The People's Republic of Kayeliya has threatened to invade our borders. Just yesterday, KGB has confirmed the presence of Kayeliyan Army elements on in the Priprovorsk Valley on the border of Kayeliya and Novistrana. While their numbers are unknown, their intentions are clear: to invade the Soviet Republic of Novistrana. I have attempted to contact President Vladimir Goluyev of the Kayeliyan government, but all attempts to negotiate have failed. By the looks of satellite photos, the Kayeliyans' numbers are growing. For this reason, I am authorizing a counter-invasion of the People's Republic of Kayeliya. I will send the Novstranian Army to the border to root out the Kayeliyans' forces and furthermore, push into Kayeliyan territory. I ask for assistance from the international community to stop these imperialists and overthrow their regime.

Kayeliya is a Maoist, communist republic with mostly a Ukrainian population. Ukrainian is the official language, but Chinese and Russian is also widely spoken. The capital and largest city is Vorablensk, with a population of 1.2 million. Other major cities include Dzernoye, Sevastopol, and Pravran. The country's major industries range from mineral extraction to oil production, along with industry and manufacturing in the major cities. The Pripovorsk Valley, where Kayeliyan troops are stationed, is a known strategic oil deposit. Much of the country is covered with forested mountains with snow almost all year due to the country's Arctic climate. Due to sales by unknown collaborators, the PRK has its hands on several Scud launchers tipped with nuclear, biological, and chemical warheads. The government is currently in conflict with Russian paramilitary groups (which the Novistranian government is supplying weapons to) seeking autonomy from Kayeliya and for control over the Pripovorsk Forest.

Factions in Kayeliya
The Kayeliyan Military: Ukrainian soldiers loyal to the Kayeliyan government. Consists of MVD, NKVD, Motor Rifle Forces, Armored Forces, VDV, helicopter forces, Kayeliyan navy. Found in all major cities.

The Novistranian Red Army: Russian soldiers loyal to the Novistranian government whose mission is to topple the Kayeliyan government for attempted invasion and to support the Russian paramilitary groups. They may be outnumbered, but they have better military equipment than the Kayeliyans. Their base of operations is in the Kayeliyan-Novistranian border.

Kayeliyan Liberation Army: (KLA, not to be confused with the Kosovo Liberation Army) Ethnic Russians in Kayeliya fighting for autonomy and control over the forest. Backed by Novistrana. Small fighting units, but effective guerilla fighters. Based in the Pripovorsk Forest.

"Duty": Ethnic Ukrainian paramilitary based in forest-bordering cities like Dzernoye. They seem to be backed by the Kayeliyan military. It consists of civilians mostly, and use Western weaponry. Limited communications, but has a lot of popular support. Their goal is to put down the Russian rebels attempting to gain autonomy.

To all forces who want to assist the Novistranian Army: The Kayeliyans know of our plans for invasion, and are sending their armies south to the Novistranian border. I am requesting all international forces to be stationd at the Novistranian base at the town Svernaye, located 5 miles from the border. We must strike the Kayeliyans with surprise and speed. Wait until I give the order to commence the attack.

A) At the capital city of Kayeliya which so happens to be a port city.

B) The eastern coast of Kayeliya, where Duty forces are fortified.

We recommend option B, since we want to push our way into the capital instead of storming into there right away.

Due to major snowstorms and blizzards in the border area, all forces are being advised to get inside the buildings and wait the blizzard out until the snow and wind calms down. Temperatures are expected to drop below -20 degrees Celcius and the expected snowpack is at least 3 feet. Keep guards at watch at all times of the Kayelians will use the blizzard to their advantage.

I have been monitoring the situation and do not plan on involving myself in which looks to be a brutal war but may I offer some advise? I advise yo to use the blizzard to YOUR advantage by flanking them. They apparently wouldn't expect this type of strategie from you and would catch them off guard. If the conditions are to severe for ircraft send a small reconnaisance team to pick up any strategic information on the advancing Novistranans. Good day and good luck.

