November- 23- 2810 Polaris System The North Star Research and testing facility on planet Polaris III:

“Time and Time again humanity has ventured in to the unknown pushing the envelope of technology research and the human mind….”
Said a voice that came out from a door at the end of a long smooth and chrome hallway; the hall way it was deserted lit only by several small weakly shining blue lights. The soft angelic hum of nearby equipment reverberated throughout the long hallway echoing on the sides of the twisting metal way. The voice was that of a man, an older man the chief researcher of the North Star project.

This was the manifold nexus division of the North Star facility.
The doors suddenly open the older man walked out behind him bright waves of yellow and white light illuminated the hall and his white protective suit his feet clanked along the patterned metal plating on the floor.

The door swooshed closed automatically a split second later a hue of blue enveloped it sealing it in a force field. The man smiled with in his suit his visor polarized near black as he stared at the door. He looked down to his wrist, a small wrist computer about the size of a watch was blinking, it was time to go back to other work he thought to himself as he watched the blinking red light. He started to walk again leaving the strange bright room behind; he made his way through the long winding antechamber and through two double doors that shimmered open like they were never there.

He stepped in to a large well lit central room with holographic computer consoles lining every wall, and researchers and staff running around every which way obviously preparing for something big. The chief took his mask off; his grey hair was a bit permeated in sweat his toned face wrinkled up slightly as he spoke to the nearest researcher who happened to be walking past him.
“You there, how are the preparations for phase one going?”
The younger black haired man looked back and responded with an out of breath voice.

“We’re starting the final pre phase now it should be done within ten minutes.”

The Chief shrugged his arms crossed around himself as he looked up at the massive central cylindrical shaped holographic panel lined structure. This was called the Transcendence reactor, it was a massive device meant to store the combined energy of Transcended beings from a manifold nexus, it was also meant to use that energy to bring these beings to an entirely new level. Project North Star was the Terran Federations Secret initiative to crank out immensely powerful Transcends, with powers never seen in the likes of the universe.

The facility did not just house this project, but also a project known as garden and a project known as riotous lance. The Former was an ongoing project to enhance humanity to the point of evolution removing other mammals DNA In place of pure human DNA modified to be less glitch filled. The latter was a project to enhanced String disruptors to their next level.

Several moments passed, the room lights dimmed the chief looked up to the reactor and smiled, he saw a slow glow of light trickle in, turning brighter and brighter, suddenly an explosion of light filled the room, every one covered their eyes some ducking behind consoles fearing what was happening, the chief managed to get a strained look in to what was happening. The inside of the reactor was changing somehow the resonance of time and space began shifting the room began to slow, the Chief looked around his movements sluggish his eyes taking in what was happening somehow the combined power of all the energy was creating something in the reactor. The chief gasped… although it was delayed due to time dilation.. he realized what had happened, his movements became more sluggish as he reached for the control panel , he placed his hand down as hard as he could the time dilation becoming more severe as he got closer. His hand and body began to distort slightly.

He moaned out in pain, and then saw another researcher twisted and strung out in to what seemed like oblivion. The reactor was just a swirl now the remains of the researcher twisting in to nothingness, as his hand hit the button the energy stopped, and reversed the bright lights began to dissipate back to their respective tubes the twisting and dilation stopped.
The Chief and various other people sighed in relief, they clutched their stomachs and looked back up to the machine that almost ended them and could have wiped out the system. A feeling of despair waved over them, they had just lost a few good men to a freak singularity that formed because of to much energy in a single point.

While most were unharmed, the chief and the crew were ordered by the director at once to go to sick bay; the project was on hold until future notice. The TFMC garrison had secured the area Staff Sergeant Robinson stood at the main doors with a corporal and as private on either side of him, other marines inside. They carried SD rifles clutching them as they scanned the area.

Robinson had never been a man of science he’d always been a military man, he thought this assignment was just a place to put wild dogs like him out of action. While his service record was extensive and commendable, Robinson did on several occasions during battle disobey orders to do the moral thing it cost him a few merits and he was even NJPed at one point. But the man stood by what he did , so now several years later he stood guarding the Unions most prized project of them all. A project that could help tip the balance of power If It didn’t kill everyone first.
