Thomas Roberts was tired of working in these freezing, southern Queens' tempatures. He was dressed in about seven layers, fit for Antarartica herself. His partner, Harry West, was beside him, looking out into the ocean which lay before them.

It was night, and no work was left to be done, though most workers were still outside, mainly smoking like they all did. Thomas took a long puff of his Windsor Slim, before Harry turned round and started at him.

"Why the fuck do you all smoke?" he questioned.

"Because, I like to smoke, now shut up," explained Thomas in a 'matter-of-fact' voice.

Harry was quite possibly the only person who didn't smoke on the Colombus. It was an oil drilling site south of Windsor Island, where in 1950 oil has been discovered, though it was a small patch. The Windsor Oil lasted for about a decade.

Suddenly, a large siren went off. Before everybgody started panicing, it stopped for a moment then went back on again.

"Right, today a massive discovery of crude oil was made 4 miles south of Windsor Island by Commonwealth Company of Oil, or COMCO," began the reporter, standing up and moving towards a screen. "It was made several minutes ago, and estimates are coming back that it may be much more than the Windsor Patch, and that is just a first estimate.

The screen she was moving towards changes towards a statistics screen, with a bar graph controlling the majority of the screen and a small pie grpah in the top right corner.

"Windsor Island is famous for it's small oil discovery, which lasted for a decade before companies like COMCO 'sucked' the oil out, giving the Queens Islands economy a massive boost," she said, as the graphs changed slightly. "However, it already estimated that this whole 'oil patch' south of Windsor may by triple, yes, I repeat. triple the amount of ol that the Windsor Patch gave."

The screen changes to video of an Ultra-Large Crude Carrier (ULCC), then a coresspondent blinks up.

"We've got more on this story from our Windsor Coresspondent, Susan Michaels. Susan, what does this mean for Queens Islands and the world?"

"Well, this Oil Container, as it has been dubbed along with other names, will bring..." began Susan, as the news report continued.

The ASoGM congratulates Queens Islands on their discovery, but warn that such a small nation broadcasting such a valuable find will invariably lead to bigger, more imperialistic nations demanding the oil for themselves. The ASoGM would be interested in acting as an intermediary in your exporting this oil to the world, if you have the interest and a price can be negotiated. This will protect your resources, while allowing the oil to go where it is needed or wanted the most. If you have an interest and an offer (we prefer percentages), please send us an encoded message in reply.

Another bit of bad news. That was all the Bulgian Communist Party had to say on it. 'Proper' oil discovered. If people kept finding the liquid stuff, and close to shore in previously developed oil regions, too, the price was never going to climb usefully, and that was no good for Bulgia's difficult tar sands.

Domestically, the story was covered up, saved for later. It may be useful in future, should the local economy ever fall. Someone would need to be blamed.

The Kingdom of Bardar congratulate Queen Islands and welcome them to the oil producing community. The Kingdom of Bardar is also ready to offer military assistance if any nation is threating Queen Island's oil resources. We congratulate you on your find. However, we have seen several dozen other finds like this immedietly contested by foreign powers and thieves. For your protection we will dispatch a suface action group into international waters near your oil strike.

We have no interest in taking what is yours and this naval force will in no way threaten your interests. Rather, this fleet is tasked with the protection of your find and your shipping.

The presence of a power such as the MIGHTY Colonial Navy should be enough to drive away most foreign nations' interest in stealing your find.

Southern Queens Islands

The Blubland Colonial Navy had dispatched a surface action group from its Southern Hemisphere Joint Command HQ. The taskforce consisted of several dozen advanced warships with Joint Command Support. This taskforce was currently approaching international waters near the Queens Islands and would remain in international waters to avoid some sort of international incident.

Taskforce 27

Rear Admiral Vribbit sat on the bridge of BCN High Tower, a Super Nimitz class aircraft carrier. High Tower formed the "longbow" contingent of Task Force 27. With Battle FA.1 and navalized versions of the F-77 Zulu (F/A-77) sitting on her deck in neat rows, wings folded, she was capable of quickly reacting to any situation.

The reinforced plexiglass was somewhat foggy due to the colder weather, dimming the sunlight entering the bridge. On a large screen against one wall, small green blips slowly moved about, indicating friendly fleet and air assets in the region. Already, a CAP of 6 F/A-77s were in the air and on a medium radius patrol.

Under Joint Command a pair of Air Force F-28D Green Eagle Squadrons were nearby, following the fleet at about three hundred miles. These Squadrons #112 and #25 were tasked with protecting a group of AWACs and tanker aircraft. The tankers would occasionally move off to one side to refuel a group of aircraft while the AWACs maintained a constant vigil.

