1. History.

New Darland was founded in 1775 by British colonists, looking for suitable locations to expand their nation's empire. New Darland was founded thanks to it's large base of natural resources, like oil, gold, silver & wheat. Most of the colonists were farmers or miners, thanks to the oil in New Darland not being discovered until early in the 20th Century.

New Darland provided large supplies of resources for the British Empire, and became one of the wealthiest colonies. Thus, Britain set up a governorship in New Darland, which the people elected. These governors are viewed as the ancestors of the modern day Prime Ministry.

New Darland officaly gained independence in 1960, and gained republic status thereof. The modern government was formed much like the British Parliament, minus a monarchy as head of state.

During major conflicts involving Britain or the USA, New Darland usaully sides with these nations and assists them. However, during world wars it is government policy to instantly state neutrality, much to the delight of the people.

2. Geography & Climate.

New Darland is located in the north of the Atlantic Ocean, near Greenland. It is generally seen as a 'travel stop' by the militaries of the US, UK & Canada, whenever making transatlantic travels, and are welcome with open arms by the New Darlander people.

The climate is generally quite cold, with 'Russian' winters as the populace desribe it. Spring is rainy, with summer tempatures usaully around 22 degrees celsius. Autumn is generally 15 degrees celsius on average.

The country is famous for it's Artic conditions in the north-west; with pengiuns, polar bears and the like calling it home.

3. Politics.

The government of New Darland is much fashioned after the British government. The House of Commons is the legislative authority in the country, with MPs elected by the people. The executive authority is exercised by the ruling party, currently the Liberal Democrat party. The judicracy is exercised by the courts of the land, with the General Attorney currently ir Rupert Smith. The House of Lords is much like the British version; execpt the House of Lords are elected by the House of Commons.

The Liberal Democrats, whenever they were elected in 2005, put in a policy of electoral reform which means that each MP in the House of Commons needs 10 thousand votes. This was widely applauded across the nation.

The economy of New Darland is often desribed as 'chugging along nicely'. Indeed, it is, being of the fatest growing ex-British colony economies in the world. By far, the strangest part of the economy is that, despite the extremely small size of the military, Arms Manufacturing is a major industry, and crime is quite low.
