OOC: For those who have heard on the grapevine, I am making the jump to Future Technology. This here is my intro thread. Note to all MT & PMT nations that I still have outstanding RP's with: I will finish those with you, which is why my MT Factbook is still available. Also, Note 2: You will be ignored if all you want to do is invade. I'm willing to have small battles but as this is only an intro thread I don't particularly want my main cities turned to rubble before the night is over. That Is All. Thank you.

The Ustio System of planets on the outer rim of the Milky Way galaxy had long gone undiscovered by outsiders. The inhabitants went about their lives as usual, worshiping on Ustio, training on Hydria, constructing on Corax and eking out a living on the icy wastes of Antoben. They were blissfully unaware of the strangers that would soon approach the system.

On the southern edge of the system, the battleship (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Space_Marine_Battleships) Ryza slid slowly through the inky blackness, observing the mining ships come and go between the mining station Alpha-Omega-Six and the asteroid field A-2. It had been yet another uneventful day aboard Ryza. Aboard the bridge, Brother-Captain Gray stood, bored by the mining ships endless journey back and to between the field and the station. It could not be told whether Gray was tall or not, as his Dark Red Mk.VII Power Armour was not tailored to fit each Marine, just a general size much bigger than any human. But he was most certainly battle weary. During the opening days of the Reclamation of Antoben, Gray fought against the Tau invaders. He recieved several wounds, and they never let him forget that battle.

There was a hiss as the door to the bridge opened. It slid up into the roof. Another Marine entered. This one wore black power armour, decorated with skulls and wearing a helm in the style of a skull. However, his shoulder pad still bore the Raven and Blood Drop of the chapter. He walked up to Gray, removed his helmet and placed it down on a table nearby

"Brother-Chaplain Anais" Gray said as Anais turned to face him "What can I do for you?"

"Nothing Captain, I was just checking up on you - I know that mining duty often gets you down" replied Anais

"No no, it is most important to the Techpriests on Corax that we protect their precious minerals from the raiders" began Gray "Only, there are no raiders - so why are we stationed here?"

"It is not our place to question orders" said Anais, a steely resolve in his voice

"I know that full well, Anais, don't question my loyalty" retorted Gray "I just don't understand why they need the Ryza to defend a perfectly safe trade lane from non-existant raiders. We could be out exploring the Galaxy."

"Well, I will admit, the men are getting restless. They've been on duty now for a good six weeks without R&R" Anais admitted "Maybe I could speak with High Command about getting the men a few days rest"

Gray pondered this thought for a moment. It was true, since Raiders attacked a convoy of minerals moving from A-O-6 to A-2, the Ryza had been posted there to intercept them. Yet even their presence was keeping the raiders at bay. And it had done for about six weeks now.

"Very well" Gray said finally, turning to Anais "You would know them best of all"

"Captian" said Anais, picking up his helmet to leave. Gray turned back to the mining ships, once again watching them make their perilous journey.

Within the system there would be a sudden energy spike followed quickly by a gravatational rift. A large black hole had formed, blue energy arcing out and around it. A group of three ships emerged from it and the rift quickly closed. An Explorer, a Scouter, and a frigate. The Explorer was the first ship to move forward while the frigate followed closely. The Scouter broke off just a bit to take a closer look at other things in the system. Scans were picking up multiple energy signatures, looked like an inhabited system. Well there was nothing to do but puch onwards and meet the owners.

OOC: What does everyone got against the Tau, huh?

IC:

"In the name of the Emperor, surrender your vessel, and prepare to be boarded!" The message came through the vox-link of the single raider vessel as it darted away from the Angenterian Imperial ships. It was a light vessel, able to travel at high velocity, and it's guns could cripple most targets before they had the chance to strike back.

Most targets, however, didn't include the Imperial Navy.

Behind the raider vessel flew two Angenterian destroyers (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/6/64/ExorcistClassGrandCruiser.JPG), it's engines attempting to give chase to the raiders. But they were clearly losing the race. They were designed for shooting, not chasing.

The raider captain gave a slight nod to his bridge crew, and the vessel's warp-engines came to life, propelling it into Warp Space.

"Frak!" Captain Tobias shouted, as he slammed his gloved fist on the armrest of his command pulpit. "Calculate the trajectory, and give chase!"

"Yes, sir!" Came the response. The two Angenterian ships slowed down as power surged through their warp engines came to life, entering the Warp at the same trajectory of the pirates.
-------------------------------------------
A few minutes later...

The raider vessel's warp engines began to slow down, as the ship shot out of the Warp. In front of them was some sort of asteroid fleld. Good. That was just what they needed. Asteroids would screw with the Angenterian auspex scans, making them hard to detect. Unless, of course, the Angenterians were stupid enough to try to follow them in. The engines flashed, as the raider vessel shot into the asteroid field, unaware of the mining station and ships already inside.