Comrades!
It's speaking to you the General of Workers Red Army and Supreme Chief of Ministry of Defence of our strong socialist motherland, comrade Ugovsko. The situation is evolving in worst: the false-communist governament of Kayeliya is gettig to prepare a mass destruction attack against Novistrana borderline. The STASI, our all pervasive political police, has discovered that not only a lot number of soldiers is preparing to cross the woods to Novistrana but is really near to end the construction of that ballistic and missiles launch sities (about them we have posted the satellite photo from rumanovic satellite system Soyuz-Pro1).
For now we don't want to send great number of divisions and soldiers in this area because:
1. we want to have a map of the region;
2. we want to know where is a secure airstation for the landing of our airship;
3. we want to know how many troops will be stationed here.

For the moment, we will send the so called "Stalin's Falcons": a special division of also rumanovic helicopters whit special weapon. These helicopters are equipped whit the Zykloru gas system; it's a special device that permitt to spread a gas that paralize for 45 hours the enemies and can contaminate fo a time of 60 hours all military equipments creating a layer of powder on all surfaces that irritates the skin.

The division is formed by 35 helicopters escorted by 15 MIG-25 (for this purpouse we want to know where is located your novistranian allied airport).

General of Workers Red Army and Supreme Chief of Ministry of Defence,

A small Squadron of Blackhawk Helicoptors flew through the blizard, each holding a four man squad of Gamma Force soldiers, with 6 helis thats 24 men.

"This is Alpha Romeo Two-Niner to Homebase, over. We have reached the 2km point, cutting transmissions in one minute."

"Understood, good luck. Over and out."

First in, last out. The Marine Army was the latest branchild of the Anemonian Holy Office of War, and the Milits Marini as they were known, had been sent into action with the carrier force. Their mission was to see if the Novistranans were bluffing, or if their allegations were, in fact, correct, and the Kayeliyans were actually building up strength to invade Novistrana.

The Marine Agressive Reconnaissance Complements were designed to work in small, well supported groups, and so their transport helicopter of choice was the Mi-24V Hind attack helicopter. It roared overhead, and as it began to lower itself, the Marines inside the helicopter holding their FAMAS rifles tightly, the pilot shouted out the one word they did not want to hear. "Missile!"

They managed to evade it, thankfully, because it was an RPG, not a SAM, but not willing to take chances the Hind immediately pulled back, and after dropping the Recon unit, it quickly disappeared leaving the Marines in the cold, barren wasteland. As the blizard raged, the Marines moved quickly towards cover.

Eight hours later.
Finally, it happened. As the sentry, lying at the mouth to the cave they had found, peered through the scope of his M82 Barret, he saw a man wandering along. He was carrying an AK-74, and looking carefully the sniper saw that the man was not wearing Novistranan colours.

No, he was Kayeliyan. And he, along with the Marines themselves, were illegally in Novistranan territory.

It was time to get out.

The Blackhawks landed and the Gamma Force soldiers quickly got out and began to secure the area

"Sir, we have visual confirmation of seven men, fanned out over 6 metres, coming towards us. Fifth Element reports that the path to the extraction point is secure, and all of us are in position."

"Kill six of them. Take one alive."

The only warning the first man had that the enemy was near him was when he saw blood pouring across the ground. He looked around, confused, and a second later he collapsed as he lost blood. The next man, seeing his teammate collapse, immediately began to look around, wildly searching for an enemy just before his head was blown open. The others scrambled away, ducking behind trees and hiding in the snow and as one caught sight of one of the Marines he opened fire.

Thud. An M40A1 fired once and as the round sped through the air, it smashed through part of a tree trunk and smashed through a man's head and soon there was only one man left. He was cowering, terrified and as he heard rustling he opened fire with his rifle, firing wildly into the air. "No! NO!" he screamed in Kayeliyan. "I DON'T WANT TO-"

"Fermitis tei kudintyr." muttered the squad leader in Anemonian as he placed his hand over the man's mouth, holding it there until the man collapsed, gurgling.

"Get Intyrnant Karymit back, and move out. Tell HQ that our ETA at the extraction point is 7 minutes."

"Understood, Major."

The Gamma Force soldiers threw themselves to the ground as they heard gunfire. After a few seconds they headed towards the sounds of it in a highly defenseive posture

The Hind helicopter landed near the trees and as it touched the ground the Marines rose from the ground, scrambling into the helicopter and as the last man hauled himself in he shouted "GO!" The helicopter rose, but as it did so the pilot shouted "Heat signatures to the south!"

