((OOC: My country map is taken from the Texas state map, I just cut off everything east of the panhandle. Still trying to figure out how to put the picture I made up.))

Demonym: Tiuraboan.
Currency: Creency.
Topography: Heavy forest in the west, hilled plains in the north, tropic or more accurately, coastal area to the east and south, with larger concentration of moderate forest in the south. There is a sizable mountain range in the central-western area, beginning with arid hills in the west, to cold, but not snowy mountains farther to the east.

Unification.

Events began when the two powers in control of most of the nation, more of an region, East and West Parengaya, went to war over supreme control of the entire country. They went to war mutually, but for different reasons. In the East, a monarch despot ruled, and in his hunger for more land and vassals he struck at the West, whereas the West fought out of a desire to assimilate the eastern portion for the good of both factions

This particular story starts when Cain Tiurabo, a mighty general of the Eastern state, fled his home nation with a few hundred loyal soldiers, directly after an assasination attempt by his monarch, who was jealous of his popularity in both the military and civilian population. After a few months of meandering travel over the wide mountain range between two warring factions, he found himself at the gates of one of the city-states opposed to his former master. He entreated the lord of the city to aid him, and understanding his plight, the lord gave him a contingent of pioneers and laborers, as well as an estate to work with, out on the unsettled are on the border of Eastern and Western Parengaya.

Tiurabo quickly established his home, a modest settlement on the outskirts of his new master's land. He then set about bringing all the city-states in his reach under his dominion. After a decade, his was the wealthiest and most powerful city in the region, controlling one of the few passes through the mountains. Effectively, he owned everything within several thousand miles of his fortress, including many smaller settlements and towns that were supposedly controlled by the two factions. He had an army that could contend with either East or West in training and numbers, and a grudge to bear against the East.

Under the pretense of uniting the two Blocs under the control of the West, he marched over the mountains. His elite troops made short work of the defenders at first, leading a campaign of short, decisive battles and surgical strikes that quickly drove enemy morale into the ground. Soon after, he took the Eastern capitol. Instead of handing the nation over to his master, he proclaimed himself Lord Tiurabo, and demanded that his former master hand over his crown. Seeing no other option, the man did so. And so Cain Tiurabo came to be the ruler of a nation named for himself.

Rebuilding

Cain turned his attention to building up the infrastructure of his nation, as well as his military, with more modern technology borrowed or bought from foreign countries. Now both are at an unprecedented peak. Several large cities have sprung up in a few short years, the result of overcrowding in already formed settlements. Military infrastructure has been revitalized by the newly formed airforce, as well as through new, foreign weapons and trainers brought in for the purpose of modernizing the army. Also, there have been scientific developments in Tiurabo's military, bringing the nation to the status of slightly more than modern.

The Bushmaster Adaptive Combat Rifle is the preferred weapon of choice for the Line ground forces, while the Strike Special Air Service uses the Bushmaster ACR and XM8 interchangeably, depending on personal preference.

Civilian life.

Most of the so-called civilian population is actually in the reserves, with 80% of all males between 20 and 45 years in the Reserves, 60% of females of the same age. Tiurabo is probably what would be referred to as Free Market Capitalist, with most wealthy individuals having made their way through either political or business savvy, or, more likely, pure grit and determination.

One widely accepted custom, used as a rite of passage into adulthood by some traditionalist families, is known as the March of Cain, where one travels from the former Eastern capitol of Argenta, now Chadswick, over the plains and mountains, through the forests and hills to Coleridge, renamed Cainrest, the former Western capitol, and the current Tiuraboan seat of power. A journey of nearly six hundred miles, the same voyage Cain himself made when he was a young man. Of course, these days there are several small cities between the two points, and a person is awarded points on time, resourcefulness, distance traveled a day, and how many times they stop at a community to rest.

Otherwise, civilian life proceeds much as it does elsewhere. The economy is thriving, and while there are some restrictions on civil rights and political allowances, no one can grumble too much, what with life being so good for most people. Unemployment is too high for anyone to like, but steps are being taken to fight this problem.