"Sir, multiple energy signatures on long range scans!" called in a young marine sat at his scanning computer

"Can it Will, it's just the mining ships moving in and out of the field" Gray replied

"No sir, these ships are beyond the field. It's a little hazy, but i'd say one small craft just entered the field, and two larger craft are waiting at the other side" the scanner replied hurridly

"God, give me strength" whispered Gray as he walked down to the scanner "Let me see it, Will". The young man moved the screen to show Gray. He studied it for a moment, then stood upright

"By God, you're right" Gray said, astounded. He pressed a finger against his ear, activating the vox-link "This is Captain Grey. All hands go to battle stations. Prepare for intercept of unknown vessels. Chaplain Anais, come to the bridge"

As his booming voice echoed throughout the ship, the thunderous roar of hundreds of people running to their stations drowned him out. Pilots rushed to their Gunships, Marines grabbed weapons off gun racks and the ships on-board weapon systems flickered to life.

Anais walked into the bridge

"What -" he began

"Unknown vessels, beyond the asteroid field. Normal scans can't pick them up but those new long range scanners can just about make them out" Gray interuppted

Anais looked taken aback. He stood a moment, speechless. Finally, he found some words

"Very well, go ahead"

----------------------------

On the other side of the System, scans from Antoben began picking up an energy disturbance not far from the planet. The Tau, currently operating on the planet's moon Deno, picked it up first. They dispatched an Emissary Class Starship (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/emissary2store.jpg) to investigate the disturbance.

OOC: I used to collect Tau, before the badassedness of the Commisars got me into IG.

IC: "Command, this is Isen Dawn." The Nuubari class frigate had just dropped out of warp for a extremely vexing reason. Captain Firums held his hand to his forehead as he spoke from the command chair. "We were not informed that there was an asteroid field in our flight path." No response. "If it wasn't for the promixity security system we would have been killed!"
"Sir, one of the Relay Buoy's must be broken."
"Aye. Navigation, where are we?"
"Relatively uncharted territory. The Orum Conglomerate had been here untill about 4 cycles ago."
"So, that'd be why. They must have some jamming equiptment left in the field or something."
"It is possible commander."
"Very well. Launch a probe into the field, scan everything."
"Yessir." A few minutes later, from one of the underbelly hanger bays, a USP (http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z107/Kain1235/UAID.jpg) (Unnmaned Space Probe) dropped out, floated for a moment, then shot foward leaving an eerie green trace behind it, darting through the asteroids and scanning the entire field for signals.

The little Twilight class spy ship (http://premium1.uploadit.org/MaxOutrider/ShipImages/Marauder-Corvette.jpg) became visible, several AU out from the activity within the system. The vessel was one of two android-controlled scout craft dispatched by the Kitsune Empire of Xiscapia to initiate First Contact and generally explore the galaxy while keeping the military forces close to home. So far the mission had been a great success, with over half a dozen species contacted or at least recorded in the database, and a colony had even come out of it. Once more the artificial construct was confronted with aliens (or were they humans?) in this star system, and it knew it's programming. Initiate peaceful relations with unknown quantities if possible, and if such was not possible gather as much data as possible, preferably information of a military nature, on said unknowns.
A message was broadcast on all bands:
Greetings to the inhabitants of this sector of space. I am Unit 9511726 from the Kitsune Empire of Xiscapia. May I request a peaceful meeting to assess the viability of opening diplomatic relations?

"Sir, we've got an approaching ship on sensors. How shall we respond?" Said the tactical officer aboard the Explorer. The captain shrugged, "Put it up on screen. Tell the frigate to halt and the Scouter to stay close to us."
"Aye sir. Anything else?"
"No, let them come to us, pushing further may be seen as hostile."
Very quickly, all the Greywatch ships came to a halt, making sure that shields were on full. Weapons were deactivated for the time being, no need to get anyone riled up.

The raider ship continued it's approach, unaware of the ships scrambling to meet up with it. Their long-range auspex scans, distorted from the interference of the asteriods, couldn't pick up anything anyway. But the raiders weren't inexperienced. A life of piratry and raiding had made their senses sharp, and those senses were telling them something was not right.

The raider's void-shields came to life, and power surged through their weapon systems. They moved to the far side of an asteroid, making use of the natural cover.
-------------------------------------------

"An asteroid field?" Captain Tobias looked out over the thousands of rocks that churned around in an endless dance.

"Yes, sir, it seems the pirates have taken cover in the field."

Tobias sighed. Going in there after them would be suicide. The Angenterian destroyers were too big to navigate correctly in there. They would be torn up by the rocks. If only they had brought smaller ships. As expected, their auspex scans were too distorted to make anything out correctly.

"Sit tight for the moment." Tobias ordered. "As soon as it leaves the field, we'll find th-

"Incoming contacts!" An auspex operator shouted.

"More pirates?" Tobias cursed under his breath. They could have been led into a trap.