The Soldiers heard the Rotor blades and looked skyward

Red Army Command
General Kapalkin met with the commanders of Operation Patriotic Glory.

"Men, the Kayeliyan army has been hiding out in the woods on the hills at the mouth of the valley, the Pripovorsk Gap. Intel from Rumanovia shows that they have at least 2 companies worth of infantry, BMPs, and a lot of trucks blocking our only route into the country. They've stationed 2 Sa-13 Gophers on the surrounding hills and a bunch of ZSU-23-4 AA vehicles at this firebase by a dozen 2S4 Tyulpan artillery pieces. Our plan is to strike through enemy lines and take out the firebase before they cause us any problems. Take no prisoners. Dismissed!"

The Novistranian T-72M1s and Mi-35 Hinds rolled out into the Pripovorsk Gap. The blizzard had cleared, with everything under at least 3 feet of fresh snow. The tanks easily plowed through it as the infantry followed. When the forces approached the forest, however, the Kayeliyans were waiting, using the logs and trees for cover. Kayeliyan RPG-7V troopers fired upon the Novistranian light armor, disabling two BMP-2s. In response, the Novistranians rushed out and opened AK-74M fire on the well-entrenched Kayeliyans. Supported by BMP-2 cannon and machine gun fire, the Red Army managed to break through the Kayeliyan lines, paving the way for Soviet heavy armor. The Mi-35s did little help here with much of the fighting taking place under forest vegetation. However, they did manage to shoot down several Kayeliyan Mi-8s delivering fresh reinforcements to the battlefield. The T-72s started engaging the Kayeliyan T-64s with overwhelming superiority des[ite being outnumbered. Due to the trees being in the way of their line of fire, the Sa-8 Gecko SAM vehicles opened fire on Kayeliyan positions, blowing up the Kayeliyans' communications post by the creek. At the firebase on top of the hill, a convoy of BTRs and Ural 4320 trucks managed to deploy a company of Novistranian troops at the entrance of the base. Sporadic gunfire could be heard five miles away back at base, where the BM-22 Smerch MLRSs fired three salvoes of rockets to the Kayeliyan firebase. Artillery shells managed to land right in front of the Novistranian positions without causing friendly fire, as they destroyed the Tyulpan artillery pieces using demo charges.

We, the Mercanary Camp of Avoya, would like to offer our assistance. normally the cost of a company of marines is $500 000 per week, with an aditional $20 000 per man lost. however, in the interest of good will between our nations, we have sent in 3 companies of infantry, and armoured spearhead of 10 Bradleys, 2 M1A2s, and several mobile artilery units, finally we have sent in a squadron of Tin Men (wearing BERP armour, and equiped with miniguns and Railguns) deep into Kayeliya, to provide forward reconaisonce.

What would you have our men do?

We have broken through enemy lines at the head of the valley but there is a substantial number of Kayeliyan forces in the Pripovorsk Forest. They will be using the environment to their advantage. We recommend that you send infantry units out into the woods to find and follow any enemy vehicle tracks in the fresh snow. Helicopters are vulnerable in the forest, as Kayeliyan AA troopers can easily shoot down choppers under the cover of the dense trees. We recommend that all vehicles are guarded by infantry and helicopters come with escorts to clearings throughout the forest. The Kayeliyan military is in a defensive position with fortifications spread through a 10-mile gap in between the mountain ranges that contain the valley. One base is placed evenly for every two miles in between the southern gap, so we request that all 5 bases be eliminated so that the Kayeliyans will be forced to retreat to the city of Dzernoye at Lake Pripovorsk, situated at the center of the valley.

"Go!" The Anemonian Marines hit the ground as the Leclerc tanks rolled by, taking the enemy fire and as they fought the enemy defence back, an AC-130 flew overhead. It began to bombard the valley, circling around the enemy and howitzer rounds began to destroy the enemy forces dug in to the south. At sea, the newly commissioned arsenal ship IFAM Karonnin fired its first salvo of VLS missiles.

It would not be the last time that day.

0900 hours Airdrop assault starting.....

