After the revolution, if they were able to fight off the government, Thause wondered what would become of him. Would he grow old some war hero for the stories, or would hee hold some high-ranking position in the new government they hoped to establish.
What if they lost? Jail? What about his 13 year old daughter back on Roen, and his sister who watched her?
Thause had one daughter but the mother left soon after birth and Thause took on the duty of raising the girl. Her life only intensified his need to rebel and form a safe and non corrupt country his daughter could grow up in and could be proud of.
He headed back towards the van. No one had taken second glance at him. The Intelligence bookies hung around lazily, dazed and wary, but not on the hunt. The Forces men at the gate laughed like drunkards and probably sneered at the prospect of doing their jobs. The other Force men groped at the young girls, snickering and teasing each other. Thause hoped for a day when people would be proud to do their jobs and the worn down dreary streets of Miraculo would be refilled with their vibarant energetic old selves. He saw Shal waving for him to get back in the van. He unlatched the back and hoped in and Dhal said "come on over Thause."

Matt asked
"Whats it like out there, whats the next plan, remember we are sitting in a van full of stolen weapons and body armour, it will be a bit difficult to explain away if someone comes to investigate."