"I can't tell, the scans are being distorted. But there are unidentified craft heading this way!"

"Raise void-shields, and power weapons."

"Bloody hell" came the voice of the scanner operator "Sir, two more signals just came up on long range scans"

"What?" asked Gray, looking down at the screen "Where the hell are they all coming from?"

Anais came over to him "Do you think they are hostile?"

Gray shrugged "Could be"

The giant screen on the wall of the room lit up. A man's face appeared on it. He had a chiselled face, which appeared to taper to a point. He wore a peaked cap and an eye patch over his left eye

"Govenor Mirox?" Gray asked, puzzled

"Hello Captain" Mirox replied "I recieved the report that you had scanned several unidentified craft by A-O-6, and the King has ordered me to observe what happens"

"Does he no longer trust me?" asked Gray

"No, he wanted someone to be there in case this is a first contact from beyond our solar system, so you don't get trigger happy. I'll be landing shortly". Abruptly, the video cut out.

"Great" said Gray, pressing his ear again "To all crews, remain on standby but do not fire on any craft without my express order"

The drone constantly reported it's findings in a strange chattering (http://www.chienworks.com/~aramisangel/sw/sounds/probot.wav) noise, which the ships AI translated into english. It was relatively the same thing, stating what material the asteroids were made of before one passed by, extremely quickly, but it was enough to grab the attention of the captain.
"Isen, relay that last one."
"Detected. Non-natural space debris. Organic life detected. Structure indicates space station. Detected. Non-natural space debris. Organic life deteced. Structure indicates battleship. Unknown origin."
"Thats the one. A station and a battleship, eh? Orum Conglomerate?"
"No sir. Unknown origin." The AI spoke with an air of distaste. It did so dislike humans. "The library banks have no record of this particular build of ship, nor life sign. Although they do seem to be humanoid in genetic make up. Probably another race of you talking monkeys."
"What was that, Isen?"
"Nothing, sir." the AI said sweetly. "Shall I attempt to make contact?"
"No. Keep the drone in range, move it closer to the station. See if they fire on it or not. We can't call reinforcements without that relay buoy."

The drone finally gained a set course, making a beeline for the stations proximity, it's one laser cannon powered down.

Things were a bit hectic aboard The Affliction, a Death (http://img262.imageshack.us/my.php?image=galleonxq0qj9rg8.jpg)-Class Battleship and the flagship of the Imglotian 5th Expeditionary Fleet. Admiral Loki Wright, the commander of both the ship and the fleet, was sleeping, but his rest was soon punctuated by a scrambling signals officer.

"Sir!" The commander knocked at Wright's door which caused the admiral's eyes to open. He found himself staring at the ignited lights, and promptly closed them again.

"Report!" he called back groggily, but authoritatively at the same time.

"Possible incursion into Imglot space, sir! We have multiple unknown battlegroups, all ready to fight. Shields are up on -- hold on." Another messenger, junior to the sigoff, threw a sheet into his hands. "Reclassify, sir -- two hostile and powered up, one in observation, and several independent Intships gathering data, judging from emissions."

"How close to Tigeria?" Wright asked, sitting up.

"We're something less than 1 LY from Imglot, sir."

Cursing angrily, the admiral threw himself off of the bed and snatched his jacket from the hook by the door; he had been otherwise fully dressed.

"Light up all weapons systems on all ships. Shields up, sensors microwaving the targets -- everything." As he entered the bridge, Wright noticed a curious thing on his monitor. Tapping keys, he brought up an image on the massive primary display. There was no mistaking Greywatch ships.

"De-target those," Wright said quietly. The sensors were disengaged from Imglot's distant allies and sometime-acquaintances, and turned onto the remaining threats. Xiscapia also had a presence, judging from the message being received by their systems.

"Xiscapia," Wright said into his lapel mic, which transmitted into space, "this is the 5th Imglot Fleet. Some of these observers are VERY hostile. I recommend you stay on your toes, or if not, allow us to."

He then redirected to the galactic newcomers, who apparently had something to do with the mining ships that were scrambling around. "Fleet, we know not what to call you, but be aware that you encroach on the Immortal Lands of the Great Lord Tiger. If this is in error, we apologize. Irregardless, be aware that some very angry people have you targeted at the moment -- and we have them targeted in return."

The Affliction would receive a packet which allowed the android's voice, soft and lilting though nevertheless with a slight undertone of mechanical harshness, to be heard on the bridge of the vessel, should they choose to receive it:
"Greetings, Commander of the Imglot Fifth Fleet. I am Unit 9511726, an android of the Kitsune Empire of Xiscapia. May I inquire at to exactly which parties are, quote unquote, 'very hostile' and how I may avoid any unpleasant conflicts which may impend diplomatic relations with any parties?"

Wright blinked, taken aback at the transmission. Which are very hostile? Really?