Huge cargo ST-92 airplanes start taking from Federational Carrier Neptulon folowed by two wings of F-18 Hornets as protection against Kayeliyan Air forces.Cold and hardened Federational Marines waiteng for the drop light to go red,and when it went of so did the AA fire from the ground.Marines didnt pay atention at AA fire and just jumped off one by one in the blue sky.As one squad droped into a clearing in the forest and set defensive positions,they noticed a squad of soldiers moveing toward them.
Commander yelled:"Possibly hostile troops coming from the south!!!GET READY!!!"
As soldiers came closer,commander said quietly:"Stand down people,those are Mercs I never thought i will say this but,im glad i see them."

In the distance Fox company fought a heavy battle as they missdroped their landing zone,and they started their assault on the Kayeliyan Comm outpost,even with its heavy defenses only six wounded Marines were took out of the battle to a field hoslpital.
After the siezing of the Comm station simple message was sent to the fleet:
"Landing zone secured awaiting instructions".
Flagship officer responded:"Get deep shelters lads,airstrikes have been initiated"

24 minutes later...
Four TU-85 and three wings of F-18 started punding the road to the city of Dzernoye,retreating tanks and soldier were turned into blazing thorches of twisted meat and metal as F-18 droped napalm and armor piercing bombs all around the.TU-85's started carpet bombing the fortifications and larger defensinve positions in the forest clearing the path for the ground troops.
In the meanwhile the fleet bombarded the positions around city of Dzernoye,the explosions turned night into day as a Oil refinery went of from cruise missile....

While the fleet and airforce bombarded the enemy,Marines went quietly through the forest destroying small gaps of enemy defences.

Inside one of the Leclercs, the crew loaded a shell and the gunner shouted "LOADED!" The gun fired, the spent shell flying out and the tanks continued forwards. "MOVE!"

The arsenal ship continued firing, and the commander shouted "Right, we're in range. Begin firing the artillery."

As the ships and airforce pounded the first base,small platoons of marines moved through the dark forest.Sky was lighted by the fires in the distance....
As they approached the bas with caution they only saw a huge pile of ruble and dirt,destroyed tanks,incinerated soldiers and molten humans that didnt look like humans due to constant fires and explosions.
In the meantime they started looking for survivors but without result,carpet bombing did its job well.
Defencive positions were spread 1km around the base,and in the middle was the HQ and Comm center.

But something was wrong......

Recon sniper squad which task was to overlook the Dzornoye road radioed in:

"Huge amounts of enemy armor moving toward the main coalition forces,we have counted 70 tanks but the armored column has no end,someone in the inteligence gave the bombers wrong coordinates,their armour is intact.I repeat,a whole division strong armored column is moving to the Priprovsk gap.Notify the Coalition forces immediately!And we will need Air support!"

Silence echoed through the radio as marines awaited response....Radio was jammed by the Kayeliyans...
They were on their own....

An F-35B roared overhead, launched by one of the Wasp-class Amphibious Assault Ships, and the pilot, looking down, said "Sir, we have visual confirmation of an infantry battalion attempting to flank the landing force. Requesting control, over."

"Granted, Red Dragon 3. Good luck, reinforcements are on the way."

On the deck of a Mistral II class aircraft carrier, all of the 25 plane complement of the carrier was ready to go and on the flight deck, a Rafale waited for the order to launch. Behind it was an A-10 Thunderbolt II and as the Rafale launched, armed to the teeth with Anti tank weapons, the commander on board the carrier smiled.

A Comanche flew over the landing force, spraying cannonfire across the enemy forces and as the Kayeliyan infantry pulled back, devastated and disorganised, precise artillery fire was dropping into their midst. How the hell was it so accurate?

"This is AC-130 support to Arsenal Ship, over. We have reached 1400 hours, requesting that we be transferred from observer status to active artillery support."

4 hours after the fall of the 1 Kayeliyan base

As the marines set up defensive perimeter around the base they got orders to fall back to the Novistrana border and wait to get out of the bloodshed.
But on the airplanes were not the marines of the 1st Ubermarine battalion....The whole retreat was a fake...but still neither the Federation goverment knew that the marines were still alive and ready for action because they were deep in enemy teritory and surounded by Kayeliyans with no comunication devices.

They met these news with sorrow as they got pulled out of the battle because the Federation wanted to engage them in another peacekeeping duty in another country.

16 hours later...

They were onboard the battlegroup sailing back to the Federational Naval base of Tikidion.

