The Allaneans triumphed in the first stage of the Blackhelm-Allanea war. Now, it was the time to pick up the spoils – and the spoils were Kergalistan.

The plan was simple. Messages were sent to the Muslim tribes of that nation. To each, the offer was the same: help Allanea take over. The Allanean rule, it was said, would involve local independence in all matters except for foreign policy and civil rights, and no taxes would be levied by the Allanean government. In return for their support, each of the tribes was promised money and weapons. It was suggested that they start showing their support as soon as possible by simply rising up against the government.

In the meanwhile, the government itself would receive an offer to surrender and be incorporated into Allanea as a state. 24 hours were given for consideration – but, unknown to the enemy, a flight of 50 Arbiter bombers was already en route to the country, far higher than air defenses could reach.

OOC: This is closed to foreign involvement except for the guy who plays Kergalistan. That said, however, you are free to provide media comments, IC criticism, and such. Just no being actually involved.

Kergali President Mahmoud al-Ghazi was very unhappy with the current situation. His nation was just used as a mere bargaining chip in a conflict he was in no way involved in, and now his nation was going to be invaded by a foreign power he has never heard of. Well, he was just not going to let this go.

Griffincrest was also not going to let the Allaneans take Kergalistan easily. As the Griffincrest mercenary divisions were pulling out of the country, several small groups stayed behind, some embedding themselves with the various tribes throughout the nation, and others joining up with the local Kergali National Army units. Together, they planned their course of events on how to deal with the incoming enemy bombers.

The entire nation was ringed by SA-2 and -11 batteries, and the Kergali capital had the pleasure of having several Kraven made Stratocannons in its area. The first task Griffincrest went about doing was ensuring that the SA-2's were able to provide a large enough spam to take down the Allaneans aircraft, a tactic which they learned during the last conflict, just recently ended.

At the same time, several tribes took up the Allanean call and began to rise up in arms against the government forces. Although the cities were able to keep the rebel tribes out, many rural areas were simply not as lucky.

And so, the initial phase of Operation Kergali Freedom had begun.

The SA-2 and SA-11 missiles are fine weapons, but they do have a weakness. Specifically, the SA-2 has a top flight altitude of 20 kilometers. SA-11 reaches to 10.

The operation was thus simple - the Allaneans crossed over the enemy air defense line, passing towards Akhbul. Within an hour, their bomb bays opened over the government's rear defenses in the area - the Allaneans preferred not to endanger the rebels with their weaponry.

In this case, this meant three thousand tons of elderly MK-82 unguided bombs, blanketing the area of enemy deployment.

LANCOV WORLD NEWS SPECIAL REPORT: Operation Kergali Freedom

"The situation in Kergali is devolving rapidly. It appears that Allanea has now bribed local Kergali tribes into rebelling against the Kergalistan government. Kergalistan is preparing itself for attack, and faces both an Allanean invasion and a rebellion by it's own people.

The government of Lancov said today that their offers of humanitarian aid to the citizens of Kergalistan have been denied by both factions. President Egarov also advised both factions to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict, although it seems at this point that there is no turning back now.

From Kergalistan, this is Sonya Papov, Lancov World News."

The Kergali positions were hit hard. It was not much longer before the rebels had managed to seize the city. This, of course, meant real problems for the Army, and their Griffincrest advisors. Instead of attempting to reclaim the city, however, they decided to allow the Allaneans to take it.

Once the Allaneans were on the ground, they would see the ferocity with which the Kergali defend their independence.

The Allaneans, however, had no intent of taking the city, so far. They allowed the rebels to take it, instead.

In the meanwhile, the Allanean strategic bombers came back again - now, with a flight of 200 Arbiters, loaded with GBU-39 Paveway bombs - about 20 of them per Arbiter bomber, or a total of 4,000 bombs. They avoided the capital, instead choosing to attack the SA-2 and SA-11 launchers themselves with the semi-guided munitions.

Many of the batteries were devastated by the missile strikes, but those that survived were quickly hurried off to caves and other hiding places. In the meanwhile, the Kergali's continued to battle the rebels all over the south of the nation.

Now, the Allaneans resorted to an aerial campaign. The entire national force of Arbiters, augmented by two flights of B-22s every day - to arrive in the morning and evening - would attack the South of the nation.

Every day now, the government positions would be hit by 43,000 tons of MK-82 unguided bombs. While the weapon was primitive, the Allaneans had 1,000,000 of these bombs in just one stockpile, and the weapons were approaching their decommission age anyway. They figured they might as well use them.

After two days of bombing, wherein 86,000 tons of munitions had been expended, the generals in charge contacted the rebels and asked them for information on enemy casualties. This information was cross-checked with satellite and bomber FLIR data to provide a rough estimate.

Slowly, government forces were being pushed further and further back, closing in around the capitol. Griffincrest officials, however, couldn't be any happier. The Allaneans were spenidn even more money than they had to, and Griffincrest didn't have to spend a dime.

Now, a request was sent to the rebels to stay back from the city. A single strategic bomber was approaching it from the South.

The capital city was ringed with Kraven made flak cannons capable of throwing projectiles well into the stratosphere. These cannons all began to spring to life while the meager Kergali air force took to the skies.

The bomber did not approach the city. Rather, it let forth 16 Tomahawk missiles, launched at the Kraven Flak installations, and two more, aimed at the city electric station.

Over the radio, a single pre-recorded message was transmitted.

Abandon the city. You have 24 hours. Bombings will then commence.

The city was also protected by S-300's. These quickly came online and fired at the missiles. The very low number of missiles fired had kept the Kraven launchers safe for now.

Baraj was formerly a Griffincrest run stronghold, and as such it was defended like one.

A second bomber strike was ordered, 24 hours later. THe people in the city had been warned. The rebels had been warned.

Hundreds of bombers participated in this strike, and their strike would be amazing in its power.

As they approached, they unleashed over five thousand Tomahawk missiles - all aimed at the enemy AA outposts.

The batteries were destroyed by the massive volley, and the government quickly made their way to secret bunkers as the military prepared to do battle. They had been informed of the Alllaneans cowardly tactics, striking far beyond their range, and had prepared well. Bunkers were everywhere, not just in the city but also all over the mountains and deserts of the country.

With the Allaneans firing their missiles from so far, it gave the Kergali forces plenty of time to make it to their bunkers.

The bunkers were completely useless, as the Allaneans observed the combat through allied satellites. But so far, that didn't matter. The Allaneans now returned to their bombing pattern - dumping 3,000 tons simple, cheap-as-hell, dumb-bombs on the enemy's military positions from beyond the uppermost range of most SAMs. The rebels would do the ground fighting.