"Sir, the transmission appears to be synthetic in nature." An ensign poked at some buttons on his Electronic Warfare station. "It's either machine or cyborg-made."

Sighing, Wright slapped his forehead with the palm of his hand. "Really, Sparky? You need me to tell you? Okay, here." His fingers flew across the holographic keyboard and like that, the coordinates of the ships which had further been ID'ed by their databanks as possibly Angenterian. "Okay, 'bot, here you go -- the ships with shields on full blast and their weapons visibly charging. I think that's a fairly concrete indication of unfriendliness."

"I can see why these ships would be considered 'very hostile.' However, if you make a close scan, which you may be unable to do, you will see a small vessel, probably a corvette class, fleeing the two 'very hostile' ships. Undoubtedly the 'very hostile' ships are in pursuit of this corvette class, and may be unaware or uncaring that they have violated the territory of another. Therefore hypothesis can only be drawn off insufficient data, which may lead to a false conclusion involving the 'very hostile' ships and their intentions. However, I am grateful for the data you have provided me with, and I will forward you any data my own sensors pick up in the area."

Amongst the larger warships that drifted through the area of space that so suddenly seemed so filled with warships of various degrees, few would notice the smaller ship enter space. It was tiny in comparison to the other vessels, a mere shuttle. It was painted in neutral grey colours, devoid of ensignia, weapons or any real life signs. However, once people began to scan the vessel, they would find a cloak, they would find shields and weapons. They would also find one statis chamber and a rather advanced propulsion system.

In the dark of the shuttle, nothing stirred other than a few lights flashing on various panels. In the back of the shuttle, where there should have been cargo, there was a large stasis chamber, filled with the frame of one Alversian soldier still in his battle armour, carbine mounted on the side.

Then, in the darkness, an image flickered to life. It was a female. She was shortish, smaller than the average Alversian, with a slender figure and short blue hair. This was not unusual however, as her entire body was a blue, translucent hue. She looked to the console for a moment and her blue eyebrows furrowed into a frown before looking to the stasis chamber. The green light above it turned to a flashing yellow and she gave a satisfied nod. For now, the shuttle would sit and watch. She would sit and watch until she had instructions.

"All crew have reported to battle stations."

"Void-shields are at maximum!"

"Lance batteries are armed and ready!"

"Lascannons fully charged!"

"Gunnery crews report missiles and torpedoes have been loaded and are ready to fire!"

The sounds of acknowledgments rang across the bridge of the Angenterian vessel, as the two ships prepared for possible battle. Tobias crossed his arms, waiting for anything coming their way.

"Captain, incoming battlegroup!"

"A pirate fleet?!"

"No, sir..." The officer paused as the auspex scanners ID' the newcomers. "Scans show that these ships belong to the Imglot Empire!"

"Imglots?" Captain Tobias said aloud. "What the hell are they doing here?

"Apparently, it's their territory, sir." The officer noted, reading off a transmission being sent to other ships.

"Open transmission!"

"Sir!" The officer shouted in affirmative. There was a small beeping noise. "...Channel open."

Spit break
16-11-2008, 00:15
The cold emptiness of space had seemingly got warmer as more civilizations are found within the galaxy. At the same time however new threats would also emerge, it was the job of ZAFT, the military arm of Spit Break to protect there civilization. Spit Break however was a name only in text books ever since that tiny nation from earth took to the stars many hundreds of years ago they settled on a new home Empyion, to preserve the Ecology of the planets in its territory only Agricultural production and housing were permitted on colonized worlds. The majority of people lived on space colonies, giant floating homes in space called PLANT's.

In order to find out what was going on in the galaxy a branch of the military's intelligence departed was created called the Deep Space Surveillance Department which used long range satellites and deep space patrols to explore the galaxy. One such patrol was the 17th Deep space recon group made up of 1 Phoenix class Battlestar (http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/ZAFT20/Nation%20States/PheonixClassBattleStar.jpg), 2 Tiger class destroyers (http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/ZAFT20/Nation%20States/tigerclass.jpg), and 2 Replenisher class supply ships (http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/ZAFT20/Nation%20States/replenisher.jpg).

While on patrol blips began showing up one after another from deep space from high powered sensor pings. On board the Twilight (Phoenix class) it was a normal day until those blips showed up. The officer at the control of the sensors saw the blips and then consulted the ships AI which oddly enough was named Phoenix just like the class of ship he was on "Phoenix, analyze sensors blips given current data"

"Blips are relative in size, shape and mass to artificially made craft ranging from fighters to battleships and space stations as classified by Article 4 of space contact"

"hmm, Phoenix can you tell if there all the same race or not?"

"From shape it can be guessed that there are multiple civilizations involved"

"Any weapons fire?"

