Welcome dear reader to another astounding and insightful volume published by the ever prestigious Inter-Galactic Science Consortium. This edition speaks of the horrendous and completely alien invaders known as The Eternal Swarm.

Though highly fascinating to any scientist, and even the common man when kept a safe and non-threatening distance away, The Eternal Swarm, also referred to simply as the swarm, is comprised of several breeds each with a different function and purpose within the hive.

The new Hive:

After the events in the Omega and Theta Sector, a new Swarm has emerged, smaller in breed numbers but even deadlier than before.

From the top down:

- Infested Irene, self-styled Queen of the Swarm:
Irene is a very dangerous woman, being possessed of claws and Talons, wings that can become blades, and a scorpion tail with fully functional stinger, she is not something to be triffled with. Her Carapace is Metallic both in looks, and nature. She possesses several abilities, including the ability to use nearly every energy known, and can become a Titaness at will.

Tyrants: Tyrants replaced the Cerebrates entirely, but adopted their individuality and high degree of intelligence and Psionic power. They are armed to the teeth with multiple ranged weapons, and claws, and well defended under their thick Metallic Carapaces. They can become invisible, and if they die, the Overmind does not lose itself any, rather they embody what it is.

- Screamer-Killers: These creatures are a crossbreed between the Swarmling Guardian, and the Tyranid Carnifex. They usually stand at thirteen feet tall, carry a bio-plasma cannon, and have the disturbing tendancy to scream right before leaping on their enemies with their claws.

The sons of Khorne:

The heavy Infantry of The Swarm. Their claws shimmer with an unknown energy, allowing them to cleave through just about anything. They have four claws, and are heavily armored. They are also very slow to move, but very deadly if you get within reach. They do not seem to believe in ranged weaponry.

The sons of Nurgle: Just as deadly as the sons of Khorne, the sons of Nurgle spread disease, filth, and contamination wherever they go. They are large, wormlike, and appear to be very bloated, with open festering sores. They are next to impossible to kill, clinging to every last scrap of life.

The Children of Slaaneesh, just as deadly as their fellows, the children of slaanesh possess an uncommon beauty. Armed with sharp claws, and teeth, they prefer to use a whip, and shoot their enemies from a distance with Mysetic Spores, designed to enhance the targets nervous system, making them feel pain to a degree greater than normal. They are very slow about killing their enemies, possessing the ability to heal them just to make them linger longer in suffering. They never get into a Melee, and instead use their whips to fight from a distance.

The sons of Tzeentch: to be honest, I have no idea what one looks like, though I've stood in the presence of several. No two look alike, and none ever seem to keep the same appearence for more than five seconds at a time. I'd like to tell you what their armed with, but that seems to shift as well. The best anyone can accomplish, is that the sons of Tzeentch are ranged experts, and can use a variety energies similar to, but not as diverse as, Infested Irene. But not even that's entirely true. For I've seen several get up close and personal with melee weapons. The sons of tzeentch can also self-destruct in a massive energy blast.

All the Sons of chaos can channel Chaos energy, but it is slanted towards the particular deity whose influence they fall under. They also tend to blink about the battlefield, that is, teleport short distances, though the sons of Tzeentch do this most often.

Prophets: These loook like Ilithids, and evolve from the snake like Zealots, both breeds channel a degree of energies similar to that of a son of Tzeentch, but are non-combatants. They also commune with the gods on behalf of the swarm.

Guantlings: The Guantlings arose in a merge between the common breeds of the Zerg hives, and the Tyranid Hives. They can become invisible, and come in different sizes. Most are armed with a ranged weapon of some sort, and all have deadly claws. The sons of Chaos evolve from Gauntlings, though I have yet to determine what causes who to evolve into what.

The Swarmling Jet: All previous varieties of fliers for the Tyranid and Zerg Hives have been done away with. The Jet is to the Swarm, what TIE Fighters are to The Galactic Empire. There appears to be no limitation on where it can fly, being able to transition easily from atmospheric flight, to spacial flight.

It can use a variety of energies similar to that of a Son of Tzeentch, but less varied. It has been clocked going as fast as Warp 2, and possesses both claws, Acid, and a Blaster Cannon whose output is similar to that of a TIE fighter, or X-wing. It is also lightly armored, but it's scales seem designed to help it fly faster.

The Drone: Part Ripper, part Zergling Drone, The Drones devour the world, and maintain the Hive. They also mutate into The Hive as Necessary, adding functions and abilities to it. Irene and the Tyrants alone decide what it will mutate into, and they alter it's Genetic Material as necessary.

Broodlords: Broodlords sow the seeds of rebellion by inserting their own genetic data into a host. The host goes off on a quest to have children, forming a cult dedicated to the swarm. When the time is right, the cult incites Rebellion, which summons the Fleets to devour the world.

HyperSpawnling: Hyperspawnlings can exist without the hive for extended periods of time, and mutate into the various breeds of Swarmling.

------------------------

The Hive Ship: Long and seed-like, It's literally a Hive of the swarm in space. It's usually defended by a small brood of Jets, but can channel it's own energies thus giving it offensive and defensive powers. It can shoot large Mysetic Spores, usually as dropships and the seeds of a new Hive, both containing Swarmlings to infest and Invade the Spore's Target.

--------------
Rumors:
-The Pyramid of Chaos: I know nothing of these, nor do I know what it looks like. It seems sacred to The swarm, and heard them mention it only in passing.

- The Overmind: It seems there is something above Irene that rules the entire Swarm. I mentioned it once before, and though the swarm mentions it frequently, having had no direct contact with it myself, I cannot prove it's existence.

OOC: Feel free to post with questions or comments you might have, whether ICly, or OOCly. Heck, you could RP a fellow scientist asking the good Dr. a question. It's reasonable that anyone could have at least a few scientists in the IGSC. Either way, this is my factbook. I posted all I could think of.

Does the Eternal Swarm have any particular weaknesses? Or goals, for that matter, beyond the at-hand matter of feeding?

It's greatest strength, is also it's greatest weakness.

The Swarm has several long term goals. Currently, it's pursuing The great Old Ones.

The swarm heard a curious concept once floating along the various communications bands it listens in on, here then is what happened:

One day while listening in on galactic communications...
Two people were discussing Galactic conquest, a game where you control a civilization and take it in any direction you can imagine!
"They actually had a worldship! Man, I tell you, I lost that round quickly."
"A worldship? As in a ship, the size of a world? Is such a thing possible? A worldship, world, Hive, Ship? A world-Hive? But can something that large live? What possible use would we have for such a thing? Why, it'd swallow most medium sized worlds in only a few bites. It'd, yes... It'd swallow most medium sized worlds in only a few bites! A world-Hive! This is the greatest concept ever! To thank those two people, I'm going to eat their worlds tomorrow, and then, I'll begin growing a World-Hive..."

So eventually, when I pass one billion, I'm going to create a World-Hive.
