2008 Greali Presidential Elections

Later this week, Greal will be having presidential elections that will decide who will become the most powerful person in Greal. Many officials predict a high turnout and expect about at least two billion people to vote. Hundreds of thousands of polling stations will be open on presidential election day and will remain open for forty eight hours. Millions of police officers are expected to be on the streets as part of new security measures to protect voters. The following candidates are:


Martin Watson (Running mate is Frank Jackson)
Martin Watson is part of the infamous Watson family that has ruled Greal for twenty seven years, until Martin himself brought democracy to the people of Greal. After being elected president, he rebuilt Greal's infrastructure and improved its status in the world. He now seeks reelection. His running mate is the former human rights activist, Frank Jackson.

Will Riddle (Running mate is Joesph Dmitriev)
Will Riddle is well known in Greal and has served in many different positions. He ran in the previous election against Martin Watson and lost. Will Riddle accuses Martin Watson of wanting to bring back the dictatorship government, with him in charge. Will Riddle also was quoted to have said that he is the defender of Greal's democracy. His running mate is Joesph Dmitriev, another former presidential candidate.

The aftermath of a car bomb directed at the vice presidential candidate Joesph Dmitriev. The car apparently exploded as the convoy drove by. Police have been criticized for not checking cars along the convoy.

SASHA, GREAL - With only twenty four hours until the presidential election, violence begins to show. A car bomb directed at Will Riddle's running mate Joesph Dmitriev exploded yesterday later afternoon. Police officials say they do not know why the car was no checked by the bomb squad and there will be a full inquiry into the attack. Joesph Dmitriev is reported to have survived the car bomb, but hospital authorities reported that three of his bodyguards had died, and four more wounded. President Martin Watson sent his condolences to the family of the dead. "It saddens me to hear that this happens on the eve of the election." Martin Watson was quoted to have said. The police have been criticized by families of the dead for not checking the car properly, and now three people have been killed as the result of it.

Meanwhile, polls show Will Riddle maintaining his lead among in the rest of the world. National opinion polls show Martin Watson leading by three percent, but officials say that election will be tighter then expected.

When asked by reporters why he as a Rechburg citizen was involved in foriegn politics he merely stated

Mokastana and Greal have a long history, and many time Mokan forces have been deployed to Greal to assist in, keeping the peace. As you may know 90,000 Mokan Soldiers are stationed in Greal at all times at our two major forts, Mokan in Sasha and Carson in Wormer.

Now a operation such as the one you suggest would probably be easier on Mokan soil. The MBSA has agents inside the Mokan governemnt and could possibly convince the right people to have a "Economic summit" of key leaders. Which would bring them into our sites.

However, we have a different plan at hand and I trust your security is safe because the operation I suggest could be considered an act of war. As of now Martin Watson, Will Riddle, Raul Riddle, and even Sarah Watson are attending the Funeral of Lord Sumguy. All of these are high price targets to the MBSA, and very rarely does a chance arrive to kill all of them at once.

What we propose is destroying the flight that takes these targets back to Greal after the Funeral.

Ideally we would prefer a "mecanical failure" or "navigational errors" but time is of the essence. We have started to make plans to get a pirate force within the area where we believe the flight will fly over. Using AA and EMPs we hope to bring the flight down. It is messy, but unless you have an alternative idea, we may be out of options.

Official Statement

The Beatusian Government wishes to officially congratulate Martin Watson on his victory, and to say that we hope his rule spans many more years. We can think of nothing that would be better for the people of Greal than this victory.