"Energy signatures to week to tell from this distance"

"better report this up" he said quickly turning around to face the rest of the bridge "Captain, new contacts large number of ships baring Five-Two-Six mark Eight multiple factions involved hostility unknown" he shouted out across the bridge. The captain quickly looked at the projection of the region in the middle of the bridge. He then called for Phoenix, a projections appeared of the visual form of the AI, a woman in her mid 20's.

"Phoenix suggested course of action?" the captain asked as he and his XO observed the moving blips on the large projection. Phoenix walked around the table seemingly observing the same thing before stopping right beside the XO "fire up the FTL and jump in to check it out" she told them both based on all the programming that made up her "Agree'd put us at condition yellow just to be on the safe side as well I think captain" the XO added to her analysis.

The captain nodded his head "Vary well, Phoenix contact your counter parts on the other ships move the force to formation Y and have all ships prepare to jump." he ordered. Phoenix bowed and disappeared to carry out the orders, the ship quickly went to condition yellow which put all pilots on stand by and hanger deck crews prepare all craft for instant launch. Within the next 49 seconds the fleet was ready within the average time. The fleet then fired up the FTL drive, jumped and seconds later reappeared at the edge of the system.

"Interesting, and the others?"
"There's an Angenterian vessel, make that two. Imglots claiming its their space or at least close to their space... nothing new there."
"Their space? Whatever, I'll believe that when the final reports check out. What else?"
Well, there's the craft approaching us. There seem to be mining vessels near an asteroid belt further in. And we have at least two unIDed forces."

"Sir, more scanner contacts" reported the scanner operator

"Yes, I should have guessed" replied Gray. The door to the bridge slid open again. This time, a man of a much shorter stature walked in

"Governor" Gray addressed him

"Good day Captain" replied Mirox "I've called for backup, the Star Phantom's battleship Tyrant and her escorts will be joining us shortly"

"Why did you do that?" asked Gray

"Did you not hear the transmissions?" Mirox asked, puzzled "Although the majority of these ship appear to be friendly, a group of warships from somewhere called IMGLOT are claiming that this is their territory"

"What?!" said Gray, an anger rising in his voice

"Calm down Captain, that is why I have called for backup. These IMGLOTs seem to think they can claim the system and we won't do a thing about it, that we're pushovers" Mirox told them "You're going to be here to show them the error of their ways - by force, if neccessary"

"Well, it beats being a traffic warden" proclaimed Gray. Mirox gave him a stern look.

"Indeed" he said "I have already sent messages to those who have contacted us declaring the King's will"

"Which is?" asked Gray

"That we are to welcome others with open arms - and defend our home from any who try to take it" said Mirox

Wright's eyes widened angrily. Were they to be ignored? He called his navigations officer over, one Captain Michael Donus.

"Captain," he said tersely to the navigator, "Call up the star maps and check our relative position to the Tigerian system."

Donus nodded and stepped over to his station, which he linked to the main holographic display. Now superimposed in three dimensions over the visual feed which showed two corvettes following a pirate ship was a galactic star map. Parts of it were blank, but there was a large area known around a bright orange dot. Tigeria.

Several diagnostic messages showed themselves, numbers flashing in the corners of the display, as the image resolved. The computer plotted the current coordinates of all known Tigerian ships, and ID'd the others as possible; Angenterian, Xiscapian, and two unknown groups. Wait... there was one on the other side of this system.

The map zoomed in then, and Wright had a clear view of the 11-strong Imglot fleet, and the various groups arrayed about the map. Sure enough, Tigeria was in a system only half a light-year away. A tiny distance, considering.

Nodding to Donus, Wright sent the map to all parties that remained nonhostile. "I believe you have mistaken our intentions, friends," Wright said as amiably as possible. "After learning of the situation, we no longer seek to destroy anyone. It was but concern that this is very close to our home -- as you can see in our map, and you can independently verify on your own. We welcome a newcomer to the intergalactic world, especially one that will be our neighbor. That being said, any who engage in hostilities at this moment - the exception being our sometimes-friends, the Angenterians, engaging their fugitives - will be held to account for war instigation as defined by the Imglotian law, which is itself a derivative of Galactic Law, and we will cease hostilities of our own accord. We, however, will not attack unless provoked."

To Ustio North (ooc: sorry, forgot your nation's FT name D: ), Wright added, "Please, friends, stand down. We will be happy to open diplomatic channels. If you are to be our new neighbors, we must establish how far our lands extend -- we wouldn't like for you to come across a commander who is more short-tempered than myself and start a war. You are currently outside Tigerian territory, and we strive to make that clear. Please do not make rash decisions that will lead to bloodshed; our Navy has had that happen once too many times."

"Sir, transmission from IMGLOT forces" reported the communications officer

"Bring it up on screen" Gray told him. He watched the transmission, then pressed his finger to his ear "To all crew. Stand down from battle stations. All offensive weaponry will be powered down. Void Shields and Defensive batteries remain at full power"

He turned to Mirox

"Will you be meeting them?" he asked

"Mm, yes I will" replied Mirox "Ready my shuttle"

OOC: My FT name will simply be Ustio.