Captain Samuel Peterson decided that not seing any other nations troops for almost a week was not a good sign. He motioned for an aid: "bring me the newest intelligence breifings, espesially regarding the Priprovsk Forest!"

"holy Sh*t!" he exclaimed "they left without us. get me the Laudspeaker"

"attention all Avoya Marines: prepare to leave the base immediatly, we are going to war! will all commanding officers report to my command post immediatly."

The T56 Rhinos rumbled through the night, racing towards the burgeoning conflict, and hoping to arrive in time. The Marines did not know many of the nationalities of the nations, but two things kept them happy: it was cold, and Avoya was cold, so they were comfertable, and the Anemian soldiers were out there, and Captain Samuel Peterson could personally attest to their bravery: they had tried to kill him once....

But somewhere in the total darkness sniper eyes watched over the E-56 main road coridor through the forest...the marines were still there...they got cut off the main allied forces without any radio and comunication(radio post destroyed by Kayeliyan artillery)...As they were comlitly on their own cut of the allied forces and the Russian guerillas,the military high comand presumed they were anhilated by the Kayeliyan armoured divisions who were stationed along the E-56 road to defend the city of Dzernoye against the posible allied atacks.
Field commander of the 1 Ubermarine battalion Colonel Michael Zemiovski knew that the only way to get his man back home is to try to capture the city of Dzernoye and its small airfield.
He was clearly nervous when he saw the armoured fist of the Kayeliyan 3rd armoured division rolling on the road to Novistrana.He knew that he will have to make a choice his small Marine taskforce backed up by few Avoyas mercenaries against that force...And the decision was made......
At 0900 hours the marines swept quietly through the dark and snowy forest in the distance the industrial part of Dzernoye was lighting the sky as it was still burning because the inferno that airforce made....

The Federational goverment decided to cover up the presumed disaster in the Proprovsk forest with a fake retreat of her men.The media were silenced and censored not to talk about the presumed disaster,and the entire country did not know about the marines true faith abroad.They all thought they were dead.
Goverment made a huge fake parade for the "victorius and brave" soldiers of the Federation to cover this incident in the eyes of the world.

The Avoyan Marines started creeping through the forest, almost invisible in their camo cloaks. They hugged HK 417s to their chests, and many had combat blades out. They slinked forward, quickly quieting all oposition, until they were in the middle of the enemy base. Lieuteneatn Gordon Pyne set up a beacon, so his artillery would no where to assualt.

He then sent a forlorn hope squad into the middle of the enemy, where they had orders to make as much noise, and destruction as possible. Though no one stated it, they were a suicide squad. It was a rare military that inspired such loyalty in men, but the Avoyan were one of them.

The armoured spearhead charged through the night, barreling torwards the beacon, and hoping the UberMarines would be in place. The Avoyan Tanks had highly advanced APAW devices, which would automatically gun down enemy troops nearby, but in a hostile city, with thousands of enemy troops, they would die quickly. It was all a matter of precise timing, and trusting your allies!

Not really, the tech for auto firing exists, and it is not hard for computers to create a 3D image of a battlefield, with certain troops labelled, so if you have one man who is in charge of prioritizing and marking friendly troops, it is simple!

The "Stalin's falcons" had arrived precisely on the big woods and the whole squadron of 25 helicopters awaited orders from comrade Genaral Jarushesku. The radio grackle saying "The comrade General is speaking: I order to use the chemical facilities against Kayeliyan troops immediately! Be faithful to the Socialist Motherland and our glorious nation! You all comrades are fighting for peace!" As soon as he heard the message, the captain of the flock of helicopters said "Always ready, comrade General!" He was given the order to all helicopters to prepare the special chemical attack equipment with Zykloru and all wearing gas masks and anti-gas suits.
When the red signal on each helicopter became green, was released from all 25 helicopters the Zykloru gas on Priprovsk woods where there was most Kayeliyans. The yellow gas came throught trees and once was breathed by enemies, them all fell to the ground paralyzed. No one was immune to the powerful effect of the gas, although some soldiers tried terrified to escape from the giant yellow cloud.
Soon after, Jarushesku gave the confirmation in command of Allied soldiers who Novistrana of Kayeliya were doped and under effect of the gas would have been paralyzed for over 60 hours and at that time the allied troops could intervene to free the area and capture all prisoners .
The Rumanovic attack was very successful.