Forming the tip of the 'spear' contingent of the taskforce were Nemesis and Donaldson class cruisers. A mixture of air defense and attack, their sophisticated towed arrays constantly on the alert for enemy submarines, they prowled approximately 15 miles ahead of the fleet.

Rear Admiral Vribbit glanced at a monitor and yawned before speaking to the crew on the bridge, "We've seen too many small nations like this get attacked for their oil boys. Lets not have it happen on our watch."

OOC: (1)Angelfire misslies explode spreading gas everywhere that continuosly burn like greek fire the flames turn blue then slowly red. Very useful against aircraft carriers burns their deck so no plane can land

Unfortunately for those commiting what had now been dubbed as 'Bastard Alpha' by several military privates, there was, as usaul with major Queens Islander oil discoveries, several HMCS destroyers sailing around, along with a transporter full of Commonweallth Marines.

A statement had to be made, not likely that pirates would listen though. Prime Minister Asmolach II watched as the MIGS left for Queens Island. Good there were many other governments ready to protect the new oil nation. Bardar still faced problems with the National Syndicate at home, but would survive without parts of the airforce. The newly rebuilt airforce was something of a pride for the Mountainous Kingdom, a way to intervene in conflicts far from home. Once Bardar had been a victim of Rogue Nations, and been able to fight them of, noe Bardar could help protecting other sovereign states and their resources. The Prime Minister was himself young and new at his post, but he knew that Bardar's future was a more active foreign policy. The MIGs would patrool the coasts of Queen Island and destroy all pirates and other hostile forces in the area. As the Prime Minister left the airport at the Secret Military Base, and reentered his office he thought; "war, war, never changes". That was the fate of the Kingdom of Bardar.

Queens Islands, International Waters

A Navalized Sparrow X-2R (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13349344&postcount=36) tagged as Little Bird winged further south. It approached within several nautical miles of Queens Island territoritial waters, but never broke the barrier as it maintained a patrol.

The two seat recon version of the X-2 buzzed along at a lazy 250mph to maintain its endurance. The Blub in the forward seat was in control, looking all around while maintaining navigation. Behind him the EO studied his instruments and remarked, "It's starting to get a bit crowded out here. I've got an unknown naval force approximately 300 miles south. I'm also reading air contacts."

"Locals?"

"Seems they have a few ships out too. I'm detecting some weak contacts over the islands which are probably locals. Looks like they're moving to intercept the southern naval group."

The X-2R dipped lower to a comfortable altitude of 15,000 feet and began to cautiously approach the developing situation.

The FNS Prophet, a ultra-modern destroyer made just years earlier, sat by, watching the navial vessels of the different nations staring at each other coldly. The sight of it sent a shiver up the spine of 44-year-old General Khali Bin Asif, who had entered the navy twenty years ago and had seen the sight of many battles.

"Any orders, sir?" asked a young private by the name of Muhhamed.

"Yes," nodded Khali. "Make sure all gun turrets, launchers and the rest are ready. This might get violent.."

"Yes, sir," saluted Muhhamed, before running back into the room which he had just came out off.

"Here we go again..." muttered Khali to himself. His 7 foot figure regularly terrified his comrades, never mind his shot with an AK.

The Commonwealth took little interest in Queens Island's discovery of oil and even less interest in the attempts by the The United Government to take said oil. However, one thing the Commownealth did take interest in was the presence of so many ships on the verge of open combat sitting so close to several key shipping routes. Due to the fact that Tolvan was an island nation the security of thses SLOCs was considered to be of the utmost importance to national security. As a result His Majesty's Government had opted to deploy a small task force to the area to keep an eye on things and keep the fighting away from any ships flying the Tolvanic flag in the area.

The Bardarian 2nd and 3rd Airborn Regiments were based on a tiny island nation not far from Queen's Islands ready to strike The United Government fleet if necessary. The small nation that had allowed the Bardarian armed forces to use their airfield as a base was a nation heavily influenced by the Opium Riing. The Bardarian pilots couldn't wait for battle, a Bardarian warrior always dreamed of blood and glory. The Bardarian Airborn Regiments used MIG- 31;s, all stolen or bought on the Black Market. On each plane was a pilot and a Weapon System officer. Soon The United World Government would face the consequences of their reckless behavior. One of the Bardarian pilots; Jilgar Kwedreq murmured; "The United World Government, sounds Marxist to me, the best commies are burning commies".