"No one is powering weapons. At least not within range of us, sir."
"Very well. Order to drone to send out the usual greetings message."
"Wilco."

A small holographic man, extremely out of place in the space station as he wore a 1800s style top hat and coat, appeared on one of the station's monitors.
"Greetings, unknown race. As this is presumably our two nation's first official contact, I welcome you into galactic politics. I am sent from the Void Templar Navy patrol craft Isen Dawn. As you may well be wondering why we are here, there was a major raider base in the area that we took out a few weeks back, and we were here to patrol the zone. Might a proper diplomatic meeting take place?"

Receiving Transmission...
TO: Unit 9511726, Kitsune Empire of Xiscapia
FROM: Govenor Mirox, Head Of Intergalactic Relations
SUBJECT: Diplomatic Relations

We would be happy to engage in diplomatic talks. It has been a long time since we had any kind of visitors. If you have dignitaries, please direct them to Yarrick Station, orbiting the moon of the second planet.
Responding with message...
Many thanks for your kind hospitality. I regret the circumstances under which I arrive, but I am sure peaceful negotiations can resolve any problems. I am en route to Yarrick Station now.
The scout rolled in space, turning to glide away towards the second planet, constantly scanning the area. If fighting started it needed to be out of the way: It was a spy ship, not a fighter, and possessed only enough armament for self-defense. The craft slowly approached the base, thrusters burning brightly in the inky blackness, moving to find a dock or hanger to land in.

We, however, will not attack unless provoked.

"Can we confirm that?" Captain Tobias asked.

"Yes, sir. It seems they're not lying. Well, not about their home planet's location, anyway."

"I see..."

"What shall we do with the aliens, sir?"

"Send an envoy to meet with them. The rest of us will focus on the raiders here."

"Yes, sir."

A transmission was sent on all frequencies,

To whom it may concern,
We would be more then glad to engage in diplomatic relations. Our envoy is standing by to receive docking coordinates.

"What about the pirates?"

"We have them trapped in there. Let's play the waiting game with them for now."

Wright wiped his brow, which had become sweaty without him noticing. Disaster averted. It seemed to be a hallmark of his nation to start fights through the simplest of misunderstandings.

"We also will be willing to participate in diplomatic talks," the Admiral spoke into his transmitter. "If there is an agreed meeting ground, I will be thrilled to personally join whoever should come in discussing the galaxy's state of affairs." He turned to Donus. "Captain, ready my shuttle, and a guard of four Champions. It's time to discuss politics. OOC: Ustio, what happened to the ship you sent my way?

OOC: Ah, sorry. I kinda forgot during the confusion. I'll do it now.

The Emmissary Class Starship floated slowly towards the source of the disturbance. Soon, three contacts appeared on the ships scanners, and before long were in visual range. The grey skinned Tau occupants began monitoring the ships as they got closer. They had sent a message back to Ustio concerning the disturbance, and had been told to send a message to any friendly explorers to meet on Yarrick Station. Shas'O Dynerah watched the ships from the bridge of the ship. He turned to the tall Air Caste sat to the side of him

"Send the message"
----------------------------

The small shuttle flew put towards Yarrick Station. The station, a huge Ramilies Class Star Fort (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Ramilies), hung in orbit above Hydria's moon Artorius. It looked impossible, such a massive station seemingly suspended in mid-air. The shuttle docked with the station.

Gray and Anais watched the conference room from their command centre behind a one way window. They could see Govenor Mirox inside, flanked by two Blood Raven Veterans. Anais spoke, but did not avert his gaze from the Governor

"You seem tense, Brother" he said "What is troubling you?"

Gray looked up at him for a moment, but Anais did not return the look

"I don't know" he said, looking back at the room "Something doesn't feel right"

A few minutes later, a Roc (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/8941/92421640yv6.jpg) VIP shuttle dropped out of the underbelly hangar and made it's way to the station. The captain sat in the back with 2 Marine guards.

Once the Explorer recieved the message, the Scouter was quick to dock inside of it. The group of two now pushed forward toward the coordinates provided. Once both were close enough, a shuttle was prepared and a diplomat was sent to the station they'd been told to meet at. So far so good. The shuttle exitted the Exlporer and made its way to the station, it followed all instructions given to it by its hosts and touched down where directed.

The scout set down in the designated landing point inside the enormous station, settling easily, black sides reflecting the lights inside, almost insect-like. The hatch disengaged with a hiss as oxygen escaped, cockpit raising, and a figure stood up inside of it, lithely jumping to the deck. It was obviously an android (http://www.konami.jp/gs/game/negima/vol1/pic/chara_chachamaru.gif), female, but this was not human. Aside from the two 'ear' appendages atop the head it, or for convenience, she, possessed a pair of large fox ears just behind them. Her eyes were a deep pupiless blue, teeth pointed like that of a predatory animal when exposed, but the most striking feature was the silky fox tail that twitched behind her, a vast, almost disproportionate plume. Her hair and fur appeared to be real, or such good synthetics that it could not be seen merely from observation that it was different, and she carried a katana sword sheathed in a milky white scabbard on her hip. This was her only visible weapon.

