The Imperial Maritime Agency was getting annoyed.

The nations of Matwenic and Aleckistan had, for the past few years, maintained a sea route through the Neatlantic Ocean for the trade of various goods, including munitions.

Normally, the Empire wouldn't have cared. The problem was that many nátitects [Kiravian unit of marine area] along this trade route were part of the Imperial Neatlantic Cetacean Refuges, reservations for the protection of dolphins and whales (Which are classified as sentient persons by the Empire).

Also, Matenwic had set up way stations and fueling ports on islands that the Empire claimed as its Neatlantic Insular Administrates.

30km from Holstein Island, Neatlantic Ocean

The INS Enforcer, a long-range patrol submarine, approached the uninhabited atoll.

Its prey: A Matenwic cargo vessel. Completely unarmed, it would make the perfect target.

OOC: Good. You've already shown a good deal of sense by not godmodding the effect of your attack and anticipating defences.

A good way to expand your post would be to write your government's reaction to having part of their merchant marine skewered.

Now, tech is a big part of RP here, and it's likely that your bombers wouldn't be able to reach Nova, though it's equally possible that they could. Gotta love NS flexibility, eh? So, for the purpose of getting this along, we'll overlook tech and say that your bombers made it to Kirav from the East.

"Sir, we've got a bogey, Encroft Station detected it a fe minutes ago." said Private Selkur MecVernas calmly to his superior.

"Type? Trajectory?"

"A pair of them. They're too small and fast to be civilian planes, so I'm assuming bombers. By the looks of it, they're on course for..."

"Where?"

"Kartika, sir."

"Arm our anti-aircraft guns, and alert Kartika Capital Security."

"Aye, sir."

The officer went to the phone and called Encroft Station. "Encroft? This is Daitun. We've identified those two blips as a possible bomber pair. Dispatch a a team of interceptors and, well, intercept."

"Aye, sir."

Meanwhile, Private MecVernas attempted to hail the two strange blips on the radar.

"Incoming aircraft, this is Daitun Airforce Base, Kirav. Identify yourself. I repeat, Identify yourself."

As much as I like your twist in the plotline, controlling other people's characters or assets is considered godmodding, and is against RP convention.

Mantwenic, I'm not trying to offend you. This is a training war, remember? I'm trying to get you used to the conventions of RP here on II so that you can be respected by other players, and create good storyline.

Imperial Navy Sinks Mantwenic Merchant Vessel in Neatlantic

Earlier this morning, High Admiral Aimär, the highest-ranking officer of the Imperial Navy, claimed responsibility for the sinking of a Mantwenic cargo ship off Holstein Island in the Neatlantic Ocean by the INS Enforcer.

"Mantwenic and Aleckastan have been repeatedly violating Imperial law by directing their shipping through our Neatlantic Insular Areas. Their ships have been carrying munitions without clearance from the Neatlantic Insular Authority. As such, our naval units in the region were ordered to destroy any foreign vessel that violated our territorial waters," said the Admiral at a press conference.

The Imperial Military plans to dispatch destroyers and patrol vessels to the colony of Nova Galicia, the closest inhabited KE sovereignty to the NEIA, in addition to up to 7,000 additional ground troops.

"We must be prepared for any retaliation from Mantwenic. As such, Emperor Seawind has authorised the dispatch of supplemental forces to Nova Galicia and the NEIA in order to augment our defence arrangements.

As of yet, War has not been declared. Chancellor Särden Evergreen and Senator Kêrin Vendikur have stated that they see no need to propose a Declaration of War to the Senate at present.

"Why so soon" replied Sam Winston "Let something else happen before we do anything"
"Why put ourselves in more danger than we could handle. I say we stop trading all together it would put us out of danger." replied Nick Konez
"WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID SOMETHING MIGHT HAPPEN" Tony Alexander shouted I say we sign it and go in to war as soon as possible."

"Emperor Seawind?" asked an IIA (Imperial Intelligence Agency) officer.

"Yes, Agent?"

"We have the new report out of Mantwenic. It's quite possible that they will declare war."

"Has the Senate been informed? I will need their backing in order to conduct an all out war, if it does come to that."

"They have been informed, Sèr."

"Good."

Seawind dis as he often did, and looked out the window of Krovenirene Castra. He had already dragged his Empire into war several times, but getting the Senate behind him this time would be much easier. Kiravian terrirories were being threatened.

"I think it's very clear what needs to be done here," said Senator Lorin Sønur of the Verdasa Colony, "If Mantwenic declares war, we have no choice but to respond in kind, and do what is necessary to secure our colonial holdings in the Neatlantic."

For once in the Imperial Senate, there was no rebuttal.

10:00 PM Last night the senate agreed on a declaration of war to be sent to Kirav. Senator Gibbons says that though just signed they will act quick.

"We must not send by water for fear of death" replied General Sebilius Uktrome "We must rely on the skies."

After the Mantwenic [OOC: What is your national adjective?] declaration of war was recieved, little debate was necessary. Emperor Seawind requested action, and a vote was called.

The Legislative Secretary stood and addressed the Senate.

"The Act in question is a Declaration of War against the Holy Republic of Mantwenic in response to a declaration of the same nature issued by that nation. All in favour of declaring war, respond with 'Aye'. All opposed, respond with 'Nay'. A two-thirds supermajority is required for approval."

The Secretary began. "Confederate Republics of Kirav?"

"Aye."

"Colony of Ålavora?"

"Aye."

"Colony of Askatana?"

"Aye."

"Colony of Argenesia?"

"Aye."

And so it went on.

"State of Xirya?"

"Aye."

The Secretary, after recieving the vote of the final colony, added the votes, checked his calculations, and announced: "With ninety-three percent in favour, five percent against, and two percent abstaining, the Declaration of War on the Holy Republic of Mantwenic, is hereby issued by the Imperial Senate, effective immediately."

And so, the Empire was at war.

"We're picking up warplanes coming from the East, Commander," said a radar technician at Encroft Station.

"Mantwenic?" asked the supervisor.

"Well, there's no way to tell, but who else would be sending jets at us?"

"Try contacting them. Lieutenant Vürmec? Scramble a few interceptors. They're not going to stop just because we tell them to."

"Aye, sir!" responded the Lieutenant obediently.
