Studio Braveheart has announced that they will release their cult classic animated series, Rosen Kreuz, into the international market after the success of Martin Brandt's Labyrinth overseas. Best known for their dark comedic and violent animes such as Lord Legion and Lionheart, Studio Braveheart has been one of the best known animation studios in the Ixanian Empire since they came into existence during the late nineties with their animes gaining much fame and popularity over the years. Even the animes they made several years ago still have plenty of fans. Today, they announced that one of their best known animes would be released into the international market after much rumors were spread.

Rosen Kreuz, which translates into Rose Cross from the original German, is the animated series about a father who seeks to hide his murder spree from his wife after he begins to kill criminals in revenge for the brutal murder of his child. It has proven that child murder and, indeed, the aftermath of death seems to be a favorite plot angle among some Ixanian animators who seek to create exciting stories for the masses. The series was born in 2007 and since then has gained a cult following for its mixture of romance and bloodshed. The series originated out of the mind of Albert Fröhlich who worked on the studio's prior projects and was first seen on Ixanian televisions during the late night hour due to its controversial content such as the significant bloodshed (including decapitations) which was explictly aimed at older audiences. Despite the blood and guts, it has gained plenty of fans for what they see in it as more than a mere action series with an emphasis on bloodshed.

As with many other Ixanian graphic novels which precede the development of their animated counterparts, a warning label about the content can be found on the fifteen graphic novels that comprise Rosen Kreuz. The series won plenty of attention from critics who praised its philosophical undertones, its dramatic romance scenes, and the lucid visions of its anti-hero which he experiences during the course of the series. Although plenty of Ixania's citizens are supportive of vigilantism, the series does not in anyway try to support the notion that it's perfectly fine to murder people as the creator expressed in interviews but he's also pointed out that he does support "letting Her Majesty's Government kill the criminals."

The series is also known for its heated romance scenes which contain some nudity but not too much to alienate the more morally conscious fans of the series. The scenes usually consist of the anti-hero making out with his wife or other people making out and so forth. The series' philosophical undertones generally allow the viewers to decide whether to support or dislike the anti-hero, Peter Volkov, whose surname ironically comes from a Russian word meaning wolf as the series portrays him as a ravenous wolf during his battles with enemies. Despite being Russian, his nickname is Der Metzgermeister which is German for Master Butcher as the series depicts him as well, a butcher of men. His targets are criminals ranging from rapists to members of organized crime cliques. He favors torturing his victims to death whenever he doesn't feel like cutting them down with one favorite method of torture being dismembering them when they are still alive.

The plot of the series is that the Master Butcher's murder spree attracts not only the attention of the cops led by femme fatale intellectual Valora Askiates but also the attention of a mysterious organized crime boss who sends out a man as equally sadistic as the Master Butcher to kill him. Valora Askiates, throughout the series, struggles with the notion that a part of her supports the Master Butcher while she strives to bring him to justice before the great battle of the monsters, between the Master Butcher and The Beast ("Das Tier") can be waged. Although she fails to prevent that battle, the series ends with Valora Askiates bringing the Master Butcher to justice by merely saying that he is responsible for the mass murders and that he died in the battle with The Beast who also died as well. The series portrays Valora as a child rape victim with a fanatical devotion to her work that draws contempt from some of her colleagues. Not much is known about The Beast other than that he refuses to harm women and children and that he is well known for being an emotionless killing machine who lives and sleeps in a vat of his victim's blood; metaphorically speaking of course. The series points out that Ixanian law officially frowns upon vigilantism but makes references to the face that many policemen, etc are sympathetic to the idea.

Albert Frohlich announced that the series would be released into the international markets this week and that he sees much potential with the series gaining success. He jested in an interview that the people of the Third Spanish States should take quite the liking to his creation and that it may, perhaps, gain more popularity than Labyrinth although, truth be told, he said that many Studio workers are fans of Brandt's series. The original soundtrack was performed by an Ixanian band with the name of Trinity which is well known for its mixture of industrial metal and grunge to form hit songs such as Never Woke Up which became a smash hit among Ixanian teenagers. There are other bands who contribute to the composition of the original soundtrack as well but Trinity is the foremost of them all. How will this series do overseas? We can only wait and see.

OOC: This anime is based on a merger of stories including The Boondock Saints (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boondock_Saints) and Nabokov's Lolita. It's a dark comedic animated noir filled with violence and romantic passion along with plenty of touching scenes of parent-child relations. As with the Labyrinth thread, just post reviews and so forth here.