Near TSRT/Kayeliyan Border, Red Tidean side

Sittingon the opposite side of the Peoples Republic of Kayeliya from Novistrana stood the gigantic Totalitarian State of Red Tide. Despite being vehemently anti-communist, the Red Tidean State had tolerated the existance of the Maoist PRK solely because the PRK posed no concievable threat to the Totalitarian State.

However, the pre-emptive attack on the PRK by Novistrana had, unfortunantly for both sides, drawn the attention of the Totalitarian State. And one never wanted the attention of the Red Tidean State drawn towards them. For awhile Red Tide merely observed the conflict from the sidelines, but as they did, a plan was hatched in the mind of the nations leader, National Secretary Narmonov.

Within days of the war starting, forces of the Red Tidean State Guard (the Red Tidean Army) began moving units to the border with Kayeliya. Troop train after troop train steamed into stations close to the border. It was a matter of days before two full Army Fronts, with a total of two million men, as well as approximately 10,000 armored fighting vehicles and 21,000 artillery pieces, were stationed in the border regions.

The State Aero Forces were also involved, as two Tactical Air Armies were moved into airbases, totalling over 1,500 aircraft, ranging from between 80 and 200 kilometers from the border.

Vorablensk, the capital of Kayeliya
President Goluyev looked down into the streets, where convoys of green Ural trucks were lining up, delivering supplies to the people in the capital. People were starting to leave Kayeliya by the thousands, and the rebels were gaining an upper hand. Surely, the Novistranians should have known that their forces at the border weren't there to invade, but to rather secure the oil supply. Novistrana must have known that and used it as an excuse to invade Kayeliya.

Dzernoye
The Duty soldiers knew that the military had retreated to the north becuase of the overwhelming enemies, but these militiamen wouldn't. They'd fight for mother Ukraine, for Kayeliya, and their families. They'd use the city's surroundings to their advantage and prepared weapons for each fighter. Their number was around 3,000 and they knew they would be outnumbered by the Novistranians, but they would stop at nothing to defeat them and their allies the KPA.

Somewhere in the Priprovorsk Forest, the city of Pravran
Kayeliyan People's (formerly Liberation) Army leader Misha Zsastin rallied his troops at the camp. He told them: "Russian people of Kayeliya! The Novistranians have come to our aid and the government stands no chance against our claims for independence! Victory is ours!"

Kayeliyan Air Force High Command: "All fighters, scramble to the skies over Lake Priprovorsk and engage any hostiles you encounter. Shoot on sight."

Su-37 Super Flankers were lanuched from Yursk Airbase in the Dzernoye and approached enemy targets.

10 kilometers from TSRT/Kayelian Border, Red Tidean Side, 06:29

Captain Pavel Mentrovosk Kerchutic glanced at his watch and shook his head, time was moving too damn slowy... It was only a minute until H-Hour and the second hand on his watch barely wanted to move! Kerchutic glanced up and stared at his battery of ten 152mm artillery guns. With a range of 30 kilometers, his guns could range well beyond the border for up to another 20 kilometers.

He waited, and waited, and waited... and then the radio crackled.
"All units! Commence Fire Mission in ten seconds!"

Shouts rang out as men raced to their positions, readying their guns-which were already loaded-and taking their positions. Kerchutic glanced at his watch and raised his hand.

3... 2... 1...

"FIRE!"

And the world erupted in great belches of flame and great thunderous roars.

Overall Picture

Of the 21,000 artillery pieces stationed in the two Army Groups assigned to the invasion of Kayelian and Novistrana, 17,500 were guns. The other 3,500 were rocket artillery pieces. To the Red Tidean soldiers (hereafter referred to by their proper title of 'Guardsmen'), it was a sight to see. the 17,500 guns pounded the Kayelian positions all along the line.

Huge gouts of flame and dust shot up into the air, pulverising man, machine, and earth. The opening Red Tidean artillery bombardment encompassed the entire length of the Kayelian border and stretched 20 kilometers beyond it. This entire 20 kilometer zone was transformed into a massive killbox, in which all was obliterated.