The construct bowed to whoever was waiting to welcome her. "Greetings," one could tell her voice was robotic, "I am Unit 9511726 of the Kitsune Empire of Xiscapia. Who do I have the pleasure of addressing?"

The Imperial Navy recently decided to change the look of their officer's uniforms, adopting pressed black uniforms instead of the classical green shipboard fatigues. All in all, it made them look a hell of a lot more menacing then before.

"Just what the hell is that?" Admiral Wright asked no one in particular as the space fortress - there was no other way to put it - came into sight. "How could a fledgling interstellar nation come so close to our borders with that sort of construction?" Shaking his head, Wright followed the hallways of the Affliction to its small hangar, which contained an Andromeda-Type Small Transport (http://howtobedolce.files.wordpress.com/2006/12/spacemarines_485.jpg). Waiting in the bay were four soldiers clad in Champion-Type Powered Armor (http://img33.picoodle.com/img/img33/3/9/28/f_Championm_3f58035.jpg). The Admiral nodded to them, and joined them as they filed into the small shuttle. The pilot promptly closed up and took off, and they made their way towards the massive space station.

Luckily, the Champions had been delayed at the door, or else their hanging rotary cannons would have been pointed at this man's head at the moment. Jumpy, were Champion jocks. Taking the man's hand, Wright shook it with an amiable smile.

"The pleasure is all mine -- ah, but is that not the proscribed response?" The Admiral shook his head. "Rather, allow me to say that pleasure is possessed by both of us, in equal amounts. That way, we won't have to waste time arguing about who has more pleasure in the simple act of making the other's acquaintance." Nodding to the perhaps bemused governor (Wright didn't bother looking), he made his way to the man with his arm mounted in a cast.

Knowing that they were on the other side of the mirror, Mirox watched it for a moment before taking to a podium on a small stage

"Ladies and Gentlemen" he began "May I thank all of you for coming all this way to be with us at this most...momentous of occasions. Ustio has long been devoid of life beyond that of the Humans and the Tau. Now, I hope that with our newfound friends, Ustio will become a much more diverse place. "Never better," Wright said in like kind. The man's bow felt awkward even on the receiving end, but the Admiral returned it with what he thought was grace. "It seems that not a standard interval (OOC: 'Day') passes without a new nation showing themselves in the galaxy, eh?" Wright nodded his head sagely. "Sometimes I think that the sheer number would be better served by a galactic republic, or federation..." That made something click in his head. What if... later. "A shame that the Watchman Treaty never truly came to fruition, is it not?" Had this lackey even heard of it? Wright didn't know. At that moment, though, the speech began. After the initial words were spoken, Wright stood up (for the purposes, everyone was sitting down).

He was nervous, gutwrenchingly nervous and the champange offered him at least some false security. He smiled at the thought of Lara here, for she usually loved functions like this. Give the AI a room with a captive audience and she could be talking for hours.

"Governor Mirox," Wright said in his most powerful oration possible, "I can say, at least on the part of the Immortal Lands of the Great Lord Tiger, that you bestow honor upon us for joining the ranks of those in the interstellar community."

"Thank you Admiral" said Mirox, stepping down from the podium "It has been an honour to host this function so soon after stepping into the community". He turned to Lieutenant Hamill

"Lieutenant!" he said, in a warm, booming voice "Tell me of Alversia, I have not had the pleasure of any other worlds or systems beyond this one"

OOC: If you're wondering how he knows Hamill is nervous, read this from my factbook (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=14213532&postcount=3). Alv, it's a semi-nod to one of your threads...

OOC: Glad I could help :p I've been meaning to redo my own factbook.

Hamill turned abruptly, jumping at the sound of the voice but relaxing once he saw that there was no maliciousness implied in the words. He was simply asking a question,
"Well, Sir," He decided to start from scratch, "Our population is around 3 billion currently, situated on Alversia itself and a few small moons and colonies. We are a totally democratic society who hold our freedoms and our rights above all others. We prefer peace to war," he decided to leave it at that for now, the complexities of Alversian society could be dealt with later. For now though, he was just happy to be talking,
"And you Sir," He asked hesitantly, "May I ask about your own people?"

"Governor, it is a great thing to find another friendly race. Meetings such as this are unfortunately becoming rarer by the minute.
"May I ask about your own people?"
"Please, do tell. Both the Grand Library and personal interest dictate a desire to know more about your race."

