LA BELLE BEVUE
Court Life in the Principality of Bévue
(Just to start things off, this is Zinaire with my new account. This one won't be replacing the old one, only supplementing it).
Bévue is a tiny, morally backwards, economically blessed and mentally retarded principality bordering on the Mediterranean Sea. For those of you interested in this RP, it will be necessary to read the official factbook (http://wikistates.outwardhosting.com/wiki/Bévue) which, admittedly, is a little brief at this time. It does, however, provide one with a basic knowledge of the absurd political situation in Bévue: four noble houses, each of which feels it is entitled to the crown, spend nearly all their time vying to rise to the top of the stack. Sadly, the Bévuesques can't even fight a decent civil war.
This RP is intended to be a long-term one in which we play out everyday court life in one or several of the noble houses. Players will not only get to go head to head with the other houses, but they will get to enjoy the social aspects of court life: poetry, philosophical debate, love, brown-nosing, dandyism, foppishness and much, much more.
Should we get a decent number of people, then we will likely have more than one noble house at play with 4-8 people assigned to each house. Should we get a smaller number, only one house will be player-controlled while the others will be represented by occasional news bulletins.
At this point, Bévuesque existence is largely unformed (because I CBA to come up with it) and those who participate will have the opportunity to shape Bévue and its culture. For this reason, it is absolutely necessary that those who join up are people who I can get along with and collaborate with over an extended time period. It would also be nice if I could reach you via AIM, MSN, etc. in order to discuss matters of state. Finally, while it is certainly not required, some knowledge of French will probably make things more enjoyable for those involved (for the record, my French is only so-so).
Each player can have up to three characters (if you think you can handle that many) and you'll probably have the most fun if they're divided among the houses. However, based on the number of people we get, you may be placed into a different house at my discretion.
Name:
Gender:
Age:
Title: (Many characters will probably be dukes/duchesses, barons/baronesses, etc. but we'll need some servants. See WP's list of court officials (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noble_court#Court_officials) if you need ideas)
House: (The list is in the factbook)
Family (if any):
Description:
Finally, it is probably worth noting that this is MT not PT. However, Bévue is so backwards that their political system is still stuck in the 16/17ish century.
(occ)This sounds quite fun
Name: Léon Salaud
Gender:Male
Age: 26
Title: Count
House: Salaud
Family: Wife, Amélie Salaud and 1 male heir 3 years old and a female twin
Names are Daniel Saluad(male) and Aurélie Saluad(female).
Description: Due to recent infighting between the different houses, Léon is now the oldest male heir to his branch of the Salaud family.
Léon is a tall man, 6 ft 3 inches, and is fairly hefty at a 213 pounds, he has survived many a battle because an opponent has underestimated him, he can be crafty, sneaky and vile when needed, but is naturally a kind man.

Bear in mind, Bévue is francophonic, so you may prefer different names. As for what to describe, looks and history are both good: Generally just give a brief bio. Will you be RPing the wife and children as well? Also, do you have an AIM or something so I can talk to you a bit about your plans?

Yes, I plan to slightly rp with the wife and kids, but i'll mainly focus on Nyx, unless he suffers an unfortunate accident. The only real instant messaging i use is the pms in these forums and xfire, user name is -ASG- Lord Nyx

Yeah, about "Nyx". Maybe something a bit more vowelly? And while you're at it, you might as well make it French (seeing as how Bévue was a part of France until 1301). The other names in the family ought to be changed too, seeing as how this isn't Greece.
Anyway, since I don't have xfire, I'll just PM you if we need to talk.

While i think you underestimate the amount of Greek culture influence on France/your country, the names have been changed as requested.

Nice, two of them are almost entirely vowels. Thanks.
I'd actually thought of doing something like this before with my own country, but never got around to it.
Name: Etienne DuGuise
Gender:Male
Age: 24
Title: Marquis
House: Bevue (I guess?)
Family: None
Description: A young pleasure seeking noble, he is the only living heir of the DuGuise family, once one of the most influential families in France. However his taste for the high life and penchant for gambling has left him nearly penniless, and reliant on the good will of others with wealth, and the strength of his charm.
I hope this is all right

Looks good. If you prefer, I suppose you could not be a member of any of the Bévuesque houses, putting you in a unique drifting position.
Also, IM of any sort?
I rarely use my aim, although my msn (which i'm on slightly more often) is stevek13@msn.com. Don't use the email though, as I never check it.
I imagine my character as coming to Bevue to have fun and possibly regain his fortunes through alliances with the right family. Hopefully that's ok. And I know a fair amount french, although my grammar is completely garbage.

Okay, I'll add you.
Bévue is certainly a good place to regain fortune...that is if you arrive with a sack of four-leaved clovers.
My French skills are pretty similar, those who hold French grammar dear should probably turn away lest they be horribly offended.
Name: Colette Leblanc
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Title: Countess
House: Nigaud
Family (if any): Two parents in their fifties who respectively rank as marquis and marquise
Description: A naïve woman who had an extremely sheltered upbringing, she has never left her quarter on the advice of her overprotective parents. Consequently, she has a very simple view of the world and takes everything at face value.
I hope that was enough information - I'll send you a TG with my MSN if this is sufficient.

Looks excellent. Her unique situation will certainly make this interesting.
Alright - check your TGs. :)

Name: Marc Ralsoa
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Title: Baron
House: (The list is in the factbook): Nigaud
Family (if any): None
Description: Very blunt and gets to the point. He is extremely arrogant and has a nack for getting into fist fights. He is very intelligent though and loves books, though he will resort to using slurs if he wants to get his point across. He is a wonderful horseman but loves modernization and would like to see Nigaud get a foothold over all the other houses.

Name: Francois Bértrand
Gender: Male
Age: 34
Title: Baron of Empoté
House: Empoté
Family (if any): None unless someone wants to do it.....
Description: A noble man if one ever existed he believes in glory and chivalry of a bygone age. He is ruthlessly ambitious and is often bad tempered and violent. However sometimes he can be the most charismatic and charming man ever seen.
I will TG my MSN, if you need it. I will only be able to use my MSN for the next week though...

Because it wasn't particularly French.
Name: Lucien Lacroix
Age: 34
Title: Baron
House: Lacroix
Family: Jeanne (wife; 32), Louis (son; 17), Juliette (daughter; 14), Genevieve (daughter; 12)
Description: Lucien Lacroix is a proud and handsome family man who is passionately in love with his wife and devoted to raising his three children. He is an avid reader of the works of men such as Kierkegaard and is well versed in cultural pursuits and the history of the land. He's tolerant and goodhearted but can be ruthless if provoked.
OOC: Yes, I'll RP as the wife and children and Aresium is actually a puppet of Neo-Ixania if you want to know about that.
[NS:]Bevue
25-10-2008, 23:36
...Lacroix isn't a Bévuesque noble house.
Neo-Ixania

Bevue;14135480']...Lacroix isn't a Bévuesque noble house.
OOC: My mistake for that. I had read that post about you mentioning characters being drifters so assumed I could do that. I'll go into the Empote's house then if possible. All I'm concerned about is being able to take part in all of this; if RL will allow. :p

Seeing as how this is an entire family, it doesn't make much sense for them to drift, so Empoté it is.