Tree's were uprooted by the sheer magnitude of firepower, bushes were pulerised into nothing, any animal, man or beast, caught in the killbox had a very low chance of surviving.

On and on the bombardment went, in addition to the big guns, countless numbers of small 88mm infantry mortars added their wait to the bombardment. This went on for a good hour and fifty-five minutes. The Kayelians still alive in the killbox were probably either insane or screaming for it all to stop.

Then the big guns and mortars fell silent... and the rockets began firing.

The rockets had a 10 kilometer greater range then the guns, so they were targetted further back. So area's that had been spared the initial bombardment was now hit by a massive weight of rockets that saturated the area in explosions. This went on for 5 more minutes.

Then, two hours after the beginning, the bombardment ended... and the advance began.

Armored vehicle engines roared to life and the main battle tanks and armored personnel carriers of the State Guard surged forward, some supported by infantry on foot.

The Shock Army Corps, which were designed to force a breakthrough through sheer numbers and firepower, went first. They advanced all along the border via standard Red Tidean strategy: attack everywhere so as to find weak spots and then poor everything into those weak spots until the enemy line broke. Then fight the enemy in a campaign of manuever warfare until the supply lines were outrun.

Finally, once that was done, consolidate the front and prepare to do it again.

Edge of the atmosphere...

The launch of a ballistic missile, especially a strategic one, could not be missed. The thermal bloom created by the Topol-M as it shot upwards towards the exosphere appeared bright as day on the Red Tidean infrared early warning sattelites orbiting the Earth.

From here on, everything was done automatically, by computers.

It took several microseconds to determine that the missiles (a surprisingly small number, only two) was heading on a trajectory that would clearly land in Red Tidean territory. Thus, self-defence procedures were initiated. Red Tide had invested hundreds of millions of dollars in a full network of Brilliant Pebble Mk-2s.

The two missiles had no sooner exited the atmosphere, then they were obliterated by several of the microsattelites. The missiles had stood no chance, the too few number of missiles, plus the fact that they were still in boost phase-and thus not capable of manuevering- made it all the more easier.

Al of this was done in the space of a minute.

But at the same time, signals were flashed from Red Tidean Central Space Warfare Headquarters too Central Armed Forces of the State HeadQuarters. From there, the news was sent onto the State Fortress in the capitol city of Ariga.

This is real technology that we are capable of deploying today. It would be expensive, but we could do it. Also, if you really want to wage all-out nuclear warfare, do the research. The Totalitarian State has alot more people then you do and alot more warheads.

"The Totalitarian State has once again recieved threats from the irrational monsters in charge of the Novistranan government. Their claims of 'unprovoked invasion' are laughable when they invaded the nation of Kayelia unprovoked themselves. The Totalitarian State is merely taking this opportunity to provide a better, more efficient government to both nations in addition to bringing obvious war criminals too justice.

As an aside, resorting to nuclear first strikes in response to a conventional attack is a undeniable sign of insanity. The TSRT has not even used chemical weapons... which State Guard doctrine states that commanders are allowed to authorise the use of.

Of course, should a nuclear weapon successfully detonate on Red Tidean-controlled soil, which includes our forces, we will not hesitate to resort to take the nessecary countermeasures to remove the obviously threat posed by the Novistranan madmen in charge."

We already fired two nukes at you already. If you advance further, you will suffer serious consequences for several reasons: 1)the Novistranian invasion of Kayeliya was justified. Kayeliya had intent on attacking Novistrana. 2) a ceasefire has been signed between the 2 nations and Kayeliya is now part of Novistrana. 3) we fired those nukes because you had too many forces for our troops to handle. You're a huge-ass June 2004 nation while I'm some October 2008 nation just getting by. 4) You make things easy for your invasion by making yourself border our nation. For your info, I intended for my nation to be in a continent full of nations controlled by me, but you ruined that purpose. 5)That nuke was intended to blow up on your forces once they crossed my border.

President Karasov Eases Restrictions in Government
After pressure from the Red Tide government, the Soviet Republic of Novistrana lifted restrictions on freedoms and allowed elections for the first time since the revolution in the fall. Hopefully, Red Tide will withdraw its troops and accept the new government.

It was not exactly what Red Tide wanted, but it would have to do. Pursuing the war now would look bad internationally. Orders were already filtering down to the units.
