Yes, it probably is too late to start everything again, although so far what you've actually mentioned as being deployed and used in action is only a fraction of the force you listed near the start of the thread. If we class the forces on the ground as a spear-head unit, maybe numbering in the hundreds man-wise with equipment to suit, you can then RP bringing in the rest as things progress.