"A shame indeed but you win some, you lose some. As is the nature of life." Replied William as he returned to standing straight. He didn't see it necessary to continue and the host had just begun to speak to the group. William would've clapped but wasm't actually able to and so he just gave a nod. He then listened as the others began describing their own cultures and races. He smiled to himself seeing as everything was going so smoothly. He adjusted his glasses once more as he waited for the meeting to proceed.

"Indeed, it is a pleasure to finally meet people from outside our system. How far have you travelled to get here?"
"Many lightyears," The android answered simply, and went silent, watching the guests as they came in. She was pleased, or at least she knew her masters would have been, that there was an Alversian present, and she recognized the representative from the Great Lord Tiger and those from Greywatch. The lone envoy that did not match with any identification programs was the one who called himself Captain Maximillion Firmus. For now, however, Unit 9511726 was content to watch and listen. She would approach the Captain, and their hosts, later, unless of course they decided to come to her first.

Acknowledged, control. Proceeding to landing bay 6.

The shuttle proceeded to enter the designated landing bay at low speed, touching down lightly on the flight deck below.

The boarding ramp slowly descended from the ship.

"Ready?" Notham asked.

"Yes, Ma'am." Roberts confirmed, placing his black officer's cap atop his head.

The two officers descended the boarding pad, wand stood on the grating of the station for the first time.

"Well, the population is only around 1.7 billion people, but they are spread out across the four planets of this system. Ustio, the capitol - if you will - was the first planet that was colonised" Mirox said to the two who had asked "Hydria was the second planet to be colonised, and has become home to the great military academies and intelligence groups of the system. Corax, the third planet, is a Forge World, dedicated to the production of machines for War and Peace alike. Antoben, the final planet in the system, is a barren, icy wasteland, and it is constantly wracked by vicious snowstorms. On it's moon, Deno, and in some areas of the planet, reside the Tau"

He paused a moment, choosing his next words carefully

"We have held an uneasy truce with the Tau since the end of the War of Reclamation, when Imperial Forces attempted to retake Antoben and liberate the Imperial Guard still fighting on the ground. It lasted three weeks, before we were forced to call a ceasefire. Since then, they have continued to operate from Deno, and some parts of Antoben, though there is much unspoken hostility still coming from both sides."

"Welcome Sir, Madame" said the aide "If you would care to follow me"

"We have had encounters with the Tau. Not greatly with their main Empire, unfortunately, but mostly with some renegade Enclave. And you'll find that the hostility will generally last a very long time. Most of the colonies we've shared with the Tau have had a great many wars. Still, that's what happens when two firm mindsets meet, I suppose."

"The Tau who reside here, despite being supporters of Imperialism in this system, are a very knowlegeable people. Although their is much tension between us, the time between the War and now has brought us closer" Mirox said "The 9th Antoben Guard, the Planetary Defence Force for Antoben, often has Tau recruits and soldiers from the 9th also serve with the Tau. No Imglotian had had anything near to a friendship or even acquaintance with anything inhuman, and until they expanded beyond their first planet, that would never happen.

This made Firmus noticably more nervous. If he had been less experienced, or perhaps because he wasn't experienced enough (his only contact with the Imperium being a battle on the planetside of some colony that resulted in the Templarian navy being set back a substantial amount of time, staff and craft) he only just avoided breaking a sweat.
"That's rather interesting, Governor. Could you perhaps tell me more about your King?"

OOC: As you can tell, Templar's don't particularly like the Emperor, nor the Imperium, due to them being one of the few races that ever really got close to conquering the Templarian Homeworld. This could be veeeeery interesting.

"It's an incredible amount of time for a human" replied Mirox "No, there is no-one to legitimately take his place, so he ordered his personal doctors and scientists to keep him alive - at whatever cost - untill someone can legitimately take his place. Tracing a constantly evolving 200 year old family tree has been quite a challenge for the Archivers. And no, not all Kings have done this in the past. Unit 9511726 approached the Imglot Admiral, making formal contact with a bow. "Greetings, Admiral Wright," she spoke flatly, "we have spoken before, so you should remember me as Unit 9511726 of the Kitsune Empire of Xiscapia. Tough question. Wright was given almost complete access to Imglotian records, including under-the-table deals. Such included a mercenary contract from Xiscapia for a matter Wright knew nothing about. Point was, he remembered every stellar empire, nation, or planet's name mentioned. So...

"Formal contact is not quite the case, ma'am," the Admiral responded. How exactly was he to address Unit 91541242 or whatever? "However, the galaxy is a big place, and I, personally, think it's wise to know the names and characteristics of some of the bigger systems. And, I think you would agree, a world of Kitsune is not exactly a common site, furthering your Empire's memorability."

Especially considering that my superiors have never so much as seen an Imglotian vessel or citizen."
It almost seemed like Unit 9511725 was suspicious of him...but how was that possible? She didn't appear to have any emotions to speak of, and neither her tone nor stance were threatening or confrontational. Yet, this was an automated being, and who could tell what she thought or knew?
